In this last chapter of the Five Nights at Freddy's original story, you must once again defend yourself against Freddy Fazbear, Chica, Bonnie, Foxy, and even worse things that lurk in the shadows. Playing as a child whose role is yet unknown, you must safeguard yourself until 6am by watching the doors, as well as warding off unwanted creatures that may venture into your closet or onto the bed behind you.
You have only a flashlight to protect yourself. It will scare away things that may be creeping at the far end of the hallways, but be careful, and listen. If something has crept too close, then shining lights in its eyes will be your end.

My favorite FNAF game, i played this mostly on my old android phone when i was in middle school (great times). Very Scary animatronics, i love the designs. Eerie atmosphere. S tier Horror game. Made by a Christian too if im right.
8/10 😀👍
Still the scariest FNAF game ever made.
I've managed to complete Night 6, Was so close to beating Night 7 (Nightmare) but haven't beaten the game. Why?? Because this game is legitimately too scary for me to handle. It may seem to be easy but it is just incredibly difficult. FNAF4 can go die in a fire. Just ♥♥♥♥ this game entirely. I deeply loathe playing this game on a primal phobia level.
In conclusion, this game is fun to watch, but truly pain to play....
11/10 horror experience, would recommend if you are actively searching for a heart attack.
The game is pretty good, along side the rest of the series. This one stands out pretty good as one of the first four. Though, there's a really big problem where if you get to challenges and play blind mode, the game stops working correctly because there's noise to know if you turn around, the game starts locked onto the left door, so if you need to get foxy you need to wave the cursor all over the screen hoping you don't get locked onto any door, and that leads to confusion of whats happening.
I feel kind of bad for not recommending this but I just want to express my honest thoughts/opinions. I will also readily admit that this is a sensory processing thing for me and most players probably don't have an issue with this, at least not to the extent I do, but I cannot psychologically handle how overblownly loud this game's jump scares are compared to the rest of the audio when survival in this game is centered around listening very closely for sounds. I can handle jump scares, I don't have this problem in any other Five Nights at Freddy's game, it's purely my auditory processing issues in league with the way this game utilizes sound that cause this to be as much of a problem for me as it is in this particular case.
And yes, I know there is a discretion warning when you load up this game but that doesn't really change how I feel because I still consider it a sound design flaw, I do so in every game that has excessively loud jump scares. I'll argue any day that it's completely unnecessary because the execution, the timing, and the buildup of tension are what make a jump scare work, not how loud it is!
This game is great but I have been have delay with going up to doors and turn my flashlight on and closing the door, anyone know how to fix this?
i SAW A GUIDE THAT TOLD ME HOW TO BEAT THE GAME AND IT SAID TO PLAY "MATERIAL GIRL" BY MADONNA BUT IT WAS TOO LOUD AND THE RABBIT JUMPSCARED ME NOT WHOLESOME DO NOT RECCOMMEND.
Fnaf 4 is easily my favorite of the series. I don't think it serves as a scary game persay, however the tense atmosphere is at the top of the series. I know some people don't like the design of the animatronics on this one but I think they're really cool. Say what you will about the lore I actually find this game to be one of the most compelling in that aspect. I'd recommend this game over any other one just for the factor of fun.
92/100
very scary, Which is good people love scary games and it shows laughter and etc and this game is it
Best game in the series when it comes to scariness. I LOVE IT, the first 3 games are not scary, 1st one is when u first play it, 2nd gets repetitive, 3rd one, come one, man. 4th one, terrifies me EVERY TIME I PLAY, its actually scary, well done, on replayability, PLEASE ADD A CUSTOM NIGHT, I understand why fnaf 3 doesn't have one, but this one would be PERFECT for one. Overall, if u love scary games, and actually want to get scared, get this one before getting fnaf 1-3, its worth it.
spent most of my time playing this game with my eyes half shut and had to take a 2 minute breather whenever i was jump scared, overall 10/10.
Peak game. I really enjoy the sound mechanic because it's really easy to understand and play with. It also makes the game really interesting when you're in a vc with your friend and they start singing french fnaf opera and now you can't tell if chica's at your door or not. p.s. foxy's got that gyatt
Genuinely one of the most terrifying games I have ever played in my life.
I've owned this game for years since the day it came out, have only put a few hours into it, and have never beaten the game. Why?? Because this game is legitimately too scary for me to handle. The other FNAF games are totally fine for me, and I've had a lot of spooky furry fun playing FNAF throughout the years. FNAF4 on the other hand can go die in a fire. Just fuck this game entirely. I deeply loathe playing this game on a primal phobia level.
11/10 horror experience, would recommend if you are actively searching for a heart attack.
So, the first night is never usually that bad in any of the games so I’ll just play throu-
Actually scary, fun, and hard
9/10
Easily the scariest game of the original 4 FNAF games, even to this day it still scares me sometimes, an absolute classic for me
5/10
I was actually quite disappointed with this one. Idea is cool - take audio cues from FNaF 1 and make them the main mechanic. But not like this, this is pure torture and not a fun game. You listen closely (sound is taken to the max) and then if you messed up one sound cue you get a fullscreen loud jumpscare. If only there was an option to turn off jumpscare sounds, then it would be much more bearable and even fun. Liked that minigames know have dialogue
i love this game its very scary but very fun to play also i like how you have to listen to the audio ques because it makes the game more scary
its a great game. its a great challange. and unlike the other games, i dont know when im going to be jumpscared.
Making me rely on sound is despicable and deplorable (good and scary game design)
Day 16 of the October Horror Reviews: Five Nights at Freddy's 4
For some people, saying FNAF captured the zeitgeist of the 2010s for indie horror is a stretch, it's a very basic game, made by a creator who was struggling to get his work taken seriously in the gaming industry. So, to see it evolve so much, take the world by storm, be played by basically every horror game YouTuber out there - I'd say it captured the zeitgeist pretty perfectly. It showed the power of "less is more", and why games don't need to be overproduced to create a stirring effect in the people who play them.
The games evolved, and after three games, we were given FNAF4, which is the end to the main quadrilogy (though not the end to the mainline story). And for all intents and purposes: What an ending.
As some have already pointed out, the game absolutely zeroes in on what made the original games scary, and focuses more on the horror aspect. It paints a vivid, though tenuous image of the cruelty of children, and the climax of this game caused more jaws to drop than most horror games have ever achieved.
The first three games had distinctively hidden aspects that made the game a treasure trove of lore and speculation, while this does feature that as well, it's a little more direct. No extra mini-games outside of ones you're already forced to do to proceed, and there are some cute easter eggs that elaborate on certain things. There's also the mythical "box" which, to this day, has never been opened, and never will be - due to Scott's admission that things have decisively changed quite a bit lore-wise since the introduction of the box years ago.
I think, for what it's worth, Five Nights at Freddy's 4 offers the player a tragic conclusion to the quadrilogy, it's not pretty, it's not nice - you're just faced with the truth, and while that truth might not be exactly what we expected, it's still something that resonates with a lot of the FNAF fanbase and has been the cornerstone of many theories and speculations over the past few years.
Give it a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you like mascot horror, and you enjoy games that can easily punish you for making the wrong move: There's an underappreciated challenge to this game. It seems like the buttons were callously put next to one another without any thought, but they were put there to show you how important it is to think about your move before you make it. I quite like that. 8/10
Nightmare Bonnie isn't scary, foxy is annoying asf, and chica is stupid. Can't hear audio cues for shit especially when they're right at the door. Also the mechanics in this game suck. worst fnaf game ever don't buy this just watch caseoh or markiplier play it. this game makes me miss balloon boy.
This game is my favorite in the Five Night's at Freddy's franchise. Scott did a brilliant job narrowing in on the horror aspect, and it certainly had many of us on edge every time we would flash a door. In his first interview with Dawko, Scott said that the game was aiming to make the player commit to an action which they know could be a jumpscare and their death. The game does an inexplicably wonderful job of capturing it, and with all the levels and Halloween DLC that the game has to offer, it was fun to play for hours on end. It's a must have for your steam account.
This is the scariest one yet. 10/10 would recommend.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 - Review
Rating: 9/10
Overview: Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 brings the pure, raw terror that fans of the franchise crave. It’s arguably the scariest game in the series, thanks to its terrifying animatronic designs and a chilling atmosphere that keeps you on edge from start to finish. This installment strips away the security cameras and office setup of the earlier games, placing you in a much more vulnerable position. It has everything a good horror game should have—terror, suspense, and an eerie ambience that heightens the experience.
Gameplay: In FNaF 4, you play as a child in a bedroom, using only your ears and a flashlight to survive the night. The emphasis on sound design is excellent; every creak, breath, and footstep is crucial for survival. The animatronics are scarier than ever, with nightmare versions of Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy being brilliantly designed to give you sleepless nights. The atmosphere is thick with tension, and the jump scares are well-earned, making you feel constantly on edge.
Design & Atmosphere: The animatronics’ designs are nightmarish and well-executed, representing the best of horror design. Each one is grotesque and unsettling, the kind of creatures you’d imagine seeing in your worst nightmares. The atmosphere complements this with dark environments and excellent sound cues that pull you into the fear.
However, one downside is that the game is extremely dark—so dark that while it adds to the tension, it sometimes makes it hard to fully appreciate the incredible detail put into the animatronics. In a way, the fear of the unknown is effective, but it can also be frustrating not to see the creatures in all their terrifying glory.
Story: Where FNaF 4 falters is its storytelling. The narrative is confusing and extremely vague, leaving many questions unanswered. The cryptic cutscenes and hidden details provide little clarity, and this has caused frustration among players. In fact, the lack of clear explanation in FNaF 4 is one of the main reasons Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location was created—to fill in the gaps that this game left behind, relying on future games like Sister Location to provide context.
Pros:
Pure horror: The game captures the essence of what makes a horror experience terrifying.
Amazing animatronic designs: The nightmare versions are creatively and disturbingly well done.
Tense atmosphere: The sound design and dark ambience create an immersive and suspenseful environment.
Cons:
Story is poorly explained: The narrative feels disjointed and unclear, leaving players confused and relying on future games such as Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location to provide context.
Overly dark visuals: While dark environments are fitting for horror, they sometimes obscure the detailed designs of the animatronics, preventing players from fully appreciating them.
Conclusion: Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 excels at what a horror game should—delivering fear, tension, and unforgettable scares. The animatronics and atmosphere are top-tier, making it a must-play for horror fans. However, its overly vague story and dark visuals might detract from the experience for some. Regardless, it stands out as one of the scariest entries in the FNaF series, despite its storytelling shortcomings.
I'm on night 7 right now I never thought I would beat night 2 but I did and I started to understand the game and I made it to night 5 and died to fredbear like over 30 times but I ended up winning it and then night 6 only took 3-4 tries because I understood the rest of the gang and fredbear now.
NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
3 hours in and I still shit my pants while playing this game. 0/10
14 minutes in and I'm already screaming in fear like a pussy. Great game.
Always stuck on 4th night
Nope
Won't go back again
...
Regardless, it's a classic
the contents of the locked chest is the true ending of fnaf6. you're welcome.
ts scarred me as a child... love it now though!!!
this game is fun but i hate my friends when i play this on call.
Good idea but no options and a lot of bugs 🐱👤
Cant pass 2nd night too scared
This one is a lot scarier than I remembered, in the sense that it's mostly audio based so you are listening for these subtle little sounds, but if you miss it and get jumpscared it's so loud. This is the one I'm by far the worst at. The storyline is very sad and one of the ones that isn't as cryptic, for the most part it's easy to follow the story. I think the story is good here isolated on its own and even with just the first three games, but to me it's clear they had to come back and retcon a lot because this was going to be the last one, and I think the idea was it was all the games would be in The Crying Child's Head. But because it can't be that anymore, the game when connected to the newer ones I think makes less sense. Not something I think makes this bad, it just feels like the new answers and explanations they give to this one just confuses me more.
only took me a couple times to figure out night 2,
sound cues, and breathing are some things im gonna need to really learn and focus on
i swear sometimes the breathing is either too quiet or i cant hear it, so then i second guess myself and get jumpscared
i wonder if anyone else ever experienced that
all in all, its a fun game, very scary, i love the nightmare animatronics lol
I genuinely shat my pants due to bear 5 as he was the scariest of them all.
This game is legend. Not gonna lie, It's crazy how it's been 9 years and still gives me shiver. I love this game for making my childhood. I recommend you to try this game, It's pretty good
что в мешочке, Скотт?
5 ночей с Фредди из теперь уже 8
What if you open the box and find FNAF 4 inside, how's that for an inception level ending
scary sound :( good game :) just don’t open the door until u hear footsteps or kaboom
This is certainly a big step up from the original 3 games. I highly recommend this game but I would not recommend to those with sensitive ears or other ear-released problems because you have to have your volume quite loud to hear the sound cues. That would be fine if that didn’t increase the jumpscare volume as well so I do not think it would be very enjoyable. I think there might be a mod to resolve this so if you want to play this and you have sensitive ears, I would recommend you check if you can find a way to reduce the jumpscare volume while not reducing the sound cue volume. Other than that, a GREAT game to get.
gamenya tolol bang aku gak paham game anak jaman sekarang apa lagi game gen alpha, karena aku boomer
Game is good, just make breathing louder for chica.
"lots more teeth for eating you whole~"

Scariest game in the series. 10/10
very entertaining and genius because to beat the game it relies on audio cues but it makes the jumpscares so much worse its so smart and i love how there is a BLIND MODE because of how much this game relies on muscle memory and audio cues
i wanna play it but im too scared to
played for 10 minutes, it was too much for me im leaving
I wouldn't recommend this game, as the volume balance is horrible because if you make a mistake while listening for the characters breathing through the door, the jumpscares will fucking ruin your ears.
