Not bad
Negative reviews are quite right, my review has spoilers.
The game is bad everywhere. Mostly bugs and bad balance.
An example at level 3 has a clip that kicks you out of the game. The solution of the creators in the discussions is to skip it until they fix it, it's been 4 years and it hasn't been fixed. Therefore, it seems that the game, abandoned long ago, also cuts, and you lose points, and at a moment you fall into the ground and many others. Aito is as dumb as a shovel, the upgrades are poorly made and poorly executed, how to play. Design is cheap and ugly, most of the things you find are useless, the story is stupid and more confusing for you than for the character.
The game is simple and straightforward. Clips, walking left and right without fighting and small and short battles and only then you can hit. While walking you don't have a menu with blood points and such things except in the settings.
This is only the first part and will not see a second.
I would recommend it if it was free.
And finally, there is an achievement that requires you to replay a past level, not even 6 percent, it looks like how much the game has been played.
It's just not worth it there are some good ideas but optimization is disaster. I got in on 80% sale for $2.99 and still asked for refund
short and mix with devil may cry and prototype games
6/10
Devil's Hunt is an okay action, hack and slash game although I can definitely see why it has a lot of negative reviews; so let's get into the story. In Miami a young man named Desmond has it all, a nice house, a good job, a best friend and a beautiful girlfriend he's going to propose too, yeah life is going good for him. But his day is about to turn into a nightmare, losing his job, losing in an underground fight and worst of all losing his girlfriend Desmond’s life is completely unraveling and after committing suicide he finds himself in hell.
But Lucifer says he doesn't have to be in hell he can give him a job as an executioner, a being that is tasked to reap the souls of evildoers and send them to hell, but like life, the afterlife is just as complicated and gray and Desmond must figure it out away to escape from this contract, but he also must figure out why everyone is calling him the savior and destroyer, but to accomplish this task he must fight literally like hell to do so.
Well now the likes, the gameplay is okay and I get what the developers were trying to do, basically you fight demons with your bear demonic hands delivering devastating punches while also using magic attacks and finishers, it's a good concept and it is a little bit entertaining, but there are ways that could have been a lot better with it, but I will talk about it in the dislikes.
The story was okay, it's pretty simple man goes to hell but finds out he's part of a prophecy that hints at a bigger plot, it does use a lot of clichés but I didn't mind that. The graphics were good, nice use of color, shading especially for the various parts of hell and the animation. The levels were good each one was a little bit visually different and quite nice to look it, especially hell.
The enemies and bosses were good each one had their own unique looks; I also enjoyed the character designs of the damn souls and demons. The characters were good I kind of like Lucifer, he was kind of cool but I think my favorite has to be Sawyer he's just badass.
The music was okay nothing to rememberable, it was ultimately serviceable. The voice acting was fine some of it was good like with Lucifer and Sawyer, others not so much like Desmond and his best friend. The notes were okay, easy to read and some were a good bit funny, I also enjoyed the collectible art you can unlock it was quite good to see the proto versions of the characters and the levels.
Well now the dislikes, while I said the gameplay was okay it does get a bit repetitive and dull I also didn't really care for the blocking system, I feel like an Arkham/Mad Max styled gameplay l would have been better for this type of game. Also while I said the story was okay it did have some contradictions and a few parts were I was like wait a second why doesn't this character just do this, like in one part of the story we're supposed to get the blood of this extremely powerful executioner named Muriel that everybody wants including Lucifer.
But here's the thing the blood isn't like in a super secret hiding place or protected by some super powerful monster, no it's actually in hell and that made me go wait a second why didn't Lucifer just go get it, it was right there, it’s not like it’s made from some magical alloy that burns anyone that Muriel does not deem worthy to hold it.
It's these little deus ex machina things in the story and some parts that needed to be expanded upon that really hurts the story, also the story ends on a cliffhanger/to be continued which wouldn't be so bad, but due to the poor reception of the game I don't think the story will ever be finished.
There’s also plenty of bugs in the game, nothing really game breaking though except for this one cutscene when Desmond first arrives and meets a hunting demon and then the game just crashed for some reason, it's only in this cutscene those. The rest of the cutscenes are fine, well the cutscene for the end of the game crashed on me, but it only happened to me once and that was when I hit continue. But anyway you can skip that introduction to the hunter demon.
Now I know I said the notes were okay, but the problem with them is the fact that you can't take them with you, like say in the Resident Evil when you pick up a note you take it with you and you can look at it whenever you want, but for some reason you can't really do that with these notes.
I also would have liked some of the enemies have bit more variety when it comes to looks I know I said the enemies and bosses are good, but I do wish like some of the common enemies had hair or had different colored clothing you know something to diversify them a bit. And finally I feel like the price is a bit too high, I think 10 bucks would have been way better than 15.
Okay then with that said Devil's Hunt is an okay action, hack and slash game although I can definitely see why it has a lot of negative reviews; it has okay gameplay, an okay story and good enemies and bosses.
So I will give this game a thumbs up, but barely, but do I recommend this game not really, maybe if it's on sale and you have patience, but ultimately I feel like you can probably skip this game if you still don’t want to buy it, but I will say if it ever gets a remake and the developers address a lot of these issues and give the game some Arkham/Mad Max style gameplay I think the game would be a lot better received.
Amazing story, great beat em up, easy to play, good graphics, ok music.
Yea it's pretty good for what it is, the dialogue is mid, the music is mid, the game crashes once in awhile, and there was a bug that wouldn't let me pick up Muriel's note to expand the Void skill tree. The game is a fun time though, the pacing of the story reminds me of a Netflix show and while the combos in this are simple when compared to other 3D brawlers on the market its more satisfying comboing the spells you unlock throughout the game, the tools for combat compliment each other well enough. Also the game is extremely generous with checkpoints which bandaids the crashing issues. This is that AA gem game you'd come across in gens past, but don't see much in 8th gen, I got it on sale and it's a pretty good time if you can snag for $5 or lower.
