Deathdays End contains a whopping cast of 11 youths with over half controllable in this volume alone. Each of them have their own distinct quirks and methods to survive the ordeal thrust upon them. Will morality win over? Or does survival of the fittest trump all.

Nothing special about this one. Before the adults died, Arryn lived a quiet life with his mother and adopted sister, Marie. Technically speaking, he is the main character of this game and serves as an introduction to the world, however let's be realistic for a moment. Can a completely ordinary 17 year old boy with no talent whatsoever really survive such a messed up world? Does this face really look like that of a seasoned warrior?

Dorothy's legal institution is a school specially made for young criminals. With ferocious punishments including physical abuse dealt by teachers on whims, Rex is someone that already has the necessary qualities needed to tough it out in the new world. The question is, why doesn't he have a last n - I mean how far will he go in his quest for survival?
Fair warning: He's a self-proclaimed psychopath.

Appearances may be deceiving, but this guy's a genius through and through. Born into money and perfect grades, you'd think Marcus had it all. Of course, nobody can be that perfect and beyond his innocent smile is a world of pain before the international tragedy even begins. Having a rocky relationship with his parents and now having to look after his sweet but frail younger sister alone, Marcus Levesque will need to use all his wits and intellect for them to have a chance at coming out alive.

Suspension of disbelief can only go so far in regards to the suspension of a little girls body. There was no actual foreshadowing which is sort of essential in games like these? Ladders are pretty common in supply closets which are also decently often in or connected to a bathroom, so that being used as an excuse is kinda stupid. Also, when going to start the second episode there is only reference to male or female titles, no nonbinary; this makes me feel excluded and as if the creator tried to make it seem inclusive but failed horribly. not worth the cents I paid.
I really liked the potential for this game. I thought the story really started out interesting, even if it was a little bit slow moving. It is very incomplete though, and its been about a year and a half now since I played it and it has seen no update since then. I do not recommend it solely for the reason that it is probably not going anywhere.
I really love this game. It peaked my interest, and I'm curious to find out the rest of the game's story!
I recommend this visual novel, but take into consideration that this VN is also much shorter than most.
Just a casual-ish review. You play as three different main characters throughout three story volumes, with the first volume being the longest and serving as the introduction to the main story. Although the game as a whole is relatively short, there are choices to be made in each volume, as well as some grim and rather shocking moments to be uncovered as you read along. As implied by the developer, this is a teaser "demo" for a possible continuation of the story. All of that being said, if you're fine with the story being short and are still interested in giving it a try, I would recommend it. The rest of this review will just be my personal comments, so there's no need to read beyond this point unless you're curious.
Personal Comments:
If there is a continuation to this game, these comments are directed towards that subject.
-I liked the implementation of an "inventory" in certain segments of the game, although it didn't see a whole lot of use throughout. If there were certain choices that were locked behind the inventory system, I believe that would have improved the experience, and could be considered for the "sequel." For example, if the character comes across a room that leads to a separate ending, have it be locked behind the requirement of obtaining an item beforehand, such as a key. Using the item would allow access to an alternate ending or the alternate fate of a character that also makes the inventory system have more significant impact on the story. Another option is to add additional choices in certain conflicts or fight scenes, where having or not having an item can make the outcome better or worse for the character(s) involved.
-Rex and his split-personality are sometimes difficult to tell apart, especially at the beginning in their respective introductions. The main physical difference is their eye color, but without telling the reader that, it took me some time to realize it myself. Maybe making this more obvious would help in the future.
-The implementation of medals to be earned depending on what choices you make in the game is nice, although if possible, transforming this into Steam achievements of the same category would make it even nicer, just to stand out and be more noticeable without having to view them ingame.
That's about it for my comments. To anyone that read this far, thank you. And to anyone that's interested in trying out the game, I hope you enjoy it.
What a deceiving game and such a disappointment.
Honestly, I liked nearly everything about this game apart from being tricked. People, before buying the game know that IT IS NOT FINISHED. And even if the dev eventually finish it, I'm not even sure that we wouldn't need to pay once or twice more to get the end of it. As it is now, it is clearly not worth the cost unlike what they tell you in the demo version. I felt like refunding it but in the end I didn't, not because I spent more than 2 hours playing (I spent a little more time on it after making my mind to get all medals) but just because I'm still hoping for the end to come. But I'd like to insist on something, this is not what I spent money for. I didn't buy demo ver.2, I thought that I was buying a finished game, which is not. The description says "a week", I haven't been through half of it. We're collecting items for further use but... we end up having no use of them since nothing happens. By the way, the fact that it is not clearly stated on the purchasing page is a huge fault.
So, now that it is settled down. Let's talk about the game itself. This is a visual novel made on visual novel maker and it's a pretty good job.
The art is far better than what I expected, some characters are clearly better-made than others but the difference is not that bothering.
Musics are overall ok, some of them being clearly worse than others but wow, the sounds... Every time a character is acting a bit fiercely, every time something happens, even for no reason, there is this sound of someone smacking something/an angry kid pushing wide open a door, and as much as it doesn't make sense to put this sound for nearly everything, it starts to really get on your nerves at some point. Good point is the maniacal laugh of the witch which I enjoyed hearing a lot.
The game is often breaking the fourth wall, like really often, it's cute/funny BUT write what the boss is saying in a bigger policy because I just burnt my eyes trying to read it (you can use the log option otherwise but it's bothering to have to go out of your way to read your visual novel).
On the technical part, the skip option is not very good since it disables itself after every screen and it is only available when the dialog box is showing, knowing that new scenes often start with inner thoughts or narration and that there are not any dialog box for these... On the contrary, it doesn't disable itself when reaching a part you've never read about.
Every story doesn't have the same length (1>2>3) and to be honest my favourite one is the second. Unlike the others, the second one doesn't bring anything to the big picture but it's just because I really liked the character Rex/Rox.
About the story themselves, I noticed some inconsistencies :
1) How is the main character supposed to drive properly when he is obviously not in age for that ? I mean, ok, maybe he trained with his mother or got some courses but someone who is learning to drive couldn't properly drive a car in the night for hours on dozens of kilometers.
2) Even when you're in Japan, not any character has a japanese name.
3) Are you seriously telling me that a high schooler who happens to miraculously be working at the hospital would be able to remove safely a tumor from a little girl ? And are you seriously telling me that the said high schooler did all of this on a random bed, without the appropriate tools and that everything worked out fine ? Finally are you seriously telling me that the said little girl will be able to stand, walk, fight and jump out of a window a few hours after her operation ?
Last complain : Why didn't you release a full story and ask for support or anything if we wanted the two others instead of releasing the "prologue" of every story and let everything unfinished and so god damn frustrating ?
Without spoiling - this game ends with a gimmick and does not contain a complete plot. If the game were free, this would be cute, but it's not free.
