Title: Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition
Summary: Hack n slash adventure game
Personal notes: The second in the Darksiders series, this is my personal favorite, and the reason why I decided to replay this series. Builds off of the first game perfectly with many great additions. You play as Death and are on a mission to avenge War from the first game. There are new abilities, better movement, and a proper loot and customization system. Achievement-wise, a few are difficult such as reaching Lv 30, this requires playing through NG+, or a personal difficulty I encountered.. The Crucible has 100 Waves and to beat It you have to complete all of these, my game froze about four times on the final fight on Wave 100 which would send me back to wave 76(previous checkpoint). I heard this was due to high dps on the NG+ but was frustrating regardless. Other than this, I had a great time with this game and would highly recommend it at its price, not to mention it goes on sale quite often.

Amazing game, amazing experience.
Regardless of how many times I have played this game in last 10+ years, somehow always feels fresh.
Pros:
- Great combat system.
- Lots of constant upgrades/ loot thrown at you
- Large and detailed environments
- Large variety of enemies
- A lot of challenging and enjoyable puzzles
- Lots of interesting characters and general lore added
- Large variety of weapons and armor sets
- The platforming
Cons:
- Lots of annoying little bugs
- The story never really feels compelling

I had a lot of fun with this game. It's better in almost every way over the first game. The combat is quick and intense. The game is always throwing new / upgraded weapons at you to try. I never got tired of raising the dead (perk) to fight along side me. The world is more detailed, bigger, and adds so much more interesting character and lore to the Darksiders universe. The puzzles were also much improved this time and were also a lot of fun to complete between fights. It's just too bad that Death (the main character) is kinda the least interesting of all of it. And the frequent bugs I encountered along the way just started to weigh it all down. Still, I'm interested to see how the rest of it plays out. I've got Darksiders 3 on the wishlist.
I've owned this game for a while, but I slept on it for the last 12 years. It is really hard finding any faults in this game besides the game breaking bugs that happen randomly during fights that seems to plague users on all platforms. Luckily there are random work-a-rounds each time I interacted a game breaking bug. 10/10
THE GAME IS GREAT, Buy it.
ARCHON CUT SCENE FIX:
Now I see many people talking about the ARCHON cut scene and how the game crashes in it, it happens because once you speak to archon you level up at the end of the cut scene and that is what causes the crash, I experienced it first hand. To fix it just make sure you just leveled up or your xp bar is less than half by doing side quests or killing enemies so when you finish the quest when talking of finding and talking to Archon you don't level up at the end of the cutscene.
If you crash frequently after leaving the items or map menus do this:
just activate v-sync, the game crashes because too high of frame rate (above 120) so turning on v-sync lowers the frame rate so it does not crash
I see the common complaint everyone has and now I've reached it. Wasn't even aware it was a problem till I saw what everyone is saying. Once I got to the Archon cutscene, the game crashes every single time. Can't finish the game. Feels bad, man.
You must play it , its the only Darksiders game that actually was made with love rather than the idea of profit.
Vast Well designed single player campaign. Some glitches.
Zelda style platformer with light RPG-esque mechanics mixed a sequel that built off its foundation with a jerk with a heart of gold MC.
Only frustrating part was the puzzles but that was because I got halfway through the game, took a break, and went back to ensure that I got the whole story because I have a terrible case of CRS.
Suerly one of the most underrated games out there, if you're a God of War fan or any hack an slash gamer, you must play this game!
My thumbs down is all for technical Reasons i stopped playing the game years ago due to getting to a point in the game were a crash would happen and i could not seem to fix it. coming back years later with a new computer i did think maybe my new PC would just fix the issues but i ended up having even more issues.
I like War but I love Death. The first game was good, but a I really locked in with this one. Such a great aesthetic married to a dopamine-fueled combat/loot loop is exactly what I wanted and got. There are definitely flaws here but sometimes that stuff just doesn't matter. The big picture here is RIPPING AND TEARING your enemies LIMB FROM LIMB all while being an goth-bro skeleton.
I love darksiders 2, I remember it being the first game I ever played on the xbox 360. For the most part this PC port is good, and I'm enjoying it but there definitely are some issues. For example, an incredibly inconsistent framerate. On fairly modern harware, (rtx 3060) the game can dip to 30fps in open areas. Another issue that i've had on occasion, but not nearly as much as other players is game crashing. this crashing becomes quite an issue later in the game where crashing becomes for frequent, but it still is manageable due to frequent autosaves.
Even all this isnt enough to warrant a negative review though. I will always love this game. Please play it if you have the hardware to do so. It is worth it.

This game is good in visuals and combat, but it FAILS in such basic things that it RUINS the game for me. The camera is horrible, the FOV is too close, the controls are horrible, it's not possible to use the D-pad to navigate through menus (WTF?), you CAN'T choose wich slot you want to save the game, you CAN'T disable autosave, there's not enough options in the menu, the climbing system is horrible and confusing, the game doesn't have double jump and the landing is too slow, etc.
They should have copied God Of War 2 & 3 in more things, I really liked the visuals and the trailers, but the gameplay was a deception.
P.S.: I installed a "Custom FOV" mod that made the game a lot more playable. I set the FOV to 65.

Probably one of the most fascinating and fun games I’ve ever played and I’ve got about 30 years of gaming experience from Atari to the next gen consoles. This is a must for anyone who even remotely likes action/adventure/puzzle games.
I usually go back and play through it once a year and always see something I missed. It honestly reminds me of the Soul Reaver games for some reason and those were some of my favorites as well. It doesn’t have the switching from the normal world to the dark realm like they had but it just has that Soul Reaver vibe going on which is definitely a plus.
The artwork is top notch and the story is actually pretty fascinating, especially if you’ve played the first Darksiders. The puzzles are fun and make you think, but they are not terribly difficult. The combat is slick, crunchy, and fast paced as well. It’s just a perfectly balance game that sucks you in while you are playing. The kind you play and don’t even realize hours have gone by. Don’t miss out on this game, it is one of those that will stick with for a lifetime. Definitely in my top 10 games of all time.
its beautiful good fighting not one of these games thats easy and alot of diffrent gear / play styles have loved it since the xbox 360 days. and it has enough side missions and stuff to keep you busy for awhile

It's like Elden Ring except this game is fun.
I tried to enjoy this game, I really did, but I just can't with the all the bugs, glitches and crashes. I'm at a point where I can't even use a controller nor my fucking keyboard anymore, so the game is unplayable for me, not to mention the angel cutscene glitch that crashes your game unless you're freshly leveled up. No, I do not care if there are workarounds for it, that shouldn't be the case in the first place (they didn't work for me anyway). The controller issue, I mean.
The first game was pretty good too. It's easily my favorite so far. Story wise, I can't say since I didn't finish it. Also, what was up with the developers turning Darksiders II into a half-baked, open world, RPG with loot and gear and stuff? It felt... Off.
The first game seems to have taken notes from the OG God of War games, which is fine. However in II it was jarring to run around in a mostly empty, boring semi-open world just to activate the side quests. You'll find yourself using fast travel a lot because there isn't really much to explore. If you have an Xbox controller, knock yourself out and give it a try - but only if you catch this game on sale. Especially if you're interested in the story... Otherwise skip this game and just watch a summary on YouTube or something, lol. Going to try Darksiders III soon. I hope it's at least as good as the first game. I heard they kind of made it like a "souls-like"? Should be interesting (I caught all three games on sale via some kind of bundle).

Unfortunately the worst game experience I've ever played. I can't believe how terrible this game is, and it's really unfortunate that i have to write this . Constant crashing, unbearable lag, glitches, and bugs every time that I kept progressing inside game. I literally struggled to play even though I really enjoyed it and I like the gameplay but the crashes and lags when I'm in the middle of having fun and excited to play made me fed up and frustrated. Not only crashing the game, also it crashed my PC, forcing me to constantly restart it. Despite of that, I thankfully have strong PC parts (Ryzen 9, ASUS RTX 4080, Samsung SSD 990 pro). I tried to play in a low setting when I saw these issues and problems, but it keeps crashing. If anyone wants to play it just be cautious and go download emulator. I was just about to finish the game (final hit to the final boss) when the game kept crashing, such a disappointment!
This PC version is faulted. I have done everything I can to troubleshoot why every time I try and leave the inventory menu, the game freezes. This is a great game that i have played on console before but this glitch makes this game unplayable on this digital copy I bought on steam.
Darksiders 2 takes everything the first one did and expands upon it even more. while the first one was a mix of Zelda and god of war like 2 decides to spice it up by adding prince of Persia parkour into the mix. I absolutely adore this game

Coming back to this a decade after its original release, the game stands the test of time. Great action, great art direction, and overall just good fun.

Darksiders is my favorite game of all time. It has it's bugs, sure, but as a PC port from 2012 I feel like it's pros outweigh the cons.
Namely, the game is absolutely chock full of witty humor, dry, sarcastic comments, silly moments mixed with serious ones. The protagonist puts on an air of being a sarcastic, cold-blooded killer who thinks little of anyone besides himself and his siblings, but the game shows he's more than just Death. The combat is simple, but incredibly fun, the loot system is rewarding and easy, the story is short but not too short as to be disappointing, the collectables aren't completely obnoxious (BotW 900 korok seeds anyone?)... there is very little bad to be said of this game, in my opinion!
There are a few bugs that make it somewhat tedious in some locations - namely, you NEED to turn Vsync on. Some of the climbable surfaces (the vines primarily) will get you stuck and not let you climb them if you have Vsync off. Many of the display settings (including vsync) require a restart to apply which can be tedious as well... but once you've got the setup complete, it requires very little maintenance and you can just play! I do hope Vigil games (or whoever has the series now) makes more of this series, but if this is the best we get, then it's a damn good run to end on!
Decent game, unfortunately it suffers from severe performance issues, even on modern hardware. Based on research it seems these issues existed at release and were never resolved. Have tried every suggested solution I could find to no avail.
