Good
this game is absolutely the purest form of perfection. One of my first games that i played when i was 12 years old with my uncle -> pure nostalgia. Sad that the next series were such a disappointment. Also try the other 2 DLCs. Can't go wrong with them. They are even an upgrade from this.

Having been a big fan of turn based strategy games I also wanted to give this 5th installment a try. Some of the reviews that I had read online actually pushed me away from this game but now after spending around almost 100 hours I kinda regret that stupid decision. I thoroughly enjoyed this game except some silly missions here and there. It can get nasty hard if you decide to take your time even on easy mode but if you're already somebody who's familiar with this type of game then I'm pretty sure at least normal difficulty should be more than easy for you. The only con so far I found in this game is sometimes it can get really hard like really really hard and near impossible to complete a mission but again for that you have online walk-through guides available especially the one from celestial heaven dot com by Psychobabble. Highly recommend it to all you high fantasy lovers. Peace out.

For those looking to play again... Works well without issues or glitches. Old school, but very clean and functional.
For first timers... If you want a turn base RPG city/army builder with a retro storyline you are all set here. The price is right and HoMMV does a good job taking the best from previous versions to give you a feel for the series. Hopefully you enjoy as many of us classic gamers have.

To me, best game in the series, even above III. I wish they would have remastered it with the DLCs so you can play with the 3rd variant of troops in the main story.

The Best of Seriers
One of the better Heroes games. Great for new players as the game mechanics are simplified compared to earlier iterations, with the added bonus of previews of fight difficulties. This is definitely the best version of the game for introducing to young children, as later versions get more complicated with storylines and specializations.
Played the game a lot with my dad when I was younger, so I was really happy to get it and play it again for myself this time. Probably one of my favorite games for the sentimental value and also it being an awsome game overall. If you,re looking for an amazin turn-based fantasy game with great storytelling I'd really recommend thi game.
a timeless classic
When I was in elementary school, I used to play this game on my dad laptop and I'm hooked/addicted to the uniqueness of the game. In a context of 2006 old game, I don't thing there's many game out there that combine base building, turn based map exploration, then when you enter combat mode it feels like you're playing chess. There's a lot of depth into this game since it has many races to choose from.
I came back not because of the nostalgic feels, but the game is literally that good even in modern era.
This game introduced + build my childhood and love for turn based games.

Trying to find the tear of asha is way to difulcult to find . you spend hours trying to find it and when you finally give up you can't move on to the next. This is bull shit
Very nostalgic
Great game, along with legendary Heroes III the best one in the series. Well balanced, addictive gameplay, plenty of content and fun campaign, good music, pleasant graphics. It also plays really well on Steam Deck with trackpads.
This is such a classic. I played it all those years ago at my uncle's house and really forgot about its name. Now playing it as an adult is quite scintillating. I'm really enjoying my time playing it.
Castrate me, mutilate me or even burn me at a stake, but HoMM V > HoMM III any day of the year. :^)
can't save game
Still an old favourite that gets pulled out every so often. One of my top 10 ever and I've played a lot of games. Don't concern about how old it seems, the game play is brilliant

I played countless hours and had even a game date with a girl and the winner should receive a nice price....I think she let me win...aw the memories!
Great HOMM experience. This game should be successor to HOMM 3. If you are a HOMM fan, you have to play this.
Love the game. The campaign missions are challenging but there is a glitch on the four campaign (Elves) mission #1 (The Refugees) where the demon army doesn't advance. I have played this mission twice with the same results so guess I don't get to finish the game...bummer
