Cannot get the game to run properly on Windows 11. The resolution defaults to 640 and no matter what keyboard key I press no options pop up allowing change of resolution, no help on controls.
fun! when i wasnt wishing i was dead with the ghosts
Dark Fall is a solid point-and-click horror adventure game. It has mostly good puzzles, utilizing the standard adventure game logic of it's time. There are a few standout puzzles reminiscent of Riven, and a few puzzles that struggle with the technological limits of the program. There is maybe one puzzle that makes no sense.
This is an indie game from 2002, so reflect on what that means for it technologically. Movement areas can be aggravating and the soundscape is somewhat limited. However, the voice acting is surprisingly abundant.
I'd say the scare factor is maybe 1 spooks out of 5. The atmosphere is probably more eerie than outright scary. Of course, it would be hard to make a terrifying point and click game to start with, movement being like controlling the Mars rover and all. Aside from that, the story is generally interesting and well-written. Part of the bouquet of the game is a nostalgia for WW2-era England.
Game is hot caca
This is a low-budget and poorly aged point-and-click puzzle adventure game from 2002, but it actually feels like it's from the early 90's because of its primitive technical development; therefore, it's so antique to play in 2024.
I would recommend this only to hardcore Myst-like lovers. I really enjoyed exploring and solving puzzles but there did come a time where I wasn't sure exactly what I had missed. This is why I've picked up, dropped and restarted this game multiple times before I managed to push through it. I really did enjoy keeping notes and trying to figure out the mystery.
But like I said this isn't super accessible so if that doesn't deter you and also you don't mind some dated graphics then I would recommend this.
