Never got the thing to work on Windows 11. Disappointed because I really like it . Had it refunded no problem, much rather have the game... :-(
RCT3 just isn't as much fun... IMo...
Nostalgia mostly, but also is fun. I think it gives a good general overview on simplified principles of business as well, such as advertising, employee payroll, and achieving set goals.
Roller Coaster 2 is a classic game which is far better than newer versions.
nostalgia ! easy to play and have fun on but also challenging if selecting the challenges on load up. would reccomend
The best game that has ever been made, nothing has even come close in my heart. :,)
My playtime is much lower on steam than what it actually is due to me using OpenRCT2 which i have spent hundreds of hours in. Easily one of the best pc simulator games of all time. Its relaxing, fair but dose offer some challenges to the player, learning to master coaster building is one of the most rewarding feelings you can have.
Short Review: Rollercoaster Tycoon 2: Triple Thrill Pack is the sequel to a great game that replicates everything that the first one did well and improves it, adding more exciting content and new challenges that will truly bring the park manager inside you to life. This revision of the game adds the base game and the two original expansions for a mere 5 dollars, which honestly feels like a steal, not in a bad way, but rather because this game, just like its prequel, has a lot to offer and a high level of replayability.
Repeating myself from my RT1 review, its 2.5d graphics might be a bit archaic for today's standards but have aged fairly well and can be considered "retro" rather than "dated", specially in comparison to the 3D ones of the third installment.
There is a lot to do in this game and each park provides its own set of challenges that must be overcome in order to reach the desired goals, but as to how you do it, anything goes really, so you can take your sweet time to do it, even if there's a timer for it, don't stress yourself, cause this game is not meant for that but rather to relax.
This game adds what i desired the most in the first one, a Scenario Editor that, while archaic and a bit clunky to nagivate at times, it has it own charm and has a lot of functionality and customization to it, which really adds a lot of value over the first one. If you're looking for the nostalgia factor with quality of life features this installement of the franchise is for you.
Go, give it a try, and if you're not convinced grab it on sale. If you, for whatever reason, despise the 2.5d graphics of this game, go grab Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, see how badly it has aged in comparison (speaking of graphics, not gameplay).
Quick Review: 7.5/10
Buen juego una joyita me alegro ojalá lo trajeran con las expansiones , al fin lo tengo de forma legal tuviera como 5000 horas de este pto jueguito lo tengo en dvd físico que no sirve , cuando salió allá en los 2000's recomendado
is fun u build the rolling coasters
Still just as good as it was when it released 22 years ago. One of the best theme park sims of all time. Will destroy your sleep schedule, highly recommended.
Great classic game by Chris sawyer,
If you buy this make sure you look up how to download the mod for OPEN Roller Coaster Tycoon.
Bring a lot of improvements from the original from a fan base who definitely deserve the title “labour of love” for how much they’ve improved the game
Very fun and calming game to help pass the time! :)
RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 is not just a game—it’s a timeless masterpiece that defined what theme park management sims could be. It’s the kind of game you can play for hours and still feel like you’ve barely scratched the surface.
What I Love About It:
Endless Creativity
The game’s sandbox-style gameplay allows you to create parks limited only by your imagination. Want to build a massive, sprawling theme park with intricate coaster designs? Go for it. The customization options are incredible, from terrain editing to coaster building.
The Nostalgic Graphics
The pixelated, isometric visuals are iconic. They might not be modern, but they’re packed with charm and clarity. The style is clean, functional, and still a joy to look at, even years later.
Scenario-Based Gameplay
Unlike later entries, the focus on pre-made scenarios gives the game a structured challenge. Each park comes with unique goals that test your skills, keeping the gameplay engaging and rewarding.
Chris Sawyer’s Genius
The game was created by a single developer, and you can feel the love and care poured into every detail. It’s a pure passion project that stands out even in today’s gaming landscape.
The Community Mods and Custom Scenarios
Even years after its release, the game has a thriving fanbase that keeps it alive with custom content. From new scenarios to innovative coaster designs, there’s always something fresh to try.
Why It’s a Timeless Classic:
RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 is a perfect blend of creativity, challenge, and charm. It doesn’t try to overcomplicate things—it focuses on giving players the tools to build their dream parks while offering satisfying objectives.
Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5)
Whether you’re a long-time fan or discovering it for the first time, RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 remains one of the best theme park simulation games of all time. It’s a game that never loses its magic.
Chris Sawyers masterpiece. A timeless classic that will live in forever. Immortal graphics.
RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 holds a special place in my heart as my very first PC game, and it’s safe to say that it sparked a lifelong love for simulation and management games. Even after all these years, it remains a classic in the genre, offering countless hours of fun as you build and manage your very own theme park. While I’ve since moved on to more modern titles like Planet Coaster, RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 will always be a nostalgic favorite that continues to hold up as a timeless gem.
A First Step Into the World of Sim Games:
RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 was my introduction to the world of simulation games, and it made a lasting impression. The game offers a perfect balance of creativity and management, allowing you to design wild roller coasters, manage park finances, and keep your guests happy—all while dealing with unexpected challenges like staff problems, maintenance issues, and natural disasters. The intuitive interface and simple yet engaging gameplay made it easy to get into, and the deeper you got, the more rewarding it became.
Countless Hours of Fun:
The real magic of RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 lies in its replayability. Every time you start a new park, you’re presented with a unique set of challenges and opportunities. The variety of park themes, coaster designs, and scenarios means no two playthroughs are ever the same. You can spend hours designing the perfect coaster, tweaking park layouts, and experimenting with different strategies to keep your guests entertained and your profits soaring. Even after completing all the scenarios, the game’s sandbox mode offers endless opportunities for creative expression. However, it’s worth noting that the lack of a real campaign or mission objectives means the game is primarily just a sandbox experience. If you're looking for a structured progression system or specific goals, you'll have to create your own.
The Switch to Planet Coaster:
While I eventually moved on to newer games like Planet Coaster, RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 still holds a unique charm. Planet Coaster certainly pushes the limits of coaster design and park management with its stunning graphics and intricate mechanics, but RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 has a simplicity and nostalgia that can’t be replaced. The older graphics and less detailed mechanics might seem dated by today’s standards, but the fun factor remains unchanged, and there’s something irresistibly charming about the pixelated guests and low-poly coasters.
Sadly No Mods or Custom Content:
One downside to RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 is the lack of official support for mods or custom content. While the game does offer a lot in terms of built-in scenarios and park design options, there’s no easy way to add in your own creations or download mods from the community—something that modern simulation games like Planet Coaster offer with a robust modding community. This lack of customization is a bit disappointing for players who love the idea of expanding the game with new assets, like custom rides or user-made maps.
Limitation in Funds:
Another aspect that can be frustrating is the financial limitations. While you can borrow money from the bank to build your dream park, the amount you can borrow is often quite limited, making it difficult to expand or add expensive rides and attractions without running into financial trouble. This can be a bit restrictive, especially for those who want to create massive, intricate parks without constantly managing loans or worrying about going bankrupt.
A Timeless Classic:
RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 is a true classic that set the standard for theme park simulators. While modern games have improved on the graphics and mechanics, RCT2 still holds its ground in terms of fun and creativity. Whether you're an experienced fan or someone experiencing it for the first time, there’s something universally enjoyable about creating a sprawling theme park and watching it come to life.
Final Thoughts:
As my first PC game, RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 will always be a special part of my gaming history. While I’ve since moved on to more advanced simulators like Planet Coaster, this classic still brings back fond memories and continues to offer a fun, nostalgic experience. The lack of mod support, custom content, a real campaign, and the limited financial freedom can feel restrictive, but the core gameplay remains satisfying and timeless. If you're a fan of theme park simulators or just looking for a relaxing, creative game to play, RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 is a must-try.
Rating: 7/10
Sometimes I feel like a real tycoon....if only Chris S. could see me now. I don't even drown people anymore. I think I grew up....but this game is my childhood so it will always be perfect.
Always come back to this game for some solid nostalgia time. Always holds up!
Tons of parks to play and build
A great game that builds on another great one. Always enjoy playing it and coming back to try something different ever couple of years.
Cannot save game. It crashes when you attempt to do so. Steam support won't refund even with less than 20 mins on file, trying to figure out how to repair this issue. It's a known problem.
does not play
This is better now that I'm not a kid and its not the early 2000's, but even then it was great!
Classic, just like I remembered.
constantly crashes
how was this coded in assembly. Greatest game ever made.
It´s just like how I remember! I used to play this everyday as a kid and let it run during school hours on the family computer. I´d either get back to a lot of money made or my park rating had tumbled. Great memories! I like playing the scenarios again because as an adult I understand the mechanics better. A new layer of fun!
Great classic Theme park game.
So much fun!!!!
just look at what theyve taken from us. why cant we have nice things anymore
it is awesome!
Love it! Highly recommend OpenRTC2 mod installed alongside this game. works well on Ubuntu/Debian
this game made me realise i dont wanna be a park owner. Now my life is a bit clearer
Get OpenRCT2 with this game if you're playing it today! It does a great job at modernizing everything about it, while adding great QoL features!
This game is amazing, endless fun, endlessly replayable
.
Very nostalgic. Honestly, really good details considering the game is like 25 years old.
its fun and feels like your the inventor in real life but just on a site
Blinded a bit by nostalgia, but this is the premier tycoon-genre game. Good fun.
Just as great as I remember it being as a teenager-- a timeless classic!
Hell yeah
Classic!
This is a game that still holds up many years later.
its roller coaster tycoon 2 what more could you want?
I revisited the game after loving it as a kid and I still love it even now.
It has a decently in depth construction system for rides, a wide selection of scenarios that offer different challenges, a charming visual style and is just that kind of game I find far to easy to accidentally play for several hours more than I intend to.
Solid fun if you like building/management games. Or if you just want to torment guests... that's also an option. I won't judge.
The DLCs are... fine, I suppose. Lovely scenery options but too many of the added rides are just reskins of default ones which is a bit of a shame.
FUN
10/10 Would Recommend!
I seriously can't believe that this still, some how, hold up!
Subitos!
good game :)
yeah it's pretty good
