Thank you so much Ubisoft for finally adding Steam achievements to this and a few other old Assassin's Creed games. I'm going to replay this along with Black Flag and Unity.
The game is great. Unfortunately, I lost my 54 hour save game from the server "somehow". I also had Achievements that have disappeared. I'm not willing to invest any more time into this, so off to the next game...
Great historical period, London is magnificent. One of the best and, unfortunately, the last truly assassin's creed game. Absolutely reccomend for playing. Older games are better than todays!!.
It is funny how Assassin's Creed titles may be severely underdeveloped, yet don't seem so.
Easily the most fun AC game I have played, even without ship battles. but I haven't played them all.
1st time playing this game. And I love it! Good graphics, interesting story and good parkour mechanics.
Was hyped for 5 years to get this finally and it was a big let down. Pc port is broken. You will stop mid city just for it load other part of the map, you wont load in if you spawn on the moving train and my god driving the carriages makes you drop to 5 fps which is pure pain especially some missions that require you to ride those. And no,its not in my pc,others have this problem to when i was looking how to fix it(you cant).
Too bad 2020 version of me was a dumdum and didnt know how refunds work yet, threw 20 euros for nothing

I don't understand the hate; I had fun. It was absolutely worth it. It combines great aspects from the early games and newer ones in an RPG system better than the modern ones.
If there's one thing I can give this game credit for, it's how blatant it is about the real story of Assassin's Creed. The Templars have always been closer to doing the right thing than the Assassins have, Ubisoft just doesn't want to admit that spiteful contrarianism can't be construed as a good thing without contriving it to always be on the right side of history. And in Syndicate, it isn't! You play as a heartless thief and a lunatic arsonist who somehow manage to make London worse with every single thing they do, just like Ubisoft did with the gameplay of this game compared to previous titles. No more free roam, because you can't damage enemies in this district until you farm XP like it's World of Warcraft.
It is kind of stupid that the game can run at 60fps and above but the cloth physics are locked at 30fps. A simple .ini file edit fixes it but that fact that it still exists rather disappointing.
Overall a decent game, does not stray away from the classic Assassins Creed with some goofy things here and there.
Parkour feels a lot more questionable this time around with unreasonable jump distances and reduced fall damage. It might be good for a game but does not feel quite right as we are playing as a regular human with no powers to be able to sustain that kind of abuse.
I'm so happy that older Assassin's Creed games get love with added achievements. I love the theme in this AC and it's being set in London, been wanting to play this for a long time and I'm enjoying it a lot!

This game has lots of potential and was fun in the end but there are dozends of imperfections.
Bugs that apparently never have been adressed even in 2024.
Combat is a bit repetetive and way too easy but fun, a bit more fleshed out but also easier than in AC Unity. The fighting animations are fine but nothing special imo.
All of the equipment feels like the worst and most uninteresting rpg mechanics I've ever seen. Who cares about 10% more damage with that weapon type (out of 2 weapon type choices) because of your outfit? How does that even work?? I dont get it and am also not interested in that at all.
The quality of missions mixed, some are fun and thought out but most of them are repetetive and pretty brainless "go there, do that, go there, done" and that just doesnt advocate for Syndicate being a good game.
Story missions and the story in general are similar. The dynamic between the siblings was interesting in the beginning but quickly became annoying, since Jacob is pretty much written as an idiot whose mistakes always have to be fixed later on. Meanwhile Evie is a woman therefore she obviously has to get a shitty love story because oh of course she does. At least her brain mostly operates on a logical basis.
Graphics are pretty good although I'd really like to talk to the person who thought it was a good Idea to limit clothing rendering to 30 fps.
That in addition to London being a fantastic setting (although I would've liked a bit more realism in factories) definitely helped in getting a recommendation from me. Exploring industrial London is pretty much the most fun I've had in the game. I've explored the map wayy before completing the story since that definitely was mediocre.
Get it on sale if you liked previous assassins creeds, it's certainly not worth the 40 bucks.
A really underrated AC game. The world, the parkour and the combat are the strongest features for this game. The story is good. nothing compared to the Ezio trilogies, but it holds up well. Still a must play for die hard AC fans like me.
The story is nice, the voice acting isn't bad, and the world looks really nice and atmospheric. I liked walking down the streets and taking in the atmosphere, although it's a bloody nightmare because every other guy is an enemy. Every couple of yards an enemy sees you and all of a sudden you're brawling in the middle of London. There is an ability which you can unlock to allow you to be able to walk the streets undetected and that made it more enjoyable, because I didn't wana keep going over the rooftops like Spider fking Man all the time. The parkour is alright, although a bit ridiculous at times. You can climb up anything, grapple everywhere, and you can't fall off even if you wanted to. Combat gets repetitive and boring very fast. You beat up a couple of guys like Rocky Balboa in the first hour and you've basically seen it all. It is a fun game, but it feels a bit too simplistic for $30.
It's a long time coming to review this game with time this game actually became like a fine wine and this became one of those games that is good to a degree its not perfect but its still worth playing...

This part of the series is my favorite because of the period in which the game takes place. However, despite the fact that I really love the atmosphere of this game and how it looks, it also has its small problems. What I don't like about it are some of the tasks and side activities that we do, but that's a matter of taste. I think that the combat system, characters and the whole atmosphere of the game are good. The game is not perfect and has its worse moments, but it also has its good ones. I recommend the game because it is good and interesting.
Decent game. Personally I feel like this game was under the radar, which certainly was for me because of the bad rep Unity got. Plot is nothing to talk about. Gameplay was it was okay. What impressed me was the steampunk theme and 19th Century London. The DLCs( Dreadful Crimes + Jack The Ripper) were amazing, arguably more exciting than the main game. Would recommend this game for sure.
Still one of my favorite Assassin's creed game after Ezio trilogy.

Playing this in 2024, this is actually really fun compared to Unity which I just finished playing before this. The new zipline tool makes you feel a little like spider man going from chimney to chimney. The combat is much better and it just feels better moving around that what Unity did. So far the story seems good as well, and we finally have some story happening from outside the Animus.
I don't entirely understand why this game got the hate it did in the AC community, I don't think its perfect, the combat system leaves a lot to be desired but it is fun and beautiful visually, the story is great and entertaining.
Ubisoft is still a garbage company, sure... but this game isn't bad because of that

I literally bought and played this game via steam before. Why now suddenly I don't have ownership? Of course Ubisoft support is busy and it will take a while before they answer me. Why is ubisoft always fucking up with this launcher/activation shit?! It's so fucking frustrating.
Overall a very fun, enjoyable game. Great world building, good mechanics, solid story-line and replayable.
the story made no sense, the gameplay was very uni direction even for an open world, not much to do or interact. so far not my fav A.C game. Though i did like the World War 1 storyline in it a little.
Compared to any other Assasin's Creed game i would consider this one one of the worst. Story is almost non-existant and the plot starts and continues for the first few missions as: "We are good, London currently bad but our father is kinda secret in everything" I think that story might be better however game itself makes it almost impossible to continue playing. Game is buggy, often stopping player, dealing random damage, flipping carts with horses. Enemies are half random and game itself is a joke to Assaissins Creed. In my opinion worst AC game (Havent played Odyssey, Valhalla and Mirage)
Recommended, I guess ... but this is a heavily qualified "yes".
The AC series could be really ground-breakingly good if it would just stop tripping over its own feet. Every game takes such care to build a world in meticulous detail and then dump a shit-tonne of QTE gameplay over the top of it like they have forgotten what the whole point of games is. They're like an Asimov novel which contains nuggets of gold in brilliant ideas swimming in rivers of shi- (the actual writing). It's painful.
Sadly, I find myself drawn in by the environment of a beautifully recreated 1860s London beset by some awful Quick-Time-Event gameplay. Not that all of it is rotten, by any stretch of the imagination. Creeping about on rooftops picking off Blighters one by one like a violent, knife-wielding 19th century bat-man is deeply appealing. Figuring out the optimal way of stealing someone's cargo, or assassinating your target, can be quite entertaining.
But there is just too many of "that one mission" that stops you cold in your tracks and you're like, "What the actual **** was that?" Chase the cargo from the rooftops using a slow-ass bat-rope thing only to recognise that there is no way of keeping pace with the cart because bat-roping is too slow unless you perfect a precise sequence of rooftops to use; meticulously and silently killing a bad-guy's henchmen in a park with no rooftop to hide on, only to have him flee to some magical waiting super-speed cart which you cannot keep pace with because the game has decided that you've failed the mission; successfully capturing a guy only to have enemy carriages cause sufficient chaos that he disappears altogether in what I can only assume was a too badly damaged cart ...
These are not HARD levels, they're just badly designed, relying on a specific sequence of micro-actions on your part, never explained, to determine success, and if you do not follow that sequence you fail. In other words, it's "press K now" followed by "Oops, too slow, he escapes". Actually, it's funny, I remember ye olde games used to all be like that, but once we got past sprite-based gaming and entered 3D gaming, we left all that behind. Not Activision, though.
Not to mention that SO MANY ACTIONS you perform in this game are not fluid, they're pre-cast video sequences that will not surrender control back to you until well after they're done. Or controlling the camera perspective -- what the heck is with me staring at the ground when someone up there is shooting at me.
Seriously, get out of your own way, here, game!
The combat is simple button-mashing and not sophisticated. Not that I am a fan of "Press this nineteen-key sequence!"-style combat, so it's fine by me, but I can imagine some of you purists are appalled. You're better to avoid it, and the game does generally encourage that. It's just not always possible.
It's not THIS game alone, I find this is just how the AC series is built. I want desperately to play Origins, but I am wary of this sort of garbage, I'm wondering whether it is worth the misery of having to overcome poorly designed missions.
So, it's a game with some brilliant world building, squelchy combat, and some QTE reliant mission design. It wavers between being a good game and a frustratingly "meh" one.

Not a bad game. People keep saying Syndicate is the worst but this is a decent and good Assasin's Creed game.
I love it when you can switch between Evie and Jacob. They have different approach depend on how you wanna utilize it such as stealth or brute force. I ignore some of hijack quest because I'm not really interested. The combat seem okay, parkour is like Unity but you can grapple hook. Since I play Arkham game, I really used to grapple hook to gain advantage. Final boss, I expect some more from Starrick. Kinda a bit easy to fight him.
If you have this game, getting a Jack the Ripper DLC is a must. This is a super great DLC. Like an entire game. Almost feel like Sherlock Holmes when come to investigate clue from Jack the Ripper. But this DLC is 20 years apart from main game, and Evie look a bit old and different. That okay, but Jacob doesn't really change. Maybe a hot climate in India make Evie a bit different when Jacob doesn't change a bit.
So that it. I give Syndicate a 8.5/10.

This is just to easy and also boring, nothing like other assasins creed games, also too many cinematics, like it takes forever to actually play the game.
Idk why I didn't play this when it first came out but glad I picked it up on a sale. Not my favorite of the franchise but still a really fun game

This time, the story takes place in London, and for the first time, we have the ability to control two characters: the siblings Jacob and Evie.
The game didn’t have as many bugs at launch as Unity did, and in my opinion, the graphics are quite similar to that other game.
The main story is okay—nothing particularly memorable. However, the Jack the Ripper DLC adds new mechanics and a shift in atmosphere (much darker), which brings a refreshing change to the game.
This game includes the classic elements of the franchise, which already show some signs of being outdated. Despite that, the addition of the grappling hook is a great improvement and enhances the gameplay.
The issue with the game at the time was the annual release cycle. The series had become complacent, reusing the same formula as in all the other games, which made Syndicate feel "good" rather than something memorable, as seen in previous releases. Fans will enjoy it, but it’s sad to witness the decline of the series and how it has lost the ability to be something truly special.

Dessa vez a história se passa em Londres e temos pela primeira vez a capacidade de controlar 2 personagens, os irmãos Jacob e Eve.
O jogo não teve tantos bugs no lançamento como ocorreu com o Unity, e os gráficos na minha opinião estão bem próximos deste outro jogo.
A história principal é OK, nada muito memorável. Já a DLC do Jack Estripador adiciona novas mecânicas e uma mudança de atmosfera (muito mais sombria) o que dá um ar de novidade ao jogo.
Esse jogo possui os elementos clássicos da franquia que já demonstram uma certa desatualização. Apesar disso a inserção do gancho é uma boa adição e confere uma melhoria na jogabilidade.
O problema do jogo na época é a sequência anual de lançamentos. A série se acomodou reutilizando a mesma fórmula de todos os outros, o que faz com que o jogo seja apenas "bom" ao invés de algo memorável como acontecia nos lançamentos anteriores. Os fãs vão gostar, mas é triste perceber o declínio da série e como ela perdeu a capacidade de ser algo especial.

The game is chase me out of my mind. I like what the game has. The open world Victorian London is an excellent play area and even the cheesy Assassin's creed story is okay. But I hate the control and the combat and that your character move like a truck if you know and like the series you probably okay with this, I can't get over it, its just makes me mad every time. Also I hate Ubisoft connect. If you like the series this one will be a good pick I just think I don't like the Ubisoft 3rd person action games.
Game was fun like 90% of the time, but by god it has possibly the shittiest ending out of any Assassin's Creed game or any game for that matter. Also leveling up Ned's loyalty sucked which was a shame because her missions were actually very fun... the first dozen or so, everything after that just hurt.

Having played all main storyline AC games, I always wondered how they would make an assassin in modern times with a city level scape and high rise structures obstructing gameplay, BUT this game squashed all my doubts and did a wonderful job in its game

This game is pretty amazing, love the VA done for the characters as they were really into it plus Jack the Ripper DLC was really well made. Shame that Ubisoft has stopped making titles like this. My only complaint is regarding limited graphics option and also kinda wished Jack the Ripper DLC had a bit more hours of gameplay as I really loved the dark sinister theme London was portrayed. Also the Dreadful Crimes DLC was amazing although it sucks that it's not part of the season pass, but I would recommend to get it on sale as the ending for the dlc is also top notch. I highly recommend this game if you're someone who likes stealth genre and also want to play a game setting based on Victorian era London.

... An amazing game, to anyone who's played assassins creed games or not this is the game for you. It balances the story and free world and it has an AMAZING deep story. The end of the game makes me shed a tear every time. if you've played this game play it over again, if your finished with the game there's MORE missions and activity's and gear to unlock. I genuinly think this is one of the best games created (in the top 10) so if you're reading this and don't have the game... Ignore the price tag an install it is not a dissapointment. Who knew 30GB could hold such an amazing expereince. 10/10 must have game.
A ubisoft original? Yea right, theres not one cat being pumped in this game for it to be ubisoft that created it although nice try creating england but you forgot one major detail. England doesnt have men in it, all english boys do when they hit puberty is grow boobs and long hair and have squeeky voices. They are all estrogen filled ladies with no balls. The only accurate thing is all the women, stabbing and gangs
37 Hours just to repeat the same mission because npc didn,t move, npc missing, npc onn the roof, killing npc is not ok while crushing them with a carriage is ok... Love this game
L fcking game, the game cant be played. It stuck at launcher/Assasins Syndicate Logo at startup then the game got force closed. The solution that admin and YT post wont solve the problem. L Ubisoft
The game is very decent and with a lot of bugs and glitch , player have to grind a lot parkour is kinda good story is also not upto the mark 6/10
