Now, millions of miles away from home, a micrometeoroid storm has left us with a severely damaged ship, two deceased crew, and the sneaking suspicion this trip was doomed from the start.
Tharsis is a turn-based space strategy game. With dice. And cannibalism. It puts you in control of humanity’s first mission to Mars, just as it’s struck by a micrometeoroid storm. You must guide your crew through disasters, food shortages, and the unforgiving nature of space — all while maintaining your sanity amidst cryptic signals and warnings from Mars.
Defy the odds, make the difficult decisions, and embark on the most important mission in human history.

A great little game to play in little bursts. The mechanics are neat and it feels like a well thought out single player boardgame. It can get quite tricky on the higher difficulties =)
The concept could be more interesting, but the execution is pretty bland gameplay wise
Love the game just wish they didnt abandon the type of game play. I'm fine with the no longer be update or expanded... make another with the same game play call it Tharsis 2 or something. Did it really sell that bad????????
An incredibly punishing die-based game about the trip to Mars (and oh yeah, you'll die a lot on the way there). When some kind of incident impacts your ship, your crew must desperately move around the ship, using their precious dice rolls to cultivate food, heal themselves physically and emotionally, and repair damage before it kills your astronauts or destroys the ship. If you run out of food you can eat corpses: it's a pretty bleak game.
The mechanics are challenging and punishing but consequently a successful run feels really, really good. There are some occasional bugs that can largely be avoided by not messing around with the dice in ways you shouldn't. Highly recommended sci-fi horror!
I used to like this game. Nice and chill, but difficult.
But, as others have stated also, the game no longer works.
Just crashes in the menu upon launch.
Tried verifying game files, re-installing etc etc.
If you don't already own this and are looking to buy it... don't; wait until recent reviews show that it's working again.
EDIT:
I found a solution to the problem posted in someone else's review.

Go to settings>properties>betas and type in "tharsisforever" in the private betas box>select the new option in beta participation called "newbetas - for atrophy-related crash avoidance."
This fixes the crashing issue. Still no recommend until the Dev fixes the issue, but at least there's a workaround.
Truly enjoyable with decent replayability value.
A nice little game.
Basically Yahtzee in space, and failure to check off the board will mercilessly kill the crew.
Crashes too much. Almost everytime on menu....
Well, I was going to post a good review, but I re-installed the game and discovered it NO LONGER WORKS. Not only that, but the developers know it's broke, know how to fix it, and choose not to. Be aware when purchasing. Yes, you can fix it on your end with a batch file or something, but should you have to?
Challenging, dark, atmospheric, and it lets you eat people.
There's a lot to like about this game. Normal difficulty took me quite a bit to beat, and I will probably come back to this many more times until I beat the harder difficulties. The story line and voice acting are well done and add to the creepy atmosphere. The gameplay is mainly rolling dice and fitting them into slots for abilities, ship repairs, and other things, but it does require a good bit of thought and calculated risk. It's a great feeling when you realize your only option to survive is to re-roll the dice for a better roll and you get it.
Yes.
