This is a fun game to play with friends, however my friends are all intensely bad at video gaming (naturally they would disagree) which is why I easily win all the time
My biggest disappointment with this game is my ignorance to its existence sooner. This is one of the best Mario Party-likes out there and it isn't close (the customization, game variety, blood, etc. this screams violent Mario Party). Yes, there are some really fun games in this genre available, but where Pummel Party shines is the Steam Workshop support. Some of the available mods and mini games are truly spectacular (looking at you Valhalla remake).
There are a couple important points to note before making this purchase. This game is significantly better with controller. Some of the controls for mini games are not intuitive on keyboard and are far superior using a game pad. For a 7 year old game I was surprised to find a few public lobbies, but you will want to convince your friends to get this or find a group to play with for the best experience.
If you're looking for a way to kill time on a Wednesday night, look no further.
Really fun party game, moddable games can be super enjoyable, we've played this in groups of four and up to eight, hours go by and everyone generally enjoys it.

Its an amazing fun game just some of the games are host client sided so you have to be careful about that, otherwise, its Mario party but you can kill each other 10/10 would play again
This is a mario party-like, I'm glad it exists and it's fun enough to play, but I feel like it's lacking compared to its predecessors (like mario party 3, 6, or 7, or to party project).
I'll start by listing the good points:
- Nice and in depth rules customization, from minigame to item bans, and lots of things you can tweak.
- A map and minigame editor with workshop support!!
- Nice enough graphics with neat enough cosmetics to customize your character.
- Minigame placement determining the roll order of the next turn is a very interesting mechanic.
- The weapon cache spawning in parallel to the chest is interesting as a thing to go for.
Now onto the more sour points that make me rather play one of the games I cited earlier:
- Default minigames are kind of meh, some are alright, a lot last way too long (3 minutes is way too long for one minigame). This can be fixed with careful curation and workshop minigames at least.
- Default boards are mostly meh, with several being way too complex for no reason (like what is up with rival arena and overgrowth?). Notably because of the lack of item shops or similar, you're just mostly rolling your die and hoping you get good items from minigames, and it's a bit boring. Luckily you can get workshop mods to patch that.
- Item selection is bad. Only 3 items affect movement at all (the most important aspect of board play). Nearly all items are solely dedicated to damaging your opponents or preventing damage, so instead of having fun way to naviguate the boards, you are mostly just sending eachother to the graveyard over and over and maybe stealing keys on the way. Sure there are subtle differences between eggplants and beehives and stuff (and it's cool that the actual board geometry comes into play), but all these items are the same: they just damage opponents.
- Keys are gained agonizingly slow. Everyone mostly gets the same amount from each minigame and it's such a low number. That makes the main way of getting them just to punch them out of other players with damaging items. That is both unreliable, and as said with items just mostly lead everyone to just pulling eachother down (by repeatedly being sent to the graveyard and losing keys in the process) instead of pushing yourself to the chest and progress the game.
[*]Sound design and animations are lacking, the board movement lacks punch and impact and is quite dull to watch (especially when your character moves around the board).
I don't know if any of these issues would be adressed, as those probably point out to me wanting a different kind of mario party-like. This is the only one I know of that has both custom boards and minigames possible (you can put custom boards in mp1/2/3 with partyplanner, but they are the only one I know of for that, and I don't know if anyone made custom minigames in there), so I will give it that. I'm still glad this exist.
The minigames, which are the actual gameplay here, are disappointing. They are varied, but feel very basic and raw. Simply boring. Like each was done in one day as a proof of concept. They resemble the quality of some random roblox or flashplayer games.
You may think: ok, but what about community-made modes from the workshop? Indeed, the highly rated ones are noticeably better than anything the devs offer, which is laughable.
I really don't get the popularity of this game. Is it because of the amount of genres included? There are many great couch games that focus on a single concept, but execute it far better than anything here. I personally prefer quality over quantity, so I have to give a negative.

It tries to be Mario Party while missing all the charm of Mario Party. I hope someday we get a true Mario Party successor, but this isn't it
Its not fun to play, there is no 3v1 gamemodes, the controls are terrible. We've played 2 games, and during both times we all just give up after 10 turns because its so inconsistent. Clearly this thing was phoned in.
Quality Party game. Minigames are hit and miss. Board games are alright. And the customization is pretty good

That game was so much fun. I don't know about the online multiplayer but the local multiplayer was the most fun I've had playing with other people on the couch in a long long time.
Great game with 4-player local co-op that feels like Mario Party grew up and got a job. But still knows how to party! It absolutely holds its own and brings the fun. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for awesome party games on PC!
Good but watch out for a guy named Pappy Le Smear. He'll really steer ya in the wrong direction.

This is a game where u go in thinking its just another free asset game but then holy damn it has tons of mini games and i mean tons like 60 70 + then u have steam workshop when u can get even more minigames dont even get me started with the board game mode its incredible me and 6 of my mates bought it 3 days ago and cant stop playing definitely give it a chance
If you take out the blood and guns, this is what Mario Party could have and should have been. With Steam Workshop support, there's a practically infinite amount of minigames and maps to play. But even without that, I played a 25 turn round and didn't have a single minigame repeat.
How about playing online, WITH local splitscreen!!! So multiple people can play on the same device, while playing online with others. That by itself is mind blowing that they have that feature. I don't know of any other game in any genre that has that.
It's criminal that there isn't more active online lobbies in this game, this deserves to have a ton of players on it.
The artwork is a beautiful match to the gameplay. Great controller support as well (I used both PS5 and PS4 controllers with a friend and both worked flawlessly).
Now for the minigames, these actually require skill and not just button mashing!
If they made a kid friendly version of this, maybe with more cute/cartoony graphics they could easily have a Mario Party killer on their hands.
Its a relly nice party game, but i have one big problem when I try to join my friends it wont let me. There ist always a massage "Error" and it kicks me out of the lobby. I hope anyone has a solution for me.
Mario Party but you massacre your friends in the least family friendly manner possible, competing for medieval-ass trinkets with optional modded minigames in which the community creates even more bizarre and gruesome opportunities for death.

Super fun! Many mini games to play with lots of friends. Lots of ways to sabotage other players. Prepare to have an all out war with your buddies, kinda like monopoly. The games take a while to get over, so make sure you have lots of time! Well worth it!
Googled best Mario Party alternative. I'd argue that the mini games in this game are much better as some are genuinely challenging, excited to try out some workshop mini games!

This is a great game for beginners. I enjoy watching similar games like Mario Party. I recommend you buy a controller for this game because PC controls are hard to navigate.

Really great party game. The mods, which allows to play more mini-games on more boards, is a really greate addition plus they are server synchronized so you can just play with your friends mods list. Visual are simple but nice. Fun and easy to play.

Fantastic game! It's basically Mario Party with Blood and mod support. Definitely a new favorite for game night!
split screen, perfectly suited for kids. Make sure to filter out any minigames you find inappropriate. And with the bots as enemy team my kids don't have to play against one another. I'll field test on a big car drive soon using the steam deck in the back of the car.
Its really fun with a full crew (6-8) of ppl until u run into the O-so-great hacker players, unless thats your thing :/

Game still being patched to this day despite being out for 6 years + and there is a vast amount of workshop mods, as well, increasing your gameplay experience. Both mini games and maps.

I do recommend this game it is a lot of fun with friends and always a good laugh something happening and rivalry but..........
This is where my negative comes through
The game if not played with friends is played with randoms majority of them are stupid dumb russian who will join ur game and team up in a solo lobby against one player and proceed to use everything they get on u every turn even if there is 8 people in the match and there is no way to remove them if they start to lose and cant team on u because of bad lucky item drops they will just quit half way through and leave u with bots ruining u and ur friends game because stale and boring
The Way to fix it FOR THE DEVS add in host remove player function so u can remove these toxic players also give the host the option to open the lobby mid game so someone cant take the place of a player thats left or kicked or just implement a vote system would make a lot of sense because no one wants idiot russian kids teaming because they are salty i know the game aint big enough for a report system but at least give hosts the power to remove these morons.
so moral of the story play this game with friends and IF NOT DONT PLAY RANDOM PLAYERS LOBBIES u will regret it russians/or mega sweats whos main game is pummel party and play it like its life

Fun game, some of the minigames are a little unbalanced, give Mario Party vibes but violent. Also hard to get a group unless it's people you know :( if you have friends, definitely play this game
Super fun to play with friends, or alone. Plenty of different mini games, and lots of unlocks constantly being added to work towards collecting.
I love this game and it's been added to our weekly game nights, super funny, fun, and really easy to get into but also competitive.

Definitely worth checking if you're searching for local multiplayer games. Great support for controllers, and has built in split-screen for up to 4 players. Quite rare to see these days!
