BAYANI is a fast-paced 1-on-1 indie fighting game that features a simplified 6 button control scheme. It is designed with accessibility in mind as it is meant to be easy to pick-up for newcomers to the fighting game genre. It utilizes one button specials and moves that can easily chain to one another to lower the barrier of entry.
With the help of professionals in the fighting game industry as well as support from the local fighting game community (FGC), it is designed to be competitive with deep and intricate gameplay mechanics suitable for high-level play and mind games. At it's core, BAYANI is an easy to play but difficult to master. By decreasing the skill level for execution, players can focus more on the mind-games and high-level of play needed to master the genre.
FAST-PACED COMBAT
BAYANI features a fast-paced combat system with air dashes, fast movement speed, reversals, reset mechanics, break mechanic, projectiles, grabs, powerful Fatal Strikes and devastating Final Arts to give the players a plethora of options to choose from. Opening up your opponent, baiting out attacks, and managing meter is needed to completely master the game fully.
CONTROLS
Making the game easier to play without taking away its depth and complexity is one of the main goals of BAYANI. By decreasing the execution barrier, players can focus more on the deep mind games and complex mechanic interactions that are present in fighting games. The game can be played using the keyboard, a gamepad, an arcade stick, or whatever controller the player wishes to use. As it uses a simplified 6-button control scheme, players can play with what is most comfortable to them.THE CHARACTERS
BAYANI's final roster on release will include 8 unique characters with different archetypes, playstyles, and mechanics. Every character in BAYANI are all inspired by historical figures that have had a significant impact in the country’s history. great game. beautifully made, just needs story mode and more characters. also please if same characters are gonna fight automatically change the colorway of the computer to avoid confusion. overall i love it... hope for more Pinoy games
The foundation is there. Everything looks good. Please just update it! Anything! A crumb!
This game is great for the Filipino FG community! Just little polishing for the stages; addition of Visayan and Mindanao characters would also be awesome.
What is needed for me are in game combo guides and tutorials.
Overall, Cool! Worth the work.
Even tho it's still early access, the game is pretty much polish so far although it can be a hiccup to play on steam deck but I reccomend it if you like fighting games and also philippines culture
game is still under development for almost half a decade? i understand that most indie games are hard to develop specially with limited resources.
im an avid fighting game fan , i play a lot of DBFZ , SFV , UMVC and the likes , also played other indie fighting games like fight of the gods.
the game without any online content yet to fight with others. play it through arcade mode or with friends on Parsec , we find it rewarding for button mashers.
although since im above average into intermediate player , the moveset are so simple and close to DNF duel , but i would like to have a normal directional moves like a normal fireball ( hadouken ) inputs as well.
since the buttons are so simple , you are prone to incorrect button presses and will cause you into doing a special move and much punishable on block.
Training mode - you can not put the training dummy into anything, does not block or change stance ( stand , crouch )
aesthetically , game should lean towards a 2d animation instead of going 2.5d or almostt 3d. as im seeing the sprites are so thick and sometimes not really good looking , or maybe its just my preferences.
characters are close to unique into parody of other fighting game characters like Tonio looks like Hagar ( YES )
the other one looks like Psylocke ( YES AGAIN DO NOT TELL ME ITS NOT )
would like to see more characters, take on Lapu lapu , take on bonifacio and other characters that are not that popular in the PH lore.
game is promising so im keeping it into my library.
Should I recommend this? YES and No.
Yes if you and your friends wants to play this for fun
No if you are wanting to grow into the community of fighting games.
I've messed around in the lab, played using parsec and have also played people offline in this -it's a fun game.
I hope they do eventually get around to adding online (rollback).
For an early access game, it's pretty good. I just hope that they continue to work on the game.
Support your Indies!
Bayani has some serious style.
The combo system is varied and offers players tons of tools to express themselves.
Overall though, damage is very high, and Touch of death combos are bound to happen.
If that isn't a deal breaker definitely check this game out.
As of June 2021 I don't recommend. I got past the first few characters from basically spamming the fireball button. Fight Angel for example is a very clunky fighter that's all about sex appeal but even that game was more challenging.
For an early access game this is lit. I hope this will progress fast in the future with story lines. The controls and combos are very nice. You don't have to do complicated key combinations to get those special moves. However, there should be an option to adjust the level of difficulty and the speed of the game.
This is a good fighting game with great potential. I would think that people who enjoys playing Injustice and the Street Fighter series would enjoy this game.
Again, story lines would be great. In the future, I wouldn't mind seeing Duterte and Aquino tough it out. Or maybe add Tulfo versus Vice Ganda?
My friends and I may stream some of this soon. If it weren't for the burst, we'd be getting touch of death most of the time. But it is fun to play so far and we had a good time. The characters and art are pretty cool...
I had just changed my review to say the game was abandoned, but literally today they developers posted in the Discord with new screenshots and talks about GGPO.
It's a decent fighting game, tested out by FChamp and other Esports athletes, so knowing that the devs wanted an authentic experience for the player, I hope more people would notice this game and help support the devs to create more characters and stages. Some easter eggs would be nice. The game needs more support for better optimization. Let's go Ranida Games!
The game is good, The characters are normal yes. BUT it has low quality audio and also the voice acting. It's like you're listening to a song that's been recorded on a radio. The controls, It's kinda tricky to understand at first but I can manage. It's good and I hope that the online battle will be available soon. Good luck Ranida Games!
This game has lots of potential. I love the character especially Joe (Rizal's my fave hero).
I am just confused with the control options. And yeah I know the game is still under development. If I'm gonna rate the game 1-10, It will be 9. Just one point away from being perfect 'coz of the control option.
Kudos to the team who made this and I'm looking forward for more updates.
Not bad, but it needs some work and balancing. Still though, I'm impressed this was made in the Philippines and it was better than what I expected for sure. I'm looking forward to seeing the game get better - I also enjoy the art style
BAYANI plays like an inferior version of Blade Arcus, blade arcus itself is hard to recommend so it's hard to do the same for this. Art style is not to my taste and the background feels like it came from a PS2 game like rumble fish. The one thing that i could give applause is the rock-ish soundtrack tho it might not live up to everyone's standards. Controls feels cluncky like what you'd expect from a semi 3D fighter that came from the late 90's. This game has not supported online play at the date of my purchase and doesn't have a proper final boss with you returning to fight characters you've already defeat. Overall this game's production quality is closer to rumble fish than it is to blade arcus so you get what i'm trying to say, it's not that bad but it's yesterday's quality. To my knowledge there will still be future updates for this game so if you're okay with the base idea of this game then proceed, if not better stay away to avoid disappointment.
Choppy character and background animations, low quality sound effects, poorly-designed UI, and bad voice acting. The character design is a meh for me, I don't find it appealing and has no wow factor. Opening the game makes my ears bleed from the intro which is, I think, isn't necessary to add up to the game. Music isn't really good tbh. I only find the game good from its fighting mechanics but it needs improvement.
Still, it's a fine game for people who loves fighting games like this one. Good for arcades, I guess.
I like this game and i really want this game to grow and become successful!
PROS:
-combat is fun
-the art style within the game is good, can use some improvements though
-the characters are cool since they're based from the filipino history so that is a plus for me :D
CONS(bugs that i noticed while playing the game):
-the frame rate is very unstable, hope that it gets fixed soon
-sometimes the AI will just keep punching relentlessly without moving from where they stand and it will only stop until i attack it
-in the middle of arcade, there would be times that my attacks won't go through even though i completely landed a direct hit
-also, multiplayer
overall, kudos to the dev team and keep up the good work :)
Bought this game on early access and its pretty good for what it is! It honestly might wash the taste of Street Fighter 5 off my tongue and its brimming with potential! Hopefully the devs will polish it further and add more content.
Gameplay is fun and feels right at home for FGC veterans that are tired of whatever Capcom's doing with their modern 2d fighters.
It doesnt have multiplayer yet! Hopefully they get to work on this immediately!
The artstyle is a miss for me, its inspired but its kinda rough. The backgrounds need a bit more work. Animations are alright and easy to read
Training mode settings are nonexistent! I hope they add it eventually, an expansive training mode is important for players!
The other characters will be added in future updates, with a starting roster of 4 playable characters up to a total of 9. Its a bit sparse since 9 is considered a weak number of characters in modern fg standards, but given its the dev's first fighting game ill give it a pass.
Its worth checking out especially if you love Fighting Games and ESPECIALLY if youre a Filipino!
What is a great way of celebrating the Philippines Independence Day at home? By supporting our Filipino Game developers who developed our very own fighting game inspired by our national heroes!
BAYANI - Kanino ka Kakampi?
is in early access state but will be updated and expect more iconic Historically inspired characters to play as.
Battle on the streets of iconic landmarks in the Philippines.
If you are fond of playing 2D fighting games, you will love it.
Things I like:
-Character Animations are good, Graphics and Art style is great!
-Level design/Background are nice to look at.
-Sound effects/ soundtracks are LIT!
-Movesets are simple yet can have a lot of technical stuff you can do with combos like other well known fighting games.
-Game is smooth, optimized on my machine.
-Controller support!!
Things I noticed:
- I understand it would take time but would love to see more characters. In the roster I can see only until Fernando. (Tho I believe and hopeful there will still be more added)
However I still think Quality > Quantity so take it with time.
- In keyboard control, it's hard to press cancel or back button in menus since escape is not working. So you need to actually press the "Special" key(O or B in controller)
- Also experienced 1 time crash when exiting the game but just once.
Support the game and the creative minds in Ranida! so we can see these kind of games flourish!
Had lots of fun! It is easy to learn. Recommended for FGC enthusiasts especially Filipino FGC people. Still few content but I'm guessing more will be added. There's lots of potential here!
EDIT: A bug I noticed was that the game crashes everytime I try to close it. I hope it gets fixed.
