Park Beyond Complete Edition

Park Beyond is different. I have been a player in Theme Park Building games for many years. While Sim Theme Park is my all-time favorite, Park Beyond gives a feel for the theme park and coaster-building dynamic that made that game different from Roller Coaster Tycoon at the time. Park Beyond is as close as one may get to Sim Theme Park in the modern day. Unlike modern games of this genre (RTC 3 and Planet Coaster), Park Beyond has a different feeling.
The Good:
It is a cost-effective game with very interesting details and graphics in certain areas. It is playable in short intervals. It provides a new theme park building experience. The roller Coaster construction is pretty cool.
The Bad:
The basic toolbars look very poorly designed and are cumbersome. The atmosphere of the game always feels driven (like a pseudo-open-world RPG like Kingdom Hearts compared to a real open-world game like Skyrim). The gameplay is like a helicopter parent AI is watching you play in the campaign setting. If one were to compare it to other games in the genre, it is limited in creativity but makes up for it in a nostalgic feel. If this game were made in the 90s, it would be on par with some of the best, but in modern times, not so much.
The Ugly:
The landscapes and details are very limited. The gameplay is clunky, and the game is so bad at times that I feel bad skipping dialogue. Development likely revolved around dialogue most of the time rather than building a game that might contend with other theme park games. The RTC app has better playability.
I recommend this game because you will have an experience, and though it is bad, it is like a pug dog; it's just so ugly, but it’s cute. Park Beyond is just too bad; it is actually good. I will keep playing it and trying to work through the unfamiliar quirks. I will keep playing because I hate to like it, but I like it as a different game on its own road to nowhere. I would only buy this in the sale or if you have the money. If you are on the fence, just do it. You will hate yourself for buying this game, but you may find enjoyment in the odd monster it is. Someone's kid took time on this game, and ugly or not, it will go on my fridge right next to the better games.
its good
I expected literally a spiritual successor to Thrillville, but this game lacks the, how do I say it, action feel? Like jumps from a ram, high speed dives and all that, it lacks the feel of speed, impact and such. The path finding for building tracks and walkways is horrible, the tutorial is lengthy and often just won't register when something is build right on the spot. The management system is okay, I had no issues with that. Its nice to use community content, if it even loads. I am sad to say this is not a game for the typical theme park tycoon player.
Hi!! I am hoping this review helps someone, because I would have loved to know this information before purchasing at the end of 2024.
For medical and ergonomic reasons I am a controller player. I cannot use KB/M for play. I have been looking for a Theme Park game with great controller support that doesn’t just feel like I am moving the mouse with the left stick for YEARS.
In 2024, we have two good options for this. Planet Coaster 2, and Park Beyond (this game). Not only is the controller support amazing, but it feels exactly as desired and that I expect, for playing with a controller. Smooth; intuitive; and proper prompts. 100% 👍🏻
I don’t dislike PC2 or this game, it goes down to taste. Do you want to control every aspect of your park in every detail? PC2. Do you want to have moderate control, but keep it more about building? Park Beyond. That said, Park Beyond has WAY BETTER controller support. They both control well and are accessible, but Park Beyond flows better. This coming from someone who uses an Xbox or PS controller 100% of the time, even when just navigating windows or Linux.
As for the gameplay outside of controllers and style - I feel this game is underrated AS OF NOW. They added and fixed a lot, making the complete edition a great package. The developers are responsive and responsible. Was not as good at launch, but it is now.
Hope this helps someone make a purchase decision.
es ist schon cool aber es lägt etwas und wenn ich eine achterbahn platziere hängt das Spiel sich auf
Campaign is fun and I couldn't stop playing until finished. The impossified rides are a nice twist from your regular park simulator. I guess there isn't really an endgame except running the sandbox on Tycoon level. I'd say it's still worth grabbing when on sale.
It's badly stuttering on my laptop (with dedicated 3070 Mobile). Runs okay in GeForce now, but levels can take 5-10 mins to load when you are on a rig with slow storage (sometimes much faster when you're lucky). Once you're in it's fine and I had no crashes so far.
Loving this game & love all the packs as well
This game deserves much more love and attention than it got. I have played many different theme park games through the years and this is the first one that has been able to capture my attention like RCT 2 did. The mechanics of this game are fantastic and being able to upgrade rides by impossification is EXACTLY what a game like this needs! It pushes you to keep going and improving the rides, staff, and shops by upgrading them adds a level of strategy and satisfaction that many games like this are missing. Different rides and shops are unlocked through a sort of tech tree/milestones much like city skylines is which really helps build a level of connection to your park as you grow it slowly overtime rather than having everything all unlocked from the gecko. This game has all the attention to detail that you would expect in a roller tycoon game with guest needs, maintenance, being able to ride ur rides, day-night cycle, and all the analytics you could possibly want. Decorating is free and straightforward offering a level of simplistic and complexity you could ever need. No other game has ever made me work on decorating as I typically find it too cumbersome to manage but just placing a few trees and rocks makes everything look so much better. The maps in this game are fantastic and offer a verity of scenery, challenges, and are extremely detailed. The campaign in this game is the best coaster campaign I have ever played with cut scenes and likable characters and even rivals that try to sabotage your park at every turn allowing for difficulty that is always missing in these types of games.
The only negative I have with the game is that with coasters you cannt have more than 1 train car for some reason but you get todo special things with coasters that I have never seen before including splitting the train into multiple carriages, having the coaster room directly on land like you see in Jurassic park world. The DLCs of this game are quite disappointing as others have mentioned but there are more than enough different rides that you can build a really great theme park without them.
I can not recommend giving this game a try enough
ok, to preface this, i love planet coaster, and immediately i bought this expecting planet coaster, and this is not that, however, in its own right it is a super fun experience despite it not having the staying power compared to planet coaster.
Now the game has a unique difference to other roller coaster sims through the futuristic and fantastical track designs as well being more focused on absurdist unreal creations, compared to planet coaster's super realism approach. the ability to impossify your attraction is a really cool addition, however despite this awesome inclusion, it gets a bit repetitive and boring after a while as you realise that you cant customise the impossifications, and they will be the same every time, and this is where i get to some of the problems.
The game unfortunately doesn't have the coaster building polish of other coaster sims, as its clunky and also doesn't feel like your really building a roller coaster. also when riding rides, it feels very fake and doesn't feel like your really riding a roller coaster, i think mostly due to the sound design chosen for roller coasters. and also, i think ultimately the reason games like planet coaster are so successful is because it requires practice to get better at building intricate designs, but you can just put stuff around and play super casually as well. In this game the engine doesn't feel finessed enough to allow players to truly make there own buildings, shops, etc.
overall the game does have some fun to be had especially if you want to just build wacky designs and don't want to worry about management or intricate design building, but if your looking for a more in depth game then i would 100% recommend planet coaster over this, however if this is on a sale and you own planet coaster and want an experience of something different to shake things up, then if this is on sale i whole heartedly can recommend it.
overall score: 6/10
Final status: positive but with issues. not in depth but great for casual gamers.
I keep trying to find an amusement park game comparable to Theme Park World from way back in the day, and thought this could be close but it is not. I don't want to spend 30 mins designing a single roller coaster, or have to customize every teenie tiny detail and super micro-manage everything. I think there is a real want out there for a theme park game that is casual, easy, and about the different themes you can have. A simple version. These newer theme park games are all so needlessly complex. It also takes so long to learn how to play that your 2 hr window to return will be up before you even have the chance to decide if you like it or not.
I had a hard time on demo. I hated the tutorials that made go through all BS but you will thanks 2 hours that you've spent on tutorials later
People complain about the bugs, game physics, etc but in my case I've never found a major bug just yet. Fingers crossed.
I love the graphic. love the impossification system <3. Surprisingly deeper than it looks, with a unique twist. If u loved theme park you will absolutely love this game!!!
really fun and many options to make new stuff, can be a bit complicated sometimes but still playable
i7-11700f , 16gb ram, rtx 4090
Game will freeze a few seconds once in every 3 minutes. So far no other games that I play does this.
Guests will get stuck RANDOMLY FOREVER. Restart or deleting the path doesn't fix it.
Also the path building needs to be further refine, it doesn't flow as freely as other coaster games. It's a nightmare trying to conjoin 2 paths together at different altitudes.
Would love to revisit this game once these issues had been fixed.
Also to note, 5 hours in, have no idea what "impossify" is and how to established it.
If you like Planet Coaster like I do and love the sandbox or scenario editor then you might find this game a bit frustrating. There is a lot of micromanagement to controls a lot of what you cannot do. It requires useless meetings with management meeting and constant feedback that your making progress and will open features and areas of the park when THEY think you earned it. As for me I like freedom to be creative on what I want and when I want. I felt like it was too work to enjoy and had little patience for the tedious tutorial it puts you through before you can even play the game. Perhaps a super advance player will love all these challenges however for just a occasional weekend player that enjoys creating a park with few rides and shops it just wasn't a good fit for me. It felt like I went to work on the weekends doing a second job for real to appease management goals. I never had fun with this game and found it frustrating. You cannot even close the park to concentrate on creating or building your park because you had to constantly tend to the cartoon peeps needs. It was disappointing buy for me.
I've been having so much fun with this game, despite it's glitches. But the last scenario just takes all the enjoyment away. What's the point in planning a park and buying land and creating intricate designs for it to be randomly destroyed? The whole thing just feels unfinished. Purchase if on sale, otherwise I wouldn't recommend.
I got this game on sale for $10. I spent the entire next week navigating the campaign mode and had a really great time. I was addicted. What I love the most is building roller coasters that defy logic and physics and this game gives you the opportunity to do so. I played Planet Coaster beside this game and found that park beyond was more intuitive and allowed me to easily design my own whacky and crazy roller coasters, while Planet Coaster was restrictive and the controls felt clunky.
You can really go crazy with your parks if you put your time into it. I would recommend this game to people who enjoy roller coaster sims. However, expect the rides to defy normal physics and really dial in on the impossible elements. IMO roller coaster sims that allow you to build rides that defy logic are way more fun than a realistic sim. I believe there is a market for games like this. I hope they build upon this release and make a sequel, even though the game likely didn't perform well.
I played on visionary difficulty which is second to the easiest difficulty and I found the game almost impossible to beat. In my games my Guest's needs would revolve around food and toilets and even after building more facilities to meet those needs stores would go negative in profit and I would eventually end up in the whole at some point in my play through requiring me sometimes to delete half my park to stabilize and progress in the story.
Overall if you like roller coaster sims or want to get into the genre, I feel like this game would be a great intro, but not for $40. Get the game on sale if possible.
graphics: Good
game play: Fun
Performance: Meh
Worth it: Only on a sale
DLC: Great
Story: More of a sandbox
Creativity: Excellent
Difficulty: Easy to learn
Age: Any age
Overall: 7/10 but really fun if you have time to play it definitely play it. I hope this review of my opinion helped you.
the tutorial is in a the middle of a city you are supposed to find an airplane WTF
Then you try to start a map out of the campain because the tutorial is crazy complicated
then WTF your screen turns grey you don't know why
you need to 150 IQ+ to manage this game
It was a fun game, but after playing for 100 hours, I lost interest. I paid $50 for it, so I’m a bit disappointed.
fun
Pretty good, very intuitive controls.
Okay game, finished the main storyline in less than 9h. Thats not very long for a theme park game. But still a good game.
Not a fan of the push/pull controls. AT ALL. It actually made me stop playing the game. Also, I'm not really here to build roller costers. I want to build theme parks. Please don't make me go through the tutorial of building a roller coaster. Give me the option to opt out of it and move on.
