I used to play this game when I was in elementary school and I had just as much fun replaying it as an adult. I wish they made more point and click games like this. I barely understood the terminology but that's what made it an educational experience. Rock on. Keep sleuthing gamers.
Art and graphics are well constructed. Like all the other games in this genre, seeing rooms and locations multiple times is still challenging to find the objects.
This game has a special place in my heart and nostalgia hits hard. I will recommend it, but other games have done what this game sets out to due, less repeatively, with graphics that have aged better, and placement of items that feels much less random.
6/10
Sadly they felt the need to really stretch the play time of this game, by repeating locations, even with all the same items in it, a loot, which is too bad, as this gameplay really should not be stretch to a 10 Hour (or above) game.
ive loved all the Mystery PI since the very first time i played ONE OF THEM ABOUT 15 years ago. so o purchased the other 4. ive not ben playing lately bvecause of my health. all the new games i cant figure out how to play!
A relaxing fun hidden object game, which make it's even better is in the settings where in this version you can enable "relaxed mode - no time limit" & just enjoy it freely. Wish that the other versions had this as well.

As you can see, this game is the 4th on the list & the last one on Steam, with 5th, 6, 7 missing still.
This game is a legend , it is a game that i played many years ago , and once i saw it on stream i just had to buy it again and play again, so funny to actually remember it, it keeps you busy for +-20 hours and once you are done your family can have a go and try to beat your score, so it is very nice game, i tend to play and family member passes by and start searching for items with me.
There are a lot better hidden object games out there. The clues feel like they were written by people that didn't know English very well, but at the same time they can require a pretty strong grasp on English to decipher. it's strange. Each of the 24 locations is fun enough but you need to play each level about a dozen times to get to the final puzzle. Which is a shame because that last puzzle is a lot of fun, but I can't say its worth it.
The best part of the game is the freeplay mode where you need to find every object in a level because then you at least feel some progress.
But there's so many better in the genre, I'd look elsewhere first.
the game is broken on the seek & find mode and whenever i went to the kitchen map to find the LAST ITEM out of OVER 2100 it kept crashing the game grrrrrrrrrr
A nice little hidden object game. This series was gifted to me so I thought it only right to play them. The levels quickly grow boring as you repeat them over and over. But, never-the-less, a fun hidden object game.
A simplistic hidden object game, yet this one feels pretty bland. The visuals are a little mixed. The sound design is pretty poor as well as the clues. The clues are a bit too stupid and vague, even though connecting objects with others to finish a clue is a pretty unique feature. The clue solving aspect at the end of each case is really tedious and looks like they took the idea off another hidden object franchise, Mystery Case Files. Also, the last tile-matching puzzle in the game is honestly one of the worst I've ever seen. It seems never-ending and relies on luck for the most part. That part was clearly untested.
I like that the game is very straightforward, you mainly find hidden objects and that's it and that's is why I like it, except for the occasional puzzle every now and then which are boring. The scenes also start to repeat over and over but at least you have to find different objects every time... Overall it's a good HOG if that's all you want.
The fourth and final Mystery P.I. installment.
Don't actually get lost in Los Angeles, because you'll end up dead.
8/10
I'm 68 yrs old. I play Hidden Object games to keep the synapse fireing !!! It works very well, and aids in hand and eye cordination! Keeps me thinking about all the same-like items there are to keep my mind sharp!
I'm not saying this a completely bad game, but good grief is it redundant! It is EXACTLY like 'Amazing Adventures from Around the World', just with a different name.
I enjoy hidden object puzzles, but when it drags on for hours with redundancy after redundancy, it gets boring! It's literally the same 25 "maps" over and over and over again, all with the same objects. The only difference in each "level" is what you are finding to "solve" that map to proceed. After doing them for so long, it's easy to remember where some of the stuff you'll be looking for in future "levels". I'm just glad I didn't pay more that $1 for this.
TL;DR - This game has no challenge and is nothing more than a time waster.
I am senior gamer, so I find games like Hidden Object that offer play to keep my brain synapse working!!! The Mystery PI Serise does that and more! Love all of them!!!
So another entry in the Mystery PI series, and the formula is still the same - find some hidden objects, plus the two wildcard (in this case a key and a film reel) in each scene, occasionally do a fairly basic puzzle mini game in between, which have a reasonable variety, but tend towards the easy and fairly basic looking. The story is perfunctory background stuff that isn't going to add much to the experience.
The hidden object scenes are the key to the game, and they mostly are fine - no real issues with translations gone awry I can remember, the scenes are at least slightly naturalistic (if extremely messy, but that is the nature of the genre), and the graphics are good enough for the purpose.
Overall a fine and perfectly playable entry in the series to spend an evening or so going through, probably only for fans of the genre though.
Mystery P.I. is the fourth game in one of the fan favorite series Mystery P.I. in the early era of hidden object games. Here, your agency sent you to find a lost movie in Los Angeles.
The main core of the game is to clear 25 levels, which can contain from 1 to several scenes, where you're finding items in your list, as hidden ones that can unlock the unlimited scenes, make you gain 1.000.000 points or other bonus. Because Mystery P.I. is based on high scores, which means the more you're scoring, the more you're going to climb up the ladder of ranks. At the end of each level, you'll have a minigame (words, pairs, jigsaws, etc..).
After a little town, Vegas and New York, it's time to visit movie studios, beachs and red carpets. That's for me the only thing that changed. I mean by that that Lost in Los Angeles isn't innovative at all, it's just another application of the same recipe that made Mystery P.I. a loved series. I know however that the next in the series had a new element, can't remember it though.
Anyway, you'll be disappointed if you were waiting for something new. The soundtrack is still the same, the core too, as I've said, it's just a change of scenery.
I'll recommend it because I liked it but I prefer to do so for HO hardcore gamers, that will not be bored after a few scenes.
It's a hidden object game. It's a fantastic game to shut down and relax to so don't come here looking for an amazing plot line or game mechanics that are revolutionary in any way. You go to a scene, find the objects, move on. And for that, it's worth 5 bucks as its a game I can repeatedly come back to and put some hours in. And I'll also admit that a few of the items on some of the levels are hard to find so it really does give you a little bit of a workout for your perception. You can view my profile, I'm not an old man I enjoy a wide variety of games, and I can honestly say I will recommend this to anyone. Just straight forward dumb fun.
So, I just finished Mystery P.I. - Lost in Los Angeles, after about 8.5 hours of playing this game.
Would I recommend it?
Not necessarily. It is too repetitive for my taste to be a game worthy of recommendation, and overall, it reminded me a lot of Escape Rosecliff Island, which I finished a few days prior to this game. The game concept is pretty much the same - search for hidden objects, then do some mini games in between, like match 3, memory, and looking for words in a mess of letters - and overall, it doesn't feel all that innovative.
The story with the search for the lost film, as a private investigator, is just a little flavor for the game. Not more, not less.
Overall: if you get this game, buy it at a time it is a lot cheaper than usually. For giving me less than 10 hours of gaming time, it doesn't feel like this game is really worth a lot.
I purchased this in a bundle of Popcap Games, which also means I still have three more Mystery P.I. games to play. And I will play and review them.
