A great strategy Game multiplayer works quite well

If I could give it a neutral review i would. It's not a terrible game and there is alot of things I like about it. The scale of it, the massive unite count, the slow pace, the time peroid and more. But for me, what brings it to a negative review is mostly the AI.
For a start its not very good. It mostly just blobs up its troops and march it straight to your base or army if you have an army in the field. In my experince the AI also use "cheats". For example, there is a teach you can research that reveals the entire map. The AI seems to have this from start. I tried a 1v1 vs AI on a massive map while i tried to scout the entire map to find the AI base, low and behold the AI just marched an army straight to my base without sending out a single scouting party. There is also certain resources needed to produce, upgrade and maintain your army such as gold, coal and iron. I've noticed that the AI often dont produce enough of it to be able to to get their army to the state its usually in without using "cheats".
Also this teach I talked about that reveals the entire map. That is also a huge dissapointment for me. Once it's unlocked you see every move your opponent makes. This then just boils down to, see enemy moving to point A -> move to defend A -> enemy sees you moving to defend A -> enemy moves to point B, and so on. So winning is not about strategy and tactics. Just outproduce your opponent untill you can overwhelm them.
There is good elements in this game, but if they ever make a Cossacks 4 I hope they improve how the AI works and remove the teach to see the entire map to make tactics and strategy more important.

Reasons I'll say I like this game - "I appreciate the attention to scale, a hark back to Age of Mythology and Rise of Nations that scratches the itch I haven't had scratched in quite a long time. This period in history is so underrepresented in gaming and it's nice to see a full fledged experience."

I love the game but for about a year now i cant start any game it just crashes or closes cossacks. Really sad to be honest because it is one of the best games i have ever played

Reminds me when I was a kid playing this game. Sheer number of constant fighting and its cool to see men fall down to their knees after a volley of fire. Did a 24 hour run on this game straight and seems solid when you what to play a simple game.

It is true that this game is an absolute flashback to when PC gaming was simple and engaging, and just booting it up and seeing the visuals already subtracted 20 years from my current age. I've never played Cossacks back in the day, and the footage on the Steam page was enticing enough to churn out the money for it.

And while the gameplay is smooth and easy to grasp (anyone who ever played an RTS will immediately feel comfy), there are two problems so big, it just completely destroys any enjoyment for me: The AI and technical issues.

The trailers and images promise tactial fights with unit positioning, well planned approaches using the landscape and so on. But what it boils down to is an AI that straight up does one thing: Produce units at an ridiculous rate and position and attack with them in one predefined way. 100% OF THE TIME. They never learn, never deviate. And with the tempo being this high, there's no use and time for strategic unit placement. There's only one winning strategy: Outproduce and steamroll.

Combine that with a game that was never properly patched and just straight up annoys you with so many shortcomings: The game sometimes runs like ass without any reason. Regular freezes for a second without any indication as to why. Although my graphical settings are saved, it doesn't apply them. 144Hz never works, it goes straight to 60Hz. Achievements stop working all of a sudden and are disabled from that point on. It's all so infuriating, that in total, this is not worth the hassle. Which is a shame, because the foundation is more than solid.

Terrible game.

I have to say, discovering Cossacks was like rewinding time back to childhood. Here's a game that has all the trimming a grown boy needs: A bunch of colorful and historically accurate powers of the gunpowder-era Europe, just before all those pesky 1848 revolutions. A sense of romance and violence blended nicely together. Ore mining, farming, OCD hoarding. Cannon, ships, muskets! Even drums to keep them marching infantry all in pace like.

This game is awesome. I rarely play games that is about the 17th and 18th Century. It's amazing to see different playable Nations and discover what their buildings, armies and sometimes their cultures look like. Futhermore, the designs of the maps and soldiers armours and uniforms are very lovely. Plus, the stories are very interesting and fun(I also love the jokes they've put in there). Finally, the music is hyper addictive. I can't stop listening to them.

This game sometimes reminds me of my childhood when I play flash games. I'm glad that I bought this game, I can't wait for the next DLC to come and I hope they finish the Editor mode.
