Great game that hurts my brain.
This game is a fun challenge, a true test of one's problem solving skills.
Adorable little game. Not too hard, not too easy for the average adult. However, I was using this as a tool to teach my 8 year old programming, A lot of the tasks are just too hard without middle school knowledge of math. Still, pretty good.
Thanks to Epic Game Store for giving this game away for free, I would never have known about this game if it weren't for them. That was the first time in years I pulled an all nighter and finished the game. I liked the game so much I ended up buying it on Steam (again) just so I could support them.
Its really good automation game which scratches that optimisation itch.
I am utterly terrible at coding, but with the help of google to figure out most of them, I had a lot of fun and like seeing how the coding makes the different levels work
Quirky, interesting, and totally not my kind of fun. If you find programming and debugging a fun puzzle mechanic I'm sure you'll like it. Overall I give it a thumbs up even though I refunded it because I don't think there was anything inherently bad about it or wrong with it, it just isn't my jam (though obviously I didn't get that far in.)
This is an excellent, good-humored game.
What a puzzle game this is. But the thing is, it's not a regular puzzle game. This is probably the closest feeling to what programming in an archaic low level language *feels* like. It is very finicky if you don't have the correct output for all possible inputs. The game essentially is acting like a compiler and can get angry and give you an error. And, if you don't write out pseudo-code before tackling the levels above ~ 15, you're going to have trouble keeping it straight in your head. I'd recommend if you're getting into Computer Science, or want to. But, wow a very cool game!
This game is super addictive and the level progressions are designed with a lot of thought for sure. Can't wait to play 7 billion people after this
While this game does have fun programming puzzles and optimisation challenges, there are several issues:
- Editing your programs is a massive pain, since it is a mobile port with drag-and-drop controls.
- Running long programs is extremely tedious, since there is a relatively low speed limit. This makes optimising your programs a pain.
- Some basic features such a music/sound effects volume slider are missing.
As for the actual puzzles, I have found the difficulty sometimes swings wildly: some puzzles have punishing optimisation challenges, and some can be optimised with very little effort.
Overall I think this game is a great mobile game, but not a shining example of the programming game genre.
coding...
Fun
One of the best programming games in my opinion, it has it all : a fun & witty underlying story, a cool interface and a nice design, interesting puzzles with increasing difficulty, and a super nice achievement system that will entice you to optimize your solution
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
good game
Fuck optimization
yes. beep boop. numbers. boop
Best programming Game besides the second part 7 Billion Humans. I never found a better or even similar one.
Human Resource Machine is an amazing and fun game for those who enjoy logical challenges. The mechanics are simple, but the puzzles get increasingly complex, making you think hard. The game combines programming logic with a fun narrative, where you'll "program" your employees to solve ever more complicated tasks.
It's a game that keeps you hooked with its rising difficulty, and the satisfaction of solving the puzzles is immense. If you enjoy logic, Human Resource Machine is an excellent choice!
Very fun logic game
Very good game for learning the basics of programming and algorithm design, made by no others than the developers of the classic and unique World of Goo. It's not a game for everybody tho, specially if you are not inclined to enjoy neither logic nor computer math, or computer science.
A very interesting programming puzzle game, the game content is different from general programming languages, using more basic instructions and involving the field of assembly. The challenges inside are quite demanding, requiring you to significantly reduce program length or improve efficiency, which is often rare in real life. Therefore, even when solving simple problems, achieving "perfectionism" will require a lot of effort. Overall, this is a mini game with excellent gameplay and art, recommended for purchase.
This game isn't really about teaching people about how to write modern code, but rather how to write assembler/machine code like it's 1970 all over again. The early puzzles are kinda fun, but some of the later ones are too tedious to be fun. There's a reason we have "compilers" these days... so that we don't have to deal with the tedium of it all. However this game is educational in explaining just how simple a typical CPU really is compared to an actual programming "language" and can help wanna-be programmers understand the gears churning inside this crazy-complex machine we call a "computer".
good puzzle game
even if you're familiar with programming, the limited instruction set and # of instructions targets make a good challenge
10/10
Would recommend it should you want to extract your brain juices to code similar to IT professionals.
Necessary gaming if you like programming games. I did all the levels except for the very last one, which i think i'm just too smooth-brained for. But you can defeat me, I believe in you.
Fantastic game, with optional optimisation challenges for existing programmers.
Programming and video games got together, and it's a nerds playground.
If you follow the instructions, you can leave
Played this games years ago and it just annoyed me. Now, three years since I started learning programming, I find this game really fun and stimulating!! Have honestly not played many programming games before but I really enjoy this one.
9/10
Very niche game. If you like programming puzzles, this is for you. The learning curve is much easier than other programming puzzle games, so it may be more accommodating, but it does have its fair share of difficult levels. I recommend it if you are into programming puzzles, otherwise you should stay far away.
My only real complaint is the UI. Some key suggestions:
- Able to debug the program faster (Just default fastest speed. Sometimes the speed goes back to slowest for some reason?)
- Use left and right arrow keys to step forwards and backwards through the debugger.
- The use of labels is kind of annoying. I would like the UI to show label jumps in between lines instead of having their own line.
- Allow text comments as well as the drawn comments. Also I would like if they were the same size as the instructions.
Ops, did someone trick you into programming, how unfortunate
God, I love programming.
It was recommended by my college professor. Great game. Fun. Actually feel like I'm learning something.
