cute idea, but comes up lacking.
the concept overall is quite intriguing. I like the idea, especially since I've enjoyed bridge constructor and enjoy the rewarding sensation of making it past levels. this one however...
the physics felt quite lacking. at first I treated the game with the same thought process as the other ones, thinking it should work similar to that franchise. but eventually I realized that I could place things pretty much unsupported, and it would work just as good?
there was no challenge in putting up the required blockades. I just had to watch the trajectory and make sure enough of the blocks were blocking it. done. top rating, no challenge.
(to be fair I tried mainly the earlier levels and ended up giving up on the game. there may be a low chance that things actually improve later on)
I do think that this game could work if given a complete overhaul on that part, to add a layer of challenge which in turn make it feel more rewarding. because honestly, the idea of the game can definitely work well. but as it is at the time of writing this, it's just too... incomplete?
Bunker Constructor is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as if it was a real PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs. The game is an unusual twist on the usual Bridge Constructor mobile apps where you build a structure over a crate, and when you're ready, enemy tanks will shoot it. A reverse Angry Birds, if you like. That doesn't make this close to being a real PC game, unfortunately, it's just a mobile app and has all the usual problems.
From a technical perspective, as a mobile app, this doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
While there are options to change the resolution for the mobile app, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the mobile app, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals.
The mobile app features simple, cartoony 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort mobile apps. 3D graphics programming does require a degree of skill and competence and unfortunately not all developers have the budget or talent to deliver this, despite 3D graphics cards hitting the mainstream in the 1990's. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing.
The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here.
Because this is a mobile app, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the iPhones that the mobile app was designed for. These are unfortunate handicaps and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was an afterthought for the iPhone developers who are to blame for this. The mobile app is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for mobile phones forces upon a game. Once more, mobile devs have made gaming worse for everyone. I didn't spend thousands on building a gaming rig just so I could pretend it's an iPhone.
These technical defects push this mobile app below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
The poor quality of this mobile app is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 6 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality mobile app is to be expected.
Once more we see greedy mobile devs trying to scam PC gamers. On Steam, this is $5 USD, on app stores, it's $1 USD. Mobile devs must learn PC gamers are not here to be gouged, and can't be expected to pay FIVE TIMES THE PRICE for a cheap mobile app just because it's been lazily dumped on Steam. This is unacceptable disrespect for PC gamers. Because this is a mobile app, is priced to insult and gouge PC gamers, and because of the other defects, it's impossible to recommend.
Just who do they think we are?
Boring & Bad
It a sock. A slightly used, pairless sock. And wet. Sadness is a wet sock.
wtf why are you even reading this this game is shit
1-9 more bug
this game makes no sense with mechanics and is so so so bad
Meh its fun to play but they should add a bit more to it BUT it is good just needs more work.
Fun little game sits like angry birds in a way but from the other side https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6n4cBx4Iy-M&feature=youtu.be
I've only played a few minutes of this game and I can already tell you It's fun. If you like these types of games you'll like this. It's essentially a slightly different take on the bridge constructor games. It's one of those games you break out on a rainy day to pass some tme or if you're just looking for a challenge. I found some of the puzzles to actually be a bit difficult and require planning and/or multiple run throughs.
There are a few things that need to be tweaked though.
1) The menu with the building options shouldn't pop in/out, it needs to stay static
2) There needs to be a quick way to undo placement (Like an undo button).
3) There needs to be a way to observe projectile path. Right now you need to play the scenario over and over to plan out your building, which is kind of a pain.
Its a good game with some pros and cons.
Pros:
1. Good for passing time
2. Good stradegy / not super easy
3. It has decent physics
4. NO MICROTRANSACTIONS!!!
Cons:
1. Great game for wanting to punch your moniter on some levels...
2. I think its a mobile port, and sometimes it can be annoyingly difficult money - wise
3. It costs (in my opinion) WAY more than it should. $5.00?!? come on devs :l
Box Breaking Simulator. 10/10
