save ur 5 bucks and just dont buy this game
its genuinely not worth it and youll only play it for a few hours before never touching it again
Most amazing game
Sooooo... Is this all there is?
relaxing asf, so cute too
very very lovely
like the creator said its more like a toy than a game but for that it is so damn good
nice and relaxing
relaxing building creation game, simple control but it lead to some limitation to the landscaping such as the glass land can only appeared when a flat plan is surrounded by houses (fences?) It will be perfect to me if people will appear and having activities in the building
For its category and price, I think it is worth it. (When it's on sale especially.) They could have done a lot more with it, and it almost disappoints me that they didn't do more because there so much potential in what is there. But like I said, it's a great value game and I have enjoyed it! Additionally, I feel it could be a very helpful tool for visualizing, especially for artists.
Not very big with not much to do but it is the perfect game to sit back and relax.
great and oddly satisfying
I absolutely love quaint minimalistic indie games. I believe like we're soon entering (if not already) a second golden age of indie gaming - and it makes me really happy that games like Townscaper can exist in an environment where they can thrive and reach communities of people that are into minimalism and city building. The game itself is much less like a game and more of an artistic tool for expression - I'll try to explain lmao.
The game is essentially just a canvas and a tool. You click on preset, slightly malleable grid spaces, and a procedurally generated city tile pops up. As you start clicking on different grids, the city tiles start to amalgamate together and create a sort of more sensical human-friendly livable area. That, of course, also depends on your intention. You can very quickly and easily go crazy and create a monstrous manifestation of what could appear in early versions of AI image engines when you type prompts like "4k res, photorealistic, cityscape, floating island". In reality Townscaper works more like using one of those relaxing fidget or squishy toy things. You click and an aesthetic, beautifully colored piece of real estate appears. The millennial dream.
The game unfortunately is very short lived. There's absolutely nothing else to do other than marvel at your creations - then eventually lose the patience of having to be creative, goof around in the game, get bored of it and quit. My threshold was around 13 minutes. This game will probably appeal to a more patient and chill kinda gamer (which is very apparent in the showcases that pop up under the steam news section of the game) and maybe they will be able to get more mileage out of it.
While I commend its existence and love that most of gaming's innovation is happening in the indie scene, I'm probably never playing this game ever again. All in all I will rate it a 2 luxury apartments out of 5 🏢🏢* (with the caveat that people that are into very chill games will definitely love it more)*
very relaxing game. would 100% recommend
The game itself is really relaxing and so enjoyable that you can zone out playing, building cities, fortresses, flying cities etc. It’s a brilliant game idea that was executed perfectly. Everyone should have it in their steam library
Totally chill designery game. I have no idea how I spent 7 hours on it.
chill game i like but DONT HIT THE CREDITS
I love its simplicity and how it adapts to different layouts to always make a scenic little island town.
Nice game to just sit back and relax for a bit.
This game is hands-down the best background game I’ve ever played! If you’re looking for something to keep your hands busy while you watch your favorite show or movie, this is it. The gameplay is simple and repetitive enough to play without needing too much focus, but it’s still satisfying and engaging.
The art style is relaxing, and the sound design is mellow, making it easy to enjoy without overwhelming whatever else you’re watching. Plus, it has just enough progression to keep you coming back, without requiring any major commitment.
I find myself losing track of time in the best way—watching episodes back-to-back while casually clicking away. It’s my new go-to for multitasking entertainment. Highly recommend for anyone who likes gaming in a more laid-back, low-stakes environment!
room for improvment but its mind numbingly entertaining
no refund after 3 months
I could be a really good game but whenever I open it the settings button keeps going in and out so I cant even play the game because I cant place anything.
Totally worth messing around with as a quick creative outlet. There's more variation in building than I initially thought, you just have to get creative in where you're building by looking at the map grid ahead of time.
You'll figure out which pieces to go back and delete for aesthetic purposes and what sun level looks the best with what colors- but I really like the night effect the best because all the little windows are lit up.
This is so cozy and relaxing!
It would be cool AF if you could make windmills.

Great zen game. The visuals, the sounds, and the way the building blocks connect to create beautiul towns are all deeply satisfying.
you cant name one bad thing about this can you? (and if u can you probs dont like the genre)
Therapeutic. The digital equivalent of popping bubble-wrap.
Super relaxing, cute and colorful game. Soothing.
Ideal if you work in an office or a stressful environment, and need to relax a little.
Allows you to get a bit creative without caring for resources or management of any kind, you just click and a house pops out. And then a room. And then a building. And then a town. Acolorful cute little chill town.
I'd say it's worth the price, if it feels cheap for your pocket, go for it. People spend way more on cigarretes and pills and they're not nearly this soothing.
Cute Cute Cute
Tiny Glade. I've seen the new one on the block. This is similar but it seems less flexibility. However, they are the same genre. Relaxing. Fun to create within the limited parameters. But ultimately there is not much to it. You will get bored pretty quickly. Can't walk around in your creation. Not populated. All very sterile. So with that warning it's ok and deserves a little love and care but don't expect a long shelf life. I'd assume just like Tiny Glade.
no click and drag to build- makes laying out your city an extreme chore. do not get game unless its on sale as its not worth it at og price... or just don't buy
very limited ,not interesting ,even on sale i dont recommend it ... instead of buying this ,. just go and buy Tiny Glade or Bulwark Evolution or Dystopika ,, these games worth it
it's very relaxing and allows for u to build whatever you want.
solid game :D
relaxing, fun and enjoyable with enough room for creativity. needs to be improved in some areas, but worth the money.
get this game when its on sale, its fun but really not much to do you wont get much play time out of it soooooooooooo its up 2 u. good to just chill to tho
8/10
Townscaper is a relaxing and fun little sandbox game where you build a town block by block. There's no tutorial or introduction—you start with a small island and a house. By placing blocks on a grid, new structures are automatically generated. Left-click places a block, and right-click removes it, while you can choose from a range of colors. It’s satisfying to see your town form and to discover how block combinations create different shapes, like stacking three blocks to make a small tower. The sound effects, especially when placing blocks, are really satisfying, and I love the small details like chairs and benches that appear as your town grows. While there's no in-game music, you can easily play your own in the background for a more relaxing experience.
If you're looking for a simple, creative game without any pressure or rules, Townscaper is definitely worth checking out.
I can't help but desire more from this game. It is incredibly relaxing, satisfying and one of the best townscapers out there, but I feel that more gameplay depth could be done. Even just being able to build higher platforms, or being able to build down, or being able to change the weather. Small things like those really. Also perhaps markets and gardens would be neat. I don't think this game is being worked on anymore and that's upsetting to me.
I am an architectural designers. I love this game (or should we say "simulation"). There is no assigned goal in this game but you will experience the joy of creation.
A free-form city-builder allowing you to create scenic coastal towns at your own leisure.

Townscaper provides you with a patch of ocean divided into tiles by an uneven grid, any of which you can place a block on, with the game automatically turning said block into a building that fits the space. Placing blocks on neighboring tiles causes them to connect, forming larger structures which you can essentially expand endlessly. The created buildings adapt to their surroundings, with their parts developing different features based on their shape and the contents of neighboring tiles. Through this basic system, you can create towers, arches, platforms and more, influencing the shape of your creation with every block placed or removed.
To breath some more life into the structures you create, Townscaper also automatically adds decorative elements, such as benches, stairs, clothes lines or perching birds to the basic building complexes. You may also change the colour of the bocks you place, giving you a bit more creative freedom as well as more influence over the created shapes, as differently coloured blocks will connect in different ways from those of the same colour. Using this basic system, you can create a surprisingly large number of unique structures, discovering all of which is quite a fun process itself.
Beyond this basic gameplay, Townscaper gives you some basic options to adjust the look of your creation, letting you change the position of the sun as well as the overall way everything is rendered. You can also export images of any size as well as the underlying 3D mesh you've created at any point. Beyond that, there are sadly no customization options, meaning you're stuck with the random grid you're given as well as the costal aesthetic and the limited pastel colour palette. While working around these limitations can certainly be fun - as showcased by some of the creations people have already come up with online - I found things to be a bit too restrictive, quickly leading me to feel like I've done and seen everything on offer. Townscaper also doesn't give you any goals or nudges in new directions, meaning that your enjoyment of the game beyond the first 1-2 hours very much hinges on your creative drive and how far you want to push the simple systems the game offers.
Presentation-wise, Townscaper has a gorgeous aesthetic, with everything looking picturesque and evoking feelings of quaint costal town vacations. This is very much complemented by fantastic interaction design that makes all actions you perform feel meaningful. You may only be able to place or remove blocks, but both actions feel snappy and satisfying thanks to well-crafted animations, particles and sound effects. Beyond this, Townscaper features light sound design that works well with the chill vibe of the game but hardly stands out. Sadly, there's also a distinct lack of music, which I think is a shame, seeing as I felt that the few piano keys played when viewing the credits felt right at home with the overall atmosphere.

While I personally was quickly done exploring the possibilities of Townscaper and found its limitations rather restrictive, it's a well-crafted little tool that people are using to create incredible structures. Give it a try if you want an outlet for creativity or are curious about procedural model generation.
A charming and relaxing city building game with no objectives or challenges, Townscaper lets you effortlessly create colorful towns. It can get boring after a while but, it's still fun for quick creative sessions.
Nice, great little sounds, good stuff all around, simple and endless and timeless and chill.
OBVIOUSLY A VERY LOVELY GAME!
but i do have a few things i'd like to be added
-more colour choices
-the manual choice between grass/stone flooring
-the ability to make the terrain less curved
in the town. straight up "scaping it". and by "it", haha, well. let's just say. My town.
This game pulled me out of a deep depression in 2022. This is one of those games that you need to play in order not to think about bad things. If something bad happens, it’s better to go into it and calm down
A really nice, relaxing game, especially to kill time. I'd love to see little people, dogs, cats, etc., walking around, entering buildings, interacting, and whatnot. That would be a cute little addition.
Here 2 things you should add to game 1 workshop 2 faster placement
This game is quite enjoyable when you want to take your mind off of something, though it does get repetitive. Having small people that walk around from building to building seems like a good idea, and maybe cars that drive on cleared paths.
Great game very satisfying and visually pleasing would defo recommnd
Cool chill game. There’s a lot of things you can do in the game that I have not experience, at least.
Would’ve been even better if there was a workshop
