Short and cute, really nice voiceover
Very sweet cosy game. Nice back story. Maybe a little short but worth it for the price
Lovely chill game, with interesting characters and a unique kind of mechanic where you restore broken items and assemble them for the people that need it. Affirming messages throughout, particularly regarding the repairing of broken relationships. Easily finished within an hour or two, complete with a cute soundtrack.
A fun little game about fixing relationships while you fix their possessions. The game is simple, but there is something satisfying about tearing things down and fixing them. It's a unique concept and I enjoyed it. I enjoyed Monument and Monument 2, so figured I'd check this out. Worth a quick play through.
Such a cute little game!
Short for the price (1.7 hour playtime), but I would have still been happy paying full price on this game (I bought for $2.39). The story, game-play, and the music are what made me enjoy this game!
The person I could best imagine enjoying this experience is perhaps someone nine or ten years old, or someone who finds comfort in consuming content intended for children. Personally, I found everything outside the admittedly competent sound and visual design to be unsatisfying. The story and minigames are - well, childish. They lack all but the most rudimentary subtlety and challenge, quickly becoming monotonous. The modelling of the old-timey devices is disappointingly simplistic. The voice acting is overdone and tedious - a problem that is only worsened by the bloated script - to the point I could only stand to complete the game with the V.O. turned off.
The runtime is mercifully short, and on sale the price is low so I will not be refunding this product. Still, I got more out of the couple minutes spent writing this review than the 1.4 hours I spent in-game.
Cute little game with beautiful music and voice acting. The writing was pretty simplistic and cozy. Wanted more puzzles and less picture book. If you're looking for a chill hour and a half, this'll do it for you.
Just a short cute puzzle game, works the brain but not in a frustrating sense. A good short time killer.
an incredibly vute game with the most amazing artwork and a nice soundtrack, just wish i could have played this for longer
Only recommend buying at its historical lowest price—the game is just too boring, and the gameplay is very short. Giving it a thumbs-up only because the protagonist is female.
Though very short in gameplay, the mechanics are quite fun to mess around with and the story does have a good message and meaning behind it. This was fun to play and if you enjoy a casual game with unique gameplay, definitely give this one a go!
Eh, tiny, tiny game with tiny amount of actual gameplay. 14 levels...? Although I'd hardly count unpacking a suitcase and then another level packing it back up as levels. *It's more of a story book than a game.* I agree with other reviews that the advertising is misleading. Most of your time will be taken by listening to a story while everything makes it seem like you'll be repairing stuff. The repairs are very basic, no depth to them. It will take you less than 90min to listen and beat everything. Probably around half an hour of gameplay if you skip the story. Also you can feel that this is a mobile game port... Just meh all around. Would not buy it knowing what it really is, hence not recommended.
It hit me that there are demos longer than this game...
Short, relaxing, stylish, touching. Great story with good messaging, enhanced by great voice acting.
At first, though, it felt like I am just randomly fiddling with equipment due to lack of clear instructions or a tutorial, but eventually I picked up the pace.
It's still fun, albeit very short. Recommended to buy this on a sale.
An excellent slice of life game about the human condition. Honestly, I was surprised by the game's quality upon first playing it. The voice acting is immaculate and refreshing, as are the visuals. Timeless piece about thoughtfulness towards others, one that I'd require people to play.
Wonderful graphics, a nice little heartwarming story about forgiveness and understanding, and relaxing gameplay that I wish lasted a little bit longer. I enjoyed Assemble with Care very much but with such a short runtime and very few levels, I'm relieved I got it while it's on sale.
It's more like an Audiobook with a touch of assembling items.
⭐ Graphics are pretty and cozy. Too bright for a dark mode person.
⭐ Game is chill and cozy. No timer.
⭐ Texts with VA narration.
⭐ Puzzles are fun.
⭐ Can achieve 100% with the whole story. No need to eSport this game.
⭐ Voice Acting is nice.
🚫 Too short. Better buy this during a sale.
🚫 There are some wonky controls.
🚫 Sometimes narration is not synced with the fixing, keeps repeating like "something's missing."
Came here to fix things, left having my heart fixed instead :') <3
Beautiful game that builds bonds and connect family together,
adding the touch of little sounds and music;
the game have me completely in tears and happiness
Really nice story, I absolutely loved the puzzles. Yeah it's a bit short but I think it's totally worth it.
Unfortunately pretty "meh".
Completed in about 90 minutes. I liked the general design and aesthetics of the puzzles, but the clumsy controls made it too frustrating to be relaxing. The story wasn't strong enough to carry the weak puzzle experience.
The mechanics sound interesting but unfortunately it's just very short and the repairs are far too easy. It's almost like a repair version of a walking simulator--really more about the story than the actual game play. Unfortunately the story just isn't enough. It's sweet but it's trite and predictable. The interface is a bit cumbersome as well. All too often I wanted to rotate something but ended up clicking the slightly wrong spot and putting it back. For the price it's not unreasonable but, in the end, I just kept hoping it would through something a bit more challenging into the mix. The game has some cool ideas, if they do a part two it could be really interesting.
Assemble with Care is one of those games, that you can finish within 2-3 hours and is not really a challenge, but the story that you follow can stay with you for much, much longer. It's almost a visual novel, where you are a protagonist walking into some small city with it's small problems. Luckily you are able to solve a lot of them with your golden hands. After finishing the game I've given my brother a call and spoke to him for some time to ask how he is, and we had a lot to talk about... If you like games with easy puzzles, then this one is perfect (just watch out for clicking too fast - you'll detach something instead of attaching). For me it's a solid 8/10 game for one evening.
As others have said the controls are a little wonky at times and the game is short but...personally I don't mind. It short, and sweet and to the point. Nice and tactile too, which is what mattes in a game like this. Yes, I definitely enjoyed my time with the game and if you want to tinker for a bit this'll scratch that itch.
Lovely game, with a nice story. I do wish it were longer though, as I completed it just under an hour - would recommend buying it on special rather than full price for that reason.
Cute short relaxing puzzle game about fixing old tech with a story background.
Playtime: 1-2 hours
Achievements: Very easy
Overall: Recommended
this is a pleasant hour or so of stylish, rather light puzzling set to gentle music and a calm atmosphere, punctuated by some feel-good visual novel stuff providing context for the Fixing of Things.
the themes it touches on are wholesome but i wasn't moved or impressed by that aspect very much, personally.
that being said, i went in mostly blind and picked it up for less than $3 USD simply for the style of the puzzles and the novelty of Taking Things Apart and Putting Them Back Together, and don't feel like that was wasted in the slightest.
if you're curious I recommend getting it on sale, simply due to how short it is.
Very short, very endearing puzzle game of light-medium difficulty (depending on your familiarity with the objects I suppose) about repairing broken objects and broken parts of relationships.
I like that it encourages taking a look inward to make amends with people in your life rather than focusing on how other people are behaving or what you perceived them to do to you . It's that whole locus of control thing.
The manipulation of the objects can be a little fiddly and I would guess keyboard + mouse is probably the easiest way to play as there are a few parts that require a bit more finesse.
Voice acting is quite nice and the aesthetics are simple, bright, and cheery. Achievements can't be missed if you complete the whole thing. Goes on sale often. 4/5 for me for what it is - great to play in between some more heavy or long games.
Fun little game. Spent a couple hours to complete it.
The art direction has to carry a great deal of the experience here, and it just can't.
The delivery of the dialogue is perfectly fine, but the writing is really pretty agonising to sit through, and the narrative is primarily delivered through PowerPoint presentations of art with voice over.
The gameplay itself feels clunky and kind of unpleasant to control, while the puzzles are fairly simple throughout most of the game, with random elements added occasionally during.
Having bought it on sale for $3 canadian, I'm really not too upset, but it was pretty disappointing, and having seen claims that this exemplifies games as art, I couldn't contain myself.
If you want games as art, try Venba, Journey, or Portal. What people mean when they say games like this are "video games as art" is that it fed them easily digestible nuggets of emotion in the format of some other form of art, in this case a graphic novel.
The game is so so cute and fun. I loved Joseph story and the voice acting was inmaculate! Amazing job you guys!
Either a short story about human relationship or a single psychotherapy session. Both with a couple of cute puzzles.
Two hours filled with a lot of heart.
Uninteresting, basic story, with sort of interesting "repair" mechanics. Nice visuals, but very simple. I completed the game in just under 90 minutes, If you want to get it, fine, but make sure it's on sale at a steep discount; there's a lot of other games out there with more gameplay for less money.
Way too short and not at all what i expected.
Was looking for a puzzle game with progressing difficulty. Instead was given about 12 problems to fix most of which being a literally cracked sound card removal and replace...
"Hmm i wonder why it isnt working"
Gee maybe because these literal 2 out of 6 pieces are blackened and cracked... and you gave me spare pieces to fix it before i even disassembled the device.
Also did not need the mindless estranged sister gen z BS story.
Gimme my $2 back
Fucks sake regular price is $8!
This game is worth $0.49 MAYBE
The game's alright. It's very dialogue heavy so it plays more like a visual novel than a game. This is undercut somewhat by the story being basic and very surface level. It's sweet though, and the artstyle is gorgeous. The actual gameplay is on the level of a walking sim: click screw one, click screw two, replace lightbulb, replace screw two, replace screw one. Menial tasks that only serve to distract from the basal story. Can't really be called puzzles, and you'll be scratching your head at how anyone in this town doesn't just fix their own items. The items in question are not really realistically laid out either, and show only a base level understanding of electronics, for instance. All in all, it's a good nab at a 70% sale but even then it'll only take you an hour to run through everything and leave you wondering if those two bucks may have been better spent on something else.
EDIT: One more thing I just remembered: the controls are absolute ass. Your left mouse button is the only thing you get, resulting in the simple act of turning around the item you're working on turning into a life or death struggle between the item flopping back to the table, or you accidentally grabbing components you already replaced THROUGH the back of the machine. It really grinds the already basic gameplay to a halt.
This game is pretty mediocre. The graphics are nice, but the game play is not great.
My most pressing issue is that the game is too focused on the story. I'd say the advertising for the game is misleading in this sense. I'm pretty sure I spent more time listening to dialogue than doing repairs. It's not very well written and the story is pretty shallow.
Unfortunately, the repair part of the game is also underwhelming. There is not much variation when it comes to mechanics, leading to the game play getting rather monotonous. The occasional gimmick could be fun if the controls weren't clunky and sometimes confusing.
Luckily it's pretty short (took me 93 minutes).
Controls are a little wonky and the price is a little high for only an hour's worth of content, but eh whatever.
It's got cute art, neat and fun puzzles, a cool story with great voice acting so yeah it's still worth your time and money.
Spark notes; short (closer to two hours than three, playtime includes brief IRL breaks), elegant, well-designed, and lovely, if a bit predictable and somewhat "basic" with regards to its storytelling. I do feel like this was designed as more of a style-over-substance fare, but considering its asking price—relatively low, in the grand scheme of things—that's not exactly a negative. The game lacks a conventional tutorial and instead eases you into the mechanics (both in the gameplay and, er, kinetic sense, ha) with each level either adding something new or iterating on something from the previous restorations. It makes for a fairly relaxing, no-bumps ride that doesn't overstay its welcome; save for one instance of me being air-headed, the rest of the game flows pretty smoothly and ends just before the "core loop" becomes boring, so to speak.
The puzzle equivalent of a cappuccino break; sweet, warm, and just about long enough to distract you from whatever you ought to get back to afterwards. Not much else to add—and, frankly, that's just fine.
14 short missions, more complicated than a little to the left but I expected more.
If you are looking for a chill little Indie game that has a nice little story then you have come to the right place. This game has some nice chill music and just makes you feel relaxed. Gives you an idea of what its like to see how items are taken apart and put back in order. Nice character development thought out the game. It wont take that long to play but its relaxing. I was hoping it would be a bit longer.
Assemble with Care is a narrative-driven puzzler with both main aspects of the game being mediocre at best. I enjoyed the visual style of the game and the concept, but the writing is subpar with the main protagonist solving other people's life problems while fixing their broken possessions in the most shallow way. It's heavy-handed, naive and worst of all, predictable.
The puzzles are fine - nice and simple as they should be in a game like this, but the controls are wonky leading to some mildly annoying situations. It's only two hours long and I was happy it was over.
5 OUT OF 10
A quick and fun little puzzle game. Definitely not too challenging but still very fun with a sweet and cozy story.
A virtual picture book that's mostly story and light on gameplay. Bittersweet storytelling, a gentle soundtrack, and little to no challenge solving puzzles. Reignited my nostalgia for the analog age, but I got bored by the fifth repair job. Did not finish the game, so if it gets more interesting later on I wouldn't know. Still recommend because it's peaceful and thoughtfully made.
short, sweet, simple! A good pastime <3 with fulfilling storytime.
WOW this UI is masterful. sooooo pretty, the art is gorgeous and atmospheric too, and the sound design is delicious.
it's a little too story heavy for me personally, but that's so subjective. and the voices are awesome. sometimes the controls feel janky or unintuitive to me.
(the following is really feedback for the devs if they make a second one or add some quality of life updates:)
for instance, the screwdriver automatically leaves my hand after each screw, this is annoying as there are typically many screws to unscrew. I also find myself frustrated with the function that replaces which item is your focus when clicking the center. because say im putting the lid back on something, if i misclick by even a little bit i switch to focusing on the lid instead of placing the lid where it goes. it feels very inefficient having to undo that all the time.
those are literally my only complaints tho, pretty nitpicky! this is an extremely well crafted game and worth the play!
A cutesy game <3
I like tinkering around with stuff in real life too, so it was a nice, calming experience in addition to the heartwarming storyline.
Fun and short. Puzzles aren't overly difficult, but do require some thought.
Very relaxing + lovely story = Me having a good time
Sweet story with the perfect puzzles to go along with.
"Assemble with Care" is a delightful experience! It was so much fun taking things apart and putting them back together, with each puzzle feeling like its own little adventure. The game's soothing atmosphere and charming visuals make it a perfect cozy escape for unwinding after a long day. If you enjoy relaxing yet engaging games, this one is a must-try.
A cute little game with nice mechanics that give good feedback and feel rewarding. The story is quite good, I enjoyed it a lot. Playtime is only 3 hours, but for the price it's well worth it, and the exceptional voice acting and visuals definitely are worth it.
Wish I could play more I've enjoyed it so much.
Assemble with Care is a beautiful little set of family stories pretending to be a beautiful little set of repair sim games.
It's not particularly deep, but it's beautiful and poignant and I think it does a remarkable job of giving people a gentle nudge, in one way or another.
