Lost Artifacts - Time Machine is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as if it was a real PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs. This mobile app is a pointless "12 Labours of Hercules" screen tapper/clicker mobile app. There's no gameplay, just tapping on the screen. The mobile app is made to look like you're making interesting decisions as you're presented with a map of a town/village/pathway that has you clicking on various things to collect things which are then consumed when you click on an obstacle, which unlocks more things to click on. This is so lame and shallow, you could write a script to randomly click the screen and given enough time, it would beat the game.
The shady developer behind this valueless shovelware has proven to be a persistent nuisance abusing Steam Direct... they've dumped over a hundred valueless mobile app tier asset flips onto Steam, many featuring plagiarised/stolen stock art and other unethical, shady behaviours.
The developer, Creobit/8Floor, has copy + pasted this particular game, with minor reskins, an insane THIRTY TWO TIMES onto Steam with minor reskins... why cash in on one asset if you can cash in on multiple copies of the same game? Asset flipping begins at home! Here's a list of 8Floors's copy + pastes of this asset:

These are all reskins of exactly the same game! What value is there in this spam/pollution glutting the Steam store for gamers? This valueless copy + paste garbage is taking up marketing space for genuine indie developers who are doing the right thing. It's harmful to the industry and to gamers.
From a technical perspective, as a mobile app, this doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
There's no options to change the resolution for the mobile app or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this mobile app is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this mobile app will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality mobile phone graphics.
The mobile app only displays in mobile phone style ultra-pillarboxed aspect ratio unless you switch to Windowed mode. While it's possible this could be due to hamfisted attempts from the developer to tell me without any doubt that he knows the native resolution of my monitor better than I do (he is wrong), this is just one of many indications this was developed to be a mobile app and not a serious PC game. It's not acceptable for developers to dump garbage like this on Steam when it's not even formatted or designed to run properly on modern PC gaming displays, to the point that this could be considered insulting.
The mobile app features simple, cartoony 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort mobile apps. 3D graphics programming does require a degree of skill and competence and unfortunately not all developers have the budget or talent to deliver this, despite 3D graphics cards hitting the mainstream in the 1990's. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing.
The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here.
Because this is a mobile app, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the iPhones that the mobile app was designed for. These are unfortunate handicaps and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was an afterthought for the iPhone developers who are to blame for this. The mobile app is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for mobile phones forces upon a game. Once more, mobile devs have made gaming worse for everyone. I didn't spend thousands on building a gaming rig just so I could pretend it's an iPhone.
These technical defects push this mobile app below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
The poor quality of this mobile app is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 9 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality mobile app is to be expected.
Once more we see greedy mobile devs trying to scam PC gamers. On Steam, this is $5 USD, on the Play Store, it's free. Mobile devs must learn PC gamers are not here to be gouged, and can't be expected to pay FIVE BUCKS FOR A FREE MOBILE APP just because it's been lazily dumped on Steam. This is unacceptable disrespect for PC gamers. Because this can be played free elsewhere, and because of the other defects, it's impossible to recommend.
Who do they think we are?
Nice time-management game.
Lost Artifacts: Time Machine is a basic time management game similar to 12 Labors of Hercules. The graphics are not that great, they okay. Music/sounds are just okay, nothing special. The levels are not well balanced and one in particular is impossible to get 3 stars. The newest game in the series had the achievements taken down instead of fixing them. I won't be purchasing the rest of the series if the devs can't fix their game. Not recommended
If you like time management games and are looking for some more games of the genre and you have played out all the good games from the 12 Labours, Gnomes Garden, Rescue Team, Lost Artifacts series, then fine go ahead, it's a perfectly serviceable game, with some minor annoyances...
1. Yes, it's a mobile game, but please if you're going to port the game to PC at least code in the use of the ESC key for PC users, it's not hard. I know it's a small thing, but here in PC land we're used to hitting ESC to pause, bring up the menu, back out and exit the game, even to the very end I keep hitting it to no avail, it's just intuitive.
2. The mouse over tooltips in this game are a MASSIVE PITA. Mouse over a building, resource or an obstruction and it tells you what resources you need to upgrade a building or to remove an obstruction and what you will get in return if anything. The problem is the scroll popups containing the tips/info are about 3 times larger than they need be, which is rather obstructive to the surrounding area on the map.
What's worse, and I mean much, much worse, is when you move the cursor away from the building or obstruction, the tool tip doesn't always immediately clear from the screen, it can linger for a second or two and as noted earlier they are rather obstructive and in a game where speed is everything, it can needlessly slow you down.
As you play through the game you begin to instinctively take care with your mouse movements as not to mouse over anything unessaceraly otherwise you could end up with a string of tool tips popping blocking large swathes of the map. Again, another instance of this being a mobile game with touch controls where cursor movement across the screen was not given due thought.
3. Poor resource placement in some levels. There are multiple levels where resources are placed on the edge of the screen and are 50% or less visible on the screen, which makes them easy to miss and sometimes difficult to click quickly... which is the aim of the game
Even worse, on one level a resource is placed so close to a building, that even when clicking directly in the middle of the resource you end up clicking on the building, which can lead to wasted resources and time if you accidentally upgrade the building. In fact, the only way to collect the resource was to click on the edge of the resource on the furthest edge away from the building.
4. Sound effects. These are by and large low quality, the sound effects that play when you click on a resource to collect it, when a potion spawns, when a power is recharged or when it is used are just terrible. As the game is intended to be played at a speed you can have multiple sound effects playing in quick succession and it just sounds like a 3 year old hammering down randomly on a cheap electric keyboard.... and don't get me started on the level that requires 2 builders hammering away in sequence for 21 seconds.
5. RNG. To be fair this isn't the only time management guilty of this offence, but having a level where the only way to obtain a resource is through a random spawner just isn't cricket as we Brits would say, it takes away the reward for playing with skill and speed to dumbing it down to just pure random luck. The only solution is such cases is to build the spawner asap and cross your fingers.
I bought this at 90% off and given the quality of the competition, that's pretty much what it's worth, just make sure to play with the sound effect volume turned down if you do bite.
Nice time management game...100% recommended
Love these games. Level 11 is a jerk.
Well honestly I'm not going to dis this game like it's a "bad" game - I'm sure it's fine for those who like this type of highly repetitive simplistic stuff - and I'm sure it's fine for children - but it just wasn't too much fun to me from the start - I especially did not like having to wait for my little workers to go all the way back to the hut before they could go complete another task - they don't always but they do too much for it to be fun. Needs to speed up the back and forth and it might hold my interest but I doubt I could care enough to keep going.
I strongly recommend this device to those who like to write reviews before completing the game
bad level design...
i'M ENJOYING THIS RELAXING GAME HAS SOME CHALLENGE TO GET 3 STARS IN EACH
Well – it’s different form the other games in the series. Graphics seems poorer as they didn’t want to make it look good. You can’t always find the tasks.
It is much more difficult to complete the tasks.
Somehow I found it idiotic to collect food that is soda and fries – in the other games it is fruit.
Naah – if you get it on sale it is ok, otherwise don’t bother…
