Each time you write a shown word, the ballista fires to an enemy. The enemies keep coming in waves and you have to write words fast. You can upgrade and repair your castle if it is damaged. There are also two powers which can help you when you are having an hard time.
Type Defense offers you a interesting approach for typing. You can either play it as a game or a fun way to practice typing. Type Defense will surely improve your writing skills. You have to write each word correctly if you want to shoot desert bandits.
If you just want to survive you have to type fast and correctly. If you want to shake the highscore, you have to type even faster! Because the game has an awesome combo system which would push you even more for highscore.

A rudimentary and unfair typing game.
Basically Digital Trash that should have died with the Age of Flash Games.
You get what you pay for.
If you're already good at typing, the game gets boring quite quickly - after the initial ramp up, the difficulty stays there for the rest of the game (at least, it does until wave 110+, which is when I gave up). Once you get to a certain point, you're rolling with gold and Last Defense is just a barrier in your efforts to lose. Conversely, if you're trying improve your typing, this isn't the game to do that either, since the aforementioned ramp up happens quickly and harshly.
The upgrades are boring, and I only ever used them by accident. I know it's quite the cheap game, but it could do with a few more ways to spend your gold, even if it's just a money sink to make your castle look better (then players might not notice that the gold number spills over once it accumulates past a certain amount). Some bare-bones QOL improvements like the ability to skip the waiting time between waves (God knows there's nothing else to do during that time - if you're already waiting 10+ seconds, you don't need to repair your castle) and unifying the font choices could be some quick fixes to improve the game and make it seem more polished. Maybe add a difficulty selection, decrease the rate that the difficulty goes up (unless you select Hard from the get go), and allow the difficulty to continually increase, which could be allayed with more creative upgrades/weapons.
Not a good game, but also not a terrible game. Unfortunately, I've played free online flash games that have executed this concept better.

Saw this game featured in Lets game it out, and being a very fast typer (average ~700 char/min for normal text), I felt immediately challenged.
Unfortunately, at some point, the difficulty does not ramp up anymore/infinately (as it should normally with these types of games), so anybody good enough on the keyboard can play this infinately. Played it until score > 500.000, then got bored.
Shame, it could have been a nice challenge/competition for max scores, if the difficulty would just keep ramping up infinately, or some other ways to progress.
Still, a very fun concept, and since its almost for free, no way to complain!

I bought this little game because I saw a nice video of it on youtube (Josh). I need to type in my profession and I like the game because it lets me practice while relaxing. I wish more languages were available. You probably won't spend thousands of hours on it, but it's very enjoyable nevertheless.
I wish a little more progress was possible - past a certain level you just accumulate points and cannot improve the castle more.
gets way to hard to quickly. very little to do aside from type words as fast as you can. I was looking for something to help with my typing and my spelling and this didn't really do that for me as i just ended up being frustrated at being stuck on the same wave over and over again without feeling like i could progress.
I would like to improve my typing speed, so i tried this game. I like the idea, but it get too difficult too fast, so it's not fun.

What is there to say? Not so much...
It cost under 1€ and gives less than and hour of gameplay, but it is a good game to test your typing skills.
Typing practice, the game.
Yes, it's as simple as the screenshots look. You are just typing the words on screen and the combat is automated based on your typing speed and accuracy. You have a couple of special powers to spend gold to get through tough spots, but the point of the game is to practice your typing skills.
It's an interesting gimmick for $1 or less.

Well hello there typing game that actually makes me want to type faster! Seriously... this game puts urgency on you to do it so well in order to win. That's an interesting way to train your skills. Also, for those who are bad at "Tower Defense" (Me), this is mostly typing. Really. By the time I am done, I will have 200 WPM record. (That is a joke).
This is a game you go to forget your bad day or just to vent frustration. Imagine all that bad stuff coming out as you type out the word and you hear that "ugh!" as your arrow successfully hits the enemy. Bam! Bad day no more!
For those who think this is cruel... well I gotta say: they are drawn and they respawn, so it is okay... I mean we play games to escape reality right? Not to make sense of it.

big problems here, the game has no difficulty setting. It also gives the things you are meant to type one word at a time, which feels like the worse way to do it by far
Y'know what, it's not bad.
I got this at 0.64p and unlocked every achievement in 47 minutes.
I bought it expressly because I am an extremely fast typist, and I knew I'd be good at it. After Wave 100 (probably earlier, to be fair) nothing else changes, and it's the same thing again and again. I've noticed a few people mention it's not that good for learning typing, but I'd disagree somewhat; I would find that this would help anyone who has an average speed (40-50WPM) get up to a decent speed (around about 90WPM). I doubt it would allow one-finger typists to learn, nor would it allow a decent typist to get up to my speed, as the enemy waves are just not fast enough - that being said, I type upwards of 130WPM, and that's way overkill for just about anybody.
I'd absolutely recommend this for even the full price of 0.99p - it's an easy achievement set for those so inclined, and it's a nice little time passer for those who just want to type.
This game does not do what I was hoping for or expecting. I thought this would be more of a teaching tool or a practice game for those who struggle with typing or would like to improve and it really doesn't pull any of that off. There are not different modes or anything to give you different forms of practice it is just a straight defend your base while typing words as fast as you can. One issue with this is that if you do hit a wrong letter and you are typing fast then you end up hitting four wrong letters before you realize you need to type a different word. I think it should make you type the words despite the mistakes to help train you to find the letters you may have trouble with. Again maybe some other modes would help but this really just turned into typing until being bored. One play through unlocked all achievements and caused me to quit because I didn't see an end in sight. I wish this game offered more in the area of teaching typing, so I really can't recommend this unless you just want some quick achievements.
It does not really support other languages. Because 80% of the words does not really exist or are just shortcuts.
It is getting hard to fast. It has to be improved! I can not understand how some people wrote a positive review.
My best moment in this game:
I played it in german language and then it wanted me to type "NPD" (which is a nazi party in germany) while shooting on guys with turbans.
Update: Ok I got every achievement now. By just calming down and type in normal speed. you will be defeated in the first 10 waves if you do typos. So it is just the beginning that is hard. Does not make sense anyway. Because then it is getting boring and you can not be defeated when you survived the first 10-15 waves.
Hard as f*ck at the start and then it is trivial - you can play this game forever (i got bored at wave 500 with score 1.500.000 and 60000 in gold) . Is this absolute lack of game balancing - or was this done by purpose? - telling us something? And - why are those letters so big, taking half of the screen?
Still, it was fun. (paid $0.5, played the whole night :D)
100% Achievements in 50 minutes. This would be kinda awesome on GDQ.
Not gonna lie this game isn't graphically fantastic, but it functions how it should.
It was less than a dollar, and I would agree it's worth that much. Still had fun.

As someone that is learning to type (Dvorak) this game gets too hard too fast, would not recommend this game until you can type at 20+ wpm, I'm on about 12 wpm at the time of writing and the game lasts for about 2 mins before I die and have to start again, it gets so fast that my typing just gets frantic and I no longer am practicing typing as much as I am key mashing and not learning anything. Some adaptive difficulty based on our typing speed/accuracy/performance, or manually set difficulty, would sort this out.
I would also recommend to the dev that as this is a typing game that there needs to be menu navigation via the keyboard either by typing the menus words or by showing keyboard shortcuts on each of the menu items, the last thing we want to be doing is taking our hands off the keyboard to use the mouse.
Looking forward to trying this game again at a later time if there are difficulty settings available and adjusting my rating accordingly.
So this game is totally worth the price. For under a buck, the chances that at least one of your young typers will find it interesting enough to get some serious playtime out of it are very high. We made a little family competition to see who can beat their own high score. One negative is that it does not appear adaptive at all. This results in a set "slowest" speed that will rule out very first time touch typers. However it is slow enough that someone with a little bit of typing experience will at least get through a couple of waves. Similarly after about level 80 there is no noticeable increase in difficulty. Just to make sure of that, I burned through to wave one hundered using bombs from 80 to 100(after 80 when you use a bomb you get enough gold back that you can just use a bomb every level), and then started typing again and sure enough the waves were no more difficult than at 80.
4/5 for the game. 5/5 because of the price. Thanks!
I'm not that good at typing. So I found it pretty challenging at the later waves when there were so many enemies coming to you all at once and I was to late to use the explosion. I almost threw my keyboard, then realize that my keyboard worth more than this game.
Yeah, this is a fun game.
It's under a dollar and you will get your money's worth. If you are an average typer you should beable to get all the achievements. I got bored around wave 103 and just let them destroy my castle. There are only a handful of upgrades and you'll find yourself with more gold then you'll ever beable to spend so don't be afraid to use the abilities. Do note that using the cannon ball abiltiy will not give you any score but you will recieve gold.

This game is like P90X for your fingers. I ran into muscle failure keeping my wrists up in proper form at Wave 100 and quit out to toast-spam several achievements for my time - though some looked broken :(
That 40 mins or so was worth my 84 cents!
