Sacrifice

An old timey classic.
Bit disappointed with one of the campaign's endings (if you know you know), but still a lot of fun and I can only recommend. Wish online multiplayer still worked but oh well.

One of the best RTS games nobody has played. Bought this game on a whim back when it first released, to this day, still haven't seen a game quite like it. Voice actors include Jennifer Hale, Brad Garrett, and Tim Curry.

The game is great, and it's not hard to make it work on modern systems.
P.S. Battles can get hectic and camera can be a pain, but you CAN pause the game to issue orders, it's just that the pause function is not bound to a key by default, but you can find it in the key bindings menu and map it to a key.

childhood banger

My personal contender for the most underappreciated game ever, this 3rd person RTS-RPG might have been ahead of its time.

Despite the graphics being obviously dated (with some models even being funny to look at), the game holds up surprisingly well mechanically. Army management shouldn't cause problems to anybody with RTS experience, the character you control feels responsive and targeting is intuitive, though do expect the occasional jankiness.

Sacrifice's replayability factor is truly astounding. While any single playthrough will be relatively short, each chapter gives you the choice to serve one of five gods. Even though some of them might eventually withdraw their favor and not always be willing to extend it back, the number of possible mission permutations remains staggeringly high. Finishing each chapter gives you access to the chosen god's abilities and army units, so depending on the path chosen, you might end up with drastically different builds each time you finish the game.

The plot of the game is dark, engaging and narrated with not-exaggerated flair. The occasional banter between the gods gives them personality, and provides some non-intrusive comedic relief. Depending on your choices, the story might unfold in many different ways, though always heading toward the same end. You might witness different events, listen to different dialogue, find new allies and fight new opponents each time you replay Sacrifice.

If there's any game I'd like to see remade - it's this one.

It is a great game, a remaster or a proper rework would be great!

Few games bring me back to the olden times. This game does. Get it.

Classic. One of the best games I have ever played. I remember buying it at a Best Buy when I was a kid. Great story. A true masterpiece everyone should play.

My gambling addict friend said if I post a review on Sacrifice and it gets 350 likes and 150 Awards that he will buy me a case of beer, some vodka, and bottle of wine.. So I'm just gonna leave this here..

Massive replayability of the campaign.

One of the best game back in the days IMHO.
Still very good today.
Has some unique gameplay & mechanics, like terraforming - for a game that is almost 25 years old that is quite impressive.
Definitely needs a remake.
And definitely recommend to play it!

This is still one of those old school games that I come back and play for a couple of days every year. 24 years later. Someone NEEDS to make a remake, and/or sequel to this beautifully designed game. I have bought this game more than twice.

A bold ARPG-RTS hybrid that puts the player front and centre as a wizard, wielding the powers and armies of gods (surprisingly studded cast, notably Tim Curry and Jennifer Hale). Controls are in line with classic and modern RTS standards with a unique campaign that still plays well. Choices matter in this character-driven RTS campaign as you work with and betray the gods at your will, strengthening and diversifying your own pantheon as each character plots and schemes. It looks and feels like a game from 2000 so if you can get past that, here is a true gem of classic strategy gaming.

Legitimately one of the best cult RTS games of all time, if you know you know. Also imagine a world where you play a game that doesn't have crippling bugs in it. This is that time.
