Good addition for the base game, you're introduced to the new race "orc", which is literally a heavy hitters in melee combat.
This is equivalent to when Warcraft 3 got its expansion "Frozen Throne" and its better than the base game.

a classic game with a modern twist. It’s got that same addictive turn-based strategy, where you control armies, build up your towns, and conquer everything on the map. The story is pretty epic too you start off with Queen Isabel trying to defend her kingdom, and then, plot twist, she ends up in a much darker path than expected. There are demons, betrayals, and undead armies. It’s like a medieval soap opera with swords and fireballs.
The expansion Tribes of the East is the cherry on top, wrapping up the story and introducing the Orcs these guys are all about brute strength and rage. It’s awesome watching them tear through enemies like it’s nothing. The story in Tribes of the East focuses on redemption, war, and a classic struggle between good and evil, but really, you’re here for the thrill of battle.
Honestly, HoMM 5 might be the last great Heroes of Might and Magic game. The later ones? Let’s just say they didn’t capture the magic. If you love strategy, fantasy, and a bit of chaos, this game is worth a play. Just remember: don’t let the AI rush your base, they’re relentless!

Literally the Best PVP Game ever made but sadly cant be played multiplayer on steam because then other games would go bankrupt.
HOMM V is the only video game I ever bought a collector's edition for, on retail.
It remains the star of my collection after all these years.
I don't know why I bought the Steam version, but I don't play it anymore.
I still play the retail version with a couple of mods.
Such a beautiful, picturesque, fairy-tale like art style. The best I have ever seen. In my opinion, it's better than even the Lord of the Rings.

The new HOMM "Olden Era" looks like a mobile game - total trash.
The future is not looking good for this franchise.
But it's ok, as HOMMV is my favorite strategy game ever and I'll gladly play it forever if nothing better comes along. It still holds up splendidly.
Worse in every way than Homm 3, even with mods. Don't waste your money or time. Doesn't allow for coop with friends without an enormous rigamarole.
i am a young king on a mad quest to rule the world. Heroes of might and magic IV is peak and nothing can be better than it.

Fantastic expansion to one of the best games in HoMM series. You can't go wrong with it for the price it goes on sale.
game doesn't work on windows 11. have tried every fix. lots of people have the issue and no patch to fix it. Cant save or load games, zoom the camera in or out, or change the resolution

My favorite childhood game. Even if the graphics are outdated at this point I still think the charm and the gusto of the designs and the animations is plain to see. A very fun game with a reasonable amount of depth and strategy to it on top of the inspired fantasy world and the incredible soundtrack. Here's hoping Olden Era manages to live up to the name of this and HoMM3.
Highly recommended that you play this with the 5.5 mod which adds a big mix of QoL and balance\bug fix changes. If I am not mistaken it is also the only way to play through all of the 3 campaigns in one game.

This is a great turn based game with 'some pit falls of various dimensions'. I like how it explores various supernatural theams such as ghosts, devilish angels, demons, rebirth/ deadrising, luck, faries, dragons of various makes, loin spirits and so-on. It runs ok on the average computer but 'larger maps' may be more demanding. Bro n i could NOT get the multyplayer lan/net to go smothly though, but 'hot seat mode' works well and is best for multyplayer tournaments with about 3-4 players recomended. 8 player game with a nice selection of heros and about 8 nation types. Bro n i favoured the 2 elven races but we played them all eventually. Great for 'a day set aside with a friend' to play hot-seat game 4-6 hours at least and you can do little household chores like cooking/vacuming the floor, when its not your turn.
as someone who was raised by these types of games, i can only recommend it
