What is this game?

Flockers is a Lemmings inspired game that takes on more of an action management route rather than careful strategic execution. That is to say this game is not similar beyond the basic control scheme, and should thus not be treated as such when buying.

Achievement hunting

Most achievements are related to general completion (getting 3 stars and golden sheep), or having your sheep die brutally a few hundred times via various means. None are that difficult, though doing 60 levels until you get 3 stars seems awfully tedious and repetitive.

Overall opinion

Flockers offers an experience that tries to be Lemmings, but more action packed and full of bloody carnage.
Whilst they succeeded in the latter, Team 17 did a poor job of making an actual strategy game. There is almost no point in this game where I would say I actually had a fun time, as you constantly get punished for making the slightest mistake. Oftentimes it's not even clear what's being done wrong, as the camera barely pans out enough to cover 20% of the map, and the art style tends to obscure what is actually in front of your sheep. Adding to this, there's tons of buttons that, when activated, instantly kill half your flock because you... didn't anticipate that I guess? It feels like a cheap "gotcha!" most of the time as the devs inherently make obtuse level design, expecting the player to play the same level over and over again until they understood every nook and cranny.

Seeing a flock get brutally slaughtered is funny at first, but quickly loses its charm as every scream denotes a clear mistake, and in turn restart, of the level you just spent 2-5 mins progressing through. Considering there's 60+ levels with this same style of design, you'll be spending hours restarting to get even a shred of dopamine from... beating a game you don't enjoy? It seems awfully counterintuitive as the most you'll get from it is some skins for your sheep. The fact you see all items available before even the first "boss" (tractor with sawblades) really just adds to the utter blandness of progression.

Overall this game just feels like a troll heavy mess that throws out strategy most of the time, and in return just wants to see the player suffer as they slog through each level, in a fruitless attempt to finish an already boring experience. I bought this game on sale, but still feel ripped off.

Incredibly unforgiving and tedious.

Should you buy it?

No.

It feels horrible to control the game with the mouse even after adjusting the sensitivity.

The gameplay isn't great either. The level design is more like an action game like others have said.

You need to time things correctly to avoid hazards & you can't give commands while paused.

I played a few levels & I'm not going to put myself through the pain of completing the entire game.
