Stronghold Crusader 2 - это долгожданный сиквел оригинального castle-сима Stronghold: Crusader. It is a shame that the houses and inns are not used as the first crusader, but it is still fun.
Beat all the skirmish trials and campaign. One of the better strategy games I've played, still holds up pretty well today save the AI is pretty linear and easy to gimmick. Managing gigantic horse archer armies is one of the funnest things I've ever done in a game. Creative freedom in castle building also good.
Also beat Princess & Pig and Khan & Jackal DLCs, each had decent campaign and Khan especially a fun opponent, but really wish they had considered adding new units in them. Not worth unless on sale + you just want new missions to trudge through.
All in all, 8.5/10.

bought the game. Played for 2 hours - everything was nice. Today i launched steam and pressed "Play" and game didn't launched.
I tried to reinstall the DirectX and C++ libraries, reinstalled the game, trice, on different discs. Took the partition in bets (aka win11fix). Nothing had worked.
Such a pity that this trouble exist quite long time, and still there is no solid solution on the web. I'm really disappointed that i couldn't play the game nor with my friend nor solo campain

4/10. I'm surprised this game has mostly positive reviews. It runs poorly, the UI is barely improved from previous games, and the graphics customization is limited. I'm disappointed in it. It felt like a cash grab when they released it 10 years ago, and in those 10 years they haven't done anything to improve it. If it wasn't for the nostalgia, this game would get 1/10.

Good light hearted fun. In many ways simpler to play than original stronghold title, but still challenging to balance, defend and win.
The game is not starting right after the Windows update! Please help us and fix it.
everything good about stronghold 2 and crusader smashed together. This is the only thing passed the OG and crusader that actually landed.
Army size in skirmish mode is a joke. Not worth buying if you plan on using skirmish mode.

I'm not a fan of editing game files to run it in windowed mode.
People who are facing the same issue;
1: Go into C:\Users\[your username]\Documents\Stronghold Crusader 2 folder
2: Open options.xml in Notepad
3: Alter fullscreen="true" to fullscreen="false"
4: Save options.xml

Fun Game Wish Stronghold Still Made Games.
This review will basically help you whether to buy this game or not , however , although I am recommending this game , am going to be neutral mentioning both good and bad aspects of this game genuinely .
I have spent 100+ Hours on this game before I write this review , so please before you agree or disagree with me , try to complete reading this review.
First of all , lets compare this game to the first version of it which is Stronghold Crusader 1.

-Clearly , since it has been released in 2014 , this game is in 3D and has a better amazing graphics , you can zoom too close to the objects and can see them clearly in a good view.
-New lords and sounds in the game which makes it more fun.
-You can set a rally point for the army to go to it once they are produced.
-It has exactly the same buildings but in more realistic view , there\\\'s a Market now which lets u auto-sell and buy good on a limit you choose , instead of spamming mouse click to sell and buy allot of goods.
-There are no trenches anymore , which makes the game more possible unlike the sc1 where you can dig a trench all over your castle and block the enemy from entering it.
-You can now put your siege equipment at a point close to the enemy instead of those workers who u integrate with the equipment to make it work.
-They added allot of new troops in both Arab and Crusader army. Like for example the healer which makes u heal your army , Rangers , sergeants at arms,,, etc.
-Easier managment for the economy and goods from the panel on the top right of the screen to get more taxes. it tells you how much you produce and consume.
-A new feature of occupying free lands in the map to take goods from them , wasn’t in SC1.

The game worked for a few days. Now getting "Failed to initialize the engine" error. The developers should correct this issue because they are selling a game that is unplayable with this error.
Bad game play, bad graphics, un-optimized mechanics. Not really my favorite rts game series.
After it working perfectly fine for so many years, I even changed pc's and just randomly one day after playing with a friend perfectly normally the next day with no reason why the game just doesn't work anymore with just a small error: Failed to initialize the engine.
An issue they have had [b]FOR 10 FLIPPING YEARS!
Edit: Official Firefly support got back to me and provided me a link for the fix as apparently the issue is with Windows themselves if you are on Windows 11 the 24H2 update has broken the game!

I LOVE STRONGHOLD CRUSADER. Stronghold Crusader 2 makes me feel at home in front of my computer. Very good game!
Nice gameplay but.............................. I don't need food. All I need is a Market and only a weapons factory. But the Market is very expensive.. 500 gold-100 wood. hahahahhahaa

Am I loosing something here? Why this game even exist?
I'll be brief as I had a longer review but steam froze and I do not feel like typing it all again:
It plays almost too much like Stronghold Crusader and only feels like an expansion rather than a full fledged squeal.
Multiplayer is there, whether you want to play RTS with randoms or your friends, that's up to you. Unlike the first one, it's there and functional.
Full price? Heck no, DLC is overpriced and the game doesn't feel different enough to be called Crusader 2.
Worth a try if it is $5 (as that's what I spent) and at least if you want to go back to the first one you won't feel ripped off.
I am leaving a positive review as I I spent a small amount of money on it versus $40. If I spent $40 on it I would be a negative review.

"failed to initialize the engine" cant play it
So if you run into an error about initializing go into documents or wherever you have the folder find options open in notepad change (Fullscreen=true) to (Fullscreen=false) save it then close it. The game must be closed when doing this because after you save it in notepad you need to start the game. Dont try to go into Fullscreen within the game it wont work. Another problem if you can't scroll down or right just use the W.S.A.D keys to scroll the world/map.
