Starting from procedurally generated terrain with dynamic AI encounters, Stonehearth combines community management and combat with infinite building possibilities. It’s designed to be moddable at every level, from your city to the people and creatures inhabiting the world, and will ship with the tools and documentation for you to add your own customizations to the game, and share them with friends.
Build and Grow Your City
The heart of the game is city building and management. When you're just starting out, you'll need to juggle tasks like obtaining a sustainable food supply, building shelter, and defending your fledgling settlement from raiders and other threats.
Once you've achieved a foothold in the world, it's up to you to write the destiny for your people. You have the flexibility to choose your own path in this game. Do you want to build a great conquering empire? A vibrant trade city? A spiritual monastery? We really want you to feel like this is your settlement, and give you the tools that make it look and operate exactly as you wish.
Level Up Your Settlers
All the settlers in your towns have jobs. A job is like a class in a role playing game. Each job has a specific role like hauling materials, building, crafting, and fighting. As your hearthlings work at a job they will gain experience and levels. Some jobs, when they meet certain prerequisites, can upgrade to entirely new jobs with new capabilities.
Usually, to assign someone a new job you'll also need to craft a tool for them. The Mason can craft blocks, statues, and tools from stone, but to do it he'll need a mallet and chisel crafted by the carpenter. Our goal is to have a job tree that's both very wide and very deep, so there will be plenty of different kinds of things to do in the game, but also a lot of depth to explore if you want to concentrate on any one area.
Player Driven Legacy Through Modding
We LOVE mods and want to make it as easy as possible to author and share mods.
Want to see a new kind of sword in the game? You can model it, define its stats, and then craft it in game. You can also share the design with other players so they can enjoy it too, or bring their authored content into your game.
As a modder you’ll be able to do basically anything that we as developers can do: introduce new items and monsters, write new scripted adventures, influence the AI, you name it. It goes back to that original pen and paper RPG experience, where “the game” is a collaboration between the core ruleset and the stories crafted by the gamemaster.

Sadly a dead game, I remember when I bought this in early access and there were millions of things promised that didn't happen with the game.
I enjoy this game a lot. Only thing I don't like is my computer gets very bogged down after my settlement is several hours old.
So incredibly fun. But has one main problem. Is horribly optimized and will eat all the memory it can. I love this game, Have for years. If someone somewhere had the time to try fix the code somehow someway and fix the memory leak etc this game would be so much better. You would be able to actually build big cities. Grab it if on discount. Its fun, expecially with the mods and the blueprints from others. But be prepared to lag about 30min-3 hours in. Hot tip is press f5 every now and then. And save then exit and load back in to somewhat manage it
They already abandoned the game it a dead game has no update and a ton of bug and randomly magical crash it might fun in early game but it not last long until the game crash so do not buy it
I got thinking about Stonehearth after writing some reviews for other games I'm conflicted about. Stonehearth is a warm and cosy colony sim with simple but satisfying building tools, great ambience, and just enough variety in craft and furniture to prevent boredom but avoid overwhelming menus of stuff.
But the game is completely and utterly busted.
I haven't even been able to get it to work with ACE, to be honest, and while that's probably down to my impatience... I shouldn't have to set up mods to play a game for longer than an hour. Why does it feel like every other game I take a fancy to needs me to sit down and spend an age just getting it to run well?
Yay:
- The vision of the game itself is wonderful, and if you're a fan of city builders and sandbox games where you can just potter about building for your sweet little hearthlings to live and work in, you'd enjoy the 2 hours of gameplay you get before a crash.
- Style is adorable.
- The music is chill and pretty cute.
- There's a little bit of combat and story in the game to add a bit more depth to the gameplay, but nothing too intrusive.
- Credit where its due, there has been a lot of graft put in by ACE to get it working for folk. Maybe you'd have more luck than me getting it functional? Because it is, admittedly, a cracking game when it works.
Nay:
- If you're like me and simply could not figure out, or could not be bothered, to get it set up properly with mods / system adjustments, you'll get about 2 hours of playtime before you need to reset everything because you've got errors coming out of your nose.
- We're never going to see the game in a polished state.
- The tools, while simple, can get finicky to use for more complex builds, and it can be hard to adjust your camera to see what you're doing.
- You'll probably regret spending the money eventually.
[*]You'll forever wonder about what this game could have been, which sucks.
All in all…
I've pretty much sequestered this game to my 'Broken' folder so that every time I search for it, I get a reminder to my future self about what I've got to look forward to once I build something grander than 4x4 house, or when I dare to invite an extra hearthling to my settlement.
By the sounds of things, Stonehearth's development (or lack thereof in the end) was a hot mess, and the game reflects as such now.
A game abandoned by Radiant. Even though it's out of early access, the game's performance and contents say otherwise.
Game constantly breaks, your hearthlings(citizens) constantly idling despite having a compatible task queued up, and poor performance despite a beefy rig.
The first hour is usually fine, fun even. But after that the game will start breaking, requiring you to unstuck your hearthlings or reload the game to get things working again
This game by no means playable, yet it is here, out of early access. Without many promised contents met in their stretch goals.
I say avoid
This game is like Ark: survival evolved, the idea is great, but the execution is terrible and it has two main problems:
1 this game is not finished nor optimized, you will need a NASA computer to be able to run it with more than 15 people in your ''town''
2 The information about how to interact with the game is not provided to you and the game design dosen't make you learn essensial things for your people to survive properly
cube
PEAK but lags after 40 people
It's developers dont care about the game anymore
It's so underdeveloped its insane that even 1 mod can make this game so good.
But because of the bad optimisation it results in low FPS (~40), while my CPU aint being used more than 30% and my GPU not more than 20%
Something like a cross between Minecraft and a city builder, I adore this game. Been following it since beta. You can see by the 331 hours I've clocked in, I love every second of this game.
dead abandoned game
Fun wholesome game
really fun to play and i like the mechanisms of the game. would love to see more games like this come out. the multiplayer is a plus.
Sadly a game with great potential, abandoned by the devs.
I saw a few reviews saying the game was bought out from the original devs. But whether that is true or not. The game has been ripped of the hope it once held as it is now reduced to a passive cash cow for whoever still owns it and has zero intention in developing it further.
For the few modders and creative builders who still bother with the game, I wish you luck and all the best.
Devs abandoned game - only good with ACE mod - buy cheap if you can but dont buy at full price
Fairly simple game, though quite a bit of fun. not perfect, but great for hours of fun if you've the patience. the mods can add a lot to the game a well.
this game is abandoned like a orphan by developers. but community adopt game with ACE
Ive tried every solution, this game use to work on windows 10 and now not anymore. Its so sad I can't enjoy this game without random crash or freeze. I really hope they make a more stable version of this game and more content. Ive tried low graphics, ive tried 32 bits force and compability window 8 and 7, ive tried no mods and with. Ive tried with the code. I give up. Unfortunately there no game like this. Don't bye this game.
Nice little game with the options of either it being hard or a cakewalk. I like that. You can build different designs of buildings and such, or just use the pre-made blueprints. There aren't a huge variety of resources, but there is a wide variety of things you can make. The little storyline missions that crop up from time to time are a nice touch too. 8/10 from me.
rly good game had issues on startup there are community guides that shows how to fix that
Normally I would greatly recommend this game, sing its praises on high to my friends but the Devs dropped it....
This isn't a moment where it had dropped just due to a product being released that had minor flaws that could be fixed with a game restart or even with just avoiding the moment like the plague but no, this isn't avoidable nor is it something that would technically destroy your computer. Once you reach a point, be it your population is over 6 or the amount of time put into the game, your little buddies will no longer eat not only that but there's also a chance for them to no longer wanting to gather resources nor do anything except for just standing around. This issue has been known by the community ever since the game was given up but the fan base can only do so much with mods. This is a really great game, it is cute, well thought out and something I wish other games would do again in the future but I am still stuck holding out for it. Great game just let go too early.
Abandoned
Stonehearth is a somewhat unique colony sim game in its own weird way, but you could easily sink hours into it without realizing it. Be warned, though, that the developers stopped supporting it years ago. Thankfully, the modding community has kept it alive all this time. I would say if its a sale and you dont mind modifying the game files just to get the thing to run its worth it.
DO NOT BUY ITS IS A DEAD GAME MAKERS SADLY ABEDENDED AFTER TAKE OVER
it was a fun game untile ther was a bug so you cant play it any more
could have been great but the dev team gave up and sold themselves out
game used to work but it doesnt even boot up anymore. , but abandoned.
sadly abandoned some years ago
Ever play Minecraft and wish you could find a good mod to turn it into a city / colony builder game? Meet Stonehearth. Was abandoned by devs, yes; but the modding community especially ACE is going strong and makes the game worthwhile.
Amazingly cute game kept alive soley by its amazing community. I personally love the game, but suggest adding the A.C.E mod pack after installing and checking out the latest comunity comments, as there are a few game breaking bugs that the community has gotten around. might have to run the game before getting the modpack, but its worth it
I've only played Stonehearth with the ACE Mod, which is serving as the de facto update/patch system for the game. This is the ultimate cozy game for me. It has some UI and gameplay quirks which can sometimes cause difficulties, and it sometimes doesn't run the best, but the base mechanics are sound, the atmosphere is incredible, and in my opinion there is a surprising amount of replayability.
Great game with massive potential, but abandoned.
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. The Devs got bought out by Riot Games in March of 2016. Riot killed all production of this game They moved the devs to other projects. This game was great when it was under Radiant Entertainment and it had GREAT potential.
I REPEAT DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Took my money and ran away with it, doesn't even launch.
This game has always had the potential to be amazing, but the settlers unfortunately don't know how to follow instructions so half of your playtime will be used to try and troubleshoot why they aren't building things and why once they're done building, they leave scaffolding all over it. And half the time you try and assign a building to be constructed, you can't because fuck knows why. It just flashes red and says you can't build it there but it doesn't explain why.
Game got bought by a company that then abandoned it, feels bad cause this game had awesome potential, current state leaves it extraordinarily hard to run and buggy as all hell, maybe pick it up for $10 at most if you're still interested, but just know that it is a pretty hollow shell even with ACE mod
a really cute game, sadly abandonned. but the modding community was allowed to continue the game and ACE (the main mod) is making great progress.
i kinda recommend it, but only if you are patient. the game can be slow, poorly optimized but has great potential, and in vanilla as well with mods has a lot of replayability with multiple cultures and biomes to choose from.
a really special game !!
Great game at its heart.
Terribly coded trashware abandoned by its devs with MAJOR performance issues
Its honestly disgusting they're still selling it in its current condition
Very fun, dose have a few bugs and you need a minimum of over 12GB of RAM to run for two hours
It's fun
very fun but also very laggy
Fantastic game, lots of fun and re-playability
abandoned game.
crashing problems and the game will never be fixed lol. the ACE discord server has some information to fix crashing but it'll probably never fix it 100% for me. otherwise this game is my favourite game ever and it makes me so happy playing it. i havent been able to find a game close enough to it to switch to yet. stonehearth is a unique experience you wont get anywhere else, and the modding community and content they produce is amazing. the crashing makes it hard to recommend tho.
The game HAD massive potential but the devs abandoned it in a half finished state, it will break down eventually and you won't be able to continue your world. Do not buy this game, it is sadly dead.
Stonehearth is an amazing game that had so much potential. The gameplay and amount of freedom is great. Due to it not being completely optimized, the mid to late game does become unstable.
The biggest thing that people need to understand about this game is that it was not intentionally abandoned by the devs, they were bought out and forced to move onto other projects. So don't expect updates. However there are mods, ACE in particular, that aim to build on what the devs did and optimize the game to run better, but something run by the community only goes so far.
If you are willing to deal with the mid to late game problems, it is a great game that is still fun to play, just not every run is going to go well.
Game had fantastic potential, but has been abandoned. The game used to work but it doesnt even boot up anymore, ACE Mod or not.
is good
wont let me start up the game
The ACE mod is essential. God, how I wish this game had been developed more. It could have been better than Going Medieval. It's a slow burn, but you really get to care about your little hearthlings.
