Don't buy this game at full price. It's a great rendition of Tetris, but $40 is way too steep of an asking price. Wait for a sale.

With that out of the way, please play this. It's still Tetris, so you know it'll be good, but the visuals are breathtakingly beautiful and the soundtrack, while slightly uneven, absolutely soars with its highs. The sound design is immaculate, making the movements of your pieces fit the music of the stage results in so many levels that you can play in a rhythmic way, deliberately moving pieces one way or the other for the sake of keeping the beat and melody alive.

Sometimes, you don't need more than pretty lights.

you'd want to get it on sale though. I can't justify the (PH Pricing) PHP 829.95 w/ just an okay single player length.

If you must have an addiction then I would recommend Tetris. After 40 years it hasn't been surpassed.

Overall good Tetris game. Journey mode isn't super long, maybe 3 hours if you're alright at Tetris, and the controls are a little bit clunky compared to some others I've played. I don't think it's surprising, but the visuals and music are outstanding and this will probably be my go-to chill Tetris just for that fact. Haven't explored the VR at all yet, but personally I think it's worth picking up if it's on a small sale.

If you love Tetris, and you are an audiophile (similar to me), then you will LOVE this game.

Fast pace or slower pace your choice. The Journey mode is a great take on "story mode" but done through music and solving puzzles. All the different modes in single player are great for getting better at playing or training to take on friends and other players in online. The battle mode with the time stop ability really adds to the pressure when playing Zone Battle. Score attack and Classic Score Attack makes me feel like I'm 4 years old again playing Tetris on the NES at my grandparents so they did well there. This is also my 4th version of the game I've played;

This game is awful. Anytime you play multiplayer you either get matched with someone who is WAYYYY better than you or you get matched with someone who just spams the zone. This is by far one of the worst versions of Tetris I have ever played. I don't get why it has such positive reviews, just because its Tetris with "beautiful" graphics and "music" doesn't mean its worth 40 fucking dollars and the "music" is just someone bitching about their life, I can listen to that IRL for free. From my experience this game sucks, the "music" is annoying and the matchmaking is absolute garbage. In fact, I could go on for hours about how awful this game is, but I don't feel like Doing that.

On Steam deck this game is essentially broken. Control inputs do not register, and essential inputs (hard drop) do not work at all. Even If I map hard drop to all of the back paddles I have to push it twice for it to register, and it sometimes registers twice for two presses, and sometimes once. A complete disaster. Uninstalled.

As an avid Jstris and Tetr.io player, I need more options for flips and spins and movement speed. I couldn't take how slow and clunky it felt.

This doesn't support the play station 5 controller, but the games exactly the same as the one on the ps5 or any other console

This is the best Tetris ever. It's a timeless game. IMHO, in contrast to all other Tetris implementations after the Gameboy, this is the first that really improves on the experience. Once a certain comfort is reached, the game helps to relax very much.

An one-time experience. Musically, and gameplay-wise, it sends shivers every single time. And even if the online multiplayer modes are a bit empty, the journey for singleplayer is a treat

In singleplayer, this is probably one of the best Tetris games out there. Multiplayer on the other hand is GENUINELY awful. If my opponents force close the game I get a message saying I've disconnected too much and will lose more rank for losing and gain less for winning when the ranking system is ALREADY abhorrent.

I have played against people who have never played the game before or people who are playing faster than the human limit of reaction time, and losing a game is far more punishing than winning a game is rewarding. I have put a large amount of my life into Tetris and I love the game, but I cannot stand the borderline unplayable state of the online scene. SR means absolutely nothing when you get paired with players that are either smurfing at low levels and cheating at higher ones.

I understand the high skill ceiling of Tetris and this is not about players who are actually good at the game, it's mostly about how garbage the online play and ranking as a whole. If I can get into games with people of my skill level and lose because of a misdrop, it is 10000x more preferable than getting into games with people that are straight up inhuman on either end of the skill spectrum.

I will continue to play for the love of the game and because I have spent money on this, but I would recommend that you go elsewhere for online 1v1.

Just amazing, I was never much of a fan of Tetris, but this game is truly a masterpiece, game-play wise, visually/creatively, and my god, the music. One of the few games I think everyone gamer or not should play, or just witness. A work of art.

This took my hyper-fixation to a new level. Absolutely beautiful graphics and gorgeous music, and I personally love the rumble feature when using a controller with the capability.

I personally own two copies of this game and the vinyl collection. I will continue to buy more for other people as this game is peak.

This is probably the definitive Tetris game, it has just about everything you could possibly want in a Tetris game.

This game makes me feel really, really cool for being kinda okay at stacking block- But for such an artsy-fartsy game some of the model animations are really jank.

Yeah, it's okay. It's little too much for tetris though. Keep it simple, not this over the top overstimulating mess. Still tetris and it is pretty decent.

Having beaten the main mode on normal difficulty, it's a good solid rendition of the idea that is all over the internet, which most computer science kids have tried to recreate, forever a property of the masses regardless of what one certain Pajitnov would say to the contrary. So, are the visuals/audio worth 31 quid? ...Not really. It most certainly succeeded in incorporating my panicked tile drops into the ebb and flow of the music. But then simultaneously, I beat it in less than 2 hours, and I frankly despise the idea of giving the 'Tetris Corporation' money, even for a decent and solid product.

As an aside, maybe it's having played it 10 years after it came out, but the overall... feel and vibe of the intensely optimistic music and visuals just seems... naive, to the point I completed it, and felt hollow inside. It's like a time capsule of the type of thing we were promised as kids, vs the shit hole we live in now. I also really noticed the specifically non-specific language of the lyrics? Like, it's as if it wants to be inspirational and nearly political, but desperately does not want to alienate anyone, so it has to resort to these vague meaningless statements. 'Unite all humans within our vision, be the person you were meant to be.' Maybe this is where those moronic inspirational Instagram '''influencers''' got it from.

Why yes, I am cynical and depressed. About the same as every other mf on the internet. Idk. Get it on sale.

I'm a fun of most if not all Tetris games and Tetris Effect: Connected is no exception! I really enjoy the music along with how it works with moving pieces! It's mostly just Tetris with new music and mechanics. 10/10

It's the game that got me into tetris. It's also so much more. I have only played in front of the TV so far, and even like that it's magical. I don't know what VR will do to me but I can't wait to try.

Well... its Tetris. Very pretty Tetris. Sometimes its so pretty that it can get a bit overwhelming, but thats all I can really say negative about this.

Everybody likes Tetris, and Effect is very cool for a single player experience. Sure, you have plenty of options to replay the classic game (Tetris DS or Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 are my favorites), some for free if you wanna, but when this is on sale, I think it's worth picking up for a fun time. Probably wanna make sure you can properly run it so it looks super good which I think is this games biggest selling point, as well as having a good monitor.

Dont even know where to begin. I am pretty biased as I already love Tetris and rhythm games, and although this isnt really a rhythm game per se, it incorporates the music so well. If youre in the right head space, this is a really good game to just lay back and play without a worry in the world. Am really close to getting platinum on PS4/5 and may just go for the achievements on steam as well just for the heck of it.

Super chill game. It's Tetris, but you can slow down time as you clear more lines. The graphics are trippy yet beautiful. The music is hype too, but it can sometimes get too distracting. Overall, I never feel guilty playing this game. It's relaxing and fun. 10/10 would recommend.

I only tried it in VR. I am not a big fan of Tetris (for now) but despite that it's quite the psychedelic and immersive experience, to the point that it’s sometimes hard to focus on the game as you get bombarded with a lot of crazy sounds and visual effects. It's really worth the price, especially if you like Tetris and have VR system.

RATING: 4 out 10. Incredible visual effects and music. A "story mode" that takes you through all the levels. Online game modes for competitive gaming and a leveling system to unlock avatars. Unfortunately poorly programmed for casual players. Even for easier difficulty the game shoots to maximum drop speed from time to time. Which is psychotically stupid on the dev's part for players who just want a enjoyable experience. Game pieces flash and rotate while playing, making it annoying when on higher levels.

To be honest I have played this game muted exclusively, with the exception of my first Journey mode playthrough (the first three hours or so). So, I'm not big on the gimmick, but outside of that, this is the best Tetris implementation on PC.

Super beautiful and addictive. Just a great chill-out game, but has a really high skill ceiling so there's loads of replay value.

This game is precisely everything it promises to be: Tetris with amazing visuals and adaptive soundtrack. I'll admit, as a first-time Tetris players, levels got really hard, but once I remembered about the hold ability I was able to beat the last level after a couple attempts. Definitely not gonna 100% this one but it's very good game.

The game is very fun and intuitive.I am practically addicted to it.The visuals are stunning and the effect modes can add a lot of variety to the gameplay.I have easily played over 200 hours of this game and am planning to play way more. Also FYI as someone who likes to listen to podcasts this game is a fantastic way to keep my hands busy while my brain is occupied

I picked up Tetris Effect on sale for about $20. The first time I played it was back in 2018 at PAX West when it was on PS4, and I really liked it then. So, getting it at a discount for Steam Deck last week was a nice deal.

A couple of things stood out while playing. In Journey Mode, moving between zones using the joystick feels really awkward and slow. At first, I thought something was broken, but it turns out you need to hold the joystick longer for it to register movement. It feels sluggish and unresponsive when it really should be snappy—it gave me the impression that my controller wasn’t working properly at first.

The Journey Mode itself only took about 1–2 hours to complete, but it was a great experience. The combination of music, visuals, and gameplay made it a lot more engaging than traditional Tetris. My family and I had fun just watching the background visuals while someone played, which added to the experience. After finishing Journey Mode, I unlocked Theater Mode, which lets you watch the visuals and listen to the soundtrack without actually playing. That was a nice touch.

Overall, Tetris Effect is a cool game, especially as something casual to play or to have on when guests are over. It worked really well on the Steam Deck, even at high graphic settings. That said, I still think $20 was a bit steep given the short length of Journey Mode. If it were closer to $10, I’d feel like I got a better deal.
