The final love story on a dying planet.
In the near future, an ominous red star suddenly appears in the sky. Its presence is about to bring about the extinction of all life on Earth. The unified government proposes an evacuation project to take all of mankind into space, but in order to make the seemingly impossible project a reality, 'felixes' are brought into the world. Engineered to be highly intelligent with perpetual youth and longevity, the genetically modified superhuman felixes stand as humanity's only hope for survival.
Sion, the most gifted of the felixes, has been kept in a research facility built on a solitary island for the past hundred years. Her sole purpose, saving all of humanity. Ryou Haruna, a soldier from the Earth's unified government is sent to watch over Sion, who desperately seeks freedom from the military that's imprisoning her. Earth's last love story is about to begin.

A tale of the planet's final love story told using the full force of minori's critically acclaimed illustrative style, engaging musical compositions, and the highly talented staff that has led fans coming back for more every single time!
Eden tosses aside the traditional sprite and talking heads conventions used by many visual novels and instead employs a far more cinematic approach consisting of almost all event illustrations. Told using a widescreen resolution of 1024 x 640, eden promises a play-experience more akin to enjoying a movie than reading a book. We hope that this new approach to the visual novel medium provides a much more enjoyable experience for everyone.

very touching. english translation is superb too, detailed and beautiful cgs and art that is on par with the story
STORY:
Very moving, it is first and foremost an emotional journey, superbly well written and developed, about the protagonist, his relationship with those around him, their background story, and his eventual relationship with the main female character of the story.
The novel has strong background side stories and themes, such as genetic engineering, social instability, and interstellar travel, and I feel the story could have expanded on these themes, without detracting from the main story, and that could have helped explain certain elements of the latter better. It certainly leaves plenty of space for a future sequel, focusing in one of the side characters, though.
The ending is highly predictable, not helped by the prologue and the full game name which just happen to sum the ending up.
ARTWORK:
Sprites are stunning and magically well drawn, well posed, and animated to boot.
Tons of different CGs available, which are wonderfully and seamlessly well integrated into the flow of the story, and are also animated, to the point many it is hard to differentiate some of them out of a regular scene.
SOUND:
32 sound tracks that offer a ton of variety and are wonderfully composed and integrated to the flow of the story.
The Japanese voice acting is superb, including the male protagonist, a rather uncommon finding in a sea of VNs that omit the voice acting for the latter.
OTHER ISSUES:
The main issue with the game is its archaic UI, which works well enough but is not exactly user friendly.
Content such as CGs and music are only accessible off-story after its completion, I would have preferred if they were unlocked and immediately accessible as they appeared throughout story.
There is a R18 DLC. I do not recommend it though, as it does not integrate well with the main story at all, and just detracts from it, and its moving emotional experience.
SUMMARY:
Overall, a highly moving, even if predictable, novel, of high quality, and very well priced for the content offered. 9/10
Piggybacking on my Steam review of Muv-Luv Alternative:
Eden doesn't have quite as spectacular of world building as Muv-Luv, but it is a very clean narrative package with sci-fi flavor, thoroughly likable characters, fantastic OST, and stellar production value.
It's simple at its core; though you can certainly draw out "deeper" meanings to the literal ends of the Earth - there's still an elegance in that which is simple.
"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication" as it were.
Irrelevant Rambling
Figured I'd finally offer my public positive impression of something that's meant quite a lot to me over the course of the past 8 years.
sweet dreams, sion, and thank you.
Really cute and wholesome, gets a little boring by the end though.
"Good night, and thank you"
Truly a timeless piece!
Sweet dreams, Sion.
Our time together in this eden... would continue forever.
The user interface is abhorrent and the story is very, very boring.
It only took me half of an hour to ascertain that reading this novel was not worthwhile.
This is a beautiful story of two people learning to live and love life and each other despite having endured great difficulties.
It's tragic and it's beautiful. Tears will be shed.
This story is beautifully told in every way too - from visuals, to VA, to the OST.
