About the Game
Great Emission, the biggest anomalous energy blowout from the times of Second Incident at The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, has shaken the world again and reshaped the Zone. To investigate its cause and and prevent future cataclysms is your only chance to survive in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky.WAR OF FACTIONS
With the anomalous activity at its maximum, the unstable Zone continues to tremor with outbursts. The transformation of the Zone map destabilizes the fragile balance of forces in the Zone. Hostilities for the new territories, artifact fields and spheres of influence flare up among groups. Feuds and friendships are left behind – now, everyone watches out only for themselves. The Faction War has begun. To survive, join one of the parties and knock out opponents over the Cordon... Or benefit from working for all the factions at once, like a true mercenary.
NEW PATHS
The safe and trusted pathways are no more. Known places disappear in impenetrable fields of anomalies, stalkers and entire expeditions vanish or remain trapped within. Mysterious territories that have been lost since the appearance of the Zone are opening up, calling for explorers. Your mission is to become a pioneer and explore all the new areas that have become accessible in "Clear Sky"!
MYSTERIES OF THE PAST
As a mercenary named Scar, play a key role in Strelok’s fate and discover new details to the original game story, revealing its major secrets. Visit the familiar places as they were before the original game starts and witness the events that shaped the Zone to the years ahead.
Game features:

Played and completed this on master difficulty and I have never been fucked by a game so much in my life. Try and attack any enemy = 20 laser grenades at my feet, infinite spawning bandits in garbage = 1,000 bullets and 50 med kits later running from body to body to find bandages only to watch your hard work disappear in a cloud of bandit spawn once you leave because the stalkers don't care that you cleared it by yourself, duty don't care that you cleared it by yourself. The final fight was the dumbest shit in the world, but I did it and no one can take this 20.7 hours of domestic abuse away from me. I am a victim, but I have survived.
The same map as in the previous part of trilogy. The focus of the story is also built around the same aspects as in the previous part of the game. In one sentence: this is a storyline addition to Shadow of Chernobyl with the same mechanics. The review for the game itself is identical to the previous part, so I'll allow myself to copy-paste with small edits (in case you want to read *my* review):
The first thing I would like to note is the diverse and rather interesting plot. The realization of human enemies, zombifieds, zombie themselves and anomalies is interesting. You have to expect nastiness everywhere. I like the fact that the focus of the game is on the story, because money won't help you much, which allows you to focus more on the missions. The artifacts are not just expensive things, but sometimes they are imbued with a lot of value for the main character.
At the same time, there are two significant disadvantages for me. The first is the poorly implemented save system. However, given the year of the game's release, this can be forgiven. The second disadvantage is the shooting system. On the one hand, it is as close to reality as possible: a jammed weapon, limited amount of bullets, and a wide spread of bullets. And it would be a huge plus if such settings were applied to enemies with weapons — you would be like in a real world. Otherwise, it turns out that I spend 2 minutes aiming at my prey with a sniper rifle, and it takes half my health with a f***g pistol in 10 seconds from the same distance.
And I can't consider the following item either a plus or a minus: randomly decreasing health, even though all the indicators are normal. So go ahead: bandage yourself up, drink vodka, eat a sandwich, use aid kit and inject yourself with anti-radiation medicine. Something will help [but no guarantees :)]. Radiation has an unobvious effect!
Once again, the game was released in 2008. Despite all the troubles, this is a classic. And classics must be played.
Stalker: Clear Sky is a prequel to the acclaimed Shadow of Chernobyl, offering an atmospheric and challenging experience set in the haunting Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. The game builds on the franchise's hallmark blend of survival horror, RPG mechanics, and open-world exploration, but its execution is a mixed bag.
The graphics and atmosphere shine, immersing players in a bleak, radioactive world brimming with danger. Dynamic faction wars and a robust weapon modification system add depth and replayability. However, the game is hampered by significant technical issues, including frequent crashes and questionable AI behavior. Its steep difficulty curve and punishing mechanics can also alienate newcomers.
While Clear Sky has moments of brilliance and expands the lore of the Stalker universe, it struggles under the weight of its bugs and balancing flaws. Fans of the series may find it worthwhile, but patience and a love for the setting are essential.
Rating: 8/10
Pros: Immersive world, faction wars, engaging mechanics.
Cons: Technical issues, steep difficulty, AI quirks.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Shit
i had high expectations as SoC and CoP are amazing games, but this is an uninspired and lazy garbage instalment full of weapons less accurate than tyler mcvicker, which makes fighting any enemy fully unsatisfying. thanks to the tracer effects on projectiles you can watch the shot deviation in real time as your entire magazine's worth of ammo misses static targets engaged at distances an assault rifle is literally designed to be used in. you're better off spraying at them on full auto.
Vintorez, AK74, L85 all have effective firing ranges of approx. 400 metres, LR300 literally has its effective firing range in the name, yet these weapons all deviate within 5 metres. these firearms are also being operated by a supposed mercenary, who lebedev IMMEDIATELY identifies by sight alone as a professional fighter. on the other hand, mere bandits are consistently capable of instantly killing you with AK74SU irons at what the game devs likely consider olympian long-range distances, or take 3/4ths of your health off and leave you bleeding profusely with buckshot from a sawed-off.
the only good thing this game has is the gang war system, which is extremely dynamic and fluid. it's the most lively stalker game by far, and it's wasted on the shittiest stalker game by far. i'd rather play competitive counter-strike with a controller
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEn_DJHmt00
I honestly think Clear Sky had a lot of potential, but it seems to be mostly ruined by gameplay choices by the devs, The game itself isn't bad, there are enough weapons to keep you satisfied, they added some new mechanics, and it still has the stalker vibe, but everything else just doesn't work, the bleeding mechanic is annoying, and just doesn't really make sense, i mean, i think the bleeding in Shadow of Chernobyl was a good mechanic, the bleeding could pile up and slowly kill you, which would still make it a threat and a reason to carry bandages around, in Clear Sky, this just becomes a nuisance, as even the slightest wound will bleed you out until you die, causing you to have to waste a bandage, another problem is that the enemies are incredibly annoying to fight against, they seemingly have an infinite amount of grenades, and will throw them at you every second with perfect accuracy if you are behind cover.
I wish i could give a mixed instead of yes or no review, but i am sort of leaning to no, If you want to just play stalker to enjoy the game and get introduced to the universe, i recommend that you skip Clear Sky and just play Shadow Of Chernobyl then Call of Pripyat, As those two games are so good, but if you want to try everything stalker has to offer, then i think you should play Clear Sky, keep in mind though, i played this game for 40 hours, and i think i only enjoyed about 30 to 40 percent of the game. But since i am a stubborn idiot that is seemingly possessed by some kind of demon that compels me to play stalker, i stuck through the game and finished it.
Overall, i think you should get the game if you enjoyed Stalker but want more, but you shouldn't if you just want a good time.
TL;DR: purchase the game on discount only and only if you miss the Zone.
Played the game before buying it on Steam, decided to get back to it. The plot isn't so intriguing and grabbing as it was in 'Shadow of Chernobyl' (if you haven't played it, the plot of 'Clear Sky' is a prequel to 'Shadow of Chernobyl' and tells about the situation in the Zone before SoC and a story about one of the key characters in SoC).
Weapon damage sucks, along with economics. You should grind as hell in order to gain some solid cash.
Fractions and engagement with them is also broken: you can't put an end to any of the fractions, as they automatically spawn again.
'Clear Sky' looks like a testing ground and moving point of numerous mechanics to CoP. Playing SoC, CoP is advised. CS – doubt it.
This was alright until I got to Garbage, then it just straight up broke. Maybe there are some mods that fix the game, but I can't be bothered. I'm moving on to Call of Pripyat and hoping the devs actually finished it.
On the upside, performance has actually been completely fine. No crashes, steady framerate, decent enough graphics. It's just very bugged and the mechanics of the game seem really half-assed even compared to Shadow of Chernobyl.
Cant say a lot about the game
But the visuals and gameplay did improve quite a bit from the original game, however this is a buggy mess and it is really easy to get soft locked if you do not mod the game
Honestly I do not think this can be played without mods to fix the bugs, i have only played around 2 - 3 hours and cannot continue because the faction war system got broken, even if I were to install mods I would not be able to continue with my save as the mods are not compatible with base game saves
If you are willing to put up with the usual stalker bullshit gives this a go, if you do not have the patience for such a buggy game,,, do not even think about it
TLDR; still a good game, some stuff is better than first, other stuff not so much; if you don't like the gunplay, install the mod Arsenal Overhaul.
Clear Sky is often considered the worst game in the STALKER trilogy, but that doesn't mean it's a bad game. Part of this fame comes from rejection to the changes made (not all for the better or well implemented). While the first game was much more free form and had more of an emergent nature, Clear Sky is much more focused on story, more linear and scripted. You still can treat it as a sandbox, but the more focused approach usually means you'll spend less time with this title.
To be perfectly honest, this last time I played Clear Sky for this review I've used a mod called Arsenal Overhaul - Clear Sky 1.2. It adds a TON of weapons and fundamentally changes gunplay. I did this because Clear Sky is infamous for having almost comically innacurate guns, at least until you upgrade them. The idea being that you'd be encouraged to focus on a couple of guns and make them perfect, but that ended just being frustrating. The modded experience is much more satisfying, at least until you get to the final stretch of the game. You see, the enemies have more effective guns too and this makes the endgame gauntlet a harrowing experience. But STALKER games usually have frustrating finales, so nothing new here :P It's still worth the journey!
The war and faction system are interesting if you want to put more time into the game and can be a real goldmine in some circunstances. I love the upgrade system. What I have a mixed opinion about is the new anomaly/artifact system. Artifacts being invisible until you get near them wouldn't be so bad if I didn't get blinded by all the visual effects when tiptoeing inside anomalies. I can't see shit, I'm taking damage and the damn artifact is rolling around like a ball! Well, I suppose it's fitting. But when you add bugs that clip the artifacts underground I just stop bothering. So, I don't collect as many artifacts here as I do in the first game.
Don't be discouraged by discourse or the initial area (a swamp, yay!). STALKER games usually have a slow, precarious start and get much better once you have decent stuff and some money. For people struggling right after you leave the initial map once you get to Cordon you don't need to be shot by the military, go back to swamp and take the other exit to the Cordon.
Clear Sky has always felt the coziest out of all the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games. With a few mods, like improved bullet ballistics and Atmosfear, Clear Sky becomes my most memorable S.T.A.L.K.E.R. experience.
Standing on unstable ground, dreaming of a clear sky, but the light never stays long, and the weather is always overcast.
Great game with some minor flaws. The fact the end game is often bugged out if you don't complete it without dying/or if you save and restart from said save, is extremely disappointing. But the game overall is great. As they say- it's not the destination, but the journey along the way that we enjoy.
And this game has a very enjoyable journey to be had.
5/10 , Average, Buggy Game
>Story-wise
-Honestly just skip this and go straight to Call of Pripyat, I thought this would add something more to the story so far, but it adds absolutely nothing except the little bit (just a couple of seconds) in the ending scene.
>Gameplay
-Enemies have Homing grenades, and they got tons of it, grenades will land on your feet no matter what. prepare to be bombarded by it.
-Stealth don't work, Silencer? It works just as a flash-hider for you, Every enemy in the vicinty will be alerted as soon as you fire that one shot.
-Darkness don't work, enemy will see you no matter what as soon as you fire that one shot.
-Buggy + crash-fest (especially in Agroprom Research Institute and the Red Forest) it even corrupted my save one time.
-That one military machine gunner at the exit of swamp
-Bleed mechanic, (I hate it) I just equipped a Health-Regen artifact and ignored the bleeding til the end.
-Faction mechanic, if you touched that mechanic you will lose on alot of upgrades for your armor/ weapons, don't touch it and don't use it, remain neutral in my opinion
>Overall
Recommend to Try at least once, and don't play on Master, AI-aim is pinpoint accurate in this game.
The only thing I've ever heard about Clear Sky was that it is the worst of the STALKER games, as I'd never played it myself, and seeing this game sit at very positive reviews made me think "Well clearly it's still good right?" No, it isn't. This is not only hands down the worst of the franchise, it's just downright not a good game either. It is filled with game breaking bugs from the get go stopping you from progressing forward, but it also just has a whole host of problems and gameplay mechanics that just make it considerably worse than Shadow of Chernobyl. Ladders routinely don't work, bushes, leaves, and plants in general routinely block bullets, you bleed instantly from just about any wound you take and need to use 3 to 5 bandages just to stop the bleeding you got from one point of damage. The game also introduces the ability to repair your gear, but naturally like a lot of franchises that introduce this mechanic later, it makes the fundamental mistake of making it so that durability is incredibly low. Your guns will lose half their durability after a fight or two, and because of how durability works, your guns practically become useless at even half durability with how inaccurate they become.
The game also just includes "gotcha" moments where they force you into situations where you die because its the only way forward or appears to be the only way forward. For instance at the beginning of the game, the only way to leave the swamps to get to Cordon is through an npc leading you out to Cordon. However this path immediately throws you into machine gun fire and if you manage to get far enough away to where it can barely hit you the game spawns hordes of dogs to immediately kill you. The secret here is that once you leave the swamps with the npc, you can immediately turn back into the swamps, because once you've enter Cordon another path opens up that you can take to avoid this instant death scenario.
The big thing this game adds is the faction war mechanic, but this is extremely buggy and breaks frequently stopping you from progressing when you need to engage with it to progress.
There is fun to be had with this game, but it's a slog and there's no reason to play this over any other STALKER game.
There are no bugs in the game, only anomalies
Pretty good as a Prequel to SoC.
Disclaimer I Did use the SRP mod v1.1.4 with optional features of: Less Emissions, Prefilled Stashes, Smaller inventory grids, & Trasparent Inventory. Mostly did this to Fix the SEVA bug and avoid having to Restart a third time due to saves not going back far enough with better autosaving.
on the First Save set I made it Pretty far with 24hrs on the counter because I wasn't in a rush to finish the game taking my time and preparing for the final half of the games storyline. Unfortunately due to poor Save tactics (I only used the Base Autosave and Quicksave) & stupid decisions I got into a position where i was unable to get to safety during an emission which cut that save set dead.
On the second save set using the lessons from the first save set and with the SRP mod I set out again albeit with Less motivation and some frustration with the game and myself.
The Main story is enjoyable and if I could go back in time and Experience it again for the first time I would.
While Imperfect the Faction wars is both a pain and kinda fun to take part in. The best part of it is Getting the Number of Bandits in the zone to Zero after exterminating them from the zone with your own two hands and the Help from other stalkers.
The Equipment Upgrade system with the Quests for Data drives is kinda neat especially since sometimes the upgrade kinda pays for itself from the reward money.
The different Artifact hunting system is kinda a pain to deal with as you cannot see the Artifacts until you get close enough with the right detector. I did only use the Veles Detector to do artifact hunting and used the others more in their passive states.
The Final Hour was Very Frustrating with all the Chaos from Opposing Forces to the Screen Shaking and Blurring. I do Regret not Stopping before Heading into Limansk and Doing it the next day with some rest.
The Last Cutscene was a little confusing because of the blurryness of it but after viewing some screenshots the day after its a lot more clear. I do wish it led into the first cutscene of SoC for more clarity but maybe I'm just an idiot.
TLDR; I Enjoyed the Game and Recommend it along with the First game. Do look into using the Sky Reclamation Project for Less potential headache and some fixes to
The junkiest of all the Stalker games, and the only Stalker game I'm leaving a negative review for. I'd actually prefer to leave a neutral review if I could, but Steam doesn't allow neutral reviews, and I don't think Clear Sky is worth recommending on its own either, so here we go.
- The game's biggest feature, Faction Wars, doesn't work because it's bugged as hell. I remember the time when I had to clear the bandit base over and over because the stalkers didn't want to take it and win the war
- Some of the new features, like fast travel through Guides, crash the game frequently
- Broken economy, terrible rewards, terrible gear upgrade system. Pushed to the limits weapon failure system where NATO weapons would jam every third magazine fired, and guns generally break too fast. Aiming through ironsights on handguns were removed - why?
- The story just isn't that engaging, with too much emphasis on long runs between plot points and dead "sandbox" world where nothing happens, either because there are no scripted events or because they just didn't work due to bugs
As someone who's played through every Stalker game at least five times and played Stalker SoC the year it was released (in fact, Shadow of Chernobyl was the first videogame I played in my life), Clear Sky is only valuable as a transition between SoC and CoP, and after clearing the game once, makes you want to speedrun it as fast as possible.
The bullet trajectory and jamming in this game is like my life. Never in the right place at the right time.
Honestly just play one of the other STALKER games - unless you want to mod the ever living hell out of this game.
Faction Wars was and still is terrible, a gargantuan time sink and a pure distraction from the game after the 8th time the bandits attack the depot and the stalker/loner group gets stuck in a tunnel/rock/house and can't get reinforce. That is until you get near them they magically unstuck themselves and 3-6 bandit squads have already spawned in the depot behind you..... just skip this game and watch a video synopsis.
Also fuck THAT mission. Any RPG that takes EVERYTHING from me randomly through the game can just go straight to jail.
It's got some issues but it's still a fun time.
Used ABR mod for my playthrough.
For story, play this first. For release date, play this 2nd.
There's definitely some fun to be had, but most of this game is complete and utter bullshit. Even with mods to fix the bugs, issues are still there, and additional mods are required to alter gameplay. The gameplay itself is a worse version of Shadow of Chernobyl with mechanics from Call of Pripyat, with exploration and side content feeling like procedurally generated Ubisoft stuff. Every side quest in Call of Pripyat had some story behind it and usually formed a quest line that, upon completion, awarded you with special items, daily items, and reputation from factions. In Clear Sky, 90% of the side content is: "HEY, I LOST THAT GUITAR, GO THERE, PICK IT UP AND COME BACK TO ME, RETRIEVE THE 500 RUBLES AND GET LOST." Remember that fun game Call of Pripyat where every area you entered had stashes (even whole storage rooms), mutants, NPCs with some fun tasks, or anomaly fields, and the exploration was just encouraging? Well, forget about it now. It's completely not worth it to explore; anomalies are scattered around random fields with nothing on them, every NPC is copied and pasted, and only a few NPCs on this big map give you tasks. Stashes spawn only if you get information about them, so there's no point in searching for them. Also, they scrapped the system where you had to find toolkits for technicians to get better mods. Before, you had to search in logical places and ask random stalkers for them. Now, this exploration aspect is gone and replaced by a system where you randomly loot USB sticks from stashes and bodies. Have fun motherfucker.
The only good things I can say about this game are that Clear Sky is a really cool faction, they added Renegades, and the Swamps are the best addition to the SoC map ever. The Red Forest is also kinda neat. The only stuff that makes this game worth suffering through is that you get to know some nice lore, you get introduced to the SoC story better, and the faction wars with the supplies system are nice.
I think I understand why so many hate on this game. To start, yes the bleed mechanic is super annoying and adds nothing to the gameplay besides annoyance, it doesn't make the gun fights any more tense it just makes them frustrating due to having to use 400,000 bandages for 1 gunshot wound. Speaking of frustrating, it feels as if they made the guns less accurate and even after upgrading an AK74 to max for accuracy it still wasn't hitting shit at 30 yards.
over all I tried to enjoy this game and even resorting to minor mods to improve those frustrating elements just for not much to change. it mostly felt like I was rolling a dice every time I pulled the trigger just for a npc to hit me multiple times with a shotgun at 25 yards mean while the bullets from my ak were seemingly exiting the barrel at 90 degrees.
I would either suggest to skip this one entirely or play it heavily modded (which I might do in the future)
Even with my purist philosophy, which advocates playing old games as vanilla as possible, I cannot recommend playing this one without mods. The shooting mechanics, the economy, the "faction war"—all of the game design is simply broken or unfinished. However, with a mod like ABR, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky can truly shine.
While there are improvements on the first game, Clear-Sky has far to many issue taking the fun away and making me likely to never beat this game. From enemies spawning in camps I am currently or have just cleared, to guns feeling almost useless on harder difficulty, and the worst getting quests to help fight but the targets dying before getting there even on full sprint and failing the quests.
The only stalker i didn't finish, until today.
If you want to have a great time, don't play on master diff. It was brutal in the end, but in the most unfair funny way.
AI shoot at walls to hit you, going around corners and insta double headshots you. In the same time it got very funny when you teleport on top of a building in the end and monolit just teleport around you and you didn't even know where to go and what to shoot first. It was a missing piece from my gaming archive and i'm glad i finished with it.
"Clear Sky" is brutal, uncompromising, and definitely worth a try. Stalker's atmosphere is unmatched. The bleak, strange, and unsettling environment is compelling. My only mod was a bug fix and it is remarkable how well a 2008 game looks. Extremely buggy, but in every other way it was a worthy follow up to Shadow of Chernobyl.
I'm sure the game can be incredible, as it did have large improvements over Shadow Of Chernobyl, however;
The Bleed mechanic in this game can and did suck away all my enjoyment, you WILL bleed, you WILL run out of bandages and everyone WILL make sure to charge you hundreds for one bandage that WILL NOT stop your bleeding. Every enemy is perfectly capable of throwing a grenade 0.1 picometers from your feet at every single chance, leaving every gunfight feeling as if you were under an active artillery barrage whenever facing more than three enemies at a time. For these reasons I simply cannot recommend playing Clear Sky
The game's story to the point I played was good, and I enjoyed Scar and Clear Sky. But the game itself is like trying eat broken glass
I hesitate to recommend this one after what I just experienced, but here goes.
This game is *very* different compared to SoC and Call of Pripyat.
Clear Sky is what you get when you made SoC and go "hmm it was successful but not call of duty successful, lets take some bits of SoC and try to turn it into a modern heavy action narrative shooter". It mostly works, and you can see a lot of the ideas and tech that was pushed into Call of Pripyat, but unfortunately it still wasn't that good, and even worse they seem to have always taken criticism harshly and 180 their bad choices with each game instead of improving them. CoP retains none of the interesting narrative bits of either SoC/CS, and has an otherwise pretty boring story with great gameplay, quests, and environments. I'd like a game that's somewhat in the middle, but I digress.
Gameplay: It's STALKER, and brings about the first of CoP's style of anomalies which I really love. As for combat, where in SoC that difficulty is "bullet sponge body, one tap headshot", in CS difficulty is drastically changed by removing bullet sponginess to the point where you and your enemies take but a few bullets to kill each other. I rather like this, or LIKED this, until the very last mission.
Hoooo fucking boy do STALKER games have a reputation for awful awful last missions, and this is no exception. The last mission takes place at exactly the same place SoC's last mission takes place: the teleporter sequence of the sarcophagus, and while it doesn't drag on nearly as bad, the encounter is just horrible enough that it completely changed how I feel about the rest of the game despite liking it a lot and considering some of it better than it's narrative sequels. The entire last "stretch" of missions in general takes a huge turn into an action fest and it felt so off, just like SoC. Both games are quite slow burn with a few big firefights here and there and a couple crazy dungeons (labs), and then the final stretch they for some reason feel compelled to have a big explosive finale. It fits better in this game than SoC, but the gameplay change is jarring. You basically get locked into a series of linear Call of Duty missions after a point without really knowing when it's going to happen. Massive sequences where you're killing 100's of dudes and no way to restock ammo or buy anything except for trying to bum it off bodies, but oh wait, the enemies respawn in waves :|
As I said, I REALLY like most of the game. The engine of this one is probably the most unstable, even with Sky Restoration Project, half of the time me reloading resulted in CTDs. But the gameplay for MOST of the game is some of the best and people tend to sleep on it (maybe for good reason).
Without the last sequence of missions: 8/10
With the last sequence of missions: 5/10
Maybe when you start heading to the CNPP just quit and look up what happens. The only reason for the existence of this sequence is to explain why Strelok ends up in the dead truck at the beginning of SoC, though I was left quite unsatisfied regardless.
Game aged like milk, but it's the kind of milk that has an interestingly bad aftertaste, so you keep drinking it anyway, not sure if it's skim milk, or expired.
• Hello everyone, in addition to the previous game, they brought soldiers who guide us so that we can go to certain areas faster. In fact, we can say that these guides allow us to teleport to certain areas we want to go to on the map for a certain fee. However, our character gets tired more quickly depending on the weight it carries.
• In addition, weapons can be improved, broken and repaired again. However, the constant jamming of the weapon in the middle of a fight can be a bit annoying.
• I can say that the game mechanics are exactly the same as the previous game. Graphically, I only noticed an improvement in the lighting. However, in terms of optimization, the previous game was much better; sometimes there can be fps drop problems in this one. Even if you have a good graphics card, the fps you get from the game can drop significantly when the game is at the highest graphics settings.
• My general impressions are good and I enjoyed playing, but the effect left by the previous game was much better. My score is 8.5/10.
The whole end section of the game is such an infuriating pile of goddamn crap. By far the worst game design I have ever seen. Also the whole game is just a glorified DLC for the first one, everything is recycled. Garbage.
Pros:
Atmosphere: The Zone feels alive and terrifying. With unpredictable weather, haunting sounds, and deadly anomalies, the environment keeps you on edge.
Faction System: One of the coolest additions. You can align with different factions, making each playthrough feel unique. But beware—it’s a double-edged sword. Enemies you make won’t forget your actions.
Upgraded Weapon System: The weapon upgrades are well-integrated and add depth to combat, allowing you to customize your guns to fit your play style.
Cons:
Brutal Difficulty: Even for veterans, the difficulty spike can be jarring. Expect to die... a lot. A lack of balance can make some sections feel frustrating rather than fun, especially in early-game skirmishes.
Buggy at Launch: Though many patches have improved it, Clear Sky still has its share of bugs and performance issues that can interrupt the experience. Consider modding if you're running into trouble.
Weak Storytelling: While the setting is intriguing, the storyline itself doesn’t have the same impact as Shadow of Chernobyl. Character motivations sometimes feel shallow, and it’s easy to lose track of the main story.
Bleeding simulator: You bleed all the time and have to use bandages
Overall: If you loved Shadow of Chernobyl and want to dive deeper into the world of S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Clear Sky is worth it. Just be prepared for a fight—this game doesn’t hold your hand. It's a love letter to hardcore survival fans and those who want to experience the bleak, punishing beauty of the Zone.
5.5/10
Clear Sky falls short of the magic that made Shadow of Chernobyl a classic. While the original immersed players in a haunting world full of horror and mystery, Clear Sky feels soulless, lacking the intense atmosphere and mutant encounters that defined its predecessor. The game’s linear progression forces you through faction missions, restricting the freedom that made Shadow of Chernobyl so compelling. To make matters worse, frequent bugs and technical issues hinder the experience, making it feel unpolished. Overall, Clear Sky fails to capture the magic of Shadow of Chernobyl and is a disappointing follow-up to a game that felt amazing.
The final bit of the game may have made me want to eat a fistful of glass, but in every other way it was a worthy follow up to Shadow of Chornobyl.
I felt like this one was shorter than Shadow of Chernobyl and a bit more limited, even though I enjoyed the game from beginning to end. Now I can understand why some fans say it's a bad even then it was fun
Clear Sky is an excellent prologue to Shadow of Chernobyl. I had as much fun playing this as I did with SoC. It's also slightly more difficult than SoC. For that, I recommend installing the Sky Reclamation Project. This mod includes some optional features to rebalance the game's difficulty, as well as bug fixes and quality of life improvements. Overall, I recommend that you purchase Clear Sky if you enjoy open-world games like this.

Only if you've played the other two already. And most importantly, find a bandit camp and wait there listening to their radio music. Forever
One of my favorite games. Great atmosphere, graphics are so-so, but the game is interesting. I also highly recommend playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.
Huge upgrade from last game visual wise, map has some stuff in it, faction wars are prett cool!
Clear Sky....I wish I put this to the mixed review.
So, the game released a year later after SoC, and the game engine has a few changes, but there are flaws from the game.
One good thing is that the game got a graphical overhaul, the world looks great especially with the use of the new lighting, models have got a minor update, exploration is still great, and artifact hunting is much better rather than just finding it out of nowhere.
But then, aside from the positives, the gunplay is somehow worse. the ballistics of your weapon are terrible, you'll keep missing a shot due to the accuracy which goes willy-nilly around of the enemies while they have great accuracy. you need to find a technician if you want to improve the weapons to a more reliable state, but the issue is still there when you shoot.
Another feature that has been changed is the factions, you can work with the factions that you want to join, assist them on taking out enemies and capturing the area, do some quests, so on and so forth. I'm fine with it, but it feels underbaked since the quests feels the same as always when you keep playing.
another thing is the objectives, it is way too linear but you can still explore everywhere you want to go. the story is...questionable since it's a prequel from how the disaster happened but in a different character, except this time you're stopping the main character from causing it. The boss battles is....why was this added?
So, it even if there are flaws from the game, I still like it. I don't hate it, because I still play it.
Really disappointing. Plays somehow worse than the first game, while expecting you to take on 5X the amount of enemies. Feels like a poorly made mod.
Arsenal Overhaul + A bunch of .Itx file tweaks and the game gets pretty fun. Unless you like hammering rusty nails to your balls, do NOT try unmodded.
a sequel to the cult classic game. not as good as the very first game Shadow of Chernobyl but still good enough to be the part of this legendary franchise!
unfortunately, most of its new mechanics were incredibly broken for me, which is really disappointing considering almost everything is exactly the same as the previous entry
This game gets the Dark Souls 2 treatment since Shadow and COP are great games. It has bigger problems than the other two games but it is definitely worth playing. A solid 7/10 game. I'm not sure if I would recommend this to someone who hasn't played the series before but if you like the other two or at least Shadow then it is absolutely worth playing.
Pros:
- Stalker's atmosphere is unmatched. My only mod was a bug fix and it is remarkable how well a 2008 game looks. The sky and weather constantly change as you traverse the environment.
- This game will make you better at FPS games. You will need to go slow, check your corners, and make sure your inventory is up to snuff.
- I am kind of shocked that there are not more faction based single player FPS games. The story is not the best but it is a great way to learn about all the factions in the series. Good mixture of solo missions, group/faction missions, and side quests in the zones.
- Zone based traversal. For some reason Open World games frustrate me because sometimes it just seems too barren. Maybe it's nostalgia but breaking the game up into zones allows open world like traversal without as much slog imo.
- The gunplay. Once you have an upgraded gun you will be able to rip headshots off nonstop.
- Inventory management. I like games with Tetris inventory management.
Cons:
- TTK is insanely high in this game. This is a pull for some but yeah you are gonna get wrecked a few times.
- Grenade spam is unfortunately real. SRP mod allows a reduction in grenade spam which is essential to download.
- Every Stalker game ends in a bullethell. I swear to god you use more resources and ammo in the last 5 percent of the game than you do in the first 95.
- Quicksaving during story events will bug the game out. Just a reminder to only use quick save while out in the world or before/after a story event. This mainly applies to end game.
- Ally movement is really bad and will often run into you mid fight pushing you out of cover.
- Game needs a few more tunnel/underground sequences. The highlights of Shadow and COP are in the underground sections.
While I did enjoy it overall, the mechanics were a little different from the first in not necessarily a better way. For one thing, a lot of the creepy atmosphere that was in the first was lost. Regardless, it was still a fun playthrough.
