Im actually neutral on this game so I would give it a 5 out of 10 at best
Only bought it for reading all the textes and yeah... the game's not really good, the story is predictive and the gameplay is not existent. You walk around – wuuh. The translation is understandable (I played it in German) but it's not good (I don't mind this though - in fact I just played it for that; it's funny).
The scares weren't really scary. I have to admit I was shocked one or two times but that was it.
Yes, I only bought it out of my love for trash 'cause I've already seen a playthrough on youtube (and I loved it) but for playing it myself the game just wasn't this enjoyable.
However if you're a trash lover like me, then give it a try - the translation and the (no sense making) story are absolutely gorgeous.
A game that truly blends the boundary between Disilliusions, manga, and horror. The story is not dissimilar to the depth you would see in projects like Amnesia or The Evil Within, but DMH brings the thunder by mixing manga and horror in a big vat of disillusions. The story follows Dis, a short offhand form of the word Disillusion, both bringing back the thematic elements of the game, as well as creating a truly enjoyable main protagonist along the same levels of Steins Gate, Danganronpa V3, and Invasion of the Booby Snatchers. A true revival of the genre, basically The Birth of a Nation if it was a horror game about Manga and Disillusions. I should mention if you like Manga and Horror and Disillusions, this game is particularly down your bowling alley. Anyways, this game reminds me of the time I went over to my pal Mark's place, he was throwing a Halloween party, but he was too busy yartzing in the bathroom because he tried to mix candy corn with gin. So I schmoove my way over to his girlfriend and try to put the moves on her, but it doesn't work so I kicked through the second story hallway window and shred my leg on broken glass and had to go to the hospital for lacerations in a main artery. Anyway, the game's a solid 7/10
This game isn't very good, but its so stupid its kinda fun honestly.
Text to Speech japanese spoken in the game is really silly.
Not a scary game, unless you've got a mannequin phobia
The game is good and graphics are pretty great. Only the end of the story felt somehow... off. The walking is kinda slow even when you run. Even though, I liked it. Thanks for the game. <3
Man, for 20 cents on sale, this definitely isn't worth that price
It's worth more
Alot more
This game should be $70, with stunning graphics and incredible 3d, flawless multiplayer mechanics and storytelling, this AAA title deserves alot more recognition
What a masterpiece, truly an incredible piece of work, StephenAllen, I truly applaud your obviously hard work
I cannot imagine the astounding price it must've cost to have all these Deviantart artists create this incredible artwork, they did an eccentric job
Overall, great character development, unpredictable plot with a crazy whacky twist, excellent design choices, lighting was spot on, and I'm surprised my PC could run this intense game
TEN out of TEN
Very short, consisting of a few jump scares and some text.
All three chapters could be completed within 20 minutes and there is no story value.
After completing all three chapters I went back through chapter one multiple times trying to get an apparently broken achievement which has now been removed.
I do not recommend this game.
A true masterpiece in horror. Who can forget such classic lines as "Oh, someone turned on the lights?" And who can forget "Wait am I the killer?"
If you enjoy walking simulators, mannequins, and a police officer who can swim about as well as a kitten with a brick tied to it then this game is for you!
11/10 would find a randomly sunken airplane again.
< Opens game.
< Is in dark setting, does everything that introduction tells me to do.
< Wait, it says "If I can see this part, I am not connected to internet" Yet am in skype call and watching a stream??
< Begins chapter one.
< Sees question marks and similarities to Slenderman.
< Nope.
< Closes.
You're welcome.
bestreview2k15
The voices are grating, the story is literally less than a half hour long, the graphics look like something out of the "Slender" era of indie games, the jump scares are cheap and get laughable eventually. However on the other hand the charecter design is pleasant enough and what little story they manage to sneak in is at least interesting.
If the story were expanded further however it would be pretty worthwhile, but as it is it's like looking at a deviantart page personified. I expect good (or at least better) things in the future. Failing that I can at least take comfort that my money went towards supporting the author to improve.
So, another day, another poor horror game.
Why the hell am I doing this to myself. I must have some masochism disorder. Hmm.
Ok, what is wrong with this one?
Does the cheap price can excuse everything?
Does a game made by "one man in his attic and his girlfriend in their spare time" should explain the result here?
I say no. SORRY, NO. These are not excuses goddammit.
-Level design is bad, it is way too harsh: it looks like someone cut pieces of planes, polygons & models with an axe before assembling them. They are too empty too.
-Textures are horrible. Seriously, that's not the first time there is this problem in this kind of games! STOP using this much bump mapping!! STOP, THIS IS REALLY DISGUSTING!!! Also, not enough/not any specular on various textures. They don't look natural and are too dark.
-Cheap jumpscares everywhere with moving shadows and mannequins. How original. How unscary.
-Too much forced camera movements. You can do this sometimes to make the player see something that happens but don't abuse of it, here this is too much.
-Multiplayer mode is not really funny to play at all so it's disappointing.
-Google translated game. I tried French, saw the massacre, instantly switched to English. If you want someone to update/correct this for free PM me dev.
On the other hand,
-Story was not super innovative... at least there was an attempt, ok. End was predictable and a little cliché but that was not a problem for me. Too short though.
-Anime character sprites are not so bad but they could use more details (like at least some shadows).
-The jumpscares were too cheap and repetitive like I said BESIDES two events that were actually not too bad, I'm talking about the walls that disolve at the end of chapter 2, reminded me of Silent Hill 3, plus the final event of chapter 3, with the books flying around and so on.
-Text describing various things, events... maybe a little too much but I liked the idea.
I can't really recommend this game, even at this low price. This should be free.
This project lacks of details and attention, especially those pretty crappy textures. I'm sorry but NO, this is a REAL problem that happens too often. It is not hard to make nice looking textures damn, or at least ones which have the right amount of bump, spec, illumination, etc..
TL;DR: even with a huge discount I can't recommend it. Principles. It is not polished, jumpscares are too cheap. I don't wanna seem mean but it really, really needs to be improved a lot, there are too many failures.
the story is intriguing, the characters are charming
and the multiplayer is actually 40x better then half the stuff shat out on steams front page, even when only four people play it every day
like actually buy this it's only a dollar and worth far more then that
and the soundtrack kicks ass
Disillusions Manga Horror
A.K.A: Jumpscare Sim 2k15
Welcome to probably one of the worst games i've played on Steam. Disillusions Manga Horror is a game that can be finished in less than an hour more or less. I bet if you tried you could maybe even finish it in half an hour. The graphics are ugly as sin and all of the scares are more or less the same tired jumpscare repeated over and over. The story is complete anus too, with the twists and turns being especially bad.
So yeah, this game is as bad as it looks from the screens. The only saving grace? It's occasionally funny for all the wrong reasons and... it works? Plus the multiplayer (yes this game has multiplayer) is sort of a neat idea but it's poorly executed and, well no one is playing it unsurprisingly so it's basically pointless.
0/10 would not be spooped again
There are mannequins, moving mannequins, moving mannequin shadows and flying mannequins. There's also "Vaiiiizilllll", though it's still a mystery to me who that person is.
I have to admit that this game was truly a horrifying experience. I can't play it ever again.
Lol. Decisions need to be made here: was this an intentionally or unintentionally bad game? I am leaning in the intentionally bad direction with this one. It's essentially a walking simulator with ridiculous attempts at jump scares (creepy mannequins moving around, random camera jumps to basically mundane items like a piano or a bookshelf, shadowy creatures, and so on). The story itself was 100% predictable, lol. The graphics themselves are fairly typical of Unity engine games. Nothing of note good or bad.
You dont actually click on anything. Events are unlocked mostly by question marks that you walk into., which then trigger whatever may or may not happen next lol. The dialogue is obviously ridiculous.
The music however was pretty cool such as it is.
Also, there are trading cards, and at the time of this review, they are shockingly selling for 20+ cents a piece.
hmmm...do I rate this as a positive or a negative.
I'm going with a real rating of 2 out of 10, but an intentionally bad rating of 6.5 out of 10. That averages out to what, 4.25? That settles it. Thumbs down. However, for a buck, I'df still recommend buying it just for shits and giggles. So, thumbs up?
btw...this game has multiplayer. LMAO!
btw, the confusion in this review fairly well sums up the game also. :)
the game was suspenseful but there were a lot of generic jumpscares that you would see in your typical indie horror game
the voice acting was robotic af and the gameplay was literally 20 minutes long
but i still got my $0.99 out of it
10/10
This visual novel is much like the critically acclaimed "Depression Quest" Unlike Depression Quest, this game is NOT a horror title, The title is misleading. It should be; Disillusion Mannequin Hammer Throwing Simulator, Due to the Nature of this game, It was a deep thriller, much like another great game; "pajama sam 2 thunder and lightning aren't so frightening", But this game is less Nerve Racking, making it a much more enjoyable game.
Final Comments: Although it seems like it was a run-down concept, It put shame to other Survival Horror Games like "Five Nights At Freddy's" It had a Great storyline consisting of mannequins, shadows, and bags of trash. The main character Sid the science kid, did however put me in a deep state of depression due to his Edgy feel (Razor blade necklace .ect) and there were some challenging, yet rewarding minigames.
I rate this game 13/15 Could Use More Skeletons
I don't really understand the negativity regarding this game. To me, it's simple but enjoyable enough. You get a lot (an upcoming multiplayer option, trading cards, etc.) considering the low price. And although the game is terribly short, it produced a few good jumpscares and includes a decent little twist at the end. The anime-style art and the backgrounds weren't exactly refined, but they were effective. I also appreciated the effort put into including voiceovers, which was a nice touch. I just wish the voice actors were a little more expressive because it would help add to the overall experience. My biggest complaint, really, is the length of the game itself. It would be great if they could include more chapters in the future, or perhaps even implement some kind of mod capability via the workshop to expand the story and game a bit more. Basically, you are getting what you pay for, and I was not disappointed.
This is mostly a review for the developer(s), to help them improve upon either this game or the next one.
---
I don't really like jumpscares or horror games made with the Unity tool, but I do like anime style art and visual novels, so I thought I'd give this one a go seeing as it costs oh so very little.
Some of the jumpscares were a little off. For example: the hammer flew at me when I wasn't in front of the window, but to the side of it. Because I couldn't see the hammer, I wasn't startled at all.
Even though the story is very short, the jumpscares were fairly repetitive. For example: the mannequins move. All of them! After the first two I got the drill and they didn't startle me at all after that.
...I do have to admit I played this game during the day and without headphones, because I scare very easily. (But that doesn't mean none of the jumpscares got me! It's just, as soon as I was able to predict them, they didn't scare me anymore.)
The voice acting would've been a nice touch, if the acting wasn't so bad. "Ah. It's a ghost." --> that didn't sound like the character was scared at all. It sounds like someone's just speaking the words from the page, without visualising an actual scary scene. (Were the voice actors chosen simply because they could speak Japanese? I'm not sure if this game was originally Japanese or not, but I'm guessing it wasn't.) Anyway, voice acting is nice and all, but without professional actors it just deducts from the whole experience.
In this case I'd say: maybe give the player the option to turn the voices off. Cause every time they started talking (out loud, I mean) the creepy atmosphere disappeared.
After having started the third chapter I wondered why the first two chapters weren't added together to make one chapter. That's because there is suddenly a different main character for the last chapter. I mean, I understand that there's three chapters because of the three locations, but I still think it would've been better to have two chapters with two different protagonists. What do you think?
I really didn't expect the twist at the end of the second chapter, because I was thinking we'd be following DiS for the duration of the three chapters and it's the kind of twist you'd expect at the end of all things.
The twist at the end of the third chapter, on the other hand, was not unexpected AT ALL. The story kept hinting at Sui's mental disorder in a not-so-subtle way - like when she looks at the café and goes like "those people deserved it, teehee" - kind of like the mannequins I was talking about earlier (in the second spoiler).
The anime art style was quite nice, I really liked it!
I just didn't understand Sui's alternate costume: it's not in the game proper, only in the options menu, but just its being there tells the player a lot about Sui. For me, it spoiled the twist that, gasp, omg, Sui was the murderer! There's gotta be something wrong with anyone who dresses like that. ;)
I'm not sure about the virtual environment, uh, like, I mean the backgrounds and mannequins and stuff: it didn't look very special to me, just another Unity horror game, I guess.
I didn't make use of the VR support, because I don't have an Oculus Rift. (VR horror games just creep me out way too much!)
I'm giving the review a thumbs up because I intend to play it again sometime. It's short enough for that. Maybe I'll try to beat the high score.
---
All in all I didn't think it was a bad game per se, but I do think it would've been better if this game were free.
I'm not trying to rob you of your income here, but it seems like this game was more of an experiment than a full-fledged, actual, finished game. There were too many clichés (storywise) and not enough actual horror/jumpscares (see mannequins and hammer mentioned earlier).
I don't think you deserve the tone in which some people have reviewed this game, I really don't. But that's not to say I disagree with some of the points they've made.
Hope this helps! Good luck on your next project!
So, where do I start?
This game is 19 minutes long. Exactly 19 minutes. That's for 100%. It's one of the ugliest looking things I've ever played. The plot is non-sensical & it has a M. Night style twist at the end (not a Others or Village one... but like a Happening one). It's basically "mannequins move on their own simulator 2014". Just look at the screenshots. That will tell you what to expect. This is pretty much the new "Bad Rats" or "Secret of the Magical Crystals" on Steam. Hell, it's actually getting to Air Control or Earth 2066 quality.
TL;DR: This game is so terrible, it's pretty much offensive. Did I mention that they are charging money for this.
Edit: Totally trying speedruns on this game. Some triggers just don't work if you go too fast. Best time is 8:25 now! ...I've completed this damn game 6 or 7 times and I still don't have all the cards. plzhalp
Very short, consisting of a few jump scares and some text.
All three chapters could be completed within 20 minutes and there is no story value.
After completing all three chapters I went back through chapter one multiple times trying to get an apparently broken achievement which has now been removed.
I do not recommend this game.
For this price i havent been expecting much anyway.
I want to consider it from an objective perspective:
first at all , a game doesnt need necessarily nice graphics, but since im studying game programming with unity as well i can tell there werent put much effort in all the used assets in the game.
what i can tell is the trigger programming worked at least but it was very basic and also not much efforting. of course it took you maybe some weeks (more likely days) to make it, but when you start creating a game you should do your best and use all the opportunities you can get which in this case i cant recognize anywhere in the gameplay elements as well.
in addition the game play could have been far better than this , like the slow walking speed for example.
And the jumpscares were rather funny than creepy and very random and basted one after an other like a queue.
there wasn't any riddle to solve, the content in this game is very low and you will be through the entire game in less then 10 minutes.
if i would count all the aspects this review would continue 10 more pages probably.
here a short overview when you don't want to read it all above
- very low content ( short game time )
- low gameplay elements
- assets are very low budget
- no convincing horror concept
- every basic programmer can create this kind of stuff
- developer was probably looking for making money quick
conclusion:
1/10 buy on your own risk
Игры похожие на Disillusions Manga Horror
