I wanted to enjoy this but I didnt. The UI of this game is so overwhelming when it doesnt need to be. The game hand holds and railroads you so much that you dont really get to choose stuff. Decor is not fun and managing tenants is actually super basic and boring. The synopsis lead me to believe this was a much more interesting game. Theres so much potential.
This would be a great game... if it still worked. It no longer seems to get along with the workshop, and gets stuck in the "updating workshop items" part of the loading screen. Restarting the game (and Steam) a dozen times tonight, I got the game to actually start up once. It ran until I took a job, then crashed trying to load it. I'd really like to keep my workshop items, as the base game floors, walls, and furniture get old really fast.
I really liked it before these issues started for me, but it's been over a year since people started complaining about it, and still nothing.
This game looked like it was right up my alley! Fun gameplay, nice art design, management game—-however when it continuously crashed EVERY SINGLE TIME when I was in the TUTORIAL, I sadly gave up. Wish I could’ve experienced it but the game would not work for longer than 4 minutes tops. Maybe whenever a new update drops I’ll try again :/
2.5 / 5 stars. I'm enjoying the Tenants, but I don't know I'd call it a management game. It's like 5% property and tenant management, 95% interior design. I appreciate the ability and resource progression conceptually, but its definitely balanced for a game that is closer to 50% property and tenant management...
Does anyone know why my tenants are becoming un-selectable when they gain a "claim" thing? Is this a bug or is it something I am doing wrong? I can't bring up the individual tenant menus where options like "research" and "gift" are. Only whole property menus.

I absolutely love this game, but I cannot recommend it. The game is completely unfinished (there is a three part map and you can't even access the third part) and the devs have said they will not be finishing it. The game is riddled with bugs, sometimes game breaking, but there will be no future updates or bug fixes.
You can still get a lot of fun out of the game if you don't get too frustrated with bugs.
I`ve been OBSESSED with this game for about 2 weeks now. Unfortunately, i`m at a spot where the game keeps crashing. I`ve just built a 12,000 apartment in the suburbs, and during the open house my whole game crashes.
The Tenants is a relaxing and beautiful game at its core, but I strongly discourage anyone from purchasing it. I’ve started three different playthroughs and played a total of 43 hours. While the game is playable, it is riddled with bugs that severely hinder the experience.
For example, in every run I attempted, I was unable to complete the tutorial due to a bug in the “Babysitter” mission. This issue not only blocks progress but also prevents access to certain future power-ups, which is incredibly frustrating.
Other bugs frequently occur during building and renovation. Constructing walls and removing windows often results in glitches, like the flooring becoming uniform across rooms even when divided. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
The gameplay itself becomes very repetitive over time, which leads to boredom. However, these flaws would have been tolerable if the developers hadn’t abandoned the game entirely. The Tenants has received no updates for over a year, despite having an incomplete roadmap prominently displayed in the main menu. The lack of even a basic bug-fix patch feels unfair, especially when the game is plagued by issues—I personally encountered at least 15 bugs in my 40+ hours of play.
It’s truly a shame because the concept behind The Tenants is fantastic. Unfortunately, the execution and lack of developer support leave it as a disappointing experience. I recommend avoiding the game and being cautious of these developers on Steam in the future.
Great game but is essentially unplayable as it crashes CONSTANTLY. There is s permanent message in the game that says to use the 'in game feedback tool' if you come across a bug - how is this possible when the game wont even play? Probably why it was reduced. Shame.
Highly addictive and satisfying game. If you like House Flipper you'll love this. Progress can be a little slow at times so you have to be willing to graft, which I enjoy anyway. Love the quirky jobs and the funny little details in reference to movies or other games. Super enjoyable all round!
This game was at one point one of my go to's but I haven't touched it in forever due to its current state. I would not recommend this game to anyone, even if you like this type of game. The sheer amount of bugs is insane! I bought the Pets DLC a while ago in hopes it would fix some things but it has somehow made the game even worse! I can't play for more than 10 minutes without it becoming unplayable. This game had so much promise but it is clear that the developer has no plans to ever fixing anything. All that current and past players have been/ are asking for is a playable game, but it is clear that that will never happen.
Game is fun has lots of things to explore in game.
Base game is excellent, loved looking after homes / tenants, and the customisation is good.
However, like everyone else, as soon as I tried the DLC I ran into issues.
Game bugged out, I lost my save, ran into a few glitches (some game breaking), and game would freeze on title screen, or just show me a black screen.
There is a work around, but honestly I don't think it's worth it because the devs seemed to have abandoned this game.
It was fun at first but I honestly got really bored of it after just a few days of playing it. It's very repetitive just in different areas. The whole babysitting aspect is also kind of annoying and decorating a place for a job, you can make it look incredibly ugly but still pass due to have required items, and that removes the incentive for me to want to put in the effort. I think something that could make this game better is if it decided what it wanted to be. Life sim, city building, or a managing game. When it tries to be everything, it gets very overwhelming and I no longer even feel like i'm playing a game, I just see it as a chore and a job. Sorry for the harsh criticism. Just don't see myself trying to play this game again after trying it out for 16 hours.
A mix of Sims and House Flipper, this game is highly recommended for anyone looking for another chill creative challenge game - renovate properties, take on side jobs, and generally keep your tenants happy while trying to increase your income and unlock new parts of town. It's a good mix of challenge while not being overly stressful. Seems to be slightly buggy, but there is a report bugs feature, and so far the bugs haven't caused any major crashes or loss of game play. (Actions on occasion don't register unless I leave and come back in.) The design aspect of renovations has a broad range of features and furniture to choose from, and progressing through the game continues to unlock additional items. You can also use accumulated points towards unlocking additional skills such as offering 6 month and year long leases, faster repairs and maintenance, and increased open house time.
Overall a very fun game that is easy to pick up quickly.
Although the game has that mobile game poly look, the game is actually pretty good.
I kept reading comments about bugs and i was very skeptical to buy it. after 14 hours i only encountered one and that was minor. if you like house flipper and similar games this is very enjoyable.
I understand the game has not been updated for over a year now, but the base content is quite enjoyable for me. I didn't purchase the DLC as many warned the fact that it would break the game. I don't regret getting it during a sale, decorating every little rooms, helping my tenants with their requests and slowly growing my properties. I have thoroughly enjoyed it so far.
Well, I actually quite like the game, as it seem the game is mainly abandoned or well, the publisher doesn't allow for updates etc, which also makes it impossible to get on the normal way a achievement for example etc.
In general I quite like the game but what happened with it is kinda meh and from what I figured out how stuff has developed.
Super chill and relaxing game! Is a lot more fun than I was anticipating it to be! It's become my winding down game of the night before bed! 10/10 would recommend for someone who likes simulator games!

This game is amazeballz. I have never been interested in creative games, but since my uncle is a landlord I have to say this game slays.
Mechanics are great, story is great, pets are great, building is great, graphics are great and tenants are great.
Shout out to the developers on this amazing gem... I'm sure it will grow to be a fan favourate. As for the bugs, improvements and ideas, I will post on a discussion on wt I think would be really cool along with addressing some issues in the game.
Like others have said, the DLC has broken the game. As soon as i try continue my game it hard exits to the desktop, just closes itself. Over all the game, as far as i got to play, was fun and simple.
This game can be mad frustrating specifically due to the tutorial bugs. The tutorials are invasive, so they'll pop up even when you're in the middle of doing something else, and sometimes if you are mid-click, you advance the tutorial instead of continuing your project, which immediately breaks the tutorial. The only way to get out of this is to restart the game and lose any progress you'd made while the tutorial was active. Since the game sometimes relies on RNG, this is extremely infuriating. For this reason alone I cannot recommend the game. I lost so much progress the first time this happened, and I have been hesitant to play it since.

I read people complaining about crash for buying pet dlc. I buy it and there is no issue. I would recommend this game to you. Be careful! This game make you addicted :D
I quit this game when I wouldn't play any games for long at all, lol. Going through my backlog now I tried to get back into this but it just seemed repetitive. I can understand if you want to decorate the apartments that you have jobs with, and like that kind of thing, but it just wasn't satisfying me. I recommend this game if you like that part, but it's just doing the same decorating and waiting for other things. I did not play it long so it might get better but I don't really want to as I have many other games on my backlog.
I downloaded this game thinking why not give it a shot, it was on sale. I am SO glad that I bought this game - I can't stop playing it so far. It has kept me very entertained, is never boring and always has something to do. I think it's a great management game if you are a fan of the SIMS and SIM City it's like a little bit of both. I usually do not like games that have pixel style graphics but I really do like this game. I would highly recommend if you like management games this one is worth a try!
Was really looking forward to playing this game. What a wasted potential. The premise is great, but the execution and UI sucks. Game wants to implement various mechanisms but fail, like the devs have bitten off more than they can chew. Also, writing this review after the game crashed. (Win 11).
The game takes ages to load (measure in minutes nor seconds), and completely unoptimized. Then, there are two aspects to start off, one- your own property and second- contract jobs. Gets stuck when trying to do something with your own property and nothing clicks. Takes a while to figure out why, because all the clicking does nothing. "Can't start cleaning before heating is installed." Why the hell not?
No, do not buy this game until the devs actually employ some decent UI/UX designer to figure out basic shit. What a dissapointment.
Definitely a fun game! Having to track money and disasters can be some trouble, but once you have a few places going it can be smooth. The story seems good too. Trying to get the Prestige scores in the beginning is annoying and I still struggle a decent amount of the time, but overall I would definitely recommend the game.

This game is absolutely sht, i got on sale for 5$ but honestly it should be for free. It feels unfinished, the gameplay is bland and boring, it's really on the surface. It might be entertaining for kids but extremely shallow for adults.
It's pretty fun. It's all the things I like about the Sims, without the stuff I don't. Not a fan of the pet DLC, but maybe it'll grow on me.
Was really enjoying the game that much i ended up buying the pets DLC. That was the biggest mistake i could of made im now stuck on the tutorial unable to complete the first pet adoption due to a bug they haven't fixed in over a year. Steer clear until they've fixed the game
Edit: Seems they've abandoned the game things got to tough for them and they jumped ship disappointing. Looks like the game they moved onto blockbuster inc also is having a hard time avoid these games.
I really wanted to love this game. The idea is awesome. I generally enjoy this type of game, and was excited to grab it on sale for Black Friday. Unfortunately it crashes so often that it is practically unplayable. I have had it for 3 days, and it has crashed at least 6 times; often in the middle of a remodel, making you redo all of your work. This is really frustrating, and I hope they fix it. It would be a great game if it wasn't constantly crashing.
I do have the pets dlc. I bought them both at the same time because they were on sale, and as such am not certain if it is the base game or just the dlc causing the crashes. Regardless, the dlc adds quite a bit of content and gameplay, and if it is the dlc, it still needs to be fixed.
I'm not sure this game is for everyone, but it definitely works for me. To echo other reviews, yes, it can feel repetitive. But this is not necessarily a bad thing. If you want a consistently relatively-chill experience (one you can easily pause, do something else, and return to two hours later), it's perfect. I have played 16 hours so far, and haven't left the first area (1/3). I enjoy slowly growing my empire and getting to know the different tenants' needs and likes. I expect many more hours of relaxed fun and hopefully some future DLCs.
I am really enjoying this game. I have not really encountered many bugs as other reviews have stated. It is challenging but only stressing me out a little bit :) Some of it is not super intuitive but it's easy to catch on to and it offers support throughout the game. My biggest complaint is some of the challenges feel impossible because they require so many items for an incredibly small space that I physically cannot figure out how to place so I have to quit and receive negative feedback. I am not bored of it yet but I can see myself getting bored and then returning later which I do with most games. Overall, it is better than expected and not buggy which I feared from other reviews upon purchasing. I love remodeling and there are lots of items to choose from which is fun.

So mostly you just renovate the apartment and then the fun of seeing the life in action is basically limited to a few childish events such as earthquake or rat invasion...
Which is a shame, as you can really try hard and create some wonderful lofts and apartments... Only to find out tenants do not appreciate all the effort and do not even use half of the fancy equipment you installed for them...
Lot of wasted potential here. Also the pixelation / poly 3d is meh. Its fine on objects, flat and furniture, but the people look just awfull. If there was higher detail, more zoom, it might be an interesting almost sims-like adventure.
As things are, I can only recommend this in a huge sale and I am still afraid you will get bored quite soon.
I like it a lot, its fun and has nice little quirky quests and items. I play if from time to time or run it while i'm doing something else with the volume up so i know when my tenants are being consumed by the demons seeping out from under the floorboards. its a pretty good low stress game that doesn't always require full attention, i find myself regularly going back to it.

This is such an incredibly buggy game. I've had graphical bugs with odd overlays showing up, things showing me that they need to be completed when I've already done them and the only way to get it to work is to delete things and build them again, and jobs that are entirely unplayable because I can't click into them. Overall, I haven't been enjoying the game much so far especially because of the bugs. Trying to solve them has meant cancelling contracts and getting a horrible reputation or restarting the game which has no save option and I never know how much work I'm going to lose. I bought this on sale but still would not recommend it. I've been submitting bug reports for my issues via the in-game feedback option.

I think the game is really good. They've really put a lot of thought into what the rental business entails. It's fun to look after the tenants and renovate apartments in order to make a profit. A whole city is waiting to be conquered. You really grow fond of the tenants and get to know their character and needs.
I would definitely recommend buying it

Kind of got bored with it. It became just tedious work. I tried to come back to it months later but i still feel this was about this game. Something is missing but I dont know what. I dont feel any sense of accomplishment while playing. I just felt meh
DO NOT BUY - IT DOES NOT WORK NOW! Ever since the Pets DLC, the game has been broken. Players can't even get past the loading screen. The developer seems to have abandoned the game.
It's a shame - the game was really fun before the update broke it.
