I enjoyed the story and acting performances in this game. However,
I found the drone controls very clunky and the interactivity a little lacking. There are several times where the map is taken away from you where it would be helpful in navigating the confusing station. If you really value novelty of the perspective of being a space station AI and playing the story yourself, grab this game on sale.
Idea and graphics are amazing but OH MY GOD playing this game is annoing as hell. Camera rotation speed is slooow, time limited tasks combined with absutely non-intuinive controls are just frustrating. I spent all time dedicated to jetissone module on figuring out when and what I shoud press. Okay, I failed, but can I load previous checkpoint and replay it? No, f*ck you, accept your failure and proceed. I will play more, but right now I am just dissapointed
Interesting story and cool paradox.
Watch someone else play this, it's basically the same thing
Good horror game with a cool mechanic BUT I want to meet the genius who thought it was a good idea to not have manual save. I think I had to repeat a certain section 3 times wasting an hour. The most frightening thing about this game is not knowing where your last save when quitting.
Horrible gameplay, uninteresting plot, generic characters, tedious puzzles... I can't list the things I hate about this game enough. Nice voice acting though.

6/10; above average for me. The last couple of minutes were not needed in my opinion, cut to black when the other dimensions were revealed. I think 2/3 of the game's puzzles were fine but that last third was so annoying and repetitive that it really ruined the last act. My God the disorientation too with the sphere, which may have been the point of the game but that was abysmal. Other than that the story was cool, good sound track to get you in the moment of the game also, and I love cosmic horror. Only took about 8 hours to 100%
I like the concept of the game and i find it original , basically you're playing as a chill OS called Sam trying to do his best to gather lost informations and help a cute astronaut called Emma so you can make it back after getting stuck in space with the rest of the team missing...
If you like mystery games and problem solving , this game is definitely your cup of tea :)
It is mine so i would recommend it !
Great game. Very atmospheric. Very creative piece of work.
A welcome change of pace if you've been playing looter shooters but I never found it boring.
Yes give it a go especially if it's on sale.
One of the most esquisite and bootifil games i have ever played omg its so peak i could play it over and over again its fire its amazing its so underrrated and has no fandom I WILL BE THAT FANDOM i will carry this game on my back all the way to saturn i will bring it to glory
Excellent, Beautiful, Immersive. Gripping Narrative. Believable near future hard sci-fi that can stand toe to toe with Stanislaw Lem. Instills a great desire for the betterment of humanity.
Wonderful voice acting, great pacing. Interesting puzzles that remind you of the good days of Riven without being too obtuse. The game requires your attention which fosters more immersion. If you're stuck, breathe, all of the answers are logically in front of you; this is not moon logic.
The controls are better than reviewers led me to believe; however, a controller is strongly recommended.
TECHNICAL PROBLEMS: To launch the game I had to set Compatibility Mode to "Windows 8" and to get more than 6 fps, I had to use DXVK to change the API to Vulkan (drag and drop 2 files in directory(dxgi.dll and d3d11.dll) - easy)
21:9 Ultrawide Support: Game does not support, but ROSE has two fixes linked on Observations' PCGamingWiki page. One can remove cinematic letterboxing, but it returns midway through and re enables towards the end.
I want more.
I really, really wanted to like this game but unfortunately its glaring faults overshadow what otherwise would have been an enjoyable sci-fi thriller. I did appreciate the unique take on the "things go bad on a space station" genre in that you play the station's AI but the execution was deeply flawed to the point that it severely detracted from the overall experience.
The story, setting, sound design, and voice acting are all strong and help kept me engaged through to the end. However, the core gameplay is some of the most painful and unenjoyable that I have ever experienced. I wanted desperately to do anything other than actually play the game because controlling SAM, the AI protagonist, was so clunky, confusing, un-intuitive, and frustrating. I normally can't stand lengthy cutscenes but by the end I was practically begging for there to be more of them because the story had its hooks in me and I just wanted to immerse myself in the narrative rather than having anything more to do with the chore and slog that is the gameplay.
Fortunately the game is relatively short at around 6 hours so I don't feel like it was a massive waste of time. Unfortunately, I also thought that the ending, while not terrible, didn't really deliver on the interesting narrative buildup. The disappointing ending combined with excruciating gameplay simply make this incredibly difficult for me to recommend this game, even at only $25.
I do recommend this game if you wait for a sale. The storytelling in this game is effective and unique, but it is very light on gameplay and what is there is often tedious. Controlling the sphere is hell, and I can't believe it made it into the game apart from the fact that it's needed for some cutscenes. This game doesn't really overstay its welcome, but it does start to get a little repetitive towards the end.
Such a good game! The in game mechanics are honestly something novel I haven't run into before, but what else would you expect from a futuristic game like this? I highly enjoyed the story and game play overall!
Enjoyed this a lot. It's claustrophobic, disorientating, occasionally tedious and occasionally confusing, but those are all good things that add to the story and atmosphere. As in, I'm happy that there were times when I had no idea what to do (I'm a broken computer program on board a space station, I shouldn't have my hand held), and the tedium of waiting / fetching things / entering codes and connecting to systems enhanced the immersion and made it seem more authentic. Plus the visuals are incredible - the sets are really well done.
I had to laugh occasionally at the temporal inconsistencies ('Come on SAM, we haven't got much time' - SAM then spends the next hour wandering around the empty corridors and bumping into things), but there's no way around those.
优秀的剧本,优秀的代入感,操作略微繁琐但是是为了代入感服务
7/10. MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD.
I would recommend this game if you want something really different from classic Dead Space experience. The tension is definetely present, the atmosphere, the unusual game mechanics, all the (surprise!) satisfying spacecraft realistic details are here. But bro, what is all this for? I have been solving these damn puzzles to know whats behind all this, and the answer I get is "a mysterious alien force". Like WHAT??? WTH??? Have you ever read Azimov, Lem, other great sci-fi classic writers? Take some notes from there, guys. Overall, a good game.
Really great game, fantastic story and idea, gameplay can get a little confusing at times and it can be hard to tell where to go sometimes but well worth it!
A very cinematic experience! You can definitely tell where this games inspirations come from.
I did not find the puzzles challenging and never felt lost. If you're not used to "space" controls in games, it can be a bit jarring. There were a few instances of characters clipping through walls that broke the immersion, but didn't ruin the experience.
I recommend this to any sci-fi movie fans!
A fun little game with some very good puzzles.
Great cinematic little story game. Would probably suggest getting on sale, but definitely worth checking out.
I had goosebumps all over me in the end.
Never gonna miss it if u are a sci-fi fan.
BRING HER
A game which is also a pretty good and slightly creepy SF short story! It's extremely linear without feeling too much that way, a little like the developer's other game, Stories Untold (also good, but not as good). As the ship's AI you follow instructions, explore and interact with the ship's systems, generally from the point of view of the cameras around the ship. It's generally extremely detailed, cool to explore and well-executed, though I did have a minor glitch during cutscenes where you get carried around.
Anyway I got it on sale and I definitely recommend it at that price.
Starts great, falls off a cliff after the midpoint. Puzzles have fantastic visual design, but become frustratingly obtuse and badly designed. Story kept getting deeper, right until it just turned to mediocre 2001-wannabe creepiness with an ending that felt rushed. Saves are strangely rare, and the exit menu doesn't specify how long it's been since the last: Lost 30 minutes of exploration because it didn't save after a story objective! No chapter select either, so you can't check back on any missed collectables.
Got it on discount, but still ended up disappointed.
3/5 - Average
This game takes has a lot of vibes from 2001: A Space Odysee, which I enjoyed greatly. However the execution fails a little. Navigating the space station and the various menus can be quite confusing and even nausea inducing. Objectives were not always clear and I struggled often to figure out what to do. I did enjoy the story however. Buy it on deep discount if you want to experience it.
Great Game
It's not an awful game, but it's not very good.
Most gameplay is just stressful or exhausting. Most tasks you do are just random things that aren't super relevant in the greater scope of things. The overarching story and development is sadly also just cryptic for the sake of being spooky and cryptic without much sense behind it.
I can't recommend it. It tried interesting things through it's player perspective and tooling, but it did not use them in a way that created a fun or interesting game.
Amazing game, get it while it's on sale
very intense. very cool. kinda complicated but i'm also kinda dumb. story is very worth playing for.
Fun and scary with great graphics, feels like a version of Five Nights at Freddy's but also a puzzler, also, IT'S IN SPACE!
incredible game. suffocating atmosphere. maybe a bit frustrating in how it doesn't really hold your hand but that adds to the horror experience imo
A very cinematic and narratively interesting experience.
Game had potential but controls were infuriating. I tried to push through it but the learning curve was so steep and I kept forgetting which keys did what. Being dyscalculic made this extra challenging.
When Saturn gets horny...
No Code presents...
Observation is a great game and one hell of a roller coaster ride i'd highly recommend. I loved this game; the puzzle elements are great combined with the camera make you feel right on board a vessel in deep space. It was a great experience. The story was AAA as well.
Very nice puzzle story. Quick note : All can be done with a mouse/keyboard but the very last operation. I had to plug a joypad just to finish the game.
i think you should bring her
Tedious, annoying and nausea-inducing. The puzzles are simple busywork, and the challenge consist of having to control a barely responsive drone and getting lost in endless corridors. It's hard to enjoy the story or the atmosphere when all the spinning is making you physically sick.
I was hooked so hard until i had the first outside mission. Horrible to find anything and just frustrating, like noone has playtested it....
I enjoyed this game. It is a rare thing, when a decently intriguing sci-fi narrative is combined with a set of marching game mechanics.
If you are into Stanislav Lem kind of atmosphere, this game may be a match for you.
Excellent atmosphere. Immaculate high concept sci-fi vibes. Tactile puzzles help bring the game world to life. Navigation can be confusing, but not a deal breaker. Recommended.
Observation is a great horror thriller - I loved it. The attention to detail is very good, and the story is great as well. The horror part was also pulled off very well, without jumpscares, and was very tense a lot of the time.
It's definitely very story heavy, so worth it if you enjoy that sort of game.
very good! great story and premise
the game has great atmosphere, yet, it's incredibly buggy, annoying, but undoubtably cool. the gameplay however, to me, was way too often frustrating. the idea itself is definitely there, but it's lacking. most of the puzzles are only difficult because you're wandering around with horrible movement and sometimes pretty confusing objectives. if there was a neutral review option, that's what i would give it that instead because it's equally great and annoying.
I had high hopes for this but honestly, I love me a good space game. But! Emma is such a hateful person. I really didn't want anything good to happen for her. There were some janky parts that made the game frustrating. Not to mention the long scene being carried by Emma and her walking straight through objects or getting stuck on them. There's no way to skip the long arduous cut scenes that are just self indulgent on the dev's part and don't give them player any information. It's just like "please god hurry up..." Oh and multiple crashes and having to repeat parts... Like good effort but bleh, I wouldn't replay it.
Overall a very fun and unique take on a sci-fi thriller. atmospheric and a great story. the graphics are amazing. it is a bit pricey at $24.99 for a ~8 - 10 hour game with little replay value, though.
Good game, great atmosphere, but I remember getting stuck on puzzles often. Story is interesting and I liked it. I liked the idea of playing as the station AI itself. The cosmic horror was good too, always love me a bit of that.
Observation is a very clever walking sim. The story follows the tired old trope of you wake up on an abandoned space station trying to figure out what happened to everyone, but the gimmick is that instead of being a sole survivor or human investigator guided by a busted AI, you're actually the busted AI trying to help out a human survivor. The mechanics have you switching between different cameras, solving the odd puzzle to open a door or activate a subsystem, and eventually you get access to a little flying orb so you can free roam inside the cramped modules of the space station just like your meatbag sidekick. There's murder, there's aliens, there's all the stuff you would expect from a sci-fi horror, and that's perhaps the most disappointing part of this game - that instead of going for an optimistic, hopeful take on humans exploring space, we get the usual depressing disaster story with a not-especially-satisfying ending.
But it's still worth a playthrough if you are a sci-fi fan or a fan of walking sims. The mechanics are so well executed, it's a delight to explore. You really do feel like you are a scrambled AI trying to put itself back together. The station feels big and chunky and cumbersome, but every time you flick a bunch of switches and release some clamps the keyboard controls and sound effects give you a satisfying sense of getting stuff done. I almost wish there had been more fixing stuff and saving people and less of the horror/mystery element, but it is what it is. Solid game.
You ever think what it'd be like if we weren't alone? You want that question answered in a very particular way? Try Observation! Try it even if you don't wonder that so you can start.
