Bombs Away
Best Game ever!
one of the best games i played in my childhood
A good bite-sized SHMUP in the spirit of 1942/1943. Not the best, but a good little time-waster. Visual language is a little bit off so reading the screen is difficult as the game gets more chaotic, but the game is simple enough that it is not likely to severely impede your ability to enjoy or beat the game so much as just deliver you a few frustrating defeats. The levels are short enough that dying and starting over is never that big of a deal. The only real gripe I have with this game is the incredibly slow growth curve. Grinding medals to power up your pilots and unlock campaigns is downright tedious sometimes.
Very chill game
Idk, bro, guys with "crying comments" over hardcore and bad-balanced game saw something that I didn't.
But yeah... The game, like for me, it's good. Good graphics, as for pixel game, mechanics and all that stuff. Bosses, are kinda ez at the beginning, but higher you go - harder it becomes.
I would like to suggest you to buy and play this game, even if it was for phones first.
I have serious mixed feelings about this game. However i can not recommend it.
Just go buy Aces of the Luftwaffe: Squadron.
Positives:
At the start i did like that the first plane you get has an ultimate where they call in allied planes, this fit well with the whole WW2 battle of britain.
The different objectives are pretty fun, bomb a location, protect an allied bombers
The negatives:
My biggest dislike of this game is that you have to pay in game currency for missions The boss does drop a large amount of medals but if you dont have enough well go replay missions. This really annoyed me at the start as it made me replay the first 3 levels.
The other issue is that as stated by others you have to grind for better upgrades.
and the sudden spike in difficulty, with the third and last bosses are some of the hardest in the whole game.

I paid $0.60 and for that price it's a Thumb's Up. But it is in NO WAY worth full price.
But really I got about 35 minutes into before I grew bored.
While I didn't find it as hard as other reviewers said (beat 1st boss in first run with no upgrades), it is pretty obvious by the 2nd world that the way to progress through the game is to grind for medals to buy ship upgrades. The underlying game is not fun or skill-based enough for me to want to do this.
Don't expect much. Get it on major sale if you must try it... it's just not a deep game... so get it at 80% off or higher discount.
It is Ok I guess
I would like to be able to say this is a good game, but there are things that bog it down from the start. Games like these tend to have a grindy element and this one is no different in that sense. You have to get medals in order to upgrade your planes, which is fine on its own. The amount that you have to grind for the final upgrades becomes ludicrous towards the end, however. Just as obscene is the fact that you have to spend medals just to unlock the next chapter. The achievement for bombing the AA guns is very unpleasant to try for since every time you get near one, it darkens your screen for a moment. This makes it hard to see anything and since the action is zoomed in, you have to keep zipping up and down to scroll the screen in that direction to see if something is there to be bombed.
There's definitely some fun ideas here and the sequel fixes a lot of these concerns, but this earlier game as it needs some work to really be enjoyable.
Cheap and cheerful game, very reminiscent of Capcom's 1942 having been flipped 90-degrees onto its side. For the pennies that it is, I'll recommend it.
However, phone ported game or not - there's no excuse to release a game on PC that has the resolution that would make a Nokia 3310 cry. It's so low in resolution that it's simply impossible to evade the chaos in front - requiring almost savant-levels of controller dexterity to see you through.
If you're after a scrolling shooter - Sky Force Reloaded blows this clean out of the water and well worth the asking price.
It doesn't work on my computer. The graphics fill the first half the screen and nothing lines up. Waste of my money.
Worst shooter ever... just grind over grind.
This is an old school, arcade-style shooter. Nothing particularly special. It's also a port of a mobile game, and it's very obvious.
* It clearly looks like it was designed for a tall resolution (i.e. holding your phone in portrait mode to play), as all the graphics are oriented that way, if you look closely.
* Your plane auto-fires constantly, you just need to worry about accuracy and dodging for the most part.
* It's very typically grindy, and appears to have been balanced around the usual mobile model of, "slow progress unless you pay." Thankfully, any actual "Pay2win" has been stripped from this port, but the grind remains.
At full price? Not a chance. At a dollar or less? Sure, it's a fun little diversion if you want something mindless to play and feel nostalgic for the old games. The graphics are very '80s arcade' and the sound is decent. Catchy tunes, and no annoying sound effects (that I've found). Lots of little voice quips from allies and enemy bosses.
Another thing worth noting is that the planes all make an effort at looking like what they're supposed to, so the devs at least put in a modest amount of homework. Bosses are, of course, completely ridiculous, but that's a genre conceit and charming. Perhaps even required.
I know this one didn't get amazing reviews, but at a discount, I recommend it. I've paid more for worse and still not felt completely ripped off.
While not bad for the first hour or so, the progression soon slows down and then the grind gradually kicks in to become a tedious waste of time. Yet another mobile game thrown onto Steam without the microtransactions business model properly taken care of and zero consideration for the single-player PC gamer who, in good-faith, shows an interest in the game.
Developers, and any other developers who share this practice and fail to optimise their game for the single-player PC audience, should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.
Crap from phones. No Vertical view, shitty controls, invisible bullets, boring levels etc. Graphics is kinda nice but this game is waste of fucking time. Stay away, do something else.
Suprisingly nice-looking port from mobile platforms. Gameplay MOSTLY of a moderate difficulty, with only a few bosses and levels presenting a hard challenge. I found my hands trembling from adrenaline rush when fighting bosses from Flight of the Dragon and Night over Europe, I must say :)
There is, however, a BIG problem with this game. Since it was originally designed to have micro-transactions, it has a progressively steep price for upgrades, which forces you to grind easier missions over and over again. Also, ingame currency is needed to unlock each successive chapter in story, which leads to even more grinding. While such approach is unfortunately acceptable on mobile, it translates badly to PC, especially since you don't even have an option to pay instead of grind here. However, the game keeps its save file in plain-text format, and it's very easy to edit it, so if you find yourself tired of grinding, just go ahead and give yourself 10000 medals :)
Despite the problems, I still give this game a thumbs up, because I had fun playing it.
It's furious, it's hard, and it's very rewarding. Love the music!
Controls need a little fine tuning (sensitivity is high on some game pads)
