its good but it needs some bugs fixed but other wise its a good game.
Game is very buggy but all in all, a fun experience with an amazing lore behind it
Still holds up amazingly in 2025. Think of this as a dark gothic Zelda.
Zelda ocarina of time but for PC gamers. Get the remaster and have an awesome time already.
I did the game at 100% and I'm finally free!
The main game 8/10 rly sustained itself in my opinion
But the secondary quests are awful. 5/10 if u want to do 100%
Absolute gaming from the times when games were supposed to be fun.
Last played on Xbox 360, all I remembered was the game was good. After playing on PC, the word "good" does not do the game justice.
The continuation of the story which this time focuses on the other Horseman - Death.
The game is pleasing to the eye, with graphics that does stand up well to the test of time. This PC port does feature some minor bugs and glitches, especially noticable with scaleable walls, but nothing that would prevent you from finishing the game.
As far as gameplay is involved, this is a straght by the numbers console game from the times when God of War reigned supreme. Its pretty fun with the combos and adrenaline pumping fights, although not as fun as the previous game. The story is of little to no importance, the framework revolves mostly around doing quests for quest givers to progress as well as exploring a semi-open world on a quest to exonerate the Horseman War and restore humanity from oblivion, following the events of the previous game.
If you're a fan of the series or GoW over the top beat the m up games that feature supernatural god-like characters, you'll feel right at home with this game. The art direction is more on the comic book style side, similar to that of Borderland games (although not entirely pixel shade). All in all its a solid game, although executed more on the safe side, as a bridge between other titles, very reminiscent in gameplay and looks of the old Soul Reaver games.
My score: 6/10
Starts out as nothing more than just ok, then goes from annoying to F*** this, not gonna bother with this piece of crap anymore.
Don’t feel like trying any of the other Dark Siders titles after this annoying piece of trash
Game is filled with bugs.
Playing in 2025 and every Dungeon has multiple bugs, climbing has bugs, jumping has bugs, and all the maps have bugs.
Boss fights have bugs.
Bosses get stuck.
Auto save is extremely annoying.
Random drops + auto save make the game unpredictable.
There is no way to stash boss special weapons and they don't scale with the game.
Weapons can't be upgraded in any predictable way and can't upgrade infinitely.
Don't buy this game.
The second game from the darksiders series, this is just a gem of a game. From soundtrack to combat to story, it has it all. Shame the third game is horrible. This ones a 11/10
This is a good game, although it takes a very long time to get engaged properly in the game (same think was with Dakrsiders 1).
The controls suck, but they are manageable.
There are also a few annoying bugs, but with some online help they can be avoided too.
Avoid all the DLCs they're horrible.
An entirely diversified gameplay and style which defines the very personality of a true Horseman. Would 100% recommend this second installment of Darksiders game. Have fun & chill unlike Dota 2 (A soul-consuming game).
got stuck on the level where you have to restore water to the forge but for some reason the ball thingy you need to poceed is stuck on some invisable wall
most badass playable character of all time. one of the best hack and slash RPGs ever
DO NOT PLAY. COMPLETE TRASH with art style influenced by world of warcraft .The game itself is very bad its full of retarded time wasting puzzles looting crafting leveling up skills -typical garbage and boring layout of the levels is super predictable -every single time u know what happens next.Nothing interesting or impressive to see in this game if u have ever played computer games before.
Dumb open world in which u will be spending most of the time in areas that feel like world of warcraft dungeons but instead of fighting enemies 80% of the time u will be running from point a to b (to the next opened door/puzzle) and solving dumb puzzles moving around boulders and whatever. There is also garbage parkour jumping sections that suck.N no sprinting in the game so u will be spamming roll button to go faster repeatedly cause its so annoyng.
Also has checkpoints that screw u over.CHECKPOINT right before puzzle then u solve the puzzle n then fight new enemy types u die-u respawn in front of unsolved puzzle.NICE IDEA.which drugs doing?
This studio should have been shut down(and more!)
Slipknot, teenage mutants turtles and blizzard entertainment all of them should have sued this developers so that they would go bankrupt shutdown n dont make any more crappy games bt as we know they continued make darksiders 3 sjw trash and what else they made..dont know dont care..probably all games ever they made was garbage
For what u need in this game looting crafting upgrading? open world for what? puzzles for what? so hard for this guys to make game just about cool undead guy who kills everything????
A lot of things to be said about this game. First things first, the story is irrelevant. It's really dumb, the whole game is Death on an overarching quest and he has to speak to guy, who refuses to help him unless he fetches items and does X. After that, you progress, and the same pattern repeats all game. It improves on everything from the first one. The combat is better, the puzzles are less boring, and you have the bird to help you if you get lost. I am not a big fan of the RPG mechanics however, I preferred the first game in this regard. The combat is quite complex but you can easily go through the game with the bare minimum of moves learned.
The graphics are not very good. I get it's a PS3-era game but it looks ancient. The "remaster" didn't do much to improve this. And yet, it ocassionally melts my GPU, I have no idea why. A lot of games from this era looked better.
great game, played through it multiple times on different platforms and it holds up on them all
I had a bunch of bugs and some crashes, like on the final boss if you have redemption equipped the game crashes, I had to find the fix on google to finish the game, I had another crash like that where I had to level up before entering a certain cutscene, consistent audio bugs too.
But despite all of that I really loved the game so I'll give it a thumbs up, just keep in mind that in my case all of the crashes were fixable.
Game wont even start anymore. just minimizes. no fix for this? i played this on a lower spec PC once upon a time and came back to finish it on high end pc but i guess i can forget that. dont buy if ur PC is even remotely decent. garbage devs
Update: got it working using a fix another user posted. still dont recommend as it should work out of the box, but the devs left their"remaster" unfixed.
maybe the worst port of a game ive seen should not be sold on steam, and the camera makes you want to reconsider your life. sucks that its a really good game too.
Nice HJack and Slash game with great graphics
The Deathinitive edition is the best way to play the continuation of the Darksiders Story. A more open space world over the first game, it's more of the same tight combat style and collectible hunt of Darksiders 1. With an RNG loot system implemented to try and extend it's play time, it's a 50 hours 1 and done for the story, and 100+ for completionist due to it's NG+ and Nightmare mode unlock for achievements.
Unfortunately there is no endgame "you're missing a collectible missing here" function like in Darksiders 1 endgame so going full completion is tedious and requires a slow step by step guide,
The engine ported to PC has some instability and lacks a bordless window mode, FPS limits have to be set via the hardware and not in game options. It's own Engine can't handle the damage numbers you can put out so damage indicators MUST be turned off to prevent crashing. It's worth about $40.00 USD IMO since it has all the DLC. I SUGGEST going for the BETA build in the game launch options. It has an up to date UI for modern controllers and better UI
8/10
about all the bugs and glitches... there are workarounds. Its annoying but the game is good enough that its worth it
Everytime I press the Esc Button, when i want to return to the game the game freezes. WTF?
THQ Nordic created a masterpiece in Darksiders 2. I originally played the game on my PS2, and have repurchased it on several platforms since. I can pick the game up and play it pretty much any time. Combat is fun/ challenging, environments are beautiful, and the music is spot on. Anybody who enjoys a good action/ adventure should give this game a try.
good game difficulty is kinda unbalanced at the highest end but not hard in any meaningful way
This entire franchise is massively underrated. However, this game is a cut above the others in the franchise.
fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! a bit confusing at first but getting used to it is pretty quick, fun and satisfying combat, a bit janky camera but that doesnt hinder the combat, very GREAT exploration experience especially in dungeons with puzzles and other fun gimmicks!!!! in conclusion: very fun
quite buggy but still very enjoyable. i did encounter several potentially game breaking bugs, but relaunching the game fixed each of them. its great, the dungeons are great, the environments are great. the monsters are great. love the puzzles, and the dlc. great game.
Darksiders 2 definitely is an old game and you can feel it. However, the presentation definitely aged gracefully. The art-style is beautiful. And the setting really allowed the game to breathe. With multiple places that are extremely unique from each other. For example, the first area is this High Fantasy location. And there is another location that is Fallen (modern) Earth where humanity is extinct. I just absolutely love it when areas in games are varied. The music also beautifully matches the tone of the world. And I love the usage of a wide variety of instruments. From classical instruments and instrumentations. To more exotic instruments, and to some albeit subtle electronic instruments.
There is two parts two Darksider 2's gameplay. That is Combat and Puzzle. With puzzle solving really being the main thing you will spend your time doing.
The puzzles are good. As someone who generally isn't a puzzle person, it was hard enough for me to spend a good amount of time actually engaged trying to solve them. But not too hard to the point of being frustrating. And the puzzles themselves are quite creative. Specially the further you get. As you get more mechanics and more tools the further you get. And every single one of them get used in the puzzles.
Combat is pretty fun, but there is a massive issue that really hindered the fun aspect for me. Fighting a group of small enemies is good, nothing wrong with it. But Big enemies can hardly be stunned, so you have to dodge and counter. But dodging in this game feels super weird, it took me 25 hours to finish this game, yet still I have no idea how dodging actually works while locked-on. I end up dodging towards them in a straight line when I intend to dodge sideways. And I end up dodging away from them when I intend to dodge to their side. I honestly have no idea. I also felt like learning the doge attack (Harvester's Revenge) just made things harder. As it's a dodge counter attack that takes a long time for the animation to finish, which you can't cancel with a dodge. In which big enemies, specially bosses would already have attacked you before you finish the animation, with their attacks often stunlocking you to the entire string. So combat often makes me feel pretty annoyed.
One thing that I would say I absolutely despised is the narrative structure of the game. It literally just felt like the most uncreative reasons as to why you have to explore and do things.
I have to go here. But oh, I can't, I have to do these 3 things first. Over and over again. When I get to the Dead City, it literally felt like the game was just dragging itself instead of moving the plot.
But, I'd still recommend it. There's also a lot of people talking about bugs. There isn't really a lot of bugs I experienced. There was one I experienced where Death simply wouldn't climb climbable walls/ceilings. But a simple search said that locking the game at 60 fps would fix it, and it did. So that solved that for me. The game also would close when I would alt-tab. Though that one seemed random. And I didn't really mind it. Overall, I'd recommend playing this game. It did its own thing and it has probably of the sickest concept there is: playing as the Four Horsemen. I am absolutely looking forward to playing the third one
im play about 16 hours so far so good BUTT!!!!! went the crystal spire part it crash... why idk. im try restart my pc it dosen work. im try uninstall and install back it crash same part idk why please help me
UPDATE: after spending an obscene amount of time trying to fix this from crashing trying everything possible, im done. not recommended because the game is so broken it crashes when Death does anything of meaning.
IF YOUR GAME CRASHES WHEN EXITING THE MENU READ THIS
1. Go into your NVIDIA control panel, select darksiders 2 in 3D settings, set max frame rate to 59 or below. Older game that when ran on power house computers we have now crashes game at like 300-400fps instead of the intended 60fps.
2. if you receive "access denied failed to apply" do the following steps: open the file explorer (the button you click to view everything on your computer that looks like a folder), type in "C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation", locate the file named "Drs", delete that file, make a new file named "Drs", restart your computer, try step 1 again, load darksiders 2, test the menu out.
just spent a a good amount of time trying to figure out why it kept crashing and those two steps helped fix it. been playing smooth for quite a while now. i love this game btw. got it with my xbox 360 back in the day and played it multiple times over. this is my first time playing on a good rig and it looks fucking beautiful. very fun once you get it working haha
P.S. Мама Лилит <3
THE GAME BUGGED AFTER FIRST BOSS AND I CANT PROCEED, JUST STUCK IN THERE
I adore this game. My only issues stem from the occasional audio glitch where I have no audio randomly (usually happens in the middle of a fight) and the fact that if it closes itself I have to restart steam (and it does it with decent frequency). Otherwise I love this franchise. I love the game. I enjoy the game and find it fun as heck.
There are some minor bugs and glitches, but most of them have solutions available online. I still had a fun time playing. For the low price, it works well as a short killing-time game.
Very fun puzzle slash game and many bosses
good game and story, I enjoyed it.
Game play is really good and it keeps you on the edge of seat. The puzzels aren't to hard but still lets you think of what you should do. If I had to rate game I'll give it a 8/10
Great game as long as it doesn't crash or not load at all.
Was my favorite game for a long time while I was in the High School, got the preorder Tshirt and all... Comming back and finishing it with all the achivements is simply amazing and nostalgic. It has his flaws, and I have grown to love other games, but this one, will always have a place on my heart.
To be a bit more fair, is an old game, so expect a bit of clunky combat controls and some poor optimization, but if you turn down the shadows and remove the damage numbers you should be fine. Is a great experience and if you plan on completing the BFA achivement, I recomend leave as much collectables as possible on the ground until you have the Portal Power Up, or simply complete the game and start new game plus with a guide because all that backtraking not knowing if you already took that book page or relic is sooo frustrating.
I forgot about darksiders for a long time and just remember it by talking about it with my gf and now i got her into it and after finding this game again i'm going to 100% on this game no matter what and because i wanted to when i was a kid.
Great game.
Sucks I have to start it by booting the .exe in the game file to make it run properly.
different than the 1st game, but the fact that it's different makes it interesting and not boring
Works great on the SteamDeck
Game looks awesome, but it's Glitching. First at launch (which I fixed with Firewall setup stuff), and then after I check the keybindings it just stays at the menu background and I have to Task Manager my way out
This game is a masterclass on baffling game design decisions.
The excellent DMC3 inspired combat system with potential to mix ground and aerial combos with three unique weapons was replaced by a two weapon system that gives you very little incentive to use any other weapon other than the dual scythes.
The tight deliberate dungeon designed was replaced by forgettable samey environments and puzzles.
The upgrade system that made your combos longer, more varied, and more powerful was replaced by a skill tree with the exciting 2-10% upgrades, 1 or 2 health/wrath gain upgrades, 100 point increases in damage.
The previous protagonist was more mobile and more agile than the current one whose whole design and cutscene presence implies they'd be faster and more mobile.
The movement system is garbage. Your horse is slow, the stamina is annoying, your movement speed is terrible, the fact that you're punished for dodging too much when the camera and enemies required you to spam dodge to reposition is a nightmare.
The gear you find besides your weapons is useless in combat besides the death grip which at least lets you move around or pull enemies toward you. The gun is an insult and the other two relics can't be used in combat.
The world is bigger, but much more barren as a result. So good luck being told you can't use your horse to traverse the 70% grey landscapes. Have fun remembering where you've been and where you haven't when every dungeon of a certain area feels like a tileset.
Do you like completing games? Welp, I hope you also like useless collectibles that the game doesn't track. 34 mystic stonebites and you missed one? HA, have fun trying to remember which, sucker.
I have no idea, but I really want to believe that all of these design oversights are all the fault of corporate meddling. A good 3d action camera has been available since the N64, tracking collectibles has been available since Pac-man if you wanna stretch it. Making backtracking and movement easier has been a staple of exploration games since forever.
Holy fuck this game was a disappointment that crashed every 10 minutes.
I really like darksiders II, it is always my best game. I bought this game on steam and PS5 and i play it on ps5 often. But the 60 fps on ps5 is not very good. i hope developer could get the 60fps version on ps5 better.
I got a game-breaking bug in Dungeon Fort, where a puzzle ball is stuck between a will and a rock, and I can't advance the game! I'm nearly six hours into the game, and I can't advance because the game autosaves automatically, and you can't load a previous save!
