Delve Interactive

PLANS
"Цель этого проекта – рассказать о проблеме бездомных большему числу людей и собрать средства для помощи тем, кому тяжело. Мы долго и тщательно изучали проблему, и хотя мы хотим отобразить ее в реальных красках, некоторые аспекты жизни на улице были упрощены ради более интересного игрового процесса.Мы уже собрали более 7000 фунтов для благотворительных организаций CRISIS, The Clocktower Sanctuary и Shelter.

new york tutorial
The hospital gave me the boot for not being able to accrue money to complete the medical fee, so I became friends with a bunch of people on the street and now Drink is better off, except for the time I got a bliss addiction, overcame it, turned myself in and lost my guitar, met a dog, dog got lost, found dog, became friends, got mugged by a kid after trading a padlock for a few sandwiches, apples, and given the injury status and sick, then lost all happiness to the cold.
Sounds like I didn't succeed in my self upbringing, actually I did, after that I regained some happiness from bill and the other two, met some kind people and slowly got it back. Never got a job though, and the brain library can't function when depressed.
Awesome game! (Really telling of the world, it is a change to see something like this. What? it is from 2017? I'm late to the news? Awuh...)
I've lost so much so many times...
GREAT GAME
A bit buggy, but great game, the atmosphere and the roguelike gameplay blend well together
Its a great roguelike game that touches on some real and taboo subjects and it does so in an amazing way.
i have had an amazing time playing this game!
fun game, sad
This game is great, I love the feel of it, and how its hard, but not so hard that it makes you wanna quit. One thing you NEED to add is a multiplayer mode where you can play with friends! This would make the game so fun as you could just be yelling at your friend until he comes to you! Plus it would be balanced as you could make double the money, but also pay for double the food and useful items!
This is truly a good game; even do it still has some bugs. Therefore, it’s very important that when you’re even remotely interested in this game you should try it out so the developer can keep working on it. Since he himself know has fallen on hard times. He has donated some of his earnings to charity’s and is trying send out a strong message about homelessness with this master peace of a game. I believe that he therefore now also diverse our help.
I like the game and there are many compelling aspects, but for me it is not managing to strike the balance between a roguelike experience and story mode well.
There are too many random events which can totally derail your playthrough and are out of your control. Many of the conditions are quite arbitrary - for example, having a residence at a shelter and opening a bank account, which is lost if you lose the residence or get displaced to a new area by the police. In my last play I had a random event at the shelter where someone planted a knife in my backpack which got my residency cancelled. This in turn just deleted my bank account with close to 80 pound and lost me the job I had gotten. I get the message of struggle, but this is a bit ridiculous.
Unfortunately many small things like this make the game artificially difficult and makes it feel like your effort at getting better will not pay off.
fun
i'm practicing for my future where my wife takes the house and the kids
Ive been playing this game off and on for years. Super casual gameplay with a choose your own adventure vibe. The game needs work but has seen major and regular improvements. Check it out. The more you play the more features you unlock.
very accurate british resident simulator
super fun
It's rare to find something where all the elements - music, art direction, game mechanics - work in support of the whole. When the game is challenging, arbitrary, or unfair, it's done that way intentionally; not because of a "bad" game design choice. The result is a game that sticks in my brain. I was legitimately surprised to see my own playtime for this one, because this is a game I think of regularly: much more frequently than some games I've played for 100+ hours.
is good
Such a good game, so many ways to play it and earn a life. I love how it's real. It does not give you an easy mode. I like that about the game. And the ways to earn money. I like how there is more then one way. As for the happiness I hope for easier ways to earn it. But ones you need money. For example. A place where you can go to an arcade and earn tickets to get prizes that you can sell on the street, all the while gain happiness and a few other skills. Like hand an eye cordination. Perhaps having a hobbie of making pottery, or even sewing things. Just things you can do while on the street to earn a side hussel.
This game is very addicting. I have over 500 Hours and 100% completion on this game. This is a very underrated game which i stumbled across on Blitz Youtube channel when Change was still in development. Interactions feel real and make you feel guilty if you say steal from a homeless. I was astonished how much fun this game was despite the quite small developer team. There is some bugs like text boxes appearing and soft locking your game but besides that this game was quite fun. Side note: please support the devs as they are struggling.
its so fun
addicting
Really worth trying this game just to learn a little about the harsh realities facing the unhoused. I got kind of obsessed with it for a while, and it reminds me that I have SO much to be grateful for. The gameplay and music are also very good!
I can't believe this game is nearing a decade old! I love using this game as a storytelling aid whenever I promote some of my fave nonprofits and mutual aid groups. I also love how responsive the devs are regarding bugs and other feedback regarding the game.
Yes, it can be criticized for gamifying a socioeconomic issue BUT gamification is also an effective educational method to reach others that may have been normally left out. Thank you Delve for approaching this game in a thoughtful and respectful manner.
Cant remove the dog's balls but still good

I like the game, it manages to be a unique survival experience in a modern city in a realistic way without ever getting repetitive. Each play through has its own challenges so you never get bored. I do wish the ending felt less open ended, I spent hours getting my guy off the street with his dog and there wasn't really a conclusion to their story.
I absolutely love this game!
super underrated game, I wish there were more games like this
Great game, I highly recommend it. Really puts you in the shoes of someone experiencing homelessness.
Making this review because (ironically) the developers have fallen on hard times and may not be able to continue development after possibly closing their doors in the near future. Please give this game a shot, it's well worth the price and deserves more attention!
This is one of the games I mention when I talk to people about how video games can be art - that they can be used to build empathy, educate people, and bring awareness to issues we might otherwise be blind to. This game has made me a more compassionate person, and that's the highest praise I can give any piece of art.
It's obvious a lot of hard work has gone into this game. It's a great challenge, with massive replayability due to different characters, perks, and maladies, as well as new city spawns. The DLC is definitely worth it, too, as it provides distinct scenarios.
Truly an incredible work, and one of the most played games in my library.
Introspective, respectful, and enjoyable.
Very original roguelike game that adapted the theme perfectly.
This game is one of my favorites. A true masterpiece.
Interesting concept, executed well. Great for chill gaming that also makes you think.
.
It's a really fun game that is challenging and shows a couple of the hardships many people face every day.
very challenging
Great game, but feels repetitive after a few runs.
fun
Amazing indie gem with additive game play loop and lots of replayability. Perfect for steam deck.
amazing game
good game
Some bugs, but moderators are still continuing to improve the game for those who comment/report bugs.
From my understanding the game still has updates that add items and perks into the game.
Is does have a level of difficulty that is challenging but manageable with consistency.
Each character has different buffs/debuffs that requires the player to alter their playing style and the map is randomly generated with an option to move to a new area if desired.
All in all, a good game.
Hard decision to make, wish steam had a third middle option for a rating, but I would not recommend this game in its current state for the price. There are WAY too many bugs that cause the game to feel like an absolute slog and there is really only a single path to "victory" for each character so it gets very repetitive despite the leveling and unlocking perks/items. It lacks balance across what is offered with some aspects feeling way more developed than others. Some aspects and components of the game seem like stand-ins that feel like dead ends and probably should have been dropped.
The UI/UX is super frustrating causing misclicks often and is a recipe for RSI. Using a wacom tablet caused the character to just perma walk in one direction so it had to be unplugged. There are so many race conditions for clicking on events during closing times of locations and the 9:00pm curfew (also why not use 24H?) that can crash the game if a popup appears while another event is happening.
There is variety in the dialogue and events through the first playthrough and then it feels like you have really seen everything. I think the narrative could use some tweaking to compress the playthrough and items should be unlocked faster while you play or allow to unlock all items. Also auto-gather scrap like when you have the library book perk should be a default as this is one of the most tedious aspects of the experience.
I understand that the point of the experience is to convey the POV of someone suffering from being unhoused and how difficult he struggle is and it succeeds sometimes, but the grind detracts from the overall experience. Maybe something more like Jones in the Fast Lane would have been more compelling while preserving the message.
Overall there are way too many game breaking bugs and mistakes in the game to warrant a recommend. I found myself exhausted after the first playthrough after having to force quit so many times to get things working again. I started a second playthrough trying to roleplay a different character, but there is really only one logical path to getting your character out of poverty, so it felt very much like the same experience and the unlocked features did not add much as it felt like repackaging the same assets. There are some great things in here and the vision feels expansive, but also rushed and all the loose ends should have absolutely been tied before releasing a DLC to what amounts to an incomplete and frustrating experience.
I would recommend this game if some of the more tedious bugs and UI/UX issues were fixed or if there were an accelerated and less grindy mode.
Top 10 games. You can play this forever with tons of replayability value, game is long and extremely fun. Must play. An RPG where you explore the whole world and have to deal with managing currency buying good items and not being robbed killed or frozen by the weather if you manage to not die due to depression. Everytime you beat the game or die you unlock more things for the next playthrough which each time adds tons of things, you play as a homeless survivor and there are tons of different characters with stories and various abilities and perks to play with.
Amazing game, which believe it or not, it's extremely pleasant to play on the Deck. My only complaint is the LGHDTVBBQ+ tag since I don't see anything regarding pride events in the game, which is a relief and the fact that it doesn't have cloud save, so I can't transfer my progress onto other platforms other than my Deck. Other than that, the game is an amazing sim of which the devs showed lots of love for with their numerous updates and to be honest, I'm still amazed after pirating the first ever version of the game and jumping onto the bought Steam one, it was really an eye-opening experience.
Why does Change disturb us?
First I found the concept of playing an homeless weird and cringe, like it did not have respect for them. But after some reflexion, I realised that the most played games are about soldiers in real wars dying in trenches, without me batting an eye, and I started to realize the importance of Change: breaking the taboo of homeless people, and discover their life in a playful way.
A good sensibilisation game with a surprisingly addicting gameplay, a lot of content that you can unlock and make you reevaluate the perception of what is begging and searching for a home each night, with the fear of losing anything on a unfair event.
Sadly, there is a lot of bugs that are never gonna get patched, and that are ruin a lot of fun, but you can still enjoy it. It just stopped me from keep playing after unlocking the true ending.
A very good lesson shaped in a videogame nontheless.
This game does a lot of good things in terms of portraying the scraping by aspect of being homeless and having things working against you as you struggle to get back on your feet, but this game has a fatal flaw that can ruin your entire playthrough. Because the areas you're in are randomly generated and have random events, you are often faced with multiple things that drain your happiness stat back to back to back, such as you "had a bad night" in the shelter so your happiness dropped, then you beg for money and someone is unkind to you and you lose more happiness, then your hot drink which keeps you warm in winter wears off and now you're freezing and have to watch your happiness drain as you walk past a dozen buildings that can't warm up in, the areas are randomly generated so the nearest warming spot can be obnoxiously far away. And that's not even the fatal flaw I mentioned earlier, the fatal flaw is a negative status effect called depression that you get if your happiness stays below a certain threshold for too long. Depression drains your happiness each day you have it, but the only way to get rid of it is to keep your happiness above a certain threshold for several days. The problem is that there are too many things pulling your happiness down (including the passage of time) and there aren't enough ways to increase your happiness. You basically wind up in this downward spiral you're also locked out of doing things to better yourself like studying (which also warms you in cold weather) and working (which brings in money so that you can buy food so that you aren't starving which also makes your happiness go down). I tried looking up how to deal with this and there was a guy that raised the same issues back in 2019, so it's been 5 years and the issue hasn't been fixed. I get that the game is trying to convey the struggle, but because of the randomness of things in the game you can sometimes be put in an impossible bind which ruins the playthrough you're on which can be several hours of time lost.
