Explore the mysterious Azuma Manor and do battle with the Yoki that lurk within, all while solving devilishly clever mechanical puzzles.

Kwaidan offers a seamless merging of 3D action and point-and-click adventure game elements, allowing for a truly unique play experience.
Players move and fight through the world in 3D, but can call up a cursor to examine points of interest at any time.
The result is an action-adventure unlike any other.

In sharp contrast to recent action games, which seek to deliver player satisfaction above all else, Kwaidan was designed from the ground up to deliver highwire suspense from beginning to end.
Nightmarish Yoki and fiendishly clever puzzles obstruct your path through the manor, but overcome these obstacles, and a profound sense of catharsis awaits.

Enjoy retro polygon graphics that evoke classic games of the early 2000s, with film-reel-style presentation that transports players to a secluded mountain manor from the earliest days of Japan's Showa era.
Features:
- Severe 3D action that requires precise operation and accurate judgment.
- A point-click adventure element that lets you fully enjoy the fun of exploration.
- Japanese retro romantic world of the 1930s (early Showa era) brought to life by classical techniques.
- Equipped with a “mode selection function” that allows you to enjoy changes in operation methods and graphics.

Extremely charming homage to PS1 and PS2 survival horror, tank control games crossed over with a point and click adventure. You have an option to play without tank controls as well, though I didn't check that out personally.
The game itself is pretty short but the puzzles were enjoyable without stumping too hard, and I did see a guide was posted if you need more help.
I saw some negativity around the point and click aspect around online reviews but I didn't find it too troublesome. You can inspect a lot of the environment and I didn't run into trouble using it to get through doors or pick things up. During a fight if you think you'll need to use medicine you can simply hover your mouse on it.
It seems typical for this sort of game but you do want to be careful hoarding heals, especially in the final section. I played badly so I had no healing for the last few fights and essentially had to play perfectly to beat the game, but even when I was at my worst there was a way forward to save and then heal a tiny bit more.
I think this is a nice pickup for the atmosphere and unique experience, but like some said you may want to wait for a sale if $25 seems too steep for a 3-5 hour experience. There is some replay value in beating the game on the two modes and also for playing without being damaged a single time, but I don't think I'll go for those.
Amazing Game
A modern blast from the past. I wish more indie games were like this; short, sweet, with a solid 3D art style that is neither pixel art, high fidelity, or PSX inspired 3D models with too much dithering. I really liked this game, story is nice and simple, the map is tight and well planned out. Encounters with enemies sometimes feel bad because the tank controls demand really tight execution but for the most part, because of the game's length, it's fine. Highly recommend this one! Good job Taguchi-san!
Its a pretty good game with some caveats. The game has a great visual style and controls that feel half classic and half uniquely innovative. Most boss fights play out like a light puzzle with some timing required to get hits in. The game does require some patience due to some intentionally slow movement, deliberate attacks, and nicely animated but admittedly long cutscenes for common actions like going up and down floors of the manor. If you play on origin mode like I did the fixed camera angles will fight you a lot, they give the impression of being chosen for cinematic reasons and not gameplay reasons. If that is an issue for you then the modern mode will be the way to go.
plays a bit like kuon. the game definitely takes some getting used to, the controls are very clunky. overall the game is good, my only main gripe is the final area having far too many areas to be fun and the bit after the last boss... as there is a sudden camera change and my character decided to turn around and get instantly killed :)
vry good
