The only person missing is you, the brother of the bride, who is on your way from Stockholm, where you have defended the Union Jack in the noble art of fencing in the Olympics. You are to arrive later during the evening.
Sir Patterson is disappointed when the Count himself doesn't greet the family at their arrival, but still he lets the servants show them all to their rooms, without complaining too loudly. It is not until later--when the doors are slammed shut and locked behind them, that he realizes his mistake that they have become prisoners and are at the Count's mercy...
- Highly intense, first-person shooter, survival horror
- Enemies appearing shock style from everywhere
- A massive gothic castle with hundreds of rooms awaits your arrival
- The random architecture generator changes the layout of the castle and location of the characters every time you play
- Non-linear style game play, where different parts of the castle can be explored in whatever order you want
- Pick up and bring your foes down with classic vampire slayers like holy water, crucifixes, and wooden stakes or old-fashioned firearms like flintlock guns and muskets
- Some vampires can only be slain with specific weapons, which challenges the player's weapon tactics
- Spine-chilling scores and sound effects seamlessly orchestrated to keep you on the edge of your seat
- Eerie 3D-graphics with real-time lighting, grainy screens, fog, and mist to give you that classic horror feel

The concept of a fight aganist monsters and time to save your family is great but not done well here in my experience.Areas like it usually is with procedally generated maps repeat themselfs alot and make traversing quite dull and make you easily lost, combat is either easy or painfull due to enemies, their ai(the dfificulty options also range from easy to getting one tapped by light touches on max) and the lackluster hitboxes.Companion ai also forces you to babysit them and come near them nearly every time you get attacked by an enemy which is oh so great.James(the protagonist) movement suffers from ''protagonist cant sprint or do anything physical for 5 seconds'' syndrome and speaking of that companions have a tendency to hurt themselfs by jumping of high places so keep that in mind. All in all i tried to like this game but simply couldnt,i can at the very least give props to devs for trying something diffrent and at least making the atmosphere good.I bought the game cheap so i dont feel bad for buying it but i was hoping for something better than this
Solid game. Very simple, but also very fun, and it can be surprisingly difficult depending on RNG. Runs well on modern hardware, and there’s some degree of replayability due to the random item/NPC placement. Worth the money for sure.
great game!
good
wow i felt nosferatus wrath inside me 10/10
I LOVE KILLING PEOPLE
I'm going back & forth between feeling like this is a really really cool old-school horror experience with good replayability, & being frustrated at the incredible lack of cohesion.
First, I completely & totally explored every single possible side room at the beginning. I killed every monster, I literally touched every square inch of every possible area to its fullest, & could not locate the East Wing key. I probably went into each side room, Graveyard, etc 4 times each, all while trying the East Wing door every time I did a loop, & for some reason after the 4th time looping through every single area, touching every chest, every gravestone, everything, I suddenly had the East Wing key & was able to open the door. It made less than zero sense, & felt incredibly frustrating, like Water Temple in OoT frustrating.
So, I ventured into the East Wing with like 40 minutes left until Midnight, once again explored every inch of every area, wondering why the room with the furnaces & anvils didn't have any monsters or items at all, & found the East Wing Tower door. Of course I didn't have the key. Same ol, same ol. So, once again, I spent multiple loops of the area trying to find the key. Amongst the tons of empty chests, boxes you can't move or break blocking doors, & the smaller size of the area, it was very clear that I wasn't finding anything new in the East Wing either. I destroyed the Portal, & there's nothing in the room to collect. No drop for defeating an obvious "mini boss" type situation. I did EVERYTHING, & was still never able to figure out how to go further into the East Wing Tower. I looked it up, & everyone online says that the keys are supposed to spawn in the chests normally like the ammo & health items, but not once did I ever get any key, nor any message saying "East Wing key collected" like I did for the health, ammo & stakes. I still don't even know how I somehow got the key on my 4th loop even though I did the exact same motions I did 3 times prior. & right when I destroyed the Portal in the East Wing, I got a message saying my Aunt died because I wasn't fast enough, even though the walkthrough I checked said you're supposed to save the family physician in the East Wing.
Altogether, this game desperately begs for an upgrade, remaster, remake, something to tighten up the awful repetitive gameplay that plagues this otherwise beautiful, Gothic, horrifically disgusting game, because the game itself minus the repetition & confusion, does seem very ahead of its time. The controls, the speed of gameplay, it reminds me of an older version of Witch Hunt (if you haven't played Witch Hunt, GO PLAY IT RIGHT NOW). I very much cannot say this game is bad, because it isn't. It's like finding out a 4 star restaurant gave you a dirty fork with your beautiful Gordon Ramsay steak dinner. A really amazing experience hindered by one small thing that completely & totally ruined the entire game for me. This is the 2nd time I've given this game a shot, & the 2nd time I've ended up running in circles because the EAST WING KEY WILL NOT SPAWN. It's not that I'm missing a room, & suddenly find it & the key. I mean like I am literally revisiting the same rooms multiple times & on the 4th time, suddenly I'm given the ability to use a key that the game never told me I was given. I think an actual Inventory system would benefit this game quite a bit, like if you press "I" it brings up everything you have like keys, ammo, etc. You could also hold the extra health packs you find without them being auto used & wasted, or having to leave them until you need them. A really fantastic game hindered by older game design & limitations. If there was an Inventory, I at least could have had a visual indicator when I finally had the key. Then, again, the exact same situation repeated itself as soon as I got inside the East Wing. I wanted this game to be as amazing as it seemed when I started it up, but the awful "randomizer" & lack of visual confirmation when you have items, combined with not being able to stock health items or ammo, really really holds this game back.
I still recommend this game, simply because nobody else seems to be having the issues that I'm having. I did want to make it very clear, though, what you may be in for. Sure, everybody might say it's a "skill issue" but again, I literally repeated the exact same actions 4 times until I was just suddenly able to open the door. Not really a skill issue.
Cool gothic horror survival FPS with vampires and ghouls and gargoyles and shadow creatures and all that. Great aesthetic, great atmosphere, save often in case you get killed by a door. You will be escorting family members and yes they will get caught on stuff.
I felt the wrath
I was enjoying this terrible game until the crucifix was knocked from my hand and despawned which effectively ended my campaign. Thanks for wasting my time with this trash. 1/5
A janky, fun as Hell, horror, fps, dungeon crawler, roguelike. Pure SOVL. Perfect for the autumn season.
REALLY FUN!!!
A great hidden gem of a game. It's a shame the difficulty is so low you can beat it in 5 hours.
It breaks my heart to give this game a negative review as I remember playing it as a kid somewhere in the middle of 2000s and being so, SO scared of it. It's quite funny to think about it now, almost 20 years later. Point is, this game was legitimately terrifying back then. One of the most immersive games I've played at the time. All that being said, it didn't age well. Here's why:
1) Modern compatibility. Moreso, the lack of it. The game performs poorly on both Windows 10 and Windows 7. As a result, you get bugs, so many bugs. Frequent crashes, too. I even managed to get softlocked at the final boss. Isn't that a delight?
2) Frustrating game design. First, saving system. There's no autosave feature. You have to remember to save manually, and you have to do so frequently because of aforementioned bugs and crashes. Steam Cloud isn't supported so if you delete your game, your save file will be gone. Second, companions AI. The companions, your family members, are the most frustrating part of the gameplay loop. Getting them from point A to point B is a chore and, often, isn't even worth it. They get stuck, hurt themseves on the way and straight up refuse to follow you whenever there's a monster nearby. The last one is intentional game design, my guess is to make the game longer and, in some regard, harder, but it comes off more annoying than difficult and makes the overall fast paced gameplay less fun.
3) Vague instructions/objection. You're supposed to save your family, but you'll have to figure out how yourself. The castle is huge and random, and it's very easy to get lost. Plus, you're always on the timer. After a few unsuccessful tries, I had to consult a guide just to progress the game. I doubt I could do that at the time this game was released.
In the end, I just can't recommend this game. I still think it's one of the most immersive old games I've played, the sheer atmosphere of the abandoned gothic castle is incredible, given the limited resources developers had. It's just a shame it didn't age all that well. No matter, I'm glad I have an opportunity to own this game on Steam.
You stake Vampires and Demon and finally get more than enough bullets to last the whole game! It's fun but physics will be your biggest enemy.
This game breaks subverts your expectations by having the vampire invite you into HIS home for a change. Real groundbreaking stuff.
