About the Game
Small Sister is a game about a contest: "living in a house with strangers". The goal is to gain as many points as you can by interacting with other contestants and to be the winner at the end. You must gain enough points in order to avoid being on the last two place on the points table. Your interactions are limited, so think carefully and plan your strategy based on the skills you've chosen. The winner of the day gets the right to send one of the last two contestants. If you are willing to shape the community, your aim must be to win each day. As a reward for being the winner, you get a satisfaction of sending someone you don't like.
Every single interaction has a consequence and the time is limited. Every single interaction changes your situation. Some of them more, some of them less. Some choices lead you irreparable and bad consequences. Some choices lead you amazing consequences.
You don't have to follow the exact route to stay in the house. You don't have to be the winner of a day. You can support a contestant to make them win. You can convince a potential winner to send others. You can make a good relationship with a potential winner so they don't send you. You can disunite people so they gain fewer points. So many possibilities.
There are so many things to do that it is impossible to discover everything the first time. You will want to play again to see more.
Every single contestant has a dynamic relationship with others. Each one is trackable and changes in real time.
You may think that the NPCs are doing their stuff on their own and do not care about you. Well, you're wrong. They're not that stupid. So, be careful.
There are 4 types of skills, one of them is unique. Skills add depth to the game and add more variety to nonlinearity. At the start, spend available skill points on 4 types of skills. Improve them in the game as you like.

I've played other games by the same dev and quite liked them, but this one left me scratching my head. Let's ignore the obvious misogyny that women have to be good at cooking while men get to be funny in this game and focus on the gameplay meant to be a taken on Big Brother. It's repetitive, shallow, and just unfortunately not fun. It feels like it's barely a game and even for under a buck I can't recommend it.

It is nicely developed, the attention to detail in the environment and character design contributes to the overall quality of the game. However, there's one aspect of the game that left me a bit conflicted—the long timer on day 1. While I appreciate the developers attempt to introduce an extensive time period of being in a social circle, It only makes the game more boring. I would cap it to roughly 5-10 minutes since that gives more than enough time to socialise with everyone.
Despite this minor gripe, Small Sister is undeniably a game worth experiencing. The timer, while a slight inconvenience, doesn't overshadow the game's strengths. The overall experience is a testament to the developers' creativity and commitment to delivering a memorable gaming journey.

Honestly, if there was a 'neutral' review option, I'd press it. This game is absolutely terrible, but since the price is absolutely miniscule there's almost no reason NOT to get it. It's so bad it's nearly good, and it's incredibly funny for a couple games just to make fun of the game design/in general. After a couple hours and games, it becomes stale and there's not much to do, but it's an experience that I think is well worth the 99 cents. Pick this one up!
Well worth the 43p The conversations are terrible, the activities are limited, but it is extremely funny and will easily keep you amused for several games. Don't bother comparing it to the Sims, it is not at all intended to resemble it. It is just a simple EQ game where you survive by manipulating the other players. You should do a multiplayer version, you would make a fortune out of it, but in the meantime, that was extremely amusing and very good value.
Bit glitchy at times, but the computer handled it with a bit of patience.
In the event that it gets updates, it will be even more amusing.

This is a hard one for me. Did I enjoy the game? Kind of. Do I want a sequel and for the game itself to improve? Absolutely! Is this perfect? No way. All I'm saying is, Proximtiy Games, please contact me if you ever want to make a sequel, and I'll give you all the help you need for free. For real, my overall rating is neutral, but I have a lot to say on the subject.
It makes me so angry that this game didn't reach its full potential. There's only so far you can get with "Small Sister" being a blatant parody of Big Brother. I've wanted a Big Brother game for so long, and this is the closet we have right now to play the game. It's a weird mix of the US and UK versions (I particularly prefer the US version of the show), but all it really is is interacting with these bland characters through repetitive actions over the span of the two hour game. There are no challenges, mini-games or twists that make the show so interesting.
The game balance is messed up. If you max out one skill then you can pretty much abuse that to victory. Fill up the self-confidence bar and control the way the house votes so easily. It's also really sexist for having "cooking" as a female-only skill, but I'm just going to pretend this game was made in like the late 1990s, which is how it feels at times
If this game took more time to bake, adding in challenges, fixing dialogue and adding more depth, and even tightening up the house graphics and adding eviction walk out cutscenes, it could be the best Big Brother game that never happened. If it took more than what feels like a week to make with a budget bigger than $5, it could be so fun and attract many Big Brother fans.
I got this on sale for 39p, so very cheap. I don't regret buying the game at all, it was at a comfortable price for me to take the risk. I'd wait for a sale, because £3.99 even seems too much. I'm not sure how popular this game is, but I hope in some way this causes a domino effect that'll result in the perfect Big Brother type game of our dreams.
The title of this game should get all owners placed on a watchlist, but this is just an odd attempt to make a Big Brother game that feels more like if The Sims 1 was worked on for two days and then released. I thought it would be fun to make fun of but it's so slow and lacking that even that is difficult. The game couldn't even track the first hour I spent on it, and I had to relaunch it to be able to write this review, informing all of my Steam friends that "SirLagsalott is now playing Small Sister".

i wish there was a neutral option for reviews on steam, because i have a hard time recommending this. i bought this on sale for $0.49, and it was entertaining and worth what i paid, but i can't say i'd pay full price for it. wait for it to go on sale.
There's not much by way of tutorials and the crontrols are a little disorienting but regardless I figured out how to get the most out of this one.
I'm finding it a bit hard to review this game, because I am not really certain what the core experience is supposed to be. From the title, the game is meant to satirize reality tv shows like big brother, but I don't really see where the satire is... After all those kind of shows are generally more graphic, more vulgar, and more bizarre than this game.
The characters are all just blank faces, which are easily interchangeable, and without any real personality. The dialogues are stilted and unnatural, and will repeat a whole awful lot. You get points from socializing, and I suppose your skilllevel influences how many points you get. It's not really a difficult game though, even as you have limited dialogue action each day like compliments. Most of the game is really just waiting once you got a healthy lead on your opponents until the day runs out while your skillbar fills up from training...
Your character has four different skills that can go up in value to ten, with one of those skills being different from men to women... With men having humor and women the ability to cook? I don't really get that joke, since in a lot of these monitored reality shows, the guys are more self-centered douches than funny, and the women look like they're more used to having their feet behind their heads than planted in the kitchen... Maybe these kinds of shows are different outside of my country. :P
The game has some "adult content" since you can seduce and engage in sexual relation with contestants of the opposite gender. Weirdly enough in order to do this you need to have your "gender-skill" (cooking/humor) on seven... I have never seen one of these reality fuck-houses where a guy has said. "Sorry Maria, I will not engage in sexual relations with you until you can make a proper omelette." It actually feels weird that you can't have same sex relations in this, since the characters are so bland, and the sex not really very graphic beyond really bad sex-dialogue. It wouldn't change anything to have two guys or two galls porking in missionary like that. :P (Sex (woohooing) in the sims games is actually more exciting, even though you don't see it directly. XD At least then it is silly.)
It didn't really feel like there was much personality to the game, or like any of my choices did matter, though they must have to some extend, since it did give me a numbered ending. :P
I do find it weird that a video game has way blander and less cartoony characters than real life. :/
