doesnt auto save and crashed frequently.... super sucks losing everything all the time
I can't even open it anymore, game fell off... L
i don't think there is a game i could possibly endorse more than this one. i've literally been playing it since before i could properly read what half the menu said.
great, nostalgic
This game still slaps, all these years later. I probably have over 200 hours outside of steam from 2004 and on.
good game
fire
fun game
This game was my first computer game, I played it when I was really young and it was super awesome. I would spend hours building Roller Coasters and improving my park.
The story mode of this game is fine and teaches you the basics and how the game works. But sandbox mode is the best part of the game.
I would also build a lot of pools and malls. It's such a fun game to screw around in it. To this day I still come on here and build random parks and still have a super awesome time.
I would highly recommend this game if you love theme park simulators!!!
A 10 out of 10 for sure!
RCT2 Is much better. This game has poor organization, and in a strange way the graphics feel worse. I reccomend buying RCT2 instead but there is fun to be had here it just dont feel seamless and smooth like it should.
nice way to get away from the stressful games and have fun.
It will remind you of a simpler time.
I've had this game on here for almost 2 decades and it still works with no modifications, it just works
All i can say is how much joy this game brings because of the nostalgia it brings with it. it was a great game when i was a kid and it still is.
This is going to be a strongly positive review but please forgive me if I vent my frustrations first.
1) The weighting on ride popularity is SO thrill ride and coaster biased. The gentler rides IRL appeal to different people and the failure in game to recognise this is SO frustrating.
2) Your rides break down more often and get less popular over time and the only way to deal with it is to demolish them and replace them, in theory, with exactly the same ride. Horrible mechanic.
3) The devs interleaved the Water and Wildlife expansions apparently at random into the original game. This means that some of my parks have entirely inappropriate swimming pools solely because swimming pools are a big earner. I haven't even started on the animals yet although Flamingo Land in North Yorkshire is a real life combination of Theme Park and Zoo.
4) So much of what is in the game is invisible in effect. What difference do different path surfaces make ? What difference does how much extras you put in drink and food make (to costs and prep time,) and isn't "user's choice" the default ? If not, why not ? The game tells you nothing. What does adding music do ? How do you make your rides more exciting ? Generally no idea although coasters get their own additions and decorations make a significant difference.
5) A lot of the game involves trying to build long, complex and exciting rollercoasters in small tight spaces. Buying expansions to the land isn't as simple as clicking on an adjacent piece of land and paying the money.
6) Some people have built amazing constructions using the game but building anything is very fiddly. Trying to put a roof on a building is up there with Dark Souls.
7) Research is irritating. You get randomly assigned new stuff whether it's scenario appropriate or not. I get "custom shops" in entrepreneur (campaign) mode without being able to do anything with them. You get sunglasses stores and sheriff balloons when you'd really like a coffee shop. There are only stalls, no designable restaurants. Do I really need more paths ?
8) Any paths above ground level cost a fortune and only refund a fraction of their cost if you have to change something. Since altering path height isn't the easiest this is VERY annoying.
9) What do security do ? In this version they seem pointless.
So why the positive review ? Because theme parks make people happy and there's something joyous about creating a park to fill it with happy peeps.
Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 marks three major differences from the earlier editions. Firstly the people are more human than the cartoon like earlier games. Secondly, and this is a HUGE boon, scenario objectives aren't failed by not doing things in a particular time. To be honest this is indescribably better than the frustrations from Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 where you'd have to restart an entire scenario because your park didn't have enough people in it at game year 4. Finally, and this is as brilliant as it sounds, you can use coaster cam to ride your own rides.
There are other differences - visitors are no longer killed by crashing rollercoasters which I regard as a good thing but contrary to minority opinion Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 is a major improvement on the earlier editions.
Yeah, 2006 graphics aren't THE best - but the game should run like a dream on any current hardware. See the videos made by fans for what can be achieved. The Popmaster rollercoaster was amazing.
But this is a huge amount of fun to play and even in the scenarios there's a lot of freedom in what to do. Pick up the Complete edition in a sale (this version no longer exists) and you'll get what even today is a hugely pleasurable toy box for your money.
And Planet Coaster ? I've played it. Whisper it softly but this is better. Firstly Planet Coaster wants you to free draw Roller Coasters ? Where are all my snap to fit pieces ? Their designs are so complex I couldn't even work out coaster entrances and exits. And their people are far more pedantic about beauty. Any dull patches - negative scoring. Here people are just grateful for whatever they get.
I've just reviewed a "dead" game. In my wildest dreams some dev reads it and takes it to heart. But generally ? Very good work everyone. Very strong recommendation - despite the vents.
S.x.
my favorite game!
Classic tycoon game. The career mode is challenging but not impossible. Plenty of help online if you get stuck. Overall very happy with the Platinum version and I'm glad I sank as many hours as I have throughout the years. Highly recommend!
this is not worth the money, the ones before, yes, this one no, too complicated to set entrance and exits. and try to build your own....wow, REALLY bad
Rollercoaster goes brrr
This game is the best game I have ever played on a computer and my rating is 5 stars no matter what
