About the Game
With the struggle between order and chaos quelled by saviours from beyond, the realm was destined to fade from existence. Instead, an arcane power has breathed new life into it—bestowing these decaying remains with purpose once more. The fight has begun anew, and the world is your arena.Over twenty-four of FINAL FANTASY's most recognisable faces have assembled to take part in interdimensional fisticuffs. Face off against other teams in action-packed, three-on-three melees that require sense as well as strength to win. Each combatant can be one of four types: vanguard, assassin, marksman, or specialist; play off your allies' fighting styles, master the bravery system, and emerge triumphant from the clash of steel and sorcery!
In addition to standard battles, there will be skirmishes that employ special rulesets, along with cutscenes that tell the story of this reborn world, the gods that rule it, and the warriors who fight for it.

just played it for a bit, as someone who have completed duodecim, i say this is great continuation, really hard to get use to the new gameplay 3 vs 3 probably due to me being older, and my PC isn't really great and unable to play it in high or higher graphic quality, it difficult for me to notice enemy attack and hardly block on time, im getting wrecked but still have a blast. Also love the summon and bigger roster, this installment certainly have higher ceiling than duodecim, im confident i get used to it.
DLC SKINS CAN NOT BE USED IN THE MAIN STORY!
I bought the deluxe edition and the story doesn't let you choose skins for cutscenes or story battles. It's only for the offline/online matchmaking. The main story also only has a couple cutscenes after the credits that include DLC characters (and the after credits leave a cliffhanger that never gets resolved). You do not actually get to use those characters in story battles, and even some base-game characters only appear in after-credits cutscenes that also can't be used in story battles. There's a couple characters that the deluxe edition does NOT include and apparently buying those characters doesn't add any more story content either.
Want to clarify a misconception about this game. It is true that in order to progress through the main story you need to level up your profile, which is done through the matches. You do still gain exp by doing the offline matches so you don't need to worry about the multiplayer.
The actual combat uses a cool "bravery" system where there's a separate number for your bravery which then determines how much damage you do in a HP attack. You use bravery attacks to steal bravery from other characters. While it gets criticized a lot, the 3v3 system is actually pretty good because it adds a layer of strategy where you prioritize which enemy you should be taking bravery from or which you should use a HP attack on, because to win a match you just need to kill 3 enemies, which can be the exact same one.
Unfortunately the tutorial is really bad and still makes things confusing (I didn't even understand the bravery system until I played Dissidia Opera Omnia). The controls (at least with a controller, didn't try mouse + keyboard) are bad because you have to hold down a button to target the nearest enemy, and then the exact same button but holding it down for less in order to target the summon crystal. The camera is also a mess which can become really annoying, especially during boss fights.
The story has really bad cringe dialogue and is overall boring. However, the main issue with the story is that it has boss battles that have a ridiculously high difficulty spike. They aren't balanced based on when you unlock them. For example, you have to fight Ramuh, probably the hardest or 2nd hardest boss, before you can fight Odin, which was actually really easy.
Only real reason to play this game is if you want to get through the entire Final Fantasy series.
Positive Aspects:
- Fan Service: The game features beloved characters from the Final Fantasy series, which is a huge draw for fans. Seeing these characters in a new, competitive setting can be a lot of fun.
- Gameplay Mechanics: The fighting mechanics are smooth and engaging, offering a unique blend of traditional fighting game elements with the iconic style of Final Fantasy.
- Visuals: The graphics are stunning, capturing the essence of the Final Fantasy universe with beautiful character designs and detailed environments.
Negative Aspects:
- Netcode Issues: Many players have reported issues with the netcode, leading to laggy and unresponsive online matches. This can be frustrating and detracts from the overall experience.
- Limited Content: The free edition lacks the full roster of characters and the story mode, which can be disappointing for those looking for a complete experience.
- Low Player Base: Due to various issues and the game's niche appeal, the player base has dwindled, making it harder to find matches and enjoy the multiplayer aspect.
Overall, DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY NT Free Edition offers a lot of nostalgia and fan service but falls short in terms of online stability and content. It's worth a try if you're a big Final Fantasy fan, but be prepared for some frustrations. (The PSP games where way better than this game)
Not fun at all 3x3 combat system sucks go to the ppsspp classic instead DISSIDIA 1 & DISSIDIA 012 games better story & fun single player
controls sucks ngameplay too
To all fans of final fantasy, you deserve better. The deluxe edition doesn't even come with all the content.
The extremely popular Dissidia FF Arcade was exclusively ONLY in Japanese arcades, the Western audience literally BEGGED and DEMANDED for SE to port it to the West, *and so they did*, and that is precisely what Dissidia NT is.
A collaboration between Square Enix and Koei Tecmo/Team NINJA (the exact same collaboration that made Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, as well as the companion mobile game (now concluded) to this, Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia).
But as soon as it released on PlayStation 4 (and soon after, Steam/PC) the Western audience backstabbed the Dissidia devs for it. But somehow people love/miss Opera Omnia? Strange, considering the same collaborative dev team.
Final Fantasy involves teamwork, so what's so wrong with a 3-person team brawler? Did people forget that FFVII, FFVIII, FFX, etc had 3-4 character parties? How's this any different? AND you could still do 1v1 or 1v.2 or whatever!
I played this a LOT on PS4, and had a fricken blast with it. The Summon "Boss" battles are a bit frustrating, but the standard FF hero/villain brawler stuff is actually still fun.
Really the ONLY difference with the two PSP games is there were more usable HP attacks to actually equip, not just one (two?) in them, and the "RPG story" mode had a chess dungeon board and a mini "world map" to traverse through...
But these were so unnecessary and tedious. At least the summons actually DO something in this, rather than in the PSP games where they were just random attribute changes, not to mention the odd action-halting "stop in midair to do a timed attack/dodge minigame 'dance' a few times"... Like... Just let them fight.
The negative reviews are unfounded, this game is FUN.
Gettin' to beat up my friends as my favorite blonde thief just feels so fun!
i wish this game would be active again
It's a one of a kind game that let's you almost fly around with stirring characters that carry rich backstories and use powerful, scintillating abilities with much room for experimentation and perfecting one's approach to enthralling, real-time, 3v3 combat. Enjoy.
It's not bad for what it is. Don't go expecting the world here. It's a pretty simple short game, so-so story, but it is interesting to see all the old characters rendered nicely in 3d.
A very fun game, albeit a bit weird to play on mouse and keyboard but one gets use to it after a while. Honestly this is a game I would play more of if I wasn't already playing FF14, with all the unlockables one can acquire from simply playing the game is a welcomed sight among modern gaming while character cosmetics is locked behind a paywall, and is a bummer to be sure, it's not time-gated so I can go buy them whenever I want.
FFDNT, despite its long name, could have been a Square Enix persistent game with its MOBA style game-play they could have done a lot more like continue adding more maps, characters from previous games and add characters from new games like FF16, sadly it looks like it won't be getting any more updates, but despite that this is still a fun game to play and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to play a pretty casual game to pass the time whether through it's single-player or multiplayer.
This game was made for Japan's arcade machines.
I was there, in Japan, during its time. It was amazing, lagless matches, vibrant community, the new 3v3 teambased gameplay rewarded communication with your team, it was VERY fun!
The port to PC is something else. It is, effectively, the same game. But as the online was designed to work in Japan arcades, it didn't translate well to western PC users.
First of all, the community virtually doesn't exist anymore. There was a small one when the game released, so you *might* have found a match with full teams of players, but it always lagged in the west and there's no certainly no players around in 2024. It's VERY difficult, if not impossible to find a game without just AI bots.
And that's the thing, the game thrives on it's team based PvP mode, which is quite fun if you have two full teams, communicating with eachother and without lag. That kind of experience I haven't had on PC, but in the Japan arcades it was the norm during its hayday.
The only thing is the controls were a little hard to get used to, but once you get used to it and understand how the game wants you to play, it's VERY fun. But alas...you can't get that same experience with AI bots.
I think the grindy single player story mode was an attempt to create offline value for the game, but the game really is built from the ground up for online multiplayer, which doesn't exist anymore. The cutscene's are cute, it's fun seeing characters talk to eachother that wouldn't normally interact, but that's about it.
Which is sad, I DO think this was a fantastic way to take the Dissidia formula and make it into a team based fighter! The problem is that lag and population issues prevented this game from thriving on PC. I yearn for the day I can convince 5 other people in my region to play a few rounds without lag with me.
I would recommend it to people who love Final Fantasy, love fighting games, have 5 friends also interested and can play with those 5 friends without lag issues. If you tick all of those boxes, then by all means, this game is fucking awesome! Since only about 0.01% of you can tick all those boxes at once, I can't reccomend it.
regret buying..... 012 is still better.....
if you like to grid for days weeks and maybe months.... yeah.... maybe this game is for you.
Absolutely terrible. Can't even play the story mode without grinding boring matches. Deluxe edition is about half of the DLCs. Rather play the PSP games.
