About the Game
You never know what the last thing you say to someone will be.On a transport ship leaving earth, a passenger kills time by scrolling through the messages of their social media feed. As the ship leaves and moves further and further away from home, the delay between sending messages and their arrival lengthens. What feels like minutes on the ship is hours, days, weeks, even years back on Earth. Each refresh of the timeline is a tiny window into the past. What will you do in those precious few moments as the lives of everyone you know pass by?
A critically acclaimed work of interactive fiction, Killing Time at Lightspeed allows players to experience life aboard a spaceship hurtling through lightspeed. Just how much can you affect other people's lives with your fleeting interactions through social media? And will it be for the better?

I heard of this game on Extra Credits' Games You Might Not Have Tried list and thought it looked interesting. Several years later I finally got it on sale for a few dollars. This game is pretty cool and I finished it in an afternoon. The core concept of travelling at FTL speeds and having a year pass every time you refresh your feed is really cool. There is only one track for the game but it does sound nice and the game is short enough that it doesn't get too irritating. The political and speculative fiction elements were cool but not super fleshed out. That's actually the only real criticism of the game I have. The characters and overall concept feel like there was more potential. This game was done for a game jam initially so that makes sense, but I do hope that the developer comes back to the idea. Overall this a decent experience but I don't think this is worth $10 so you should buy on sale.

Still surprisingly relevant in 2024 and likely beyond. It's a little rough around the edges and perhaps not fully fleshed out but it'll make you think and it might even make you crack a smile.
wow. what an amazing concept. highly recommend to play this game.
your on a spaceship headed away from home, its ok, you still have social media to stay connected to your friends and family. the app you have works similar to twitter, you can like and comment on peoples posts, get instant messages and read the news. the only issue is youre a bit late to the party most of the time as the time difference means that 1 minute for you could mean a year back home. an event is well over before you can even finish writing a response to it.
