Probably my favourite Bejeweled game right next to 3. I really love it, but the compatibility issues suck major ASS
twist
"If it isn't broken, don't fix it." Bejeweled Twist is simply disappointing more than anything else.
While the game isn't low quality by any stretch (good visuals and great music), the new twist mechanic has obviously played a large role in the decrease from 8 game modes in Bejeweled 2 to just 4 modes in Twist. The twist mechanic also makes matching special gems more difficult since more complex maneuvers have to be performed to get the gems into place. These maneuvers also don't mesh well with the game's chaining mechanic, since to match special gems you will usually have to break your match chain which resets your score multiplier.
Aside from that, the three standard modes (Classic, Blitz, and Endless) are fun to play around in. Classic mode, in my opinion, has actually been slightly enhanced due to the changes in how the game over screen is reached. No longer do you have to worry about running out of moves since gems can be moved entirely across the board without needing to be matched. Instead, time bombs are dropped into play every so often that need to be matched quickly to prevent the game from ending. Locks can also appear that prevent a single gem from being moved, forcing the player to think outside to box to be able to find a match for it. Its a decent evolution, one which Bejeweled 3 probably could have taken notes from.
Blitz mode is about the same as the timed modes in previous Bejeweled games, although in this mode there is no way to gain additional time to reach for higher scores. Its just your highest possible score in 5 minutes. Very bare-bones but nothing to complain about.
Endless mode in Twist is just like Bejeweled 2's, it just goes on forever and ever... No way to lose, just relax and use it as a sort of practice mode.
Twist's Challenge mode, however, is this game's true downfall for me. Unlike Bejeweled 2's Puzzle mode and Bejeweled 3's Quest mode, Challenge mode in Twist is not very enjoyably or memorable. In this mode, there are 13 different challenge types that have 8 levels of difficulty to them. Each new challenge is unlocked after completing at least one level in the previous challenge. The challenges are all roughly similar due to the limitations of the twist mechanic, but they do range from various timed challenges, gem elimination challenges, and limited moves challenges. The problem with this mode is its repetitiveness. Performing the same challenges over and over again, only with increased requirements or more strained time limits, just doesn't do it for me. Its bland with no unique flair to it.
In Bejeweled 2's Puzzle mode, each new puzzle was unique and enjoyable to solve. New mechanics introduced were kept in later puzzles, resulting in fairly elaborate problems that could be solved by paying attention, using logic, and revisiting older puzzles. Bejeweled 3's Quest mode did feature some repetitive quests alongside unique quests, but these tied directly into the other game modes, so it all went by fairly quickly and gave you some practice for the other modes. Neither of these modes ever felt boring to play or to revisit. On the flip side, almost none of Bejeweled Twist's challenges tie into the other games modes in a meaningful way, which means most players will go in with zero practice or background for them. In addition, the difficulty of some of the challenges ramps up drastically after 2 levels or so, which means players will end up spending hours and hours on challenges that won't really translate into skill in the other game modes. I can never see myself wanting to complete most of Twist's challenges, and much less revisit them.
Its just not good enough overall, and the new twist mechanic didn't work out as anticipated. While its interesting in concept, it ends up limiting the game too much for my liking.

Good.
One of the most entertaining casual puzzle games I've ever played
good old game
At the time I am writing this review, this game has a bad relationship with Windows 10 and 11. You'll be able to play the game quite a few times until it suddenly crashes and never becomes playable again. You will either get a .exe launch failure message or a blank white window that disappears. I've seen that other users in the Steam Community have also experience the same issues. I love the Bejeweled series, especially Bejeweled Twist, but I hate to see this game die off early after download. I hope there is a fix for this. Some other issues include resolution and 3D Acceleration issues. Overall the game is great but I feel like I just wasted $5.00
Don't buy unless you only want to play one time and then have it never load again. Oh, and if you do buy it, don't play it for 4 hours in one go like I did, or you will not get your money back, even if it is their fault.
Bejeweled: with a twist. overall i like the game for what it is. i could play it for hours at a time. the music is quite nice. one thing to note is that most computers on windows 10/11 will only work in 800x600 resolution and without 3d features
Game is really skill based as you usually have to twist gems clockwise. Also with the fact it gives challenge, it also gives you infinite movements. But that's more of a double edged sword.
Overall it's a nice simple game, although it costs a lot for it
Before I began, Bejeweled Twist is a good game. It brought a unique mechanic during the time the game was released, (which was about over a decade and a half now.) Does the game up, for both game play and nostalgia purposes, yeah, it's a good game. Classic mode is fun, gets hard in later levels but fun. Zen mode is pretty calm. Blitz requires skill but once you get the hang of it, it's fun. And challenge mode is hard, like real hard. Not Dark Souls level hard, but nonetheless. The backgrounds of the stages look amazing and soundtrack is alright, not the best but catchy.
Reason for bad review is because the game wont launch up, what I mean is when I go to start up the game, it just crashes. Even when I uninstall and reinstall the game, it just keeps crashing. And you know it's not going to be fixed cause the game is like 15 years a this point (Plus Bejeweled and other Popcap games except PvZ is pretty much abandoned at this point.)
I give game 4/10, good game, it crashes , which is a big thing.
