About the Game
Explore an abandoned building, encountering puzzles and clues as the story unfolds. You seem to have been there so long that direct sunlight is blindingly bright, at home in the serene but foreboding atmosphere. When you sleep, you are plagued by nightmares, frantically running down hallways chased by darkness, an axe in hand.Find the remnants of the building’s inhabitants to discover who you are, what happened, and what you need to do, as you try to escape in both your nightmares and the waking world.
Homesick is a puzzle exploration mystery game with a first person perspective, in a richly detailed and atmospheric 3D environment.

Dust hangs in the air, ethereal light streaming through paneless windows, casting deep shadows in the hollows of cracks in weathered wallpaper and burning your weary eyes. Your vision is hazy, but your mind is hazier. Nothing makes sense, and you're overcome with a crippling fatigue that weighs upon your body. Shielding your face from the blaring gleam you begin to assess your surroundings, hoping to recover the shards of your fractured memories.
While initially unassuming, Homesick is part puzzle game, part political commentary, alluding to the environmental and social implications of economic expansionism and bureaucracy.
While elegantly designed, and graphically stunning, there are certain areas in which this title falls short, namely:
STUFF THAT MADE ME GAMESICK
- Your base movement speed is painfully slow.
- Some elements can feel clunky, underdeveloped, or poorly signposted.
[*]The entire game will only take a few hours to complete, at odds with the asking price.
I did enjoy decoding the game’s cryptograph (I’ve written the title of this review in an approximation of the cryptograph, look at this tryhard), and overall the experience was rather satisfying, though the puzzles as a whole tended to be rather rudimentary. I would have completed the game in half the time with the option to sprint, as backtracking became rather an excruciating and time-consuming venture by the end of the game. An innate bias towards word puzzles forces my hand to bolster this game’s score a lil.

game bugged out on me in second area nightmare. the area where i was supposed to go to break the door wasnt lit up so i was stuck there and gave up.
Not bad but not amazing. Story was building up but fell too predictable and flat in my opinion. The idea is interesting though, and I respect how the gameplay was executed. The payoff simply wasn't enough for me.
Beautifully made and very atmospheric. The hints are scarce alas and mostly vague. I quit at the piano puzzle. OMG that was so badly designed. It doesn’t have to be a frustrating experience. At least a hint system would have been nice. Moving through the game is also incredibly slow. It is just not for me. I like Portal, Talos, The Room games and such. This could have been so much more.
Unfortunately, any puzzle game I need to look at a guide for twice within the first 15 minutes - just to find things that should have been obvious - isn't my cup of tea. There's probably a good story to be unlocked here, but even as a veteran puzzler, it was more frustrating than fun. Your mileage may vary.

I should've written a review for this ages ago. I really love this game. I love the visual design, I love the "quiet" story telling, and I love the sombre, yet somehow comforting, atmosphere. The music in particular is wonderful and I regularly listen to the score in my free time, it's especially nice for falling asleep.
If you like games that are reflective and meditative, you'll probably like this.
Loved this game. The story, the pacing, the ending, it's not an overall dragging experience and has a bittersweet feeling to it. The puzzles sometimes are harder to crack if you're just looking for a leisure game, but rewarding when you realize what you need to do. 10/10.
Well this was an interesting game - a walking puzzle solving game. You wake in a dilapidated room with no inkling as to why you are there and what is going on. I think it becomes clear very quickly that are likely dead and there are things to solve. I think what this game struggles with is direction. I understand the desire to not direct the player and to have them purely discover, but they need a reason to discover, some form of impetus beyond 'I am playing a game therefore there must be purpose'. Other than that though the game, whilst very short, left me with a little intrigue as what happened there so for me was worth the play-through.
