Luxor 2 has some improvements over the original, mainly in graphical presentation and the hit-detection on the spheres when you shoot them. There are new features too, such as an endless mode and a practice mode to help hone in your sphere matching skills. There is also an adequately detailed performance tracker and in-game milestones for completionist's sake. However, it is still hard to recommend the game because of the following issues:
1) For most players, the game will not run out of the box and will require a fan-made patch to run properly.
2) Despite the improvements to ball-accuracy, about half of the game's levels negate it by introducing too many twists, turns, and tunnels that only make shooting more frustrating than ever. Some of the worst map designs I've ever seen. It's not a skill issue, since the accuracy problems occur only in the twists and turns. Its difficult to explain in writing, but even in less than 10 hours of play I have encountered the strangest accuracy problems when trying to slot in spheres as they are making a twist or a turn in their pathway. Most of the time they will slot up to two spots out of place when these circumstances are met. Don't get me wrong, the maps are pretty to look at, but if half of them only allow adequate shooting conditions for less than half of the sphere's track, then what was the point of improving the ball accuracy problems from the original Luxor?
3) There is a strange issue with the swapping mechanic. By clicking the right mouse button, you can swap between two spheres that you can shoot. Too many times I have clicked the right mouse button to swap to the second sphere only to end up shooting the first one. It has caused me many losses and it is unacceptable. Even the first games did not have this issue. I don't know what went wrong here or why it happens.
Luxor 2 is a good improvement, but the map design really drags everything back down. Its still not good enough to recommend at full price. Wait for a sale or buy the HD remaster.
I enjoy playing this game but it is broken and it will not work unless you find a work around. Steam has never fixed this game but someone did post a fix but you have to download files that they uploaded. So if you buy this game it won't work.
Luxor 2 is a sequel to Luxor and improves upon the simple, yet addictive match 3 formula. Similar to the other titles in the franchise, orbs travel along a track to a finish (a game over if it occurs) where you must match away the segments. The graphics are more shiny and polished here. The music is even better than in the first game. The UI, controls, and settings are mostly the same with a few bugs. I have had power-ups be collected then when I launch them, it disappears and transforms into a colored orb (which usually breaks my chain, costing me points). The targeting arrow is incorrect as it doesn't truly indicate where an orb will go. For example, on a corner, you can move your mouse to certain angles and the targeting arrow will show that you can shoot somewhat up a line of orbs (as if to shoot through them) to make a match with that color, but it won't and it will hit the first orb on the corner, breaking your combo. If points are important, I had a severe bug where I was playing the bonus level after stage 4 and my power went out. After booting the game up some time later, I was on stage 5-1 and I had 0 points.

Not too much else to say since these games are epitome of simple fun. I would recommend this to match 3 players or anyone looking for a great, new franchise to play with.
