I started playing this on Stadia years ago and never finished it before Stadia got shut down. I really had a good time getting 100% in this. Hopefully they make another survival horror someday
Its like if Pixar made a Horror game. Good enemy design with a good story with very good stealth and semi combat mechanics, very solid pick.. Had a very good time playing through it.
A well polished game. Not too difficult. A poignant reminder that others in our world are affected by our own actions or inactions. Compassion, Empathy, kindness and love is what life is all about. This is what we are here to learn. This is the meaning of life. Totally recommend.
GG
Great game. A little flawed but great story telling and graphics
Its like a mashup of Metal Gear Solid and Alan Wake, but made for kids.
Pretty fun for a while.
Babies first survival horror.
Played this back when it was a Stadia exclusive and loved it then, now finished completing all the achievements and it's still a great game (now without the bitrate and latency issues :D)
7.5/10
A compelling, unfortunately relevant story with homages to some of the scary greats (Silent Hill, Resident Evil) with decent, at times tense stealth mechanics, and an enjoyable visual palette to boot.
Loved it. Love the story, the graphics, the drawn cutscenes. And that’s coming from someone who’s not a fan of horror games. Really good game.
The only thing I don’t really like is the fact that you need to find all collectibles (quartz/inhabitants/diaries/canaries) in order to get the good ending. I really don’t like to get bad endings in games, so I had to play with a guide by my side in order to make sure I wasn’t leaving any hidden quartz behind, and I would definitely have lost some of them. I like searching for collectibles and stuff, but the obligation of finding them all if you don’t want a bad ending really makes the game less enjoyable.
This is a very good and short horror game that should be played by all who enjoy the genre. Some great scares for sure and the story is decent.
If you want to see the game in action, I did a playthrough on Gylt as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViFuHqZrE0Y&t=13s
I said Gylt is a 8/10 game in my video, but as I'm writing this review I can see the work that the devs put into it and I'd say this is a 10/10 game =)
Very short and simplistic. Simple puzzles and problem solving. Holds your hand the entire way and you must make an effort to die. Not a bad game though as long as you're not expecting much. Worth the sale price.
Great game! I really enjoyed my play through.
Sad ending
This was a great game. It is a bit short if you are not interested in getting all the collectibles, but despite that I think I spent my money well on these 5 hours.
Wonderful game, loved every second <3
Wonderfully balanced with excellent mechanics, mysterious story, and beautiful art style. Exceptional.
Gylt aka Sylent Hill Kidz
Fun.
amazing game and atmosphere
Pretty good little horror game.
Gylt is a great game for fans of stealth horror and scratches the itch for anyone waiting on the Little Nightmares sequel. It's very short [4-6 hours] and the gameplay is simple, but I appreciated the story it wanted to tell and Tim Burton inspired artistic design. Gylt has a low asking price to enjoy, so it's definitely worth playing if you're a fan of the genre.
if you like 99% skill games yep no rng it's almost 100% skill so i like it plus it's just really really good
Survival horror is indeed a very tricky genre to make, although there are many games in this genre. The only game alongside GYLT, that I will call true survival horror is Outlast. That being said, this is a very well made survival horror game and even defeating enemies requires stealth and a lot of thinking. But, I would say, each success is very rewarding. The game involves a lot of thinking and strategy and the experience is made to be very realistic. You can relate to your character and strategize. What do I mean by that? Here's a small example without spoiling much. In the arcade section, as you try to get to the room with two billiards boards (this room is the only way to get to the second floor, where your objective is), you will have to face against two monsters. The problem is, if you face against one of the monsters, you will end up alerting another one, even before you can kill, at least, one of them. Facing off against two monsters simultaneously is never recommended. They gang up and you will not survive. Your best option is to distract them and crawl very noiselessly to the next room. I used a soda can to distract the monster to cross over behind one of the arcade game machine. But, there are gaps between rows and one of the monsters' visual field goes straight up the the opening, because he's standing facing the opening. The other monster is walking to and fro and he's the only one who can block monster 1's field of vision. So, you have to take a gamble. You must cross to the next row of arcade machine, as long as monster 1 is blocking the field of vision of monster 2 and that's the gamble I took. In that area, there are three monsters in total. I could only kill the third one and that too using stealth mechanics. I can relate to the game and I can relate to it, because the game designer made it as realistic as possible. I played many survival horror/puzzle horror game with stealth mechanics. In most cases, I can never understand the game, because many a times, no - most of the times, the game logic does not relate to real life logic, which is sad, considering, most players are real life people who employ real life logic most of the time. The game is also very well executed. Most games gives excuse of "I will not hold your hand". What does holding my hand means? Does providing a bit of explanation of how your games works automatically translates to holding hands? That's so stupid. Holding hands means literally telling the player where to go and what to interact with throughout the whole length of the game. Explaining the game mechanics to the player very elaborately is not holding hands. If anything, it makes the gameplay very enjoyable for the players aka the clients of the developers. I do not think Overwhelmingly Positive reviews are hard to attain. Some developers are simply conscientious and others are not so conscientious. They never cared if their game is going to be entertaining. They only saw their customers as cashcow or their game is made for a selected or specific group of people. Overwhelmingly Positive games are made for everybody, so that everybody enjoys their time with the game.
Very fun stealth game.
Bought this game on a whim cause it was on sale. WOW. Fantastic game. Sorry is great. Makes you feel the feels. Deff recommend
Alan Wake meets Resident Evil (w/ no guns) in this pretty nice adventure.

Overall ★★★★★★★★☆☆ - 8/10
Music ★★★★★★☆☆☆☆ - 6/10
Graphics ★★★★★★★★☆☆ - 8/10
Gameplay ★★★★★★★★☆☆ - 8/10
Story ★★★★★★★★☆☆ - 8/10

Difficulty ★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ (add one star doing it stealth)
What did I like?
* graphic is very timeless and remembered me to the game Random
* good story setup and a sub message to think about
* 3 different endings
* puzzles and stealth are not annoying
* last checkpoint is past the point of no return, but there will be a return to campus option for collecting everything (only missables are 3 achievements related to the bosses and the stealth run)
What did I not like?
* no ng+ or chapter select
* the cutscenes did not really fit into the rest of the game presentation (they are not bad, but ingame graphics would have worked better rather than using storyboard drawings in this particular case)
* MIA teddy bear :'(
Summary:
A nifty game that is worth playing if you are already interested. Not very long, and not difficult to beat, but it was made with a lot of love from the devs. I clear recommendation from me.
I suggest playing this game stealth (don't kill anyone except bosses), it is not much harder but more fitting.
game would not load so i got a refund
I've wanted to play this game since it was released on Stadia. However, I didn't intend to buy a dead-on-arrival console just for one game.
And then it happened — GYLT came to Steam. What can I say? I am not disappointed.
Alan Wake for kids is exactly what I expected. There are no big revelations in the story. It is trivial but still interesting.
As a horror game, not scary at all. I would call it an adventure game. And all the warnings in the opening credits just highlight that school bullies exist (breaking news!).
It's not a masterpiece, but it can definitely entertain you.
Great little casual game that's just spooky enough to be entertaining. It's got some Stranger Things like characteristics which suit the story very well. Its mild enough for my daughter to play with respect to the difficulty and very tepid horror aspects.
The achievements are easy in 1-2 playthroughs depending if the first is a blind run which I would recommend.
Also it runs beautifully on SteamDeck as well as desktop.
Don’t like horror but want to try it anyway? This game might be for you.
Enjoy horror and are looking for your next game that keeps you on the edge of your seat? This game might not be for you.
Gylt is a narrative singleplayer homage to games like Silent Hill and Little Nightmares rolled up into something that plays like a starter pack for getting into the survival horror genre. Whether you choose the route of hiding from your fears or fighting them head-on, all of the classic survival horror mechanics are present. The game is easy to understand, and I’d say even suitable to play for children that don’t get scared too easily.
There are puzzles here and there, but nothing really different from what you may come across in other games. You’ll come across them through game progression or when looking for collectibles.
It may also be worth mentioning that the camera controls are decelerated, so turning the camera with a mouse seemed extremely slow even at max sensitivity settings and occasionally felt like an issue during combat. If you decided to play with a controller instead, this may not be an issue.
As a side note if anyone out there is interested, it was indeed developed to play on Windows, but I played it on Linux. The minor bugs that surfaced were easily fixed – they were inconvenient, but did not make the game unplayable.
For me, the game wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t great either. At the very least it may be worth a try if you're into this sort of thing.
not all that scary but still had a good time.
This is a little gem of a game. A charming little tale that will touch so many. It certainly evokes some childhood memories.
GYLT has a beautiful art style and colour palate. It has some drippings of horror throughout and the gameplay is largely stealth based with some combat and puzzles thrown in.
The combat is very simple. You use a flashlight to defeat the games monsters, similar to Alan Wake without the fire arm. Each enemy (apart from one or two) have a couple of weak points to blast with the flashlight. Later in the game you are able to freeze enemies also and this adds to the puzzles and a is used for a little backtracking to get some collectibles that are scattered throughout. You are also able to play through without killing anything and can use some traps like electric wires laying in water to shock enemies.
The game is around 4/5 hours long and features a few different areas and bosses. I am pleased to say the bosses are solid though not challenging. One in particular is quite creepy. The final one is the weakest which was disappointing.
Animations and lighting are very good and compliment the art style and theme well. Characters are well voiced but not quite fully fleshed out as the game is short. But they don't really need to be. The music in the game is also great and works well with the theme etc. I got some Harry Potter vibes from it.
Overall this little game is well worth your time and I'd highly recommend a playthrough.
A story of isolation and pain, and a story of regret and guilt, that anyone could experience, has experienced, or is experiencing.
I have not finished the game yet, but this was just what I was itching for! Gylt is a beautiful game with an interesting narrative and design, which heavily reminds me of Coraline with fairy tales elements. I was looking for a game that would make me struggle to put the controller down and that was just it! However, it is worth noting that the game is not challenging mecanic wise, operating like a sort of the last of us for children: you will defintely not need most of the ressources but it's nice to sometimes just enjoy the game and not pull elden ring moves. Super excited to see where this ends!
A bit buggy, but very cutsie game :)
When I grow up, I'm gonna be like Little Nightmares, GYLT said
Beautiful.
Honestly never finished this game but of what i played of it it seem like a pretty dang good game and it was enjoyable. for what i played of it i would rate it around a 7 to a 7.5 out of 10
Good
GYLT is a charming horror-coated adventure game with a big emphasis on stealth and puzzles. While the gameplay can get a bit repetitive towards the end, the game is fairly short and doesn't overstay it's welcome. The incredible art direction sets the game apart, and a story that can be appreciated by people of all ages - sad to see Tequila Works gone!
Beautiful Graphics, good gameplay and stealth
It is a Silent Hill game for kids and it is awesome. I have yet to beat the game but so far I am enjoying it.
A solid 6 out of 10.
Decent story and gameplay, though the morals were a bit on the nose and the game was torn between being a stealth, arena shooter(you quickly get a lazer beam with practically unlimited ammo) and then a puzzle game later on. Would have been better just sticking to stealth in my opinion.
The polish was impressive for such a small game. Very good sound design and animation work.
nice game i really recommend it!!
its a great short story game
This game is the dream child of Allen Wake and Little Nightmares! I 10/10 recommand everyone to play it!
like it
It's an okay little horror game. Like Silent hill, but for younger audiences. Not the craziest thing in the world but it's fine. Cute art-style and nice atmosphere.
Cons:
* Game has multiple endings, but the good ending seems to be pretty difficult to get due to the amount of stuff / people you have to find on the various maps - I actually spent a good bit of time wandering around trying to find everything and I don't think I found anywhere close to enough to get the "good ending" which I found a bit on the frustrating side. If you want the 'good' ending, you might consider using a walkthrough to ensure you get it versus spending hours on the game and missing some bits on the maps and not being able to get it.
* No manual saving, game auto-saves at checkpoints.
* This is kind of a neutral bit, just for informative purposes - the game is pretty graphically demanding. I'm playing in 4K with everything cranked, aiming for 120fps and even with a heavy manual overclock to 2150MHz this game takes an RTX 3090 to full utilization. This surprised me a bit. Game runs really well, though, so again, this isn't really a con or a pro, just an FYI so you can plan to ensure you have good system cooling, etc.
Pros:
* Excellent graphics & frame rates.
* Game has pretty good combat mechanics - I was a little worried that it would be a sneaking game where you had to avoid monsters completely and had no way of fighting them (I do not like those types of games), but this one allows you to have ways to counter the monsters for the most part, which is good.
* Good narrative to progress the game along with pretty good pacing. Couple levels can drag a bit with the more complicated puzzles, but most of the game, I'd say around 80% or so, flows really well.
* Very stable game, zero crashes.
* Ran into zero bugs.
* Game is a good length - just as you begin getting tired of the mechanics and are ready for the game to end, it pretty much does.
* Game not "woke", although the bullying angle is a hard sell for me in the manner it's portrayed. What's portrayed in the game is pretty standard for most kids growing up and we all just get through it, it's called life. I am never a fan of trying to coddle people too much as that just makes them into snowflakes. Be understanding and encouraging when they run into issues, but also must instill a sense of toughness as well so kids can grow up and be strong when faced with adverse conditions. Mommy isn't always going to be there to make the meanies go away.
* No additional DRM or launchers beyond Steam.
* No Epic Online Services.
Game Length: 6-7 Hours.
Final Rating: 6/10.
good game
