Just a fun logic game. If you like those, play it, it's great.
Hexcells Infinite
Hexcells Infinite by Matthew Brown takes the classical concept of the minesweeper and expands upon it, creating something enjoyable and more unique out of it.
The mechanics of the game are intuitive, and each time a new mechanic is introduced, it is done in a clear and understandable manner.
The levels slowly increase in difficulty, and can become moderately complexe or time consuming to solve — more than in the previous game — yet they remain within a relatively casual range.
The visual aesthetics of the game are clean, polished, and of good quality.
Hexcells Infinite is overall a good quality, more challenging, and enjoyable puzzle game from Matthew Brown.
Great game for listening to Spotify.
More fun puzzles with a chill vibe. The "infinite mode" is a bit addictive.
Amazing game, and the infinite mode is superior!
Hexcellent Infinite
I bought Hexcells, Hexcells infinite and hexcells plus 5 days ago, during the past 5 days my average daily playtime for these games was 6.1 hours. I didn't even know a game could be this addictive...
For the review - this is basically something of a mix between sudoku or nonograms, except you don't have to learn techniques like you do in sudoku. Hard puzzles sometimes take me 1-2 hours to crack so this game will not always be a walk in the park which is a huge plus in my opinion.
a fun not simple puzzle game
my brain hurts.
Like minesweeper, but you can use logic to avoid having to guess.
Clearly peak form - more difficult, with all the pros including low price retained, and now providing as well millions of generated puzzles AND user-created ones.
Its kind of the goat
hexagons will always be the bestagons for minesweeper
Endless random and daily puzzles
Minesweeper but cooler.
When you thought Hexcells couldn't get better... now you have infinite.
If you finished the first two games, this one is even better. It comes with a random puzzle generator and now people can do their own levels and share them in reddit
Genuinely a good relaxation game
And if you're also one of those people who needs to be doing something while watching yt or listening to music, I massively recommend this game ^^
I love this -2- D game
I'm reviewing my game based off the campaign.
Such a great game for what it's worth. This game is by far one of the best brain workouts I've ever given myself in a long time, and that's a title I don't give out fairly easily. The base premise of this game is simple, but it's done so effectively and it makes the game that much more engaging to play. I highly recommend buying this if you are looking to fry your brain (mainly meant in a good way), because Hexcells Infinite definitely helped do that job for me.
i love sweeping the six sided mines
Games great. Can play windowed. Puzzles are rewarding to solve. Great.
10-minute puzzles for a relaxing coffee break.
I bought the first Hexcells 6 years ago and wasn't drawn to it because I was too idiot to understand and enjoy this game. After 6 years later, I can finally understand why people love it so much. The rule (and also graphics) is relatively simple, but it's really fun to think which cell should I open next.
Hexcells Infinite is exactly, literally infinite because now the game can generate random levels. So, if you love Hexcells and Hexcells Plus, this is a must-buy game.
By the way, I really respect Matthew Brown, the developer. He has (almost) only released puzzle games. I've played Cypher before and this is also an interesting game. I can't imagine living as a puzzle game developer because I have no single brain cells.
It's a variant of Minesweeper games, where the grid is hexes instead of squares. Has a few additional mechanics that expands game play. And has an infinite number of puzzles, so you can keep playing this game long after other puzzle based games.
the puzzles are addicting
The game is good, but annoying:
Is it pretty? Yes!
Does it sound well with music and effects? Yes!!!
Is it interesting from a puzzle perspective? Yes!
Then why am I giving a thumbs down?
It's the overall out of puzzle game design choices.
The game gives you points depending on how many mistakes you did while solving a level.
There are only so many points per level and you only get those points once.
So far, so good. A good old unlock system as you slowly learn the rules.
However, you can't complete all levels without guesswork on your first try.
Starting on "world" 3, it seems memorizing the level layout and placing the answers without opening the board is a requirement at some point to complete any level there.
If we need a perfect play for all the points and the boards are not random, there is no reason to rely on memory instead of solving the puzzle at hand.... on the other side, if I know I'll have to play again for those unlocking points, I might as well just click the whole thing and memorize it without solving.
This has a lot of potential compared to the original minesweeper game and it shows a good way to extend playability over a classic.
But it also shows how game design decisions can turn a great idea into a frustrating chore.
I'll give a shot to the player created levels at some point and see if we find some proper minesweeper/sudoku designs.
great game
This game has Hexsold itself to me
Sudoku meets Minesweeper! Fantastic handcrafted logic puzzles that can all be solved with logic.
Interesting puzzle solver
My go to game when I've thrown on a podcast or some music and just want to relax.
The main game probably equals about 2-5 hours of my playtime, but its the infinite that I've happily sunk the other 800 hours in to. Here's to 800 more!
mm saperek
OMG I LOVE acting as if I'm an algorithm to solve stupidly hard infinity levels
This is my sudoku.
It's a logic based puzzle game. I've read it described as "Minecraft without the randomness." It fits a part of my brain where I like sussing out things without guessing and it's marvelous when things fall into place.
There are harder games like this out there. Tametsi is a great example. I beat this game and thought, "I want something BETTER! More! More Unique! Sometimes harder!" and, not gonna lie, Tametsi is an amazing logic game (I'm highly recommending it while reviewing another game...go figure).
But I've played this more than Tametsi now. The truth is: I don't always want the hardest, most crazy experience. There is a random game generator on here where I can just hop on, play a few puzzles, and hop off. It often hits that sweet spot where it's hard enough to keep my mind engaged, but not brain breaking. Sometimes I'll listen to an audiobook as I click through things.
I have seen some people complain that the game doesn't punish you if you make a mistake. They're right: It doesn't. Theoretically a two year old could just click randomly until they get it right. This would make the error count skyrocket, but the puzzle could still be solved.
This doesn't bother me. I enforce my own little ethos when I play the infinitely generated puzzles. If I make a mistake, I usually just exit, hit random, and start a new puzzle. If it was a misclick because of some dumb reason, I sometimes give myself the benefit of the doubt because I know it wasn't intended and soldier on. I don't need the game to regulate it as I regulate myself. So what? I'm playing it as an alternative to freecell, solitaire, or sudoku as I think about other things or want to puzzle through something. If my brain isn't in the right place, I just abandon the puzzle and do something else. There's literally more than I can finish in a lifetime, so it's not worth stressing over....and the game is what, $5 full price? Under $2 on sale sometimes? It's been well worth every penny in my case. I have 150+ hours, so it's cost me about a penny per hour. I'm spending more to power the computer than to own the game.
Excellent puzzle game. some of random infinite puzzles are unsolvable without guessing or I'm just stupid but overall if you are looking for advanced minesweeper don't look ay further than this
It is a fun game
I like this game, I like making a mistake then instantly realizing I was wrong and why I was wrong a mere second after I make it
Playtime: 21.9 hrs
I played the other games in the series, and it was nice that the dev kept adding new things to make the puzzles remain fun all along. I also like the overall graphics and hope the dev is still developing games.
One of my favourite puzzle games.
The difficulty curve worked well for me and the inclusion of both user created and seed generated content makes for a lot of variety.
It's Minesweeper with some extra quirks. It's neither especially novel nor especially disappointing. If you like this kind of game, you'll like this one too. If not, it's unlikely to change your mind.
The main puzzles are very cleverly put together. There are only 36 of them (including tutorials), but that still equates to plenty of time having fun puzzling away. The automatically-generated ones are a lot more dull and samey, which in turn makes the final achievement a pain to unlock.
Overall decent.
like minesweeper but with *hexagons*
Addicting. Well crafted puzzler.
I absolutely love this game. It has been my favorite puzzle game for a couple of years now, nothing has topped it. I love how it combines sudoku, minesweeper and many more classic puzzle interactions into one. The mechanics are incredibly emergent. I find myself playing my through the base puzzles again every couple of months, just to relax. The music is so calming. The best thing about it though: the community feature! There are some brillant minds out there that still continue to contribute new ideas to how this game can be played. I always get excited when there is a new reddit post about new user-made-levels. Can't fathom how brilliant you all are! Thanks so much for this game it has helped me through some tough times.
last achievement is just tedious and the main game isnt even that much better, just buy tametsi for a good minesweeper game
.
i am in AWE with how in depth this game can be. actually amazing puzzle design, only gripe is that most of my time playing im just sat there looking for the puzzles. i do love the smaller levels though
> You've played for 1098 hours
> Would you recommend this game to other players?
Excellent; it's easily one of best purchases I've ever made, it's campaign is fun but with endless mode... if you like puzzles you'll probably play this game forever.
It's like super-minesweeper.
