Hit the rock
What is the rock? Irrelevant question — when struck, it outputs shards, and shards are amazing. They allow you to purchase and upgrade gnorps, and build new structures. The gnorps must have them. Hitting the rock is only half the battle, however, as the gnorps must retrieve the shards before they can use them.
Acquire and upgrade gnorps
Gnorps represent the heart of the game. They are responsible for both shard generation and collection. Gnorps adapt varying methodologies to reach their goal. Some slam the rock with their heads, others shoot it with arrows and guns. You have gnorps that grow flowers, and gnorps that use psychic powers. They even build rockets and drones. All for a single purpose — the accumulation of shards.
A strategic incremental
(the) Gnorp Apologue is about making numbers goes up, but how you do that is up to you. At your disposal:
- All the gnorps, with their varying strengths and weaknesses
- Upgrades that enhance and modify both gnorps structures and gnorps
- The Talent Stone, offering unlocks that allow for extreme, synergetic effects
- Status effects to enhance and modify shard generation
- A special resource, Zybellium, that can greatly enhance your gnorps
If you enjoy theorizing about and executing builds in games, this game is for you.
Will you help the gnorps?

Really fun game with fun mechanics and overall re-play ability
Neat little clicker game with some very charming visuals
This game is a majestically wonderfully wholesome game and I have my hrs on record to prove it. Unlike my other games this is more of a desktop game where you'd just leave open most of the time to just get stuff done. The Gnorp are the main thing in the game, they are the life of your screensaver, and you need them because they are it.
Grow their power, grow their numbers, attach weapons to them, and save up currency.
These are things most players of this game do...
Otherwise I do have some issues with this game, mostly about certain features, and game mechanics.
The game itself is meant to be time consuming, be ready to leave it open most of your time on your desktop if you want to have a shot of finishing it.
The way of the mountain occurrence...
Your gnorp kicks the rock over and over again, if not gnorp them what-any of the other things you've bought with in game currency. (Like the rockets, the archers, and the other things in the game.)
the way of the mountain is the main beauty, and sorrow of the game.
There is only the mountain you need to focus on. Nothing else seems to matter.
The mountain builds up, and you need to break it down, also it breaks down by itself, but you need upgrades for that.
While the main objective in the game seems to be building a city for your gnorp, or otherwise your little pets, or workers, which of the others doesn't really matter. The main thing is, the point of the whole thing is an infinite loop of doing the same thing over and over again. Like kicking the rock, saving cash, evolving your gnorps, and finding a way to beat the game. Which even after 140 hours on record, I'm still far away from finishing the game.
Time consuming, is what this is, but it is not all that bad, just, open the game, leave it open, visit it once in a while, and progress from there. That is the long way to beat this game, and that is the main thing I found to dislike about this game, even thought this is the whole point of the game.
I think adding more features to this game would make it more enjoyable for the long run, if you the game developers wants to keep players engaged with your game.
I'm not gonna say anything else, I don't think I know exactly what I found to be missing from this game after a while of playing it, but I would recommend this to others to try, mostly because it's cheap, and wholesome at some levels.
The loop in the game has made it feel even more exhausting for me yet this is the thing most game developers do with idle games and somewhat tycoonish games.
Give this game a try, it's a nice desktop game, I doubt that I'd be able to finish it in the short run, maybe you'd somehow be able to finish it faster than I can. 6/10. Good enough.
idler game where your only objective is to collect rock shards as much as possible and yes you could beat the game periodically with satisfying eye candy visual in late game
One of the best idle game roguelikes I have experienced.
It's cute, and very addicting / enjoyable for the first few hours. It does suffer and get a bit boring afterwards, but the initial experience is well worth the asking price.
*Update: 100% Achievements Completed - Easy game to 100%
Tip: Skip Slammers and get bombers instead.
It's a great incremental game, the best I've played on PC. It has cute little characters (the Gnorps), a nice soundtrack and great game design! Recommended 100%
Really fun incremental game that actually has an ending to it. Lots of cool builds you can try out and the progression is quite satisfying. It has clicker in the tag but you barely do any clicking.
Such a good idle game, with very neat graphics, soundtrack, etc... gnorptacular... 10/10
feed the gnorps
make gnorps happy
watch gnorps grow
long to be with gnorps
feel sadness you are not a gnorp
railgun
Pretty Good Game 9 out of 10! you can run it muted in the background and its not super long which is a great thing, good upgrades and fun!
They're just little guys. All of them. All of them are just little guys. Funny little men, with a singular obsession: collecting bits of some rock they think is neat, and by any means necessary.
got all of the achievements within around 25 hours of pretty much constant playtime, its worth buying
Not bad; not great; very short.
The draw here is that it's an incremental game with non-zero graphics. That's about all it is; there are only a few builds and the gameplay is pretty shallow once you get the hang of it. Still a fun little romp and you can't beat the price, but it's not replayable or interesting after the first few hours.
Short but sweet. Was put off by the graphics at first, but I can't deny how charming it is. Every Gnorp has cute little animations while they're going about their job.
Also the Bomber's Pocket Rockets in their Rocket Pockets are the best.
A short but sweet incremental (clicker) game that is stylish and occasionally visually stunning.
Superb way to spend a few hours if you enjoy flying particles, making numbers get bigger, and hitting rocks.
8/10 - Solid recommendation
Very unique and fun idling game.
Gives you many different routes you can choose to play.
This game is so great I love gnorping all over the screen while watching my gnorps go about their gnorp lives while gnorping up a magic rock that sucks itself once it splooges too much
Very nice and fairly short - in terms of clickers.
Interactive gameplay, until you mostly automate it all.
Decent synergies between units.
The downside is that some units are no-brainers in the end-game, while others have minimal return on the investments you need to make. This makes most runs farily similar once you get to a certain point.
You can boost some late game abilities with the talent tree, and offset the heavy bias towards the "obvious" unit choice, though that requires you to get all of the tree unlocked.
All in all, I enjoyed it, and would play a similar experience again.
Super addicting, flash-game style game. You hit a rock. Stuff flies out. Homies pick it up and use the stuff to hit the rock harder to get more dudes.
Rinse and Repeat.
The gnorps have taken over.
Every single second of my life is consumed by the gnorps, the shards, every waking moment and even as I sleep their lives continue in my dreams, like an eldritch deity observing the world beneath them. The gnorps live such simple lives, and I am simply here to watch them grow and prosper.
An idler is not a genre I usually choose but I'll excuse this one. I like the goofy humour in descriptions when new things are upgraded and unlocked. Visually, the simplicity of it makes it even better, it's a nice contrast to see when most things are dark and white until you damage the rock. Devs have put their soul into this project and deserves best wishes. Thank you for the nice experience.
a thoughtfully designed, cute, funny, and interesting idle game. also beautiful, depending on how much you like to see a trillion particles on your screen at once. i will be following this developer with great interest!!!
One of the best idler clicker games I have ever played. It transcends the genre
honestly the most fun ive had with an idle game in awhile. ~14 hour playtime. pleasantly short for the genre. i reccomend.
Like many others I picked this game up because I thought it was cute but holy crap this the best idle game in existence. Its pacing is incredible and beating it takes just the right amount of time and effort. So many idle games have you mindlessly upgrade and expand to make numbers go up but Gnorp has you fiercely managing your resources and fighting for the next upgrade point or milestone. Somehow both strategic and relaxing.
A beautiful gem in the idle genre. It was really fun to finish. Not too long, not too short.
No pay to win, "just" invest time.
A cute little incremental game that actually has an ending and doesn't last forever. The game is about these creatures called gnorps and your goal is to beat this rock, using its discarded pieces as currency to upgrade your gnorps .There is strategy in that, if you pick the wrong talent points and spend too many gnorps on the wrong thing, you will make no progress and will be forced to restart which really becomes a problem in the endgame.
The beginning and middle sections of this game are the best parts as you are always making progress, discovering new features and abilities, and using different play styles which compared to other idle games, means you are interacting with this one a whole lot more. However, around the end game, i felt that my gnorp experience has gotten worse, as once i got around 15 talent points I was making very little progress as compared to before, and there is a lot more trial and error at this stage which is annoying as you have to keep restarting to find the optimal build. Due to this the game got very repetitive and boring.
In conclusion, buy when on sale. 7.5/10.
condenses an idle game to the point where it's not really idle at all, would fire missiles at a rock again
I low-key have no clue what's going on but this is super fun and I've only played for 30 minutes
Never in my life did I think I’d care this much about little guys hitting a rock. But here I am, gnorping away like my life depends on it. I dream of Gnorps. I dream of rocks. I dream of Gnorps hitting rocks.
The strategy? Who cares, just gnorp harder.
PROS:
- Cute Gnorps head-butting rocks.
- Gnorps launching arrows into rocks.
- Gnorps launching themselves into rocks.
- Gnorpin so hard you gnorp yourself (out) of existence.
CONS:
- Feeling sad when the Gnorps had no rock to gnorp.
Great game, 9/10 would Gnorp again.
Gnorptastic!
For friends of the genre that enjoy things like Spaceplan or Nodebuster.
Not dissimilar in tradition to games like candy box or a dark room, Gnorp Apologue is a simple and straightforward incremental game.
However, for all its smooth visuals and pleasant audio, GA lacks the depth and "Unfolding" nature that defines a memorable incremental experience.
As I played I felt progress to be linear and without intrigue or mystique. There was nothing to spark curiosity or urgency. At every turn I expected something to "shift" a sudden turn or an unlocking of the "real" game but it never came and the endgame felt very much like the beginning just... busier.
In the end, i enjoyed the experience well enough but it was perhaps a little TOO idle for my personal tastes. Despite the time played, I only actually "played" the game for maybe 2 hours and the vast majority of the time you see was just spent with it on in the background accumulating resources.
It's not a bad game and it's DEFINITELY right for the price but if you're looking for something intriguing or stimulating beyond the 'numbers go up' and 'soft sound tickles my brain' basics, this isn't it.
It's gnorping time!
I just finished this beatiful idle game. Loved it!
It's the first one I played completely blind, trying all the talents and upgrades without really knowing what I was doing. I would say that looking up strategies would have significantly reduced the fun, so I advice you to play it blind as well :)
(You can reset as often as you like and freely redistribute talent points without any consequences)
Have a gnorping time!
Semi-short idle game with a lot of charm and love put into it, very nice to just chill with :>
Awesome incremental game with great prestige scaling and interesting strategies to explore. Unique art that works so well with the currency system
it's like the american industrial revolution except america is a bug cult that worships a magic rock
Good game, right price, right length, nice brain candy that wont rot your teeth and nice and visually engaging. Has just enough ideas and builds to get you playing long enough to find one to go for a win and its pretty satisfying.
For idle-lites likes, this is top of the pile
It has a cute art style, vibrant colors, and an enjoyable gameplay loop. The game has a lot of flair and character. It requires you to think about your plan a little bit, and there is an achievable ending to the game which is a negative to some, but I like arriving to a point where I feel I've completed something.
A village of emoji-like gnorps use a variety of imaginative ways to mine shards from a mysterious, seemingly invincible rock. This clicker gradually becomes more of an idler as you unlock new upgrades and abilities at the end of each round. Wonderfully kinetic and entertaining presentation. Took about 22 hours to 100% this one.
This is a really fun time waster game, that I'd say is definitely worth the price, the music is fun too. also fairly lightweight performance wise, which I was not expecting later on in the game. all in all definitely worth the 7 USD I spent on it!
The game is very fun and satisfying! The visuals are real fun. I'd reccommend at full price no problem its worth it.
Incredibly fun game, with a simple but addictive loop, highly recommended for the price!
It has its charm, a smooth learning curve, humble characters and light humor. It gets you in and you enjoy it for some time. But then it turns into a terrible grind that punishes your creativity. The farther you in the meta progression, the narrower the build options choice.
It feels like the meta progression is design to increase Steam statistics of hours played. As a fan of roguelikes, I'm familiar with the concept of starting over. But in good games you start over when you lose, and you eager to try a new build. In case of Gnorp, you have to reset the game with Prestige to apply earned talent points. It's designed so you cannot beat the game otherwise. And you faced with two contradicting objective: to build a pile os shards or to increase your shards collection (consuming that pile). And to gain those progression points you have to give up on main objective at some point and grind the shards collection. Then you reset the game and repeat grinding.
I wasted one beautiful Sunday on that game. And if not my friend who recommended it, I would drop it after a couple hours of playtime. I usually do not post negative reviews, because I tend to believe that if a game is not for me, it's for someone else. But in case of Gnorp, its just terrible game design and I felt like diluting its positively overwhelming rating.
If you've never Gnorped before now is the perfect time to start.
10/10 Fantastic game
Awesome colour pallet and music
Very addictive
Rockets go brrrrrr
A nice little idle game with a surprising amount of stuff. I had a lot of fun trying out different prestige skill setups to see what worked.
Really excellent clicker game. Nice complexity, very funny, and fun to watch it go. Worth every penny if you are into the genre.
Really fun game and definitely worth the price. The complementing visuals and great soundtrack (and overall sound design in general) make this a pretty unique experience in the niche of incremental games. Definitely worth a shot
Amazing Idler experience that gets you addicted before you can realize that many hours have gone by and you haven't blinked once. 9/10 really fun game
Super fun clicker/idle game, perfect entry point to the genre if you're not familiar with this type of game.
Bit short for an idler, but a (relatively) short & sweet experience is much preferred compared to a 100 hour game without the same level of polish. This game respects your time, and doesn't ask for dozens of hours afking like some others do.
I enjoy these strange little creatures, and hope to see them prosper in the future.
