The United States has a military presence in two-thirds of countries around the world, and some of them have had enough. A group of terrorists calling themselves The Engineers initiate a terror ultimatum called the Blacklist - a deadly countdown of escalating attacks on U.S. interests.
Key Features
Operate without Restrictions
Sam is back in his tactical suit and goggles, and he’s more lethal and agile than ever. Granted the freedom to do whatever it takes to stop the Blacklist, Sam flies from exotic locales to U.S. cities as he races against the clock to find out who’s behind this devastating threat.
Own Your Play Style
Splinter Cell Blacklist builds on the stealth roots of the franchise, while exploring new directions to embrace the realms of action and adventure. Players can define their personal play styles and be rewarded for those choices.
Ghost players want to remain undetected.
Assault players rely on instincts and frontal blow to deal with a situation.
Panther players look for lethality in the most efficient and silent way.
Tools of the Trade
Take down The Engineers by using new gadgets such
as the upgraded Snake Cam and Micro-trirotor Drone. Splinter Cell Blacklist is also bringing back fan-favorites like the Sticky Shocker and the brutal, curved Karambit knife. Fans of stealth will be happy to make the most of Sam’s sneaking abilities to abduct and carry enemies, while Killing In Motion allows the player to strike with surgical precision by marking and executing multiple enemies in one fluid motion.
Build a New Echelon
Sam is building a whole new Echelon unit; his team, his way. Anna “Grim” Grimsdottir is his technical operations manager, CIA operative Isaac Briggs brings additional firepower, and resident hacker Charlie Cole rounds out the crew. 4th Echelon is a fully mobile ops unit with unlimited resources and cutting-edge technology aboard the re-purposed stealth airliner, the Paladin.
Enjoy a Fully Integrated Experience
Sam and his team are aware of terrorist attacks in real time thanks to the Strategic Mission Interface (SMI). The SMI allows 4th Echelon to receive data about mission objectives while on the move. With the SMI, players can take advantage of the universal game economy system that allows players to fully customize and upgrade Sam, his suit, goggles, weapons, the Paladin and much more.
Spies vs. Mercs Returns
Spies vs. Mercs is back with an new take on asymmetrical gameplay. Players will be able to face off in teams of 4 all the while creating their very own Spy or Merc according to their playstyles via thorough customization elements. The original Classic Spies vs. Mercs experience also makes its long awaited comeback for the fans.

The game itself is decent - I've played it before. But it's a disaster now. Ubisoft Connect is terrible, making it unnecessarily difficult to just launch the game.
Story is only available and replayable content as well. But no way to get DLC if you bought the bundle. If you wanna play strictly the story: just go into the game's properties, advanced launch options and copy and paste this:-offline -offline_mode
You will play the story with no issue. But it is only the story as they basically disabled uplay and the multiplayer aspect for no f'ing reason. Other than that: solid game, tbh.
The game itself is great, but Ubisoft remains insistent that I re-input my password every time I launch the game. Mind you, I already have "Remember Me" toggled on Ubisoft Connect, but for some godforsaken reason, it doesn't actually work. Even when you DO finally get in the game, the servers have been shut down, so you have to use a 3rd party private server tool just to play coop. Ubisoft is the worst game company.
The game is tagged as having multiplayer, but the multiplayer servers have been shut down for a while - there is no multiplayer. A shame, because the MP was really good back in the day
The game is pretty fun but yeah it totally crashes like every 20 minutes. It's honestly not that bad cause there's a lot of checkpoints and loading into the game is really fast. There are those missions where there are no checkpoints though and it's just like one compound and that can get a bit annoying.
All in all, it's a decent game but it does in fact crash every 20 minutes
i used to love the game but holy. the PC port is not good. crashed instantly when i launched it for 20 mins straight. froze my PC (i have a brand new PC with a 4080 super in it) when i fixed the crashing the fps for the game was attrocious. waste of 30 bucks. its a shame because i loved this game on console.
I got this as part of a bundle, because The first few Splinter Cell games were great. However, this one is unplayable console port garbage. It's not the same style any more. Sam felt clumsy and severely limited instead of the lethal tech-ninja that he used to be. Not gonna lie, I only played for about an hour, but I just couldn't get into it as a fan of the series. The dumb console-style checkpoint system means it's harder to try different approaches. Not that the game gives you as many options for stealth vs loud like there used to be. There's also still a bug that intermittently makes you lose all keyboard control, meaning you need to kill the process and start the level over. They've also added an economy meta game that you need in order to do upgrades.
dont waste your time. ubisoft connect is garbage, and you cant even get your ubisoft games to open, even if you have the connect app and have linked your account. how tf is ubisoft not bankrupt yet? dont tell me that clown show R6 seige is still carrying these dogs after 10 years.
Splinter Cell Blacklist has a great story, allows the player to choose between action-packed or stealthy gameplay, and (relatively short) missions take place all over the world. You work with cool gadgets that give you an advantage over your enemies, such as drones, sleeping gas, and electric shockers. The environment is beautifully designed and allows you to approach your goal in alternative ways.
Bugs are rare. I only had a problem with a certain character getting stuck after a dialog with a guard, but thanks to the swarm intelligence of the Splinter Cell community, the problem was easily solved. The credits video somehow did not display, but I watched it on YouTube instead. Otherwise, a really smooth performance.
Don't worry if you've played all the other Splinter Cells (except for Conviction, which has a similar play style). The previous games are more focused on stealth without the need to knock-out a lot of enemies.
Blacklist, on the other hand, forces you (or at least me, maybe skill-wise) to take out foes more often, especially those damn dogs!
At first, I kept comparing the gameplay to the old games, and I was annoyed by a lot of aspects because I did not adjust my play style and it just felt different. Also the "take cover" mode felt weird at first because it somehow reduces your visibility when you change cover compared to when you are not in "take cover" mode, at least on normal difficulty.
But I realized that its not fair to criticise it this way, because I think that the developers put actually a lot of work and dedication into this game. So I started to appreciate every bit of it as a piece of art (idea inspired by a YouTube video from juanjo_sound "How to enjoy games again") and it helped a lot to stop comparing it to e.g. Chaos Theory and enjoy every detail of it.
Literally borderline unplayable.
Constant crashes, PhyX engine conks out and flings hidden bodies into the path of the people you're hiding from, weird mouse acceleration.
It's criminal Ubi is still charging $30 AUD for this.
Basically the greatest game ever made with weird politics but I like moving fast in stealth games so maybe you are forgiven you be soft.
The music is sick, the opening intro kick's ass. the voice acting, everyone does there job well, the gun play, solid. useful and fun upgrades. lot's of weapons. good sound design. the game still crashes when you play it but it's splinter cell it can't be perfect. i wish they got an older man to voice fisher, but he does an ok job. the side chacacters are good. the missions are fun. AFTER 6 FUCKING AWFUL GAMES, THEY MADE A GOOD GAME.
How this game isn't in the conversation of "best stealth games of all time" is beyond me.
It's not perfect, but man is Blacklist good. It captures a MGSV kind of approach to missions letting you range from silent ghost, to stalking panther, to full on assault. The plot is good enough - typical terrorist villain threatening America stuff without being too stereotypical - but it's done with some great writing and acting; the mission briefings alone get you pumped up to go on each mission.
By today's standards the game feels slightly short, but a lot of that feeling comes from just wanting more of the excellent gameplay. You'll get a solid 20 hours out of the game just from completing all the solo missions available to you. Sadly, the multiplayer function is deceased, so the online modes and co-op missions are not available to play. I think the game could have done with 2 more story missions and another bundle of 3 side ops to round things out, but what is there is great regardless.
Splinter Cell die-hards will moan about Sam Fisher being re-casted, but this isn't a Kiefer Sutherland type scenario, the new VA does a solid job for the more HBO styled drama on offer here. Preference may vary on how attached you are to Michael Ironside's voice from the rest of the series, but I think the change doesn't hurt the game - a lateral move in general.
I can't stress enough how well this game finds ways to up the ante for each mission. Again, my only complaint is that I would have actually liked to see a couple more missions in the story for padding, a little breathing room as the narrative constantly ramps up. Again, the side ops help with that, but there aren't enough to prattle though to let you savour the game as much as you may want to.
Lastly, Sam Fisher is a badass. Flat out. Some of the things he pulls off in this game had me giggling with excitement. His veteran presence in the story is well earned and there is never a doubt that Sam is "the guy." Amazing set pieces throughout leaves me howling for a sequel to one day happen. Don't let the "commercial flop" gossip fool you, this is a damn good game, one of the best stealth action games out there and over a decade later manages to impress.
P.S. Be sure to add -offline in the launch options. (Right click on game in library, go to properties, launch options, type in "-offline" without the quotations. This will stop the game from crashing. I had no issues playing once I added this so you should be good to go.)
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist is a near-perfect blend of stealth and action, offering tight, flexible gameplay, a variety of mission approaches, and one of the best executions of the Splinter Cell formula. Whether you’re a die-hard stealth fan or prefer a more aggressive playstyle, Blacklist gives you the tools to play your way.
The stealth mechanics are phenomenal. Movement is fluid, enemy AI is challenging but fair, and Sam Fisher’s gadget arsenal allows for creative problem-solving. The "Ghost, Panther, and Assault" playstyles let you choose whether to go full stealth, silent but deadly, or guns blazing, rewarding players for their preferred approach.
The level design is a major highlight, featuring large, open-ended environments that encourage experimentation and replayability. Missions are varied and dynamic, taking Sam across global hotspots, from secret compounds to war zones, each offering multiple routes and tactical options.
The co-op and multiplayer modes add tremendous replay value. Spies vs. Mercs, a fan-favorite mode, returns with intense, asymmetric stealth-versus-action gameplay, delivering some of the best competitive multiplayer the series has seen. Co-op missions are also fantastic, encouraging teamwork and stealth coordination.
The story, while serviceable, is not the strongest in the franchise, and some fans may miss Michael Ironside’s voice as Sam Fisher. However, the writing, pacing, and mission variety keep things engaging throughout.
With fluid controls, strong AI, and rewarding stealth mechanics, Blacklist is one of the best modern stealth games, successfully refining the Splinter Cell formula while staying true to its roots.
Rating: 8/10 – A fantastic stealth-action game with incredible freedom and replayability.
I would love to play this game stealthily, if the mechanics weren't so freaking inconsistent, I wouldn't randomly vault up a wall, and it didn't crash every 40 minutes
Even though this game is a bit old, it is still a fun game. The difficulty level is nice as no matter what you choose, it's easy to grasp. I would like to point out that if you want to play this game on controller, please use a 360 controller or something equivalent. Also make sure that you turn off steam support. If you leave it on, it will auto configure the controls.
I really enjoyed this game, even though there were many issues to resolve beforehand
I truly hope this series can continue, whether with a sequel or a remaster, but considering Ubisoft's current situation, it seems quite difficult
我真的很享受這個遊戲,儘管在那之前必須先解決許多問題
真的很希望這個系列能夠繼續下去,一個續集或重製版都可以,只是就 Ubisoft 目前的情況來看,是相當困難的
Amazing game. Refined controls, good graphics, great stealth systems, amazing level design, superb voice acting. The sounds are well made, mo-cap is good. AGAIN, it is world class as a stealth game which is the most important thing here.
Story is mediocre but which hollywood Spy story isn't? We need a Bourne game but this ain't it.
20 minutes of gameplay then game closes.
Enjoy playing
I had to return it because there were game breaking glitches that would prevent me from completing missions stealthy. Enemies would have this weird mirror or mirage effect where they couldn't do there routine or pathing and would be stuck in place leading to me getting detected no matter what I did!
Restarting missions or the game would not fix it, there is no patch coming because the game is old and unfortunately there is no fan patch that exists, I literally could not play my splinter cell game stealthy.
AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON HAVING TO LOGIN INTO A STUPID UBISOFT PORTAL EVERY TIME I WANNA PLAY A GAME I PAID FOR!!!
I am new to PC and this is exclusively PC Overreach, completely unacceptable, doesn't even achieve anything in regards to piracy prevention, they just want my data and to spam me with marketing of there trashy new games.
The game itself is good don't get me twisted but the PC experience. . . Nuh uh.
If you want to get the game, buy a copy off a console digital store or a physical copy from someone for console, its not worth the PC experience and the modding does not have enough volume to make the pain you will suffer worth it.
I am very disappointed, this game to me is a guilty pleasure, it gets hate but I LOVED it on my PS3 growing up, Had this been my first experience it would have ruined the whole damn franchise for me.
And to think I was going to buy the full Splinter Cell Franchise on Steam!
Shame on Ubisoft, cant even get your old games right, SMDH!
An Ignominious End for Sam Fisher....
- Game crashes habitually, and at random intervals
- Online 'support' discontinued; no more multiplayer, metagame, or Ubisoft Connect support
The game in it's current state (and it won't be changing any time soon given the trajectory of Ubisoft...) is NOT worth any price.
Sam Fisher deserved better...
Despite negative reviews, I found myself thoroughly enjoying this game and have replayed campaign and side quest missions many times over. It's unfortunate that Ubisoft decided that the game and the franchise itself was not lucrative enough to continue developing, having shut down the multiplayer servers. Additionally, it seems whatever they had done to discontinue online play has resulted in the game force closing after a period of time which makes it difficult to complete any of the longer missions.
this is cool games. very good for stealth. and i'm a fan, splinter cell. franchise. I played this many time before always offline never had a net connection before,. i bought it to late, no more briggs mission, (coop mission) to bad. for new player, you need to fallow community guidelines, for crash fix. They're are all cool to me
Crashing, clunky and boring. Conviction is way better than this.
good gameplay and evolution of the series but didnt like how they changed sams voice actor, new guy sounds nothing like michael ironside, sam also doesnt look quite right but other than those things its pretty decent, not nearly as good as chaos theory but decent
biased and i dont care, love the stealth gameplay, gadgets are great, sneaking around and customizable to some degree
can be played with some tactics: full frontal assault, methodical elimination or full on ghost.
ubishafted unfortunately.
dont buy for the coop or multiplayer.
SINGLEPLAYER CAMPAIGN ONLY
I've played this game even during childhood, and I can say this is hands down one of the greatest shooter games ever. The element of stealth makes this such a great game too. From various stages, and missions, to objectives and things to collect. And let's not forget to mention building your own load out, with a vast amount of guns, armour, gear, and all sorts to choose from.
The best Splinter Cell of the series, in my opinion, and definitely worth every penny. A remaster on consoles would be outstanding. Top tier game!
I enjoy the story, which is incredibly well thought out. HOWEVER, BUYER BEWARE!
Many many features are missing from the game, such as online service (meaning you can not play this game with friends) and Spies & Mercs is completely unavailable. Ubisoft has not changed the price to reflect these lost functions so be aware that you are buying a game with several of the advertised features not working.
In addition, you will never get to see the ending to the story. On the final mission with the final cutscene the came freezes while audio from the cutscene plays. It crashed my computer three times while trying to play the cutscene (I have a powerful gaming rig so it is definitely not my system) so for those reasons I do not recommend purchasing this game at it's current price.
Right click game on library - Click Properties - In the General tab at the bottom there is a Launch Option, type in -offline - Enjoy the last Splinter cell game in the entire franchise
This is the fix for every 20-30min crash countdown
It still crashes for me but at least it takes about 2-3hrs now
The game itself is great, but it crashes at least once a session. It isn't an issue for story mode where it auto saves, but the side missions you have to start from the beginning
Modern PC's, prepare your task managers.
This game has repeatedly crashed, or inhibited it's own performance. And no matter what I do, it will crash or freeze and I have to set the core affinity manually. It is a battle of perseverance to play through this game on my computer. A simple patch that makes it compatible with modern computers is something that is likely not to come.
Outside of this glaring issue plaguing the game now. I used to enjoy this game when it ran without many hitches. The game play and stealth are good and the story is worth investing in.
The movement is a bit more clingy, less fluid which can lead to many miss-inputs and stealth failures.
If your computer was made around the time this game was made, hopefully you have a better time with this game than I do.
Very cool stealth game! It has fun and challenging stealth with different gadgets and features which makes replaying levels fun and enjoyable. If you are looking for a fun stealth game with different ways to kill (or not kill) your enemies you should try this game!
Played every single series of splinter cell, i had more fun in blacklist than chaos theory, from might people say chaos theory is the best but its my opinion. played it on perfectionist to get rid of the mark functions so that i can feel the rush to headshot quickly myself. and yet i had to wait how may years for the next remake to appear? 10 years? well now i have to wait another year. ubisoft dont mess this up
very fun just crashes every 30 mins, other than that it's very nostalgic.
No achievements...
if ubisoft adds achievments to this as well i will update this to positive. They did it for far cry 3, so there is hope
I used to love this game and would play every now and again, but it has become officially unplayable for me. The game has stopped reading my mouse movements and is locked in 1 spot. Looked for a fix but i can not find a fix at all. Would love to play again but atp its a lost cause for this game unfortunately.
took away the original hiding in darkness system.
flirts between my favorite and least favorite of the series.
pros:
-back to classic gameplay, very Chaos Theory
-good looking, well acted story
-lots of side missions and plenty of game.
cons:
-levels are more like Conviction, too linear, too few alternate pathways or secrets.
-no michael ironside. he didn't voice Sam due to his cancer problems, but his replacement just SUCKS, sounds nothing like him, sounds half his age, doesn't match the sardonic wit, nor the healthy suspicion of his own country, and overall just is not Sam Fisher. For me, this is what KILLS the game when im not otherwise enjoying it.
pro tip: download a version of uplay (the older ubisoft connect) from like 2013 and all the standard online stuff actually works perfectly, Ubishit didn't shut down any servers or anything, just made it so newer Ubishit launchers stopped working with Blacklist.
Good game, fun mechanics. Not super exciting but still good. Although the Co-op could be better.
The game keeps crashing every 30 mins and its pissing me off, but apart from that it is a great stealth game, I want more Splinter Cell games Ubisoft >:((((((
Really fun and cool for any one who loves(action, spies,a well good made game, classic games and etc)
Too many crashes in game. second prolem is lack of online game server
More spy/ espionage action from Tom Clancy with an emphasis on action since I find myself going loud whenever possible. The Blacklist storyline is cool with new locations and new ways to play.
I had issues with the game randomly crashing about every 30 minutes which was a pain in the ass, but didn't make the game unplayable.
The game itself is great, but ubisoft being ubisoft, so PC version is completely broken. Mouse aim has negative acceleration, so the faster you move your mouse the slower the camera moves in game. That's just ridiculous.
some good memories playing this game and I felt like this entry revitalized the series but Ubisoft felt different. Still waiting for a new Splinter Cell for some Multiplayer action. They could even have DLC of old maps like Cinema and Mall. Sad the servers are down now.
It would be nice if the game didn't crash every 20 minutes, even your typical Bethesda game is more stable than this lmao
Go to properties General Tab then add this to Launch Options -offline -offline_mode
It will stop the crashing every 30min.
im going to try playing and buying this game one more time, ubisoft better have fixed it by now
I loved this game back on the PS3 and was hoping to play through it again on PC but it crashes around every 30 minutes. Still a great game though, if you can figure out a way to stop it from crashing.
so besides the game crashing every 30 minutes, now ubisoft is saying that the game belongs to another account even though i was playing it on the same god damn account yesterday. fuck ubisoft and fuck EA and fuck every other company who just cant resist tying their game to some barely functioning garbage launcher
