But wait, there's more! As if the kidnapping wasn't enough, we're left in the dark as to why Bright Light was targeted in the first place. Because, you know, logical explanations are so overrated. Who needs a motive when you can just whisk away a character for the sake of plot development?
So, join us on this rollercoaster ride of emotions, where the stakes are high, and the reasons are nonexistent. Will our hero triumph over the god of the underworld and save Bright Light? ( 。 •̀ ᴖ •́ 。)💢Challenges and Achievements: A Never-Ending Struggle
Ah, the joy of progressing in this game! As if it wasn't enough to earn the gold award, the developers decided to make it increasingly difficult. Brace yourselves, folks, because killing ghosts is apparently the ultimate test of our gaming skills. But wait, there's more! The game conveniently fails to send enough ghosts our way in a timely manner. How considerate of them! Thankfully, they threw in a casual mode for those of us who prefer a walk in the park rather than a heart-pounding challenge.
Oh, but that's not all! Prepare yourselves for the mind-boggling Fishing achievement. Picture this: not all levels have fishing available, and even when they do, you're only allowed to fish a limited number of times. How thrilling! I can already feel the excitement of reeling in the same fish over and over again. Truly, a riveting experience.
And just when you thought you had conquered it all, the game throws a curveball at you. After countless hours of dedication, I triumphantly finished the game, only to discover that there was one elusive achievement I failed to obtain. Oh, joy! This achievement, aptly named 'On Your Own,' wasn't even an in-game accomplishment. How delightful! Now, I don't know about you, but the thought of replaying the entire game immediately doesn't exactly fill me with glee. Perhaps, just maybe, I'll give it another shot when I exhaust all other gaming options. Oh, the anticipation!

(๑✧∀✧)🎮Gameplay Overview
MOAI 2 is an exciting time management game where you complete tasks to progress. The gameplay involves multitasking and managing resources efficiently to build and collect things. Beat the clock and store power-ups for later use.
Advantages of the Backpack🎒
In this game, there's a backpack that offers advantages to the hero. It allows you to equip an artifact item that provides more resources such as wood, food, stone, essential oil, and mana. Additionally, it improves the performance of workers, making them faster and healthier. This backpack is especially helpful during difficult levels and advanced stages in the game.
(✽≧ᴗ≦)🖼️Story and Art
The story in MOAI 2 is interesting, with a classic plotline. The hero's lover is kidnapped to the underworld, and the hero embarks on a mission to save her. It's reminiscent of the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, but with a happy ending. It also has elements of Disney's Hercules with Hercules and Megara.
One aspect I particularly liked about MOAI 2 is the stunning artwork. The game scenes are visually appealing and immerse you in the game. Additionally, there are more female characters compared to the first game, which brings more diversity.
Comparison to MOAI 1
Like the first MOAI game, each level includes dialogue that sets the scene and adds a story element. There are also storyboard images and text for certain levels. However, MOAI 2 lacks voice-overs, so you have to read the text.
(❀ˊ◡ˋ)( ^o^)ノOverall Experience
MOAI 2 is an incredibly fun game to play. It incorporates familiar gameplay mechanics along with new features to keep things exciting. Despite its simple story, it grabs your attention with its classic plotline and the emotional journey of rescuing a loved one. The fantastic artwork and inclusion of more female characters make it a well-rounded and enjoyable gaming experience that you shouldn't miss out on!

Level 19A is broken (impossible time).
Little fun and overall poor level design
If you played one and you liked it, then this is more like that.
Only mouse click needed to play this game.
Fast fun for an hour a day.
[16.03.2021]
This one is even worse than its prequel. Well, the gameplay has improved a bit, but with a cost of bugs, broken achievements and etc.
[03.08.2021]
EDIT: Level 23(A) is buggy. The last 14 ghosts don't spawn.
I played this game for three times (and I'm still playing for the fourth time), I don't know how I supposed to feel.
First time - Played on Mac for first five levels. Achievement didn't popup. Contacted the developers but no response.
Second time - Played on Windows but 'On Your Own' Achievement didn't work.
Third time - Re-played the entire game but the achievement didn't work.
Fourth time - Playing with a new profile and able to get back the first few achievements (e.g. Awaika Explorer, Persistent Nature)
Disappointing follow up to the 1st game. I found the levels too
straight forward with very little challenge unlike Build Your
Dream. And anything like a storyline was non-existent.
just sad
I really like these games, they aren't all simple tasks and you need to plan ahead to get a level done. Its also a really good timewaster
This is a fun and challenging Time/Resource Management game! It is quite lengthy also, there is a alternate level for each level of the game, so it will give you many, many hours of fun! The graphics are great and it is brightly colored. Your little people are fun to watch as they go about their jobs! You will also receive upgrades along the way that will help you. You might receive a necklace that will give you a 10% increase when you are clearing stone obstructions. (That is just an example...I honestly can't recall what the various items do...so please don't think the necklace actually does that!)
Your bonus item you receive are kept in your "Backpack", which is at the top left of the map screen. When you get a new item, it will show a little notification. There is a story but to be honest I don't really follow it, I just care about the gameplay so I can't comment on the story itself. The goals for each level are clearly listed on the bottom right of your screen. As you complete each goal, it gets crossed out so you can clearly see what you have left to do.
You can keep playing when the timer runs out but of course you won't get the "goldtime", however you can go back and replay levels to try to improve your score. I tend to first play the regular levels, then the alternate ones and then go back and retry for getting all gold. However, that's just the way I do it. You can also choose to play an alternate level right after the regular level...it's up to you! Either way you play it, the bottom line is that this is a great game!
I hope you give this game a chance, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!!
This is the only decent game in the series and it is very good indeed. The others have ridiculously tight timers for a casual player - or offer the zero challenge no timer option. Very sad as I purchased the set based on this one games excellence.
I have a problem with lagging, game slowing down and becomes unplayable in the upper levels for no reason.
Those misfit Villagers are back with more adventures. Really good time waster. The story is pretty decent, graphics are nice. Easy to learn and very enjoyable.
I demoed the games in this series elsewhere and decided to take a chance on them since I like the genre.
If you are like me, the first game in the series (MOAI: Build Your Dream) requires (at least for me) replaying levels over and over to go for gold which is too frustrating. I did finish MOAI 1 and enjoyed it but did not stress over gold for each level. Playing it that way was a lot of fun!
This sequel (MOAI 2) has a CASUAL difficulty mode which is just right for me. I got to enjoy the game without the frustration of a fast timer running down AND still got gold on all 40 levels plus all 38 alternates. I did replay several levels because of strategy but several levels is a LOT better than ALMOST ALL! The CASUAL difficulty does have a timer but it is a lot more generous and you still can get gold. That is a big complaint I have with some of the games in this genre that if you go for a relaxed game play, the best you can get is silver or the equivalent.
So if you like time management / strategy / building games but don't like harsh timers, give this one a whirl. I definitely recommend it over MOAI 1 although they are both great!
MOAI 2: Path to Another World is a time and resource management game and a strong sequel to the original.
It doesn't, however, advance on the original very far in terms of graphics and sound, and the levels felt smaller and more confined. This isn't a bad thing as the original was pretty good for the genre, and It is longer with 78 levels compared to the original's 60.
It's a casual timesink and not particularly difficult, and if you like the genre, or have played games like the Rescue Team or The 12 Labours of Hercules series, you will enjoy the Moai games too.
I love this series of time management/civilisation hybrid. I like the artwork style and musical score, the puzzle for each level to beat the clock while meeting the criteria can be quite a challenge.
I felt like scott lucas when i loaded this game just after he kicked 7 goals in a quater on his bombing left foot. I expected all the roast beef rolls in the world for only 7.99, instead i was given and Ed Cowan duck and only dissapointment. 3/7 would build wall again.
If you want a game where you can spend a lot of time on many levels. A bit like a facebook-game but without all the 'wait or pay to continue'-part. Nice story and I have already completed the first game before playing this.
After the happy end of MOAI, Bright Light and the Hero are living a peaceful life until the God of the Underworld kidnapped the princess, forcing the Hero to journey through many lands to save her.
MOAI 2 is following what the previous game established but with many revamps: indeed, now, you have only 40 levels in the campaign, contrary to the 60 from MOAI. However, this number is increased as you can play at least 38 alternate levels: same "level" with different objectives AND harder.
The gameplay didn't really changed: MOAI 2 is a casual time management game, where objectives must be met in order to advance. But you have to respect the timer if you want to win the "gold star" (in other words, respecting the time) - which is changing from a timer divided in three and representing stars.
In each level, you sent workers to remove obstacles (down trees, rocks or holes), to build/upgrade/repair buildings (fields, quarries, houses, temples, markets, bridges, trees, statues), to trade with bandits or hindus, to open chests, to fish or even to cut down trees. The novelty here is a new building: the bakery that allows you to produce more food by giving a certain amount of food. About the chests, there is also a difference: golden chests have artifacts or bonus while normal chests will contain resources.
Indeed, you have five types of resources - all of them can be traded with hindus or found in chest): food (obtained by fishing or by building fields), stones (obtained by removing rocks or by building quarries), essential oil - replacing the sandalwood - (obtained by building trees), wood (obtained by cutting trees or by trading other resources at the market) and mana (obtained by praying at the temple by giving sandalwood).
However, the game includes also bonus: a wealth scales to have more wood at the market, a horn to have more produced resources, sandals to make your workers work faster, a shield to repel ghost.
Indeed, many levels has waves of ghosts attacking your buildings: you can whip them by clicking on them or build statues (Moai Statues) that will destroy them. The ghosts are of three types: blue (easy to kill and giving 5 mana), red (fast and giving 10 mana) and purple (slow but hard to kill and giving 20 mana).
Moai 2 adds also a backpack that can give advantage to the Hero: more wood, more food, more stone, more essential oil, more mana, less sick workers, faster workers, etc. etc. It will come handy for alternate levels but also for the normal levels later in the game.
However, Moai 2 perpetues the legacy of bugged achievements: you have to play the game in English if you want to unlock Steam achievements (else it will be unlocked only ingame). So, make sure to change the properties of the game to English (your Steam can stay in your language). Add to that that the achievement On Your Own was hard to unlock as you can't use any bonus unless they're stated in the objectives and that many people unlocked it differently. Indeed, some couldn't despite not using bonus or artifacts, others did with artifacts, others unlocked it only while playing normal levels when the rest had to play the alternate levels. As far as I know, for me, artifacts were used and I had to play alternate levels to see it unlocked.
Anyway, while the game isn't really getting many novelties, the bakery idea is nice, like the backpack and the reduced number of levels in normal play.
Graphics are still nice and exotic, with the Hero now living like a local, despite him being a Westerner and making new friends. The soundtrack is also good.
If Moai 2 is a good game, it's really MOAI 3 that will see many novelties. However, it's like 12 Labours of Hercules, you can easily play all games and enjoy yourself very much. Go ahead, seriously, MOAI 2 is really a good sequel.

The Game Review
Game Visuals
I want to mention the visuals in the game are well done. The visuals can be adjusted in the game's option menu.
Game Audio
I want to mention that audio for the game is well done. Even though the audio is somewhat simplistic and repetitive. The audio can be adjusted in the game's option menu as well.
Gameplay
There are two different difficulty game modes to choose from: Casual and Normal.
This is a strategy game, where careful planning is required, due to the limited amount of resources that are available.
There are four island masses with forty levels in total to playthrough in the game.
There are building structures that generate resources but they need to be collected manually by the player.
There are special power up bonuses in-game that allows the player to complete the levels much quicker. The special power up bonuses does have a time limit attached to them. These special power up bonuses show up much later in the game.
The character's rank updates after earning a certain amount of points from playing the game.
There are twenty-four different relics to collect in the game. All artifacts are stored in the player's backpack. These artifacts can be equipped and they have different purposes in the game.
There are fifty-four different achievements that can be unlocked from playing the game. Each of these achievements does come with some requirements that need to be completed before they can be unlocked.
Miscellaneous
There are six different trading cards to collect. Only three of those trading cards are given out by the game. There are several ways to get the rest of the trading card: Purchased from Steam's Community Market; Trade with friends; Booster Packs and its' Booster Pack Creator.
Final thoughts: I have found the game enjoyable to a certain extent. The replay value for the game is low. I would recommend this game, but not at the game's full price value.
It's as fun as it's simple. You can play it if you like strategy games but not to do much thinking and just want to relax.
It's a typical time management game. It really isn't much different from the first one apart from improved grafics and a few more options in how you customize your gameplay by picking up artifacts that give different boni. It's not very hard, even the alternate levels can easily be don on gold level. A good casual game to unwind.
It's not really worth the asking price, but if you can grab it on a sale it's fine.
Warning: One achievement appears to be broken so if you are looking 100% don't get it.
