Galacide combines the frenzied action of classic space shooters with the focused, fast-thinking tactics of puzzlers. Choose from a variety of ships, each equipped with unique features and abilities. Embark on your mission to tunnel through the strengthening alien invasion, find the source, and save the galaxy! Go it alone or assemble a squad of your friends to battle in the most unforgiving corners of the universe!
In Galacide, you must carefully strike a balance between fighting the enemy and tunneling through the encroaching Bitwall, as neglecting either will assuredly result in your demise. It’ll take a combination of skill, luck, and an advanced spacecraft to ensure your success, so choosing the right craft for your piloting style is key:
- Mining Ship - A retrofitted asteroid mining vessel, this ship has a solid balance of agility, strength, and firepower, and is equipped with a powerful tractor beam used to pull in enemy Scrap.
- Freighter - A re-purposed cargo-hauler, this ship may not be the fastest or hit enemies the hardest, but it’s as durable as they come, with the ability store & retrieve enemy scrap in its cache.
- Phase Ship - A top-secret military experiment, this ship is able to move extraordinarily fast and temporarily phase through the Bitwall, while dodging enemy attacks.
- Military Ship - The accepted standard for military conflict, this ship boasts huge strength and firepower. Homing missiles lock on targets, and the ability to burst through the Bitwall, carving its own path.
As part of your mission to eradicate the alien invasion, you will journey across the galaxy and visit unique destinations like asteroid fields, planets, mining depots, and junk yards - Each location bringing you one step closer to finding the invasion’s source!
Galacide is regularly updated with improvements and new features, and currently has the following functionality:
- 4 Player Co-op - Enlist the aid of your comrades in your fight to save the galaxy, with 4 player local co-op!
- Campaign - Fight your way through unique environments and challenges to discover the source of the alien scourge and eliminate it!
- Endless Play - See how far you can make it fighting through endless hordes of enemies and tunneling through the advancing bitwall!
- Puzzle Play - Complete progressively more difficult scenarios that challenge your mind, not your trigger finger!
- 4 Playable Ships - Choose from the Mining Ship, Freighter, and Phase Ship, each equipped with special abilities and unique attributes!
- In-game Tutorial - Become an ace pilot by going through a quick training program.
- Leaderboards - Track your skills and see how you compare to your friends and the best pilots in the universe!
- Steam Economy - Achievements, Trading Cards, Badges and collectible Emoticons.

This is a fun arcade game that, having unlocked all the ships, I will put in the small collection of arcade games I play when I want a few minutes of entertainment. It fills that role very well. I'm not sure the story mode was really necessary, but it was short and simple enough that it did no harm.

Game is tough to start out with but once you understand how it all works great game to play. Works great with the nintendo switch pro controller.
Puzzle bobble meets bullet hell
This game brings back a refreshed feeling of the classics and the bullet hell days. Played this with some friends and we had a blast.
puny human makes amazing and fun games
Galacide is an pretty fun puzzle / shooter game, remiscent of Super-R Type or those early 2000's Flash internet games. While easy to begin, it has a quite a few techniques and strategies as you get farther in. I enjoy it as either a mindless way to spend some time, or a challenge to overcome. Would recommend.
Nice little puzzle + shoot'em up game. The concept is very original: basically add a shoot'em up dimension to Bejeweled - so you have to dodge bullets, make your way through the puzzle and put together 4 bits of the same color (yeah that's how jewels are called here).
Pros:
- Pretty
- Nice music (although not extraordinary)
- Unique concept (and very interesting imho)
- Endless mode!
- Addictive (in my case at least?)
Cons:
- Story kinda short (but that's not why you're here, are you?)
- The ship's boost requires going to the far right of the screen - exactly where foes pop, so you end up waiting more just to avoid losing life because of a boost...
Conclusion:
This is an underrated small indie game. If you like puzzles, can enjoy shmups, and are ready for a challenge, take it :D

Galacide is an interesting game. It combines 2D scroll shooting game with match-3 mechanism. You need to fight the enemy ships while picking up the colour balls they dropped for clearing your advancing path by matching their colour with existing obstacles. As with ordinary shooting games, Galacide has different type of ships for playing (unlocked after fulfilling certain conditions), and huge bosses. There are three difficulty levels to challange, in which the lowest one (normal) is already quite hard for me. In addition the producer also provides a puzzle mode and an endless mode that are not easy either, which somehow compensate for the relatively short compaign.
Highly recommended for bullet hell lovers and real-time puzzle funs.
I don't like giving Galacide a thumbs down. The game is well made and I saw no broken mechanics, glitchy design or engine crashes/malfunctions. Had this been a game I made, i'd be proud of selling it on Steam as well. The problem is that I found the game so boring, that I didn't want to launch it again - which is unfortunate since i love Shmups and combat puzzle games like Puzzle Quest. I was ultimately not entertained by the maze management with only three colors, with the shoot 'em up mechanics largely taking a back seat. Long maze sequence and repetitive music made the experience boring for me, despite the action of having to juggle "puzzle pieces" along with dozens of enemies attempting to hurt you with contact damage and occasional shot patterns. The game might be better served with the puzzles segments being shorter and less frequent - but I honestly don't know what will make the game more fun for me.
I can't offer much constructive criticism - most store page reviews seem Positive. I might enjoy this game more on a harder difficulty or in co-op, but I'm not compelled to go back unless a friend wants to co-op with me perhaps. $7 seems like a very fair price for what is available -and it's clear other people are able to enjoy this game.
I wasn't expecting much, and I got a little more than I expected. I wouldn't say its my type of STG, but the execution is there. The confined playing space is pretty interesting. I'm happy I experienced it, but ultimately I'd rather shoot stuff in a shooter game.
Interesting concept, good execution, very slow-paced, couldn't keep me interested.
Fun, fast-paced, frenetic. Just enough stuff thrown at you from enough angles to not feel repetitive/grind-y
Nicely polished bullet hell+puzzle combination. Definitely not a casual experience as even the lightest difficulty requires solid reflexes and concentration. Higher difficulties require an experienced gamer to get solidly in the zone to do well. Very fun, though you may find you forget to blink while playing.
It's an interesting twist to the euro-SHMUP genre but I myself could not wrap my head around simultaneously managing enemies and matching the colors. The game is NOT bad at all but it was not for me. Still, I recommend it to people who love puzzles a lot.
This game is quite simply the perfect marriage of shoot 'em up bullet hell and puzzle games. It does a wonderful job requiring you to proactively solve the moving puzzle while pressuring you with ships and fire. At the end of each level is a boss fight that's very difficult. It even has a strickly puzzle mode and a neverending mode. This game is absolutely thrilling and worth your money, although I would say that this isn't a game for people who don't like challenges.
HA! I like this game. The combination of classic old school arcade side scroller with Bejeweled puzzle action is something I would have never thought possible. But it works! Even with it's slow and deliberate pace, the action still can get quite intense. What I find the most fun so far is when you think you've just about run out of options, the right color comes along and saves the day!

Classic Sega games R-TYPE and Colums are mashed together to create this mind melting assault on the senses. Crazy fun and took me right back to my childhood. I love it.
I like match puzzles and I like scrolling shooters - wasn't sure I'd like the combination of the two but I'm sold.
Controls are very smooth even at this early stage and switching focus between blocks and enemies is very engaging and rewarding. The sound effects and music are good too, the effect when you get a big combo is great.
I figured I would try this game out and I wasn't disappointed. It was fun streaming the game, although I was getting a bit on tilt when I faced the boss in Expert Mode (Damn, did that thing hit like a truck XD). I'll definitely consider streaming this more when there are some more updates to the game. So here's what I can say about the game with a first impression:
Good points:
- Good Graphics and Background
- Good Music
- Good controls
- Gamepad Support
- Relatively easy to pick up, even if you're completely new to the game's style
- Difficulty levels scale pretty well so far
- The different kinds of ships come with their own pros and cons, which will shine in multiplayer
- Settings are nice and simple
Bad points:
- Multiplayer is only local at the moment. Hopefully we can see a network multiplayer in the feature, because this would be a blast to play with friends from my community. I'm already imagining the chaos we would cause in Expert Mode
- Only 3 Campaign Levels, but there are more in development so this is just a minor thing
I was alone during the review, so I can't say much else about the multiplayer aspect. The game looks pretty promising so far and I hope there's a lot more to come :)

Very good game with a unique twist on the shoot 'em up genre.
Warning: Shoot 'Em Up fans must try this game. If you are not a fan of the Shoot 'Em Up Genre, then please move on.
Galacide creates a very good twist on the classic genre Shoot 'Em Up. Not only will you have your own arsenal of guns and ships to choose from, you also have to think quick in order to solve puzzles. The classic color match "bubble" genre like Candy Crush or Bubble With is mixed with side scrolling shoot them up games like R.
The controls were very tough to get use to at first. The Z button shoots your gun while the X button is used for the gems. I found myself constantly sucking in the gems then farting them out behind me. I eventually got the controls down pact and it became a lot more smoother. I reccomend playing with a supported Xbox360 Controller.
The graphics were clean and so far the enemy variety is decent for an early access game. The endless mode is fun and challenging. The multiplayer option is fun and game supports up to 4 players, but only tested with two.

Please do not buy with out first understanding this is an early access game. No special skin options or anything that would set it out visually different than trailer.
