About the Game

It feels its something wrong with my Kenshi copy
Nostalgia from all the way back in 2012
I honestly wish I could put a thumbs in the middle for this game, cause it isn't necessarily a bad game, but it also isn't that great of a game either. Some parts of the game have sort of odd and kind of bad design choices, and I found myself often hitting invisible walls where it felt unnecessary, especially since you're supposed to be able to drive where you want. Combat was fun overall, but I didn't realize that different trucks had different parts in shops(oops), and the economy system worked but was a little basic.
why every time I press load game it always dc?
the ammount of video games made by russians that are just "small indipendent bisness man participating in free market economy"-simulaters is just sad

I usually love old eurojank stuff such as this, but this one was apparently not meant for me.
I began a new game and quickly got a feel for the gameplay loop of driving to different towns, fulfilling quests, accompanying caravans, killing the enemy raider vehicles that would spawn nearby occasionally, and was starting to save up a small sum of money from quests and selling cargo, despite needing to spend a few hundred every few minutes to refuel and repair. I was hopeful I'd soon have enough for my first truck upgrade, and had even managed to loot a machine gun for my truck that was slightly better than the starting gun.
After some side questing, I returned my focus to the main story quest which required me to return home to father. I was quite low on health at this point, but there was a gas station right around the bend in the direction I needed to go, so I figured I could just flee from any raiders that happened to spawn nearby, like I had done a few times before. Then I could repair at the gas station and be fine.
But no. As I rounded the corner, a cutscene began. A scripted ambush. A bad guy tries to get me to pay him 1000 coins to pass through, and even though I did have the money, my character says no because it's just a cutscene. He orders his men to kill me and the cutscene ends. His vehicle and two other enemy gunners all spawn in right in front of me, and begin immediately shredding me apart. I die in seconds.
I figure, alright that really sucks but I'll just reload I guess. But wait...the only option was to begin a new game. I wondered whether this was meant to be a roguelike? I clicked it and it started from the very beginning, with the cutscene talking to father. I stopped it and just exited out of the game. I was nearing an hour of playtime in this game, and not once was there any quick saving or checkpoints or anything to let me know that all of my progress was going to be lost if I didn't manually save every few minutes. There may be some fun to be had in this game, but with this being my first experience I've completely lost all desire to play it again.
