About the Game
2064: Read Only Memories merges old-school adventure gaming with modern storytelling to explore some of the social challenges we will face in the near future. Explore the colorful future metropolis of Neo-San Francisco, meeting a huge cast of fascinating characters and solving a far-reaching mystery. Think carefully about your choices, because you never know how they will affect this dynamic, branching narrative further down the line.
The world is changing.
Genetic alteration of humans is now commonplace, with many choosing to radically alter their bodies to express their individuality. Virtual intelligences called ROMs (Relationship and Organizational Managers), created as simple digital assistants, are exerting greater control over people’s lives. Some are terrified by this rapid change, and they are willing to go to extreme lengths to prevent it.
A lost ROM named Turing breaks into the apartment of a struggling journalist to ask for help. They claim to be the first sapient machine—not a simulation of life but a genuinely self-aware artificial being—and the technical genius who created them has gone missing. Can you unravel the shocking conspiracy that threatens to rock an entire society? Or will the darkness that lies behind the bright neon lights of Neo-SF consume you?
- Old-school, cutting-edge - Classic point-and-click adventuring inspired by the likes of Gabriel Knight and Snatcher is melded with modern branching storytelling that delves into identity, individuality, and what it means to be human.
- People of the future - Get to know a diverse cross-section of Neo-SF’s population, brought to life by some of the best voice talent working in games today, including Melissa Hutchison and Dave Fennoy (The Walking Dead), Erin Yvette (Oxenfree), Austin Creed (WWE’s Xavier Woods), and internet stars Jim Sterling (Jimquisition) and SungWon Cho (ProZD).
- High tech nostalgia - The city of Neo-San Francisco is rendered in beautiful pixel art, and your adventure is accompanied by a catchy low-fi electronic synth soundtrack.
- Solve the mystery - Enjoy over ten hours of adventure gaming goodness, featuring exploration, dynamic branching conversations, multiple endings, and many challenges to overcome.
- The definitive PC edition - Since its launch two years ago, the team has made many improvements and additions to an already amazing game, making this the ultimate version. Additions have included new characters and voice performers, additional facial animations, Japanese language support, and the “Endless Christmas” extended epilogue that allows you to hang out with your favorite Neo-SF locals.

Pretty enjoyable in presentation and art but characters and the plot doesn't cut it enough for me to like the game
*describing what i like about the product*
This game is awesome, I've not finished it yet but I've definitely played it enough to write this review!
Things I like about it:
- Interesting story, a friend of yours goes missing and you have to find out what happened to him accompanied by a little robot buddy named Turing. If you like cyberpunk futuristic style stories, this'll be right up your alley.
- Multiple endings and multiple ways to do puzzles - this means there's replayability!
- The puzzles aren't super hard but also not super easy either, and if you fail a puzzle there's usually another way to get past it, which is great so you don't ever get stuck and can't continue.
- Different dialogue options, so you can be mean or nice to people to get different responses.
- Fully voice acted! And the VAs do a great job, their delivery is on point.
- Cute graphics, pixelated but also easy to see what everything is.
- Great memorable characters, most of whom pop up a few times during the story. My faves are Chad & Oliver, they're hilarious. One character owns a polar bear butler, so you know it's a good time!
- You can click on multiple things in every location and read dialogue or talk to Turing about it, and you can try to use items in your inventory on basically everything too to get a funny bit of dialogue. I love when games do this, there's a funny bit where I tried to use a stun gun on something, got in trouble for it and for awhile I wasn't allowed to try to use the gun on any other items.
- Banging soundtrack, SO many good tracks! The whole OST is on Spotify, definitely check it out!! It's all 8 bit sounding and awesome and really gives me 90s DOS games vibes which is an era I'm super nostalgic for.
Overall, I'm really enjoying 2064: ROM a lot and recommend it! I was a bit iffy at first cos the artwork on the Steam page didn't really appeal to me, but I gave it a try and I'm hooked now.
OMG! It was HUGE! I want more games from this developer! Like it SO MUCH! All in this novel was amazing - visual style, music, characters, voice acting! It feels like in 80s-90s - for example Runny Bluster but with voice acting - SOO COOL!!!! And this unexpet warandroid drama - icryed to the end!
Just one con (but its my inner con) - PURE WILTY! I feel so bad about him - he is dead and & I so dump that i didnt understood how it good vibe system works (((((, i didnt know that u need to talk to it in every chapter & dont understood how much! EHHH....This fault will be forever with me (T___T)
GAME 10/10 !
Point & Click (Narrative Heavy)
Steam Deck: Compatible, but the in-game keyboard either doesn't work (name entry) or requires spamming the buttons to get any input (every other instance), and the mini-game achievements are practically impossible without a mouse
I can't lie - I LOVE the world they have created here. The story is interesting and the characters (especially the voice acting) are positively charming. There is a LOT of text in here, and it can be a bit much at times, but for the most part the writers have done a good job of making the characters feel rounded. Many of the puzzles have multiple solutions, which does a lot to reduce railroading, although there is still some (particularly near the end leading into the final confrontation). Overall I enjoyed my time with the game and I look forward to moving on to the sequel.
Nothing fancy but a well-made little VN. It's well written, funny, fully voiced acted and the characters are quite likeable. I enjoyed the story much more than I thought I would, thanks to this cast of goofballs.
Good game, a few plot holes and could use some editing though.
This game is so much more then just a visual novel, the amount of items and people you can interact with that give often extremely funny dialogue is insane and so much of it is completely optional. Plus I wasn't expecting any voice acting let alone the game being fully voiced and everyone did a fantastic job, all this combined with great characters and a pretty compelling mystery makes this one of my favorite games. Also banger ost
Adorable! Engaging! A choose-your-own-adventure with lots of fun details!
It's shiny but dweeby. Wants to talk about a lot of social issues it has a weak grasp on, and the characters are all stock. I wanna say it has its heart in the right place but that's complicated by some weird choices. I like this style of adventure game, but I don't like this.
I love Turing, and the voice acting!
I think a unique thing the game does is:
You have the option, at first, to try to talk someone into doing what would be helpful for your overall objective. If you say the wrong things, they may not be into it. Instead of putting you into a failstate, from there you look into an alternative way to make progress with them that isn't talking. And if that fails too, you can find a plan C. I don't think you can really fail-fail, you just have alternative methods that may or may not be as satisfactory, but it'll do.
The reason I didn't finish the game were some of the characters. They're such unlikeable, overused tropes.
Bit dated but alright.
Very enjoyable game, good pacing, very nice Art.
A bit lighter on the puzzles id like in an adventure game, but the story is enjoyable so that was fine.
good game
